Sashimi salad! it had so many types of fish and even pineapple and tobiko and avocado; one of the best sashimi salads i have ever had

This cozy place on Davie st was amazing; the decor was very inviting, the server very professional and kind and the menu was spectacular! the variety of food was impressive and there was something for everyone and the serving sizes very generous. The prices were very competitive and they had great lunch specials!! I already look forward to returning!

New best 'somewhat' affordable sushi place for me. I typically don't come to Yaletown much. But after seeing some pretty photos of the food and reviews online, I was intrigued. I made a reservation here for a Monday dinner, but it looks like I probably didn't need to, seeing how there's plenty of tables left. The place looks decent, storefront was unassuming but everything looks proper and japaneseie without trying too hard. If that makes sense. Staff were actual Japanese, friendly and not to pushy when I was taking my time ordering. The menu was nice, with a good variety of everything. And some of the specially items were very photogenic. Ie the lobster roll. Seafood udon, tempura, actually everything we tried was amazing. Sapporo beer was only $5-6 too. Bang for the buck this is probably one of the best option around. We will definitely be back for more.

Wanted to like this place but quite a disappointment. Prices were fair but quality pretty average. We are talking about wasabi paste not freshly made. Worst unagi I have had in recent memory. Tasted vinegar in the sauce? Didn't even come out warm or preferably hot and slightly crispy. Plus side, last call at 930 and opens even on Sunday. The special written on the wall $7 hamachi Kama seems like a steal but likely a pricing error. Even then, don't think I will be back.

I wanted to give Kinkura a try after reading a DailyHive article for "more affordable" sushi. I would have to say it was borderline false advertising as the prices are definitely on the higher end of the spectrum. But understandable as they are situated downtown where the rent is skyhigh and the interior of the restaurant was modern and beautiful. The sushi itself tasted good and fresh but there were definitely few budget options in the menu if any. In particular there were no bentos being offered which a nearby Karen happened to mention so loudly. The servers were very friendly; the only issue I had was the fact there was only one working card machine in the entire restaurant which can definitely be a bottleneck. Multiple customers finishing around the same time, hold ups at tables, it's a future recipe for disaster. The staff were definitely trying their hardest to appease many difficult Karen type customers. Several complained about the false advertising from the article due to higher prices. The Karen that complained about lack of bentos was actually compensated with a free miso soup which she didn't deserve but it was friendly of the servers to give it to her. And yet another Karen complained that he didn't receive one of his rolls when it was simply on its way. I am definitely rooting for Kinkura with all of the difficult clientele it appears to be having in this area of downtown.

I was a solo diner in for a quick dinner. Service was excellent with a smile and very attentive. I was a little early but from what I saw, at prime time there might be a wait. Overall decent quality.

Brand new sushi restauarant in Yaletown! Great service, great food for the price. The rolls were not doused in sauce and you could actually taste the fish. Rolls incorporated lots of different textures which I liked. The pork gyoza was great. Also had a casual omakase course which was not disappointing at all! The omakase was simple, but definitely well executed and highlights the quality of the sushi. The tamago sushi was probably one of the best I've had. The interior is cozy and modern. Service is friendly and all the staff is very polite. We got the Sakura roll, the Spider-man roll, the pork gyoza, and Chef's Choice (omakase) sushi. We're only visiting for vacation, but we'd be regulars if we were locals. Great mid-range sushi restauarant. Highly recommend :)

    Yum yum yum

Can't believe this place doesn't have more rave reviews! We came in on a whim and I'm so glad we did. The shrimp tempura was so fresh and delicious. The sushi was plentiful and tasted SO good (great flavor combinations). Sometimes there's too much rice but the fish def was the star of THIS sushi. I highly recommend this place!

Robata short ribs, beef skewers, and zucchini. Can't remember the name of the roll but it was delicious

Great lunch bento box special. Very large portions, great chunks of chicken, nice tempura, and california rolls.

I appreciated this and would much prefer this over expecting to have a table than being disappointed. We got lucky though and were able to get seated right around 9. Service was very prompt and we were able to order, eat, and get out of the restaurant pretty quickly. Overall great experience even though I didn't absolutely love everything we ordered House roll: 3/5 this was ok. It sounded good initially but I think there was just too much going on Spicy chopped scallop roll: 4/5 presentation wasn't the best but it still tasted good Red dynamite roll: 5/5 their most popular roll for good reason. I would def recommend this one Salmon and tuna nigiri: 5/5 I liked both a lot and this perfectly scratched the itch for my sushi craving

I counted maybe 36 seats. The interior is nice but generic enough to be just about any type of restaurant. The menu accessed via QR code. I ended up trying the following: - Assorted Tempura: Good. Light batter, but slightly overbrowned. - Miso Black Cod: Good. More elaborate presentation than most, but very small piece. - Salmon Belly Sashimi: Very good. Fresh and delicious. - Tom Special Roll Tray: Very good. A great way to sample all the different roll, all which are very good. I thought it was reasonably priced and could adequately feed 4 people. Service was very good. There are a LOT of staff, so we were constantly being checked on to make sure we were happy and got anything we needed. Overall a good meal. It doesn't classify as the best sushi in Vancouver, but I can see the quality-value ratio might be the best in the city. All the food was quite good and certainly not overpriced. I imagine the high staff count was due to the overwhelming amount of takeout orders. I would return.

My hubs and I vacationed in Vancouver a few weeks ago in late April. We had seen the long lines for dinner at Saku when we were here more than a year ago. So, we decided to give them a try for a late lunch around 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon. No wait. We got seated right away. We liked how spacious and airy the dining room was. Our wait staff were friendly and on point. They were considerate about answering our questions about the food and food allergies. I ordered the chicken thigh katsu ($26 Can) and my hubs got the chicken thigh curry ($28.50 Can). No dairy involved in either dish which I was happy about because I have challenges digesting milk protein. Yes, it's kinda pricey. Yes, it's totally worth it. The katsu is light, crispy, fried perfectly, not greasy, and comes with unlimited rice, miso soup, finely chopped cabbage salad, and an addictively delicious sesame dressing. My hubs' curry sauce was served on the side so he could pour out as much or as little as he wanted. All in all, it was a very pleasant and satisfying meal. Saku is top notch for katsu. You won't believe how good katsu can be until you try it.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

Service was really amazing with servers explaining each dish and drinks were always topped off…read more Food was good, but maybe this isn't quite my style of omakase compared to the other ones I've tried. This is a more theatrical style so expect louder music and a more theatrical experience (eg one of the servers played the flute for the guests celebrating birthdays). I prefer a more intimidate and interactive style of omakase where you can talk with the chefs. This lunch also felt a little fast in terms of progression of the meal. Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size. Our total was around $500 with drinks for 2 people. A really good experience for omakase, especially if you are looking for a unique experience though not my favourite one I've tried.
