On Sunday night, we decided to finally try Kinzo after a friend recommended it, and we're so glad we did. The place is small and intimate, with a sushi bar in the center where you can watch the chefs prepare everything right in front of you, so I definitely recommend making a reservation. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered the mini omakase (10 courses), and every dish was amazing ... fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. There wasn't a single plate we didn't enjoy. We also met the owner, Chef Leo, who was very friendly and passionate about his sushi. He explained how carefully he selects his ingredients, even the rice, and it really shows in the flavor. You don't even need soy sauce because everything is already perfectly seasoned. The space is warm, modern, and very clean. This will definitely be one of our go to sushi spots from now on. Highly recommend.

I had one of the best sushi experiences of my life at this restaurant. The omakase was phenomenal with tremendous flavors and an amazing variety that kept every bite exciting. The service was top notch and made the evening feel truly special. The restaurant is elegantly decorated and the sushi chef was incredibly knowledgeable. While the omakase is certainly pricey, the experience was unforgettable and well worth it. I am so glad I tried it and will remember this meal for a long time.

It's our second time here and we enjoy it, but toggled between a 3 and a 4 star review. If I could, I'd give it a 3.75 for the following reasons. - The overall quality of their fish is good, but the standout is by far the ocean belly. We were hoping for more items to be stand outs for the price point. - We have tried three cold tastings to date and have only been impressed with Kapache Shiitake. It's worth getting if you're a fan of mushrooms. They brought out that flavor exceptionally well. - There isn't much regarding presentation for these dishes. The name of the dish is announced and the plate is set down. Typically, we see a bit more fanfare in the description of the dish composition or notes from the chef, but that didn't happen here. It's not a huge deal, but it is fairly standard for this type of dining experience. - I appreciate that they ended the meal with a sweet bite. It's thoughtful and allows patrons to try something they may not have selected for themselves.

Had an absolutely amazing experience at the Omakase at Kinzo. Fish was fresh and each bite was creative. Service was wonderful, chefs took the time to chat and explain each bite. Cocktails were made with all fresh ingredients and perfectly balanced. Can't wait to come back!

Fun fact, I found out about Kinzo because Dak Prescott and Leighton Vander Esch of the Dallas Cowboys ate here. Chef Kekoa & Jin do make good a good piece of sushi, albeit sometimes too heavy handed on the citris squeeze The appetizers are also pretty good as well. The environment can get pretty loud since the omakase seatings are not isolated but mixed in with the main dining area. This can make it hard sometimes to hear the chefs describe what it is you're eating.

KinZo Omakase--so glad it's close to home! I've enjoyed it again and again. The service is attentive, the fish incredibly fresh, and the sake stays perfectly chilled in its elegant vessel. It's the perfect spot to celebrate life's special moments or simply enjoy an intimate date night or dinner with loved ones. The new bar and side seating make it even better for hosting a group.

Is this the best sushi in DFW? I'd say so. I've been to countless sushi spots and this experience was insane. The sushi chef was really nice and made great recommendations for us to try. Please don't skip out on the Akamutsu, wow!!! I cannot wait to come back (literally, I've been dreaming about it).

It feels wrong rating this place so low when my original rating is a 3.75. Unfortunately, yelp doesn't allow decimal point rating. Kinzo undeniably serves good fish. Unfortunately, the preparation of the sushi leaves somewhat more to be desired. I feel particularly bad for the place because the quality of the fish definitely was in line with other great sushi places we've been to. The environment for top tier sushi in the DFW area is just very difficult. Simply having good fish doesn't cut it anymore. Preparation does. Here's what we got: Mini omakase: - [ ] Toro tartare: fresh and very balanced. Served in a beautiful bowl on a plate of ice - [ ] Santemori: yellow tail with gooseberry and raisin , oyster - absolutely delicious. So flavorful with the ponzu sauce, salmon - was alright. Felt it was too sweet for my liking. (left to right) - [ ] Sea bream madai nigiri: had a mint leaf in the nigiri that took away from the madai, ruining the balance. - [ ] Shimaaji (striped jack): slightly citrusy. Liked more than madai - [ ] Blue fine tuna: classic tuna that was the definition of good fish. - [ ] Chinmedai: house special: not the biggest fan. Primary flavors: wasabi and slight miso glaze - [ ] Ocean trout: best out of all the nigiri, but still nothing compared to other sushi restaurants - [ ] Snow crab temaki - [ ] Kamasu: barracuda - we ordered this separately, because we saw chef Jin making it with chilli oil. Unfortunately, when we had the nigiri, we couldn't taste the chilli oil at all. An astute observation my wife had: most of the toppings or enhancements were under the fish and above the bed of rice. Unlike other places where the enhancements are on top of the fish. All-in-all, we wouldn't come back here for sashimi or nigiri, but would visit to try their hot plates which they seem very adept at making.

I really enjoyed our dining experience here at Kinzo! There aren't fancy omakase, sushi restaurants in Frisco area and we always have to drive to downtown Dallas area for fancy quality sushi but Kinzo met our expectations! The server and the sushi chefs were very friendly and nice. The sushi was super fresh & delicious. I like that the sushi bar seating area is larger than most other sushi restaurants, it's the big main spot in the middle when you walk in. If you're looking for high quality, fancy sushi in the suburbs of north dallas, I highly recommend Kinzo! It is on the pricier side compared to other sushi spots in the area but it's comparable to the fancy sushi restaurants in downtown dallas! We'll definitely go back often when we want fresh good quality sushi nearby :)

Atmosphere - well done! As described, intimate, classy, certainly a couple steps above your local sushi joint. Service - nice, not overbearing, but sushi chefs weren't super outgoing or friendly, which I realize is hard to come by, but a real treat when you're sitting at the bar. Food - certainly the best sushi I've had in DFW. Artistic, exacting, perfectly fresh, perfectly presented. Creative. Amazing flavor profiles. Here's the but...and a star removed. Value. I'll spend a ton of money on food (mild embarrassment over that in writing now) but c'mon! My edamame was 1/2 cup, maybe 3/4. Nigiri is priced singly and twice what you normally pay. Maki are tiny, $25. Couldn't you surprise me with good value somewhere!?

Kinzo $50 Sunday lunch omakase is a great deal and will give you a glimpse of their $200 standard omakase. Be warned though, it is not going to fill you up at all. My party ordered a la carte to feel satisfied before leaving. $50 is a pretty affordable price for omakase but don't expect too much.

Amazing sushi, so fresh, presentation is beautiful! Best sushi I have had in years. The staff and service top tier too. Highly recommend!

Truly, a culinary experience in the middle of nowhere. This place is a hidden gem and every bite here is curated with levels of intricacy. Our server was very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. The Sakura Masu was a divine bite from their daily specials. The nigiri was on point with buttery otoro that melted away perfectly. We loved the rolls and the crème brûlée dessert was absolute perfection. Highly recommend this place for date night special occasions or perfect sushi.

    Ask the Community - Kinzo

    Do they serve alcohol? Wine?

    Yes

If I wanted to stop by and grab a table of 2, would I need to get a reservation? I checked the website and didn't see an option.

I called Kinzo and asked the same question. You have to make a reservation unless you are sitting at the bar. If there is no room at the bar, you are out of luck. They have an above average, excellent, bar staff. Chris the bartender is the best!… Read more

Is there a take out menu? Wife wanted me to bring her some sushi.

Standard menu, you can order anything to go. Missing out on the experience there, but you will get some awesome sushi!!! Recommend the Natsu Maki, best roll on the menu! Decadent.
