I go primarily for the pasta specials which I really enjoy. The pizzas are good - nothing gourmet.

Good subs, great prices! I decided to try this place for lunch and it turned out to be pretty good. They have a good variety of food on their menu, so you don't have to eat pizza if you don't want to. They have lunch specials on the board so I decided to try a sub with fries. The staff was friendly and helped answer any questions I had. There is also plenty of seating available. The food came out pretty quickly and I was surprised at how big their "small" sub was. I tried the super Italian (you can ask for it warm), which came with plenty of condiments and was really good. The fries topped it all off and I left full and satisfied. Good option for lunch indeed. King's is exactly what you should expect; solid stuff by a small chain in a small town. The pizza is darn good (thought the red sauce a little sweet, which, as a NYCer, would not be allowed. They do slices with great deals (e.g., two slices and a soda for $7). A single slice of the stuffed pizza (get a meat one) is enough to feed two people and they give you an extra container of sauce. I can't speak to the subs or gyros (which get pretty good reviews) or the pasta (which gets mixed reviews) though their wings are tip-top. (Why is it that pizza places often have better wings than joints that brag on their wings?) Everything I've had here is good and the service--although not necessarily friendly but not at all rude is just instrumental--I'd be a bit wary of the pasta, though I will try it some day. In a boring strip mall, it's a little taste of what a pizza joint in NYC looks like. It is worth going go. read more

What a disappointment. We used to order from this place weekly until recently when I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with no mayo.. I received the order with mayo. We called to let them know there was a mistake, and the individual that answered the phone told us that he asked the cook, and he said he did not put mayo on the sandwich. No "sorry"or any other explanation was provided. Ordered the next week and asked for no mayo, and the sandwich had no cheese. At this point, I am questioning the cognitive abilities of the folks at this restaurant. Save yourself the hassle and frustration and order from a restaurant with competent staff. I ordered a large cheese pizza for delivery about 2 weeks ago. It was over $21 & that did not include driver tip (but there was a delivery charge that did not go to driver, I asked). It arrived an hour later & was Luke warm. It was disgusting. The sauce tasted like it had a pound of sugar in it. None of us could eat it. I called to complain & was offered a replacement ,pizza, for that night. I declined. No one wanted eat pizza after that taste, on the same night. I mean yuck! Another reason I declined it. Besides having to wait another hour wouldn't they be using the same sauce since it was the same night? Yes it would. They don't keep spare sauce on hand. This place is almost perfect for a Cheese Steak junky like me. I grew up on Phili Cheese Steaks from Als in Alexandria Va but have had to do without when I moved to WV. I was delighted when I discovered Kings. This place could be a perfect replacement for ALS if they would change the way they prepare their Sub. They should mix the cheese into the meat while it's cooking then top the Sub with an abundance of cooked onions. In my opinion Kings would be 5 Stars. Not that Kings is known as a fine dining establishment. I have patronized several of their establishments. In Kearneysville, Inwood, Martinsburg. The bar has never been set high at any of their restaurants. But this one conveniently limbos underneath any customer service standards. The young lady taking orders could not be more disinterested in doing her job professionally. Rude would be one word for her. Several others come to mind. None of them I would print here. I've been ordering from King's for about 10 years. They always deliver quickly - to my door, I live in a condo (vs other places that make me go downstairs.) The food is always still hot, melty and good, and the pizza is the only thing close to a NY slice in Fairfax. I write today, because I received some bad family news, and just wanted pizza to sooth my soul. No surprise, it showed up hot, yummy, and perfect - and very quick!!! We ordered the "Chicago-Style" deep dish. When we got home and opened the box what we got was not true Chicago Style. Don't get me wrong, the pizza tasted great and I enjoyed it, but what they need to realize is not just extra thick crust with the same amount of toppings as any other pizza but rather it is the same amount of crust with extra toppings to make it deep. When I came to visit the area, my friend "raved" about this small pizza place. "You have to try their antipasti salad and a slice of stuffed pizza." Wow, I was surprised as the salad was very big and topped with so much meat and cheese, and the stuffed pizza was just awesome. Since that initial visit, I made sure to try something there each time I came back to visit. Steak and Cheese, Pizza, Spaghetti, etc. Needless to say I was never disappointed by any choice. Came in tonight with the kids. Ordered garlic knots and calamari. Garlic knots were burnt and calamari was over cooked by a minute, therefore a little rubbery. When we ordered for dinner our server, who was very polite and friendly ordered my daughters adult dinners instead of kid dinners and placed a dinner order for me instead of sandwich. She did square it away and did a great job at fixing the order. She left plates pile up but through training I'm sure she will understand how to clear the table. Chicken Parmesan sandwich was good, and kids pasta and chicken fingers were good. It's odd that the kids ravioli had 4 pieces of pasta and the Chicken tenders and fries had 5 chicken tenders with a huge plate of fries. Both were the same cost, yet I'm puzzled as to why the difference in sizes. They lost money on chicken tenders but made up for it on the pasta, plus charging full drink prices for each kid. Certainly not an economic choice to eat out with kids. Pizza was excellent according to my son and priced accordingly. The sauce is different than the NY pizza I've had but the cheese and dough were pretty close It was not a busy evening in the restaurant, perhaps they had a lot of pizza orders and take out which threw off the kitchen. read more

