FYI, some of these reviews are for the old location and some are for the new location. Kitchen Little didn't go out of business. It simply moved to the marina approximately three miles away. And apparently their off-the-beaten-path location hasn't hurt their business. On one cold fall morning with all boats out-of-water and all tourists gone, I found the inside of this restaurant to be packed with lots of customers. My omelet, toast, and hash browns were OK. Nothing super stellar. But service and the cook time were nice and fast. The owner (I'm guessing he was the owner) stood inside and greeted all customers. From what I can tell, this place gets its fair share of repeat customers. And I can understand why people keep coming back....because you can get a full satisfying breakfast in a relaxed casual atmosphere for around $10. read more

The current location is BEAUTIFUL, although a bit of adventure to find. Truthfully it's probably easiest to reach by boat, which is perfect because it's right on the water. The dining area is spacious, so is the out door patio (living in Florida now has spoiled me with air conditioning, and I no longer search out the perfect patio dining experience as I fear the oppressive heat of the sunshine state, however the offshore breeze is very steady so you wouldn't feel overheated). Food is basic breakfast food, service is fast and attentive. I miss the tiny former location with its intimate dining experience and mugs of regulars decorating the walls, but the charm is still there and you get great bang for your buck. read more

This is our spot! We have been going to Kitchen Little regularly for years now and have never been disappointed! Typically it is just the two of us but we have brought in crowds of 5 or even 10 people and everyone always leaves happy. The food and coffee are second to none especially the eggs benny. This is the gold standard for my wife as she will comment at other restaurants on how they compare to Kitchen Little. Personally I go with the Lobster Benny or an omelet and Jimmy and his team are always happy to mix it up for me with a wide variety of unique specials. Plus they have the best pancakes in the area! Bobby at the door is always a welcome friendly sight when walk in, Patti knows we have coffee and ice water to start and Jimmy makes his way over to chat with us and make sure everything is perfect. Brunch on a very warm Saturday in July even here by the water it was still toasty. Wait for this very popular restaurant was 30 minutes so we just walked around the harbor checking out the boats docked at Mystic River Yacht Club. Seated outside on deck overlooking the Mystic River was great and atmospheric. All omelettes were cooked well and tasty, not rubbery or greasy. Our table split a order of buttermilk pancakes topped with a touch of cinnamon sugar that were delicious. Glad we did because the omelettes were not particularly large or filling. I ordered the regular Eggs Benedict and they did not even come with a sliver of orange much less some inexpensive hash browns and was a bit disappointed because the Hollandaise sauce is clearly NOT homemade. Maybe because I am from New Orleans, I know what real hollandaise sauce taste like t and this ain't the stuff, folks. Hollandaise sauce had a peculiar powdery taste with not even a hint of butter or lemon and it's the Famous Benedicts that Kitchen Little is known for! We have been visiting Mystic for a few years now and we finally found our go-to breakfast place. We stopped in this morning before heading home and we couldn't be happier with our last stop in Mystic. Every dish wash absolutely delicious. We have two picky toddlers and they were both accommodated without a problem. Staff was friendly and helpful. If you're thinking about stopping in, do it! Get there early to be seated right away! It's situated literally in a local mystic neighborhood, the restaurant is attached to a local marina. Kitchen Little has a tiny dining area but they offer a incredible brunch menu that is reasonably priced as well. Great view from the dining area, outdoor seating available, coffee was not acrid mud-water cut with vinegar, and a mimosa that hit the spot. The two others ordered the crab scrambled eggs (I don't quite remember I was enveloped in the bliss of my own meal for a few moments). Everyone made the muffled ooooos and ahs and mmmmph mmhmms that go along with "my face is stuffed with food but I'm loving this" feeling. Good conversation was had. The dining room was busy. Very busy but nobody was yelling over anyone else to hear each other. The service was amazing, probably some of the best service I've ever had at a restaurant. Would I go here again? Yes. My boyfriend and I ended up at this cute breakfast place after a night at Mohegan casino. The restaurant is right on the water which was really nice especially first thing in the morning. We were seated right away, and though we didn't have a table near the view of the water, the atmosphere was very lovely and felt comfortable. Our servers were very very friendly and the service was very quick. I ended up having the lobster eggs Benedict. By far one of the best breakfast meals I've had in a long time. I was visiting Mystic and looked up on Yelp what would be a good breakfast spot to visit. I certainly was not dissapointed. It is located a little out of the main business areas but come summer that will be a good thing as it is in a marina with nice water views. The staff was very friendly and helpfull and the food was sensational. My son got the Portuguese breakfast and I went with traditional eggs and corned beef hash. My son absolutely loved his meal and for me although the hash wasn't the best I have had it was cooked the way I like it and everything else with it was superior. By Dan Pearson Typically, in drawing up a business plan for an eatery, it wouldn't be prudent to stick your restaurant up on the second floor of a marina supply store in a seasonal community and serve only breakfast and lunch and, on weekends, breakfast alone. But Kitchen Little has the following and the reputation to pull it off, a reputation they earned over many years in a highly visible spot on Route 27 between Mystic Village and the Mystic Seaport. That spot was indeed very, very little, so much so, that part of the marvel wasn't just the food but watching patrons and staff execute a gymnastics floor routine to move chairs and deliver coffee. The owners loved that location but were forced to vacate in 2012 when the rent became prohibitive. Now, Kitchen Little finds itself in a much more spacious spot in the Mystic River Marina on Mason's Island (even though it still gets packed high season and weekends,) where it continues to have a wide open waterfront view and to serve classics alongside Kitchen Little trademarks, including the spicy Portuguese Fisherman and the Portuguese Benedict, which both pay homage to the generations who fished out of Stonington. It's not just the food, however, that makes the restaurant so strong, it's also efficient service and creative specials. The sign out on Route 1 is at ankle level and the size of a bumper sticker. From the minute we were seated at Kitchen Little, we were rushed. Myself and my partner were waiting on two other people and they sat us at a table for 6. Once my partner and I were seated we were asked 3 times within a 10 minute period where the other guests were, and we were told we may have to give up the table. After the last time were questioned about our friends, they moved us to a table for 4 across the restaurant (I absolutely understand why this was necessary). Our guests arrived as we moved tables and we sat down to eat. Once seated, we waited about 30 minutes for a waitress to come and take our orders. Our food came out in a short amount of time and was delicious, however there was an order of pancakes that never came out. As we sat eating, we were asked when we would be done as there was a line of people waiting to be seated. Eventually we were asked to wait OUTSIDE for our check. When we went to walk outside, as asked, we were chased down by a waitress who accused us of leaving without paying for our meal, however we were simply doing what was asked of us. It's a small place but very inviting. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the #8 Mystic special and it was delicious. It's scrambled eggs with fresh crab and cream cheese, comes with a side of raisin bread. The portion size was right on as i felt full but not over stuffed.
