Car lost power while driving. Scary situation. This was recommended by AAA to tow my car to. Mind you, they were just about closing. Or were closed already. The doors were locked and Tim still opened the doors up for me. Opened the garage door to store my car overnight. Filled out some paperwork and was told that they may have issues getting the codes for some BMW's, but will update me. I thanked him for allowing me to come in when they were essentially closed up and I went home. The next day, Tim called me and updated me. Broke down what was needed to be replaced and how much. Even said that there weren't any other issues that needed to be addressed at the time. I agreed to everything over the phone. A few hours later, my car was ready. That was pretty fast considering what they needed to change is quite difficult to get to. Tim explained everything when I was to pay. A bit out of the way from where I live, but I would definitely come back here with Tim's exceptional customer service. read more

Took a car there to have a radiator coolant leak fixed, after a few days was told car was ready. Get the car back supposedly the issue was fixed also (found a dirty rag left under the hood) only to have it began leaking again after three days and get charged another couple hundred dollars as they missed the other damaged hose. This time I find someone's energy drink left in my car. Then the leak returns again after barely four months. read more

I wish that I could rate them a zero. I took my 2018 Kia Optima there because it would not start. They determined that it was the battery and proceeded to replace it. They call me to pick it up and when I arrived they tried to give me an invoice for $600. I disputed it and was told that this is the cost and that if I am not happy, they can take the battery out and return my car to the parking lot. I was more than happy to have them remove the battery, Next I took my car to Walmart auto center and they replaced my battery for $196.00 with a 3 year warranty, Stay away from Kinney's unless you are okay with paying triple the cost for a battery change. read more

This place wanted to charge me $50 to reprogram tpms sensors on a Ford lol. I bought the tool on Amazon for $15 and did it myself. The process takes less than 5 minutes. Have used Kinney's before and very happy with the work until now. They must have new owners. Took my car in for simple repairs that should be done in 2-3 days. Now we're 11 days and the car is still not ready. They have not reached out to us with reasons or excuses at all. We have made all the contacts only to be told ...another day or two. Their parking lot is full so it looks like they're taking in the easy quick cash jobs and letting real repairs just sit. This is a real hardship on taking my family needing to take Lift and getting rides to work every day. Only if we get the car back immediately with a substantial discount will I update this rating. read more

Since we've moved here, we've used Kinney's for my hubby's big RAM 2500 and my honda civic. I actually enjoy waiting in the shop because they have a charging station and clean restroom! We are always offered a drink and I even feel comfy coming here alone (you know how some shops can be). We've never had any issues. read more

They did a terrible job fixing my wheel bearing, it started to gym again only after a few months of being changed, went back and tried to charge me for both wheel bearing at $1400 when they o my charger me for $400 before for 2, tried to charge me more than double for a mistake they did. Have taken my vehicle in for service in the past...brakes, muffler/exhaust, check engine light...and each time Kinney's has treated me fairly and shown concern for my situation. Brian, the service writer I've dealt with, provides a price for what the repairs will run and gives an estimate for when I'll be back on the road. With cars being impossible to repair on your own, its nice to know you can take your vehicle to someone who is not going to cheat you or recommend replacing a bunch of nonsense to pad the bill. My son had a flat and wanted the same tire, as it was almost new. I searched for a dealer, as it was an uncommon brand. That search brought me here. I fully expected to buy a new tire. Surprisingly, they were able to completely repair the tire. Free. Yes, free. They said a replacement tire was not needed. Did I mention free? I was stunned. My rating is specific to my most recent visit. Kennedy is a kind man and that is why I have come back to him. But today I had a younger associate (20's with camp hat and pink sweatshirt) who from the moment I walked in had a dismissive and frustrating attitude. I asked about used tires and he said we don't sell those here. When going to look at my size tire he said "now you know new tires are going to be considerably more expensive!" Thanks! really? you don't think I am aware of that? Then when coming inside he says "i take it you want cheap tires since your asking for used tires?" Sure! That's one way to frame it. Another way to frame it is that I can only afford what I can afford as the father of six kids who is just trying to do upkeep the best I can! It went down hill as he showed zero interest in serving me and said it would be after lunch so I asked if I needed to come back then and again, dismissively he says "you have to stay here we are first come first serve." I can't wait that long so I said I will come back and he is less than concerned with seeing that I do. I am not a sensitive person and this was by far the worst experience I have had with Kenney's! I may be back but I guarantee you if he is behind the counter I will walk right back out! No excuse not to be kind and serving...None! Hire better people Kenney! read more

