Met up with a good friend in South County yesterday afternoon to talk some business and she asked where we should go eat. My first thought was The Bike Stop Cafe . We walked in for a late lunch and sat at the bar. I love the interior of the space. The pizza oven built of pizza stones is an eyecatcher but if you look around, you'll catch all kinds of fun decor choices throughout the space Our bartender was a gem. She was busy working on side work but she always kept an ear towards us so when we were ready, so was she. A sign of a real professional. We ordered some margaritas, the calamari and a small Powerslide pizza. Before long, she was setting everything down in front of us and we dug right in I was able to sample this pizza before at our National Pizza Day event last month so I was eager to snag a slice the moment it appeared before us. Sausage, caramelized onions, garlic and goat cheese. Yes, please. The combination of toppings with their dough as a base, with the bit of char from the wood fired oven? Divine. The calamari was excellent as well, fried perfectly (and if you know anything about me, I'm a bit particular about seafood). The peppers and olives were classic, well-prepared additions to the dish. And with the drizzle of balsamic, provided the extra acidity that I love on my seafood. And WHEN (not if) you swing by, if you drink make sure you order a cocktail. I've had an espresso martini before and now this time a margarita and every time they knock it out of the park! Loads of flavor options as well so you will find something you love, guaranteed. I'm sorry that this was not a great experience, as the cafe is cute, although a little on the scruffy side. It could definitely use a good scrubbing. Both my dining companion and I wanted seafood for lunch. We were told that their fish delivery, which they receive every other day, wasn't in yet. However, they had one order of mussels left, from their last delivery. I wasn't comfortable eating 2-day old mussels, so both of us ordered hamburgers. We were surprised that burgers were not cooked to order. I normally like mine medium rare, but we were told these were only cooked well done. It made more sense once we saw them. They cook 2 thin patties, slice them in half, and serve them on a hoagie roll with American cheese, lettuce & tomato. I found mine to be quite dry, even with added caramelized onions. We opted for side salads instead of fries, and enjoyed how fresh & crisp they were. We also liked the excellent blue cheese dressing. There was an upcharge for the salad but, surprisingly, not only the salad. I understand upcharges for things like caramelized onions and avocado, but they charged my friend for having a slice of cheddar instead of American cheese and for a slice of raw onion! Really? Plus, what they actually charged is more than what is listed on the menu. I understand prices are subject to change, but update your menu or have the server inform us when we order, please. We felt like we were being nickel and dimed at every turn. We did receive a 20% discount for mentioning a Facebook promotion they were running, but the add-ons ate that up. Our server was pleasant and efficient until we started questioning the bill, then turned downright surly. We asked to speak to the manager but was told she was too busy. I won't be back. read more

I use to live in the area and would order the salad pizza all the time. I haven't had it in years. I ordered it tonight and wow!! It's better than I remember. It's such a unique pizza i promise you'll love it! It's the perfect balance. Bike stop is such a cool spot with a gorgeous garden and wood fire pizza oven. I don't know what's up with the reviews here, but everything from the service, to the food, to the space was pretty dang good. We stopped in for lunch and I got the pulled pork grilled cheese. This thing was massive. I'm glad I went with the side salad. It is HEAVY. Hunger was certainly satisfied with this bad boy. Theres plenty of space in here, multiple rooms for seating. Pretty quick on the food, only thing that could have been a bit improved was the atmosphere in there. A little somber for whatever reason, but I'd probably chalk that up to the fact that this is a South county restaurant that thrives in the summer time and it's off season and it was like 40° this day. The Bike Stop Cafe is, contrary to what I thought, a full service sit down restaurant in the heart of the beachy town of Narragansett. There's a free parking lot out front and the vibe of this place is definitely unique; they have all sorts of different bikes hanging from the walls and they have a central pizza oven that looks like abstract art. Very cool atmosphere. And I like that they use fresh and local ingredients and make the majority of their menu items in house. Our waitress was also incredibly kind, friendly, and attentive. My husband and I visited as part of the RI Food Fights Sandwich Showdown, and the offering for the promotion was the Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese. It's not what I would have chosen, but it really was a delicious, hearty, and rich sandwich. The pulled pork was tasty and moist with a sweet bbq sauce. The thick bread it was served on was so buttery and stayed crispy the whole time. This was a cheese pull-worthy grilled cheese. I ordered a standard side salad with it and there were some Kalamata olives on it which was a nice touch. The sandwich typically comes with fries, and I cannot imagine eating that heavy sandwich with a side of fries. I suppose my only complaint about this meal is that it sat in my stomach like a brick, but I don't regret finishing the entire thing! The Bike Stop Cafe would be the perfect spot to escape the summer heat after a long day at the beach. Though, I'd recommend it any time of year. Food was ok, flavor fell flat and felt uninspired. Not the meatball sub was solid, but not amazing. OMG, the portion was crazy but don't worry, I finished all of it (barely). I definitely recommend getting a meat with it because they're generous with that too. I got about 7 to 8 big, tender pieces of chicken. The dish had nice flavor and the noodles went down so easy. I love pad's chewy and moist rice noodles. My only advice to the dish is to add some more of that typical peanut-Thai flavor. It lacked that a little bit. What's even better is the dish came with a nice sized side salad and I like that they added extra things like shredded carrots, cucumber, Kalamata olives, tomatoes, etc. They have a full bar, not just beer and my server was really friendly and cool. RI Food Fight- Wings Review: Never heard of this place but we had the wing coupon and found ourself in the area. What a cool place! Eclectic decor (thats my jam), good menu, decent prices and what a beautiful pizza oven (it's a sight to be seen.) The wings: We are pretty sure they were already cooked and just reheated but served sizzling in a cast iron pan. Ever go to a cookout and someone cooked the wings in a large aluminum serving tray with so much sauce they are just falling off the bone and just saturated in sauce to the point the sauce is thin? These represented that- a tad overdone but really enjoyed the flavor of the sauce. It was PIPING hot though- be careful. Other than that I ordered a sandwich which the waitress messed up. This was the second stop on a South County Pizza excursion for the Lord of the pies event, definitely a quirky beachfront type of establishment. We walked in mid afternoon and were told they were in the middle of completing a 50 pie order and that there might be a delay in getting our pizzas; undeterred we settled in and ordered some drinks and ultimately Kyle, our waiter/bartender got our pizzas out to us within 20 minutes. The truffle was well received as was the Meatball too. Huge brick oven and I can imagine this place must be slammed during the summer months when all the rentals are filled. I am always wary of waitresses that take your order without writing it down. Yesterday my wife and I ordered calzones to go. Of course they screwed them up. My order : meatball and spinach. My Wifes: Chicken and mushroom. We drove 25 minutes to a local brewery that had some entertainment. When we bit into our calzones, They were a spinach and mushroom, and a chicken and meatball. Was not happy because it was too far to go back. On top of this they were the smallest calzones we've ever seen. You could have fit 3-4 in one small pizza box. i had to order more food from the food truck at the brewery. I am not a big person weighing in at 160 pounds. We will definitely not be back. We had lunch here this afternoon and I wish this place was in my own town. Great service and the pizza was excellent!