Our regular steak and cheese place is still closed for eat in dining so we thought we would try Kings, we were the only ones in the place, ordered a 12" steak and cheese, an order of onion rings, and 2 fountain drinks, so for starters the fountain drinks were flat, then we picked up the onion rings at the counter, they were beyond deep fried, and falling apart, over 10 min later the steak and cheese hit the counter, another swing and a miss, the lettuice on top was nasty, the tomatoes were 2-3 weeks from being ripe, and i cant swear to it but we are 99.5% sure the steak part was steak and cheese flavor hamburger helper, if all this wasn't enought, the whole time we were eating, a girl was running around spritzing everything with strong smelling cleaner to kill covid 19. read more

We are in town for the marathon and we were looking for a pasta dinner for my husband. The food was great, the kids actually ate their meals, and the waitresses were running their butts off. BEST FOOD EVER!!! My family and I stopped here for an early dinner when we came to Shepherd University for a basketball game. We are from Arlington and had no idea where to go, but stopped here because it was close. My husband had the steak and cheese which was AWESOME! My mother-in-law had the Shrimp Scampi and that was delicious with Jumbo Tiger Shrimp. My kids had spaghetti and fetuccini alfredo which were delicious and the portion was HUGE!! I've eaten at this location many times over the years and it is always delicious! The prices have gone up slightly, but are still reasonable. Their pizza slices are huge and the flavor is great. I only eat cheese pizza so I can't speak to other toppings, but I've never been disappointed. The cheesy garlic bread is also tasty. More recently, I got the stuffed shells which was delicious! I might even prefer their pasta over the pizza. The menu is huge, there's truly something for everyone. I highly recommend King's. read more

Great Steak Stromboli This pizza shop is located at the end of the Food Lion shopping center. I arrived at 2pm on Saturday with the family, the pizza shop was empty. One other couple came in while we were there, they sat outside. There are a lot of tables to sit at inside and a few tables with umbrellas outside. They have some cool paintings and custom art on the walls. We ordered garlic knots, the King's Deluxe NY style large pizza, and a steak stromboli. The pizza was good NY style pizza, the end crust was a little tough and bland, but not terrible; the rest of the pizza slice was very good. All of the toppings were very fresh. For pizza, this wasn't greesy at all, which was good. The large pizza was $20. The garlic knots had very soft dough, they were brushed with garlic butter and topped with fresh garlic. You get 6 knots for a reasonable price. The best score here was the steak stromboli, you can get a large or small stromboli. We ordered the small for $10 and it was great. It was like a cheesesteak wrapped in pizza dough. You can add peppers, onions, and mushrooms to make it just like a cheesesteak. This stromboli was loaded with cheese! This place was pretty good, we will most likly return. read more

I have been eating at King's for many years. Tonight was the first time I have encountered a complete lack of customer service and a screwed up order at the Shepherdstown location. I will stop by to see the owners and hope they can correct this issue with young girls that do not know how to be polite. Not the least of this is to not hang up on a customer. Very sad. read more

KING'S is the BEST In Shepherdstown, WV. Never had a bad experience or bad food eating here. The staff are very pleasant and helpful with ordering your food. The menu has a wide variety of selections to pick from, ( I'm sure you'll find your favorite ). My favorites are the Grilled Chicken Salad ( a must if you never had this ), Italian Sub, Steak and Cheese ( plenty of meat ) & the Garlic Bows ( served warm with sauce, very good, tasty ). I tried the Jumbo Tiger Shrimp Scampi, ( the flavor was delicious, the shrimp definitely Jumbo ). Come in and enjoy a sit down dinner or grab pizza and subs to go. Garlic knots seemed deep-fried and tasted of dehydrated garlic, not doused in fresh chopped garlic in butter as the Martinsburg locations do. They baked the sub so the roll was hot and crusty and they had hot pepper relish- a must for Italian subs. Fries were hot and crispy. Very clean establishment. The service is generally slow but everyone is very pleasant and customer focused - except for tonight when I left my hat and sunglasses there - I called as soon as I realized this and the person on the phone found them. Yay!! When I told her I'd be in tomorrow to pick them up she bizarrely replied "I'll put them up but if they aren't here tomorrow when you come back we're not responsible." Really?? Let's just say I reacted less than favorably to that boneheaded example of how to effectively convert a very delighted customer into a profoundly disappointed one.
