This was my first time visiting Kisamos Taverna, a place I've always wanted to try after hearing so many great reviews and constantly walking by whenever I'm in Steveston Village. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to the hype. While I can't fault the food it was really good and the portions were very generous the service was disappointing from the start. Our server came across as condescending, from the way our table was adjusted to how we were spoken to while ordering food and drinks, which immediately set a bad tone for the evening. I genuinely enjoyed the food and liked the atmosphere, but the way I was treated left me with a bad vibe. Would I come back? I'm not sure. I'd like to think maybe it was an off day and things might be different next time, but for now, I'm on the fence. read more

We come here when we are craving for Greek food. My husband is a fan of their roast lamb and he think Kisamos got it right. I've always ordered Chicken Souvlaki, 5 big chunky pieces on a stick. I would say it's a hit or miss. I've been here and the Greek potatoes are done right with enough lemon taste but sometimes it's not. But overall, it's a great neighborhood restaurant. It's been in the same location for 25 years. Owner Marino is very friendly. We came on a Saturday night and it was packed full of patrons and Skip the Dishes, and other competitors were non stop picking up food by the door. It was a busy busy night for sure. read more

I was in the mood for some authentic Greek food and didn't want to drive all the way to Greektown to get some. Upon a yelp search, Kisamos was very highly rated and also located in Steveston, which is close to me. I was quite surprised that I've never heard of this restaurant before. There weren't too many dine-in customers at 7:30 pm (they close at 9), but the entire time consisted largely of delivery orders plus takeout orders. Tables were quite spread out and spacious, which is always appreciated. As a group of 2, we decided to order the Kisamos Platter for 2 ($54.95). They started us off with a Greek Salad and Pita -- both were delicious. I especially loved the salad because of how much feta cheese they loaded on. The pita was soft and tender. First thing I noticed about the platter: IT WAS HUGE. Not only could it feed 2, it could feed us for the next 2 meals!! Honourable mentions: I especially liked the calamari and lamb chops. The lamb wasn't gamey at all, albeit a bit chewy. It was seasoned quite well. The calamari was crispy and super tasty either with the tsatziki or hummus. I think this calamari is a top 2 calamari pick for me of all time. I would definitely return again when I'm in the mood for Greek food. A definite highlight of the evening is the whole place sang Happy Birthday , twice , for other patrons in the house who were celebrating . This is not a huge restaurant by any means so the feeling of coziness and togetherness is somewhat welcoming . Another reason why this neighbourhood joint is so popular - generous portions at reasonable prices . I mean the two of us shared a kalamari appy and moussaka entree and we couldn't finish both ! It doesn't seem like there's a lot of Greek spots in Richmond but Greek was what mom requested for her birthday and this was her favourite spot to get Greek from in Richmond so we had to get it. They have an online menu and are available for takeout and delivery. It was a seamless call-in process and pickup as well. Their restaurant space is big and they even have a window for pickup so there's no direct contact with the restaurant staff. You just stick your arm into their window and tap your card and voila, food is put on the table and you can grab and go! Their lamb and keftethes were definitely our favourites of the night. We were in the area for the night and this restaurant was close to the hotel. We had 2 dogs with us so we're limited to the takeout option There are picnic tables across the street situated on a lovely grass area where we enjoyed our meal. We placed our order and were told to return in 20 mins to pick up but when we did return 25 mins later we needed to wait outside another 10mins. We ordered the lamb dinner and a side of kalamari to share. Reading reviews I heard the Greek Salad was notable, as was the kalamari. I would disagree on both. The Greek salad was mostly cucumber. The kalamari wasn't outstanding, rather heavy and greasy. The lamb was very good. It was the hiloght of the meal. As a long time (previous) Richmond resident, I appreciate Kisamos and the presence it brings to the Steveston community. It's definitely a staple if you come to this area. The staff are all wonderful and friendly. We've been here a number of times previously, but as of late, I found their food has lacked in flavour. It's still delicious, but I remember it tasting way better several yrs ago. Not sure if their cook has changed or something recently. Get the lamb! It was a great find, we actually came in the area looking for a different restaurant which as it turned out was under construction. This place had great reviews and it didn't disappoint. The roasted lamb plate was of course the winner. The meat was very soft and there was a lot of it! The pork ribs were great too. We've dined in here before pre-COVID and was impressed with the tasty meal and huge portion (at such a reasonable price)! We ordered take out this time around and everything was packed nicely in a paper bag. Portion is definitely smaller compared to dining in, but you will get full from the carbs (rice, potatoes and pita). Taste was decent. They didn't give a lot of meat and some were chewy, but flavour was quite pleasant. I enjoyed the rice though it was a tad oily. The calamari was average to be honest. It didn't really have a lot of seasoning so was a tad bland. My favourite was the pita because they were soft and pillowy. A perfect complement to the dishes. We came here about 2 weeks ago and while it wasn't the worst food we had, it was definitely not the best. The best way to describe it is that it's forgettable since I can't think of anything that I loved or actually hated about the food. It was just... ok. What did stick out to me though was the service. The server didn't come to check up on us once or ask if we wanted more water. When we tried to flag her down, I swear we made eye contact. My partner even asked me did she just ignore you. There were plenty of people working so you can't even blame lack of servers causing a giant rush (we were also only one table out of 4 or 5 other groups that was there). In my opinion, this is the best greek food in vancouver so far. I haven't tried any other better greek food around here. The lamb is just good. As you may know, lambs usually tend to have a pungent smell, but kisamos taverna served it well. However, the chicken is just okay though. The moussaka is the best in my opinion. My husband and I always like trying Greek restaurants. We're glad we went early (a little after 5pm) on a Monday since the place was nearly full by the time we left. He had the lamb souvlakia, and I ordered the roast lamb with no rice and extra salad without the cheese. Both were quite good, and I gave my husband some of my meat because the portion was so generous. It was also very tender. The roast potatoes were perfectly lemony. Fabulous service and great food but in all the delivery services available they don't supply the same things to all platform. Uber eats vs skip the dishes we can get single items from Uber eats and in the sko the dishes you are forced to purchase a huge amount of food. there needs to be a common menu for all food in all delivery servic platform. it is so sad to see that one company doing strange things for different companies missing out on more customers for single items for all menus items. please fix this problem please make the delivery menu the same for all companies or you will loose business or parties that need help for events too. single items are requied too by many customer. read more

