We had just eaten at the CWE Kingside the week before and really enjoyed it, so with a lot of time to kill before our flight we decided to give the Lambert location a try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even though it's obviously a smaller spot, the chess-themed decor they put up is a nice touch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our breakfast was just what we needed- a filling ham & cheese omelette with greasy diner hashbrowns was my choice. Our iced vanilla lattes hit the spot too. A bit pricier than a diner meal should be, but it is in an airport after all. This was a great choice during the wait for my flight out of St. Louis. It wasn't the fastest airport service, so take note if you're in a hurry, but the flip side is that my meal was freshly cooked to order. I had a cheeseburger (all burgers are double patties, and there's a choice of cheese) and fries, and they were fresh, cooked perfectly, and decently priced for airport food. The fries were crisp and lightly seasoned, and the burger patties appeared to be hand formed, with two tomato slices and a larger-than-the burger leaf of lettuce. The bun was soft, buttered, and toasted. Get little place for a meal before - or between - flights. I stopped in for breakfast and was seated quickly with coffee on the table almost immediately. Breakfast of bacon, eggs, hash browns and toast was out quickly and was very good. A complimentary cup of coffee to go made it all even better. My flight got delayed so I was able to grab a sit down meal before taking off and I ended up at the kingside diner which was delicious. The fish tacos were tasty and the French fries were super crispy. Service was fast and it was easy to get a seat, order, and checkout. I had to ask for a menu as the gentleman behind the bar was adjusting all the televisions to women's basketball games for one patron out of seven that were clearly watching other sports on the tvs and muffled under their breath complaints. I had to ask twice for a glass of water. Then there was the sandwich. The toast was slathered in butter, mayo, and avocado. It was so wet and soggy the it was all over my face and fingers.
