Tucked in this little plaza is this gem. Free parking in their shared lot and some neighborhood parking available around the area. There's a big community table inside for multiple small parties or a couple bigger ones, some 2 seaters, and a couple other seating options. It's a small, cozy, inviting, restaurant but they also have the option to rent their space out for small parties! We got some drinks to try and they were so very good! They were made well, balanced, and creative. The flavors they offered were very good and unique. We got their Pork Xiao Long Bao, small Chicken Karaage, and Pepper Tuna to start. The XLB was good but not memorable, flavorful and small bites. The Pepper Tuna was also pretty good but I would probably only get again if I was craving. Their Karaage was phenomenal, very flavorful, crispy, and made well. We really enjoyed this appetizer. We got the Tan Tan Men and Seafood Ramen. The Tan Tan Men was delicious, made well, umami, flavorful, and fulfilling. I think the broth was delicious and everything paired well together. I would recommend this dish. The Seafood Ramen was good but, I didn't feel the seafood was too memorable and the flavor was very light. I wish their ramen had a bit more topping variety but overall, made well and delicious. I will preface this review to say I had a takeout order. The order was ready pretty quickly. I had stopped by from a neighboring shop. When I got home, the first thing I noticed was that here was a lot of pork and it was delicious. Then I noticed that only the bamboo shoots were in with it. Where were the bean sprouts and scallions? I thought they forgot them. When I stirred up the broth it was full of bean sprouts! Like more than I would ever expect, but they were soggy from the warm broth and the scallions might've been there but they were thin and flaccid. I asked for extra spice to be added and it wasn't that spicy but the flavor was good. With ramen I expect the vegetables to add texture and freshness and soggy bean sprouts are not that and the nice punch that scallions give was missing. The eat in space was small but inviting. I just ordered from here because I was craving some soup since I've been sick. I ordered the Tan Tan Men soup, pork xiaolong buns, and the pan fried gyoza. The soup was phenomenal. It's a large bowl and they package the broth separately so that the noodles don't get gummy. The xiaolong buns were sooo yummy. I thought that they were soup dumplings but I think they're just steamed pork dumpling. The gyoza was yummy but the other two items were definitely better. Husband and I have never been here before. We wanted a sushi appetizer so we figured we'd try it out since it's so close to home. The place is super cute and clean. Not much seating. We got the sushi pictured. I absolutely loved the High Street roll but they all exceeded my expectations. Everything was fresh and delicious. This will definitely be my new go to sushi spot! 10/10 for sure! My nine-year-old also got the kids Ramen which I think was like seven dollars and way worth it. It was an adult size bowl with noodles, broth, sliced chicken breast and scallions. We all loved it more than anticipated. Service was mediocre. Not good nor bad. From the moment we got off the plane the grandkids were squawking about ramen and Kirin. Couldn't drive here fast enough! I've always given them a soft 4/5 because the folks here are incredibly kind and polite. Anything we ask for, they immediately fetch, no delay or argument. I have to tip extra and have no qualms doing so. Overall, the food is certainly very good, but not great. You may remember that we will not eat ramen (health risk). They have so many creations outside ramen. Three of their very best appetizers, Kimchi, Shrimp Tempura and Beef Meatballs (with sweet & sour sauce) can start you in the right direction. From that point, they offer several rolls. Our favorites are the Green Dragon and the Tiger Rolls. The portion sizes aren't the greatest but the price is reasonable. I love the room. A friend and I have been wanting to try a ramen place together and I'm so glad we chose Kirin! The noodles were so good and chewy, the soup base was delicious, the pork, bamboo shoots and other toppings were just the right amount of crunch and added texture for the dish. My son got the egg rolls and soup dumplings and gobbled them up. The chicken karaage was SO good! The small plate comes with 4-5 huge pieces. The chicken is so crunchy and juicy! The only thing I didn't care for was how much fat was wrapped up inside of them. It created a weird texture, but it did add to the flavor. The service was great. Our food came out pretty quickly. There isn't a ton of seating, so a large group isn't the best. But there is enough seating for a group of 4-6 if needed at the large family style table. I really want to go back and try their sushi! Visited 23 JUL 2024 I really like what they chose to do with a small space in a strip of stores along a busy street. It is clean and simple furniture, there is a row of high table/chairs down the middle and more traditional tables at the ends of the room. I didn't notice/don't remember much on the walls. We have had Pho many times but there are not a lot of ramen places right near us in central Maryland. We were in town visiting family so this gave us a chance to stop into Kirin. I am always happy when I see a cultural group enjoying a meal of the cuisine I am about to try. My wife got a Miso based bowl and I got the Shoyu. The presentation was simple and attractive. The taste was just complex enough for me to enjoy the slight differences from Pho. It was very filling. We also had for the table crispy rice topped with tuna tartare (it was okay, but I'd likely skip that if we came