The flavours are fantastic and very outstanding! Very soft and tender. The meat slides right off the bone. Very well seasoned and comes with a side of sauce which is super garlic and creamy! I don't know how to describe the service at the place but it's horrible especially the lady who take orders and do payment. The lamb shank was delicious. Juicy, moist, tender. We also ordered the mezethes platter for 2 and for almost 30$ it was alright. The best thing on it were the dolmathes (grape vine stuffed with rice and herbs). The set came with only 4 garlic prawns which looked really sad. The tiropitakia (cheese wrapped with phyllis pastry) was ok. The greek style meatballs would have tasted 10 times better if they added less salt and cooked it throw. Unfortunately one of my meatballs were still raw in the center. Usually I like my meatballs and burgers medium rare, but because I didn't know if they ground their meat fresh I didn't want to chance it. The kalamari was good but it's hard to mess that up. Great Greek food in a comfortable setting in Steveston. I came here on a Sunday at 5:00 pm with no reservations, and I was seated at the table right away. This is a family run restaurant and the server was very friendly and personable. It was nice to hear a server talk about the weather and other non-food related talk before asking us about what to order. I had the roast lamb which came with a large portion of rice, two large potatoes, Greek salad and tzatziki. The roast lamb was huge, and it was served with minted gravy which good, but it did have a considerable amount of fat in the meat. I did enjoy everything else on the plate, and I would recommend this place if you want Greek and you're in this area. Just make sure you come hungry. read more