This is one of several reviews on the same vehicle. Kinney's had my car for over6 months for an engine swap and fuel pump. After hearing every lame excuse possible. I finally got the car back . Drove it to the store it died at every stoplight. Took it backsix weeks later was told it needed a 2,200$ body control module. I checked , the part is unavailable new . A Google search found 2 in Florida 1 still in a Mopar box( new).I installed it in 10 minutes with a stubby screwdriver. Nice markup on a part that was less than 200$. Finally driving saw that the fuel Guage wasn't moving. Took it back again. One guy told me the Guage worked when the float was moved manually. The guy told me the instrument cluster wasn't working. I told the I woul pick it up today. At this point I'm going to take them to small claims court after I get the fuel Guage issue fixed somewhere else. Don't even slow down when you drive past. Hardly any techs. Shift from store to store. I saw more service writers than techs. Don't even ask to talk to one they're unavailable. The one I was able to speak to didn't know how to use the jump box and handed it to me. I was a tech for about 17 years and still would be if not for being paralyzed in an accident. I ran between 120 and 150 book hours a week. These clowns might run 40 if they're lucky. Go anywhere but here. A few weeks later I I checked the fuel Guage. There was a tiny burr interfering with the rod that the floating attached. Even half paralyzed I was able to fix it with my wife's nail file. Once the burr was filed down it worked perfectly. These experts had it for over a week and couldn't figure it out. read more

I brought my vehicle in for an intermittent issue where the truck would not start after I shut it off. Almost like it had to cool down or something. I dropped my truck off and before the end of the day they had looked at it and had a solution for a repair. Since getting my truck back I have driven to Kentucky and back and not once have I had an issue. This place deserves a good review! I was sick of leaving my car at the dealer for days on end, spending money on rental cars and getting nailed with $1,000 plus bill each time. I'm happy that I have found a car shop that is quick (less than 24 hours in and out). I loved that Kinney's had a great website (with lots of reviews) and I wrote in a request for service through their website kinneysauto.com and was written back by the owner quickly. Another plus is it is a AAA approved shop and I got 10% off of my bill for being a member. It is in the older part of Hurst and I would have felt less than comfortable without my male friend with me. The shop is huge, it was an old department store and there are multiple entrances which is a little confusing. Both people at the desk were very polite and when I spoke with them on the phone they were courteous and very nice. I had rotors resurfaced (NTB had previously done a poor job in the fall), fuel filter (my request) and an oil change. My bill was in the low $300s. Very reasonable. I have a 2002 F150 Ford Pickup. Thank Heavens for Kinneys Automotive......my transmission after 375,000 rough miles decided it was time to stay stopped for good. The men at Kinneys were awesome! I called them with my situation, they were avle to give me a quote for fixing my transmission and had the work done in less time than expected......I am back on the road looking forward to my next 375,000 miles. I love my truck.....not just because it's paid off but she's apart of the family now. No way would I trust just anyone with my truck, and I enjoyed their GREAT CUSTOMER service and professionalism. Just after moving to Texas my Buick needed repair but I didn't know anyone in the area. We live close to Kinneys and they are a AAA shop so I decided to give them a try. . .my experience was awesome. Now three years later, they are the ones we trust with our 3 cars. My first contact was with Brian. . .he explained everything that was needed to get me back on the road and explained it in clear language so I could understand. They go over the car completely and will tell you recommended service but are understanding if the finances aren't there at the moment. This place appears to be a clean well run shop. They have a nice waiting area and donuts/snacks. I have a spare car that wont pass inspection and needed brakes and rotors. So I told them to make sure that the car would pass the emissions testing first before doing the other repairs. So I go to pick it up and there was not a new inspection sticker on it. They had completed the other repairs first and did not notify me about the inspection sticker. So I was stuck with a high repair bill on a car that I couldnt drive. They wanted me to leave it there longer after they already had it for two days. It seemed like every time I went to pick up my car from there the person in front of me was payng a bill of $600.00 or more. read more

Worst place I've ever been. Originally took my truck in to have the AC fixed. I get a huge list of things to be fixed. $1100 they said. I told them to just fix what I brought it in for. Got it down to $700. They fixed everything except for what I took it in for. So I left it there or another day. I get a call that it's ready. When I pick it up, I'm told that it's not fixed and that I need to spend more money with them. I'm going somewhere else. read more

I usually don't write these things but seeing what happens at these places some one should. My daughter dropped my car off for me I had the same problem previously and knew what was wrong. they quated me a price which was a little higherr than what I paid last time but it was convient after car was there they called an instead of the 235.00 plus 75.00 diagosstic it would be $675.00. 3 coil packs were out and 2 spark plugs. I paid the 75.00 fee and went and got my car. I took it to the place that I usually go to and they said 2 coil packs and 2 spark plugs were out fixed it for $328.00 and Kinnys wanted 600.00 plus. Seems like they want to get you up to the $600.00 mark as other people said every one seems about $600.00 read more

Extremely appreciative of the staff of Kinney's Automotive. I recently moved to Texas and don't know anything about the local businesses. Luckily, when my car broke down on the highway, my insurance company recommended Kinney's. They were not only able to diagnose the cause of the break down, but they took it upon themselves to do some research and find that there was a recall on the issue. I had no idea of the recall and could easily have been taken "for a ride". They were able to point me in the right direction and save me $5000 on a new fuel system.