back). They also have a broad range of whiskeys and I think they also consider themselves a whisky bar. Maybe that happens late at night or on the weekends. While we were there it was a pretty straight forward dinner spot. Not cheap, but certainly fair for the quality and presentation (4 adults, 1 toddler $80, no alcohol). We visited this nice restaurant off of High Street. It has some parking behind the building/strip as well as street parking. We went in around 3:30pm and it wasn't busy at all. We ordered the Tan Tan Men Ramen, Shoyu Ramen and Tuna Crispy Rice. The portion sizes were nice and worth it in my opinion. Tuna Crispy Rice - The rice is very crispy and crunchy so if you're a fan of textures you'll love this. They give you a generous portion of tuna which is spicy. This item is great for sharing. For some reason I can't quit this place although I'm never blown away! I think it's because I like the selection of appetizers & dumplings/dim sum. The ramen is unimpressive but never terrible. The atom Yum is delish but it's definitely spicy. All the dumplings are good but they don't pack the dipping sauce well & it's always spilled on them. The lava egg yolk buns are one of my favorites. The staff were very nice and the place had a fun vibe and was clean. My only complaint was that my food came out a solid 10-15 minutes before the ramen bowls. I've had my eye on them since Chatime closed. Had to try their food! They don't have sushi on Tuesday's, so I settled for the Tan Tan Men ramen and ordered crystal shrimp dumplings. The food here is amazing! Best ramen in Columbus for sure. I am a ramen fiend and so far the only place comparable to Kirin is Hinodoya in San Francisco Japan town. The noodles here are perfect and the broth is rich. Selection is good so everyone can find something they like. I would recommend the Karaage ramen or (my personal favorite) the Tan Tan men ramen. A new fast casual restaurant with great food and service. Ate there with a friend and our food was terrific. My friend ordered the meatballs and the gyoza and really liked both of those items. I ordered the Raksa Curry and it was supposed to be hot but it was a little too hot for me so I asked for a lemon wedge to squeeze on it and then it was perfect. It was loaded with broccoli and chicken and had a ton of flavor. The soup and bowl entrees that I saw, including my own, were large portions. My kids and I decided to have an indulgent dinner but wanted to stay a little close to home, and Kirin Noodle Sushi & Bar came to mind. I've often come for a quick bite for lunch but never had dinner there, and boy, were we in for a treat! We started with drinks... a glass of Old Fashioned for my son (and yes, he's old enough to drink legally), and a glass of one of their specials, Black Orchid. I'm not one for mixed drinks usually, but the Black Orchid was delicious... light, fruity, and a little decadent. For appetizers, we ordered their gyoza and shrimp tempura. They went down very well with our drinks. My daughter held off drinks until our dinner came. She ordered two small bottles of Mio Sparkling sake to have with our main dishes. Next came two specialty sushi rolls. One was the Sexy Beach, presented as a little pyramid of bite-sized orgasms (pardon my description, they were just heavenly). The other was the Super Tiger Roll. This one has shrimp tempura inside... just yummm! For our main course, my daughter had the Seafood Ramen, my son had the Chashu Ramen, and I had the Unagi Dongu. We all did taste each other's order, as families do, and I'll have to say, the broth in each of the ramens were oh so good! Both were rich in depth and just exploded in your mouth. The portions were generous, too. My dish, the Unagi rice bowl came hot, and the eel was cooked to perfection. I've got to say, I have a soft spot for unagi. When it's on the menu, I find it hard not to order it. The sparkling sake was just perfect for all of our dishes. It was light and dry and never overpowered the food but only enhanced the flavors. In speaking with the owner, the sake offerings will expand even more soon, and I, for one, can't wait! I've been hoping for a nearby place that offered superior quality sake, and now we'll finally have it in Clintonville. Everything was delicious, fresh, and looked absolutely beautiful. Third visit overall in maybe the last 3 years? and hoo boy, this order did not connect at all. Not even a little bit. A tragically unpalatable take-out end to a crappy day: ain't that just the worst? So after a quick sweep of Clintonville-local Asian soups for something restrained & comforting for a sick hubby, I came across some nice photos of Kirin's not-ramens, settling on the Vegetable Soy/Miso w/ green onions & bean sprout add-ons. And, well, there's no nice way to put this, so let's pull off the band aid: my better half stated that it tasted like "a compost heap with bouillon cube". I tried it out and yes: none of the veggies were, how you say, prepped or cooked beyond being finely cut?, and the extra soft tofu was just cubed out from the shrink. Like, it disintegrated on the spoon. Such appetizing visual splendor! I simply have no idea what this soup is supposed to be about, but I can tell you there was no flavor (e.g., acidity/heat/salt/fat/texture/umami) to elevate its heap of disconnected veggies and uncommitted noodles. I ordered the Chicken Yakisoba for myself and sadly must report a similar experience: bites without the modest nibbles of dark chicken thighs were slightly sour and musty (that is, unpalatable)... but even with the chicken, there was a *pronounced* restraint with the fat, salt, and (ahem) flavor. Terminal restraint. No one could tell you what yakisoba sauce tasted like after sampling this, aside from