Food is overpriced for what it is and it's disgustingly oily and fatty. Maybe if you're doing keto you'll love their fatty meat including lamb, but even their rice is soggy with oil. Such a cute little restaurant in Steveston. Friendly owner and staff. Came in with my friend and the lace got packed super quickly. I got the saganaki (fried cheese) to share and had the roast lamb for my main. The lamb fell off the bone and was super tender and juicy. Friday night dinners, my fav thing to do after a week of work! Last night we decided to go for Greek food and was attempting to go to Mad Greek, to my surprise it was closed. I didn't want to go Felico because it's on the pricier end and reservation is always require! Doing my routine search on Yelp, I found Kisamos and seeing that it's close to home, we decided to give this place a try! The place is kind cozy and the seating is a bit tight. To my surprise the food portion is pretty big and the taste is actually good! Restaurants with big portions are usually not my liking due to the quality of the food... The prices are moderate! A platter for two is around $40-$45. Most of the appetizers range from $10.95 ~ $13.95. We ordered a platter for two, an appetizer and a dessert and the bill came to be $65 before tax. We had enough leftover for brunch today! I particularly love the Greek salad!!! We have been customers for 20 years, the food was always tasty, portions generous, prices fair and good service. We had dinner a few days ago and the food has definitely changed. The portions have been reduced, the food was bland. The servers were friendly and efficient, no complaints there. Two of us in our party of three ordered lamb Youvetsi. It was terrible, the chunks of lamb were either full of fat or so tough and leathery that we couldn't chew it, there was also very few pieces of lamb, certainly not what I would expect for $24.95. The Greek salad was small and very oily, no lemon or oregano - totally bland. We told the owner or manager that the meat was very tough and she didn't care and we left hungry, we didn't just want to eat a pile of orzo with no lamb. Food came out quick and well paced. There was lots of it! The platters are plentiful and all tasty. We had the appetizer platter which had a bit of everything. Actually that's a huge meal in itself. Plus we ordered the meat platter meal for two ( good for the four of us) and the garlic prawn plate. The rice and potatoes are always my favourite, even if I can only eat a teensy bit. Carbs make me dizzy so I don't eat much. Despite the fact I made an error in ordering way too much food and we had tons of calamari ( you can never get enough of those little deep fried morsels). Our new friend liked the meal. It did come out to a hefty bill, but yeah, it was worth it. Sangria goes well with the meal. Would I come again? Of course. Would I recommend this place? Duh, yeah, yes. But still on the hunt for that elusive home cooked Greek restaurant with offerings besides the regular restaurant fare. Vegetarian? There's something's for you here. Vegan? went for family dinner at our old greek fav and left very satisfied... since it was walking distance from where we lived, we thought why not bike and have dinner there...been awhile anyways since we've been. had a reservation so was promptly seated...place was busy as usual either for take out or dine in. just never lost its small village charm. we ordered the meat platter and a lamb chomps platter. food came hot and smelled really good. meat platter had so much food and variety it was greek heaven for me. lol. it had lamb chops, 2 pork souvlaki meatballs, 2 large chicken souvlaki skewers, and other greek things i cannot spell..lol. again, i will let the picts do the talking.. lamb chops were marinated well and tender to eat. none of that chewy gooey texture. souvalakis were awesome and grilled to perfection...all the side dishes and greek treats were excellent as well. only downside was that the owners or more senior servers never smiled when taming your order and became a bit grumpy when i asked a a bit of taztiki sauce to go with the pita bread...but relented in the end. maybe coz bis is good that they didnt care...but the younger servers were attentive. even refilling water glasses seemed like a chore to the senior servers... but anyhow, food is excellent! wont find any better greek food in richmond! prices have gone up though...more expensive than stephos for sure. but we still ended up having leftover for take out! happy eating!! read more

The best roast lamb ever! You know it's done right when it doesn't taste gamey. It was generously sized so you get a good amount of meat. As if that wasn't enough, it came with a side Greek salad, rice, and roast potato. There was an appetizer share platter that was perfect for two smaller appetites. It was a good sampler of their calamari, garlic prawns, rice wrapped in grape leaf, meatballs, and cheese in phyllo pastry. The meatballs were delicious, very flavorful; calamari was lightly fried, rice in grape leaf was tart, and you can't go wrong with phyllo wrapped cheese! Service was pleasant and friendly. Didn't have to wait for a table on a weekday evening. Free street parking if you can find a spot. Definitely worth coming back. read more

I have no choice but to give this Greek restaurant 2 stars because of the fatty roast lamb, small unsatisfying portions and so so service. The place really deserves 1.5 stars. While tender and tasty it should never be served to paying customers. See my pic with the fatty parts. Service was meh and this establishment is a on the frugal side. The pita bread they provided was tiny and very few. More importantly, it wasn't basted with hot butter or oil as is customary in Greek restaurants. It was very dry like sawdust. It wasn't whole grain because that costs more than regular flour. It also didn't come with tzatziki sauce. However the entree did but it was small too. My partner ordered the calamari. It was simply ok. Not great. The baked potato and rice were fine but the rice too greasy. The Greek salad was on the plate not by itself. Again the portion was small with little cheese. It's evident they're rationing their food. No water was served on the table. One had to ask for it. Prices aren't bad because portions are small. The other Greek place up the street isn't rated highly. With Mad Greek permanently closed, there is little competition in Richmond for decent Greek restaurants. Hence no incentive for this place to improve. And remember, Greeks don't let their family and trusted friends dine out for Greek food in Richmond. read more
