I don't live anywhere near there and I was not at all familiar with this pizza place. They gave me a takeout menu and I was impressed with how many choices there were and also how many locations they had. I ordered a buffalo chicken salad. When I got the salad I was surprised at just how large it was. It really could have fed a family. I ate some of it on a break and then took the rest home. It was just as tasty the next day. This place is up at URI so I have to go out of my way to go there but worth the trip. I got the Garlic Rose with extra tomato sauce. With the thicker dough, more tomato sauce, Roma tomatoes and garlic slices, this was a transcendental pizza pie. Thick and delicious. Reminded me of the old Caserta pizzas of the 1980's but better. This is a Southern Rhode Island classic!!! I've been ordering their pizza for AGES (around 15+ years) and I can confidently say their specialty pizzas are some of the best I've ever had. Must haves: the Thunderbird pizza - a hearty buffalo chicken pizza with caramelized purple onions and thick, gooey cheese. For awhile (like 5 or 6 years ago), the pizza dipped in quality a little bit by being stingy with the size and toppings, but now they have gone back to their old, topping-happy ways. A "city-size" that feeds around 4-5 people sets you back $24. The couch potato is also a winner - a classic cheese pizza with a layer of fluffy mashed potato and bacon bits sandwiched between the sauce and cheese. 10/10 comfort food. Ordered 2 Couch Potatoes Calzones with Sour Cream. Calzones seemed expensive for the size they give you. They also did not give us any sour cream, instead provided marinara sauce in 2 large containers. Asked for the Sour cream that was ordered and the person with the long beard (should probably be covered in a hair net) gave me two very very small sour creams that you would typically get from a Dunkin Donuts....was not enough for the Calzones. I used to be a frequent customer of Kingston Pizza. But the last few times I've ordered I had trouble. My boyfriend was kind enough to go pick-up some lunch from them for us today since our usual place wasn't open and im beyond disappointed.. Almost 4$ for an order of fries is about average. But upon opening my bag of fries I noticed I litterally had not even half of what usually comes with an order of fries.. Litterally a small handful.. I can get 4 times that amount from a side fry that costs almost half at the place I usually go in town. The ripoff on the fries wasn't even the worst part.. We got a calzone that litterally was burnt in some spots ontop and the edges were so thick the center of the crust was barely cooked.. This isn't the first time I have had an issue with Kingston Pizza.. But I will definitely NOT be ordering from their URI location ever again.. read more

Kingston, Rhode Island has very few restaurants. A large college campus has a small square of various fast food joints and a drug store. Just across the way lies Kingston Pizza. We ordered the Vineyard (vegetarian) Pizza and asked if they could hold the oil and the cheese. It was scrumptious! The dough is delicious - medium thick. All of the vegetables were cooked to perfection: kale, mushrooms, olives, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, and broccoli. There was a thin layer of delicious tomato sauce. A scrumptious, low-fat, meal! Also, we ate two leftover slices for lunch which were chewy and delicious. read more

Kingston Pizza URI was my favorite spot way back when I was at URI - but I hadn't been since I moved back due to a poor experience at a different KP location. It was late and a friend and I were trying to order from the Peace Dale location but there was no answer despite it still being well within their hours. The URI location answered and quoted an hour and a half to deliver to Peace Dale. After some discussion about whether or not to go pick it up they told us okay we can be there in an hour. We ordered a large pizza and large chicken cutlet. Both were okay not fantastic. I'm not sure how much of the anti climax came from a slip in quality or a rose colored memory enhanced by 15 years of lousy SoCal pizza joints in LA - but I was disappointed. The pizza sauce was still pretty good - which is a huge bonus and great starting point, but the crust just wasn't there....toppings were okay not great. The chicken sandwich was also just okay - not great but not terrible either. The real slap in the face was being informed that we could have gotten a free small cheese pizza since we ordered a large. Oh fantastic - did you bring it even though we were unaware and hadn't asked? ...no - management doesn't like it when we do that.....huh ? nice policy....we did order a sandwich too...sorry if that small cheese pizza was going to put the business in the red. Since moving to this area a year ago, I've found that of the mediocre selection of pizza shops nearby, this one is probably the best. The food is pretty good, and there's a good variety of other foods aside from the pizza. I've never disliked any of the food I've ordered. However, the delivery service here is HORRIBLE. Of the last five times I've ordered delivery here, three of them took well over an hour, and all three times I had to call to even check if my order went through. The last time took literally AN HOUR AND A HALF (I checked my phone from the time I called, I would've called sooner but I didn't notice how long it was because I was distracted by a football game). When I called, they said the driver would be there shortly, and sure enough, in about the amount of time it takes to drive from the shop to my house, it arrived. When in Kingston, it's the "go-to" pizza place. My personal favorites are the Garlic Rose (lots of tomato, chopped garlic and mozzerella) and My Wife's (the Garlic Rose with spinach). The crust is on the thicker side, but has a good crisp to the bottom. For me, this is a pro. It does not get soggy from the toppings. On an occassion that I do not order pizza, I go for the chicken marsala. Lots of mushrooms and a great sauce = YUM! The dining room has enough space for about 40 people and is race track-themed. A solid pizza and sandwich place. Good for both lunch and dinner, the food is good and mostly quick. I've eaten here about 10 times now and they have a good selection of food styles, with Italian, Greek, American, etc. Thus far, my favorite sandwich is the Ultimate, with eggplant as the clincher. While the food is average-to-good, there are a lot of drunken college students (since it's at URI) frequenting the place, which makes it a little unpleasant. Take-out solves the problem. read more

When I called back today after 55 minutes (which I know because my phone has a time stamp) the guy argued with me and said it had only been 40. Just not worth the hassle. The food is good, not amazing. It is expensive for what it is. My main problem is with their disorganized staff and the 30 something guy that works there that has a bad attitude. I ordered their $5 onion rings one day, asked for a side of blue cheese. he goes sure no problem, He then says my total is $7 something! I said what?? He goes blue cheese is a dollar extra. This place is truly disgusting: it's food and it's staff. They mostly serve drunk and very, very stupid college kids. I ordered once last year, as I had previously attended URI and have since transferred. The pizza took an hour and it really wasn't that good. 6 months later during summer I receive many phone calls from a 401 number. Being that I live in Boston, I was confused and did not answer until I become concerned because of the sheer amount I was receiving. Long story short, I was harassed by three different "employees", the driver, a woman service clerk, and the air headed (if i'm generous) manager. It was almost 11 at night and all claimed I had called and ordered a pizza. Most were apologetic when they realized I had in fact not ordered anything. However the manager continued to attack me, telling me I had. After making me cry and calling me a liar, he told me that I could never order from there again. My coworker and I order two salads from this location. Granted it was the delivery drivers first day, but he delivered the wrong salads and without any dressing. So we send him back and call the place of business and the guy that answers the phone says "WHAT A F-ING IDIOT" in regards to his newest coworker. Completely unprofessional. So he tells me he is going to fix the order and drop it off. It gets here, I start to eat it...and I find not one but TWO LIVE BUGS in the salad!!!! Absolutely disgusting!! Decided to give Kingston pizza a try & 1. it took an hour for a small salad to be delivered ON campus 2. on the phone the man assured me he knew exactly where I lived yet the delivery boy who called me had no idea where to go as the man had written a question mark on the receipt 3. once my food finally arrived I realized there were no forks or knives provided- yeah I love eating SALAD with my hands 4. The buffalo chicken on my salad was ice cold.. probably because the delivery boy was running around campus with it.. I ended up throwing the whole thing away it was disgusting and a waste of my time and money- NEVER again. read more