something faintly undesirable. Cabbage was also a bit too tough, not enough carrots, yadda yadda but again: this dish was afraid of its shadow if its shadow was packing more than a pinch of salt. Kirin fans might aver, "why did you order those items?" and suggest "Stick with the ramen and sushi," to which I'd certainly nod my head. Well, where are these Kirin stans? I haven't seen -any- diners after 7:30 the three times I've been. And while I have fond memories of their shishito peppers from two years back... why would I want to bother going in on Kirin's heavy hitters if two random items on their menu show such allergic disdain for flavor? Hey, why does any restaurant bother with items they don't want to produce in 2025? There's too much competition for your sushi and ramen dollars, and it's expensive out here! Allow me to end with a positive for cosmic balance: our food was prepared perfectly on time and service was friendly enough for our 5 seconds of interaction. See y'all at Meshikou! read more

I was excited to see a Ramen shop pop up in the Clintonville area. It's a much-needed addition to the area! The service was friendly and helpful, but dang were they overwhelmed. I understand lots of places are short-staffed, but they were really struggling. There was a line of Door Dashers, Uber Eats, and GrubHub drivers lined out the door. Most of them waited 30+ minutes for their orders, one guy was there nearly an hour. Our food finally came out and it was cold. They ran out of one of the items we ordered and just gave us a refund because they really had nothing to substitute. The food itself was okay, but nobody checked on us because, again, they were so overwhelmed. Also, because there was a side salad on the same plate, the dressing made the chicken a little soggy. * Xiao Long Bao: the restaurant specializes in Japanese cuisine, but also offers a couple of dim sum dishes. I got Xiao Long Bao, and it was good. * Tom Yum Noodle: the soup was refreshing but it was lacking some depth of the Tom Yum flavor. There were decent amount of shrimp in it and the noodle ate well with it. * Chatsu Miso Ramen: the chashu meat was very thick and big so it made it a bit dry and hard to eat. It was quiet and relaxed which I really enjoyed although I'm not sure if it is always like that. I loved the chicken karaage.... It was absolute gas !! It comes with a cabbage salad that was one of my favorite things I've eaten in a while. The edamame was also very good and the vegetable roll was great. My only criticism would be that the rolls were not extravagant or anything special. They were good but not extremely good, if that makes sense. The restaurant is in the middle of a strip with the parking behind back. We went in and they took our order at the table but had us pay as soon as we ordered, which I think is a little weird. We were gonna get more but didn't expect that. The service was minimal. They brought out all the food at once, we personally wish they staggered it. All the dim sum options were delicious and was the highlight of the meal for sure we got the soup dumplings, gyoza, chase pork buns and golden lava buns. The lava buns I'd never seen before they were like a sweet dessert and were cool to try something I'd never had. The ramen was good but nothing amazing flavor wise. The sushi I was disappointed in the bites alone were massive. They put a piece of lemon, rind and all that isn't pleasant to eat on it. The roll was kind of flavorless. I came here with a couple of friends for my first time (and their second time). Although I like ramen, I don't typically eat it out a whole lot, so I decided to play it safe with the Miso Ramen. It had a great taste and was a HUGE portion. There was a shaker full of dried spice to add to it on the table so I could control the heat level, which was appreciated. To drink, I got the Thai Coffee, which was good but perhaps a little overpriced. As a starter, I ordered the Chicken Karaage, which we split amongst the table. It was super hot, temperature wise, and extremely juicy with a great crunchy skin. My friends enjoyed their ramen, but only one was not a fan of the steamed spinach in her Shoyu Ramen. They had also ordered the Pork Gyoza which was really tasty, but seemed more like a steamed soup dumpling and not as crispy as we were expecting. This is the second time I've gotten Kirin ramen and it hit the spot on a rainy day. I was able to call in for pick up and it was ready within 15 minutes. They did not ask for a name for my order which I thought was odd, however u got my order. I got the Spicy Miso and it had such a great kick to it. There were a few pieces of chicken thigh that was not great to chew but all in all very filling. There's not a huge dinning area but super cute lunch date spot. A great comforting bowl of ramen, and great service. Multiple options to choose from, but not overwhelmingly so. The AJO ramen is amazing when you have a cold or feel under the weather. Lots of garlic to aid with healing. I've ordered from Kirin via delivery and in person. Compared to other places, the serving size is a bit larger. I also enjoy how it's packaged via delivery. Much easier to consume than other options. The bowl is about as big as Tensuke's. It's veggie forward (but have meat options as well), which I find refreshing. I tried the fried chicken as an appetizer and it was nice sized portion even for the small. There were four or five crispy boneless chicken pieces that had a unique flavor and it was tender and fresh, I really enjoyed it and will come back just for this. I also tried the curry chicken ramen. It was a big bowl with a large portion size. The broth was tasty with a little heat but not too spicy. The broth was kind of thick almost like a gravy.
