The bride and I planned a pit stop on our way back from a wedding on the cape and thanks to Yelp, we found this fantastic restaurant which is located just outside of the busy downtown area. Fairly busy Sunday afternoon but we were quickly seated at the raw bar with a great view of the kitchen, which BTW is a well oiled machined and fun to watch, not quite as crazy as the Bear, but impressive. Tuna tartar to start followed by some delicious cherrystones then we split the Mussels in coconut milk with lemon grass and cilantro and some amazing sour dough bread for dipping. 10/10!!! read more

This was a rustic space with a large bar. They also had a treehouse that overlooked the river where seating could be obtained. I was here for happy hour, which had some appealing deals. The regular menu looked creative and appetizing as well. I had their daily oyster ($1.50 each), mussels ($10), and their cutie smash burger ($9). The oysters were from sixpenny on the day I attended. They were fresh and went down smoothly. The mignonette that was served with it was interesting. It seemed to have some sort of orange juice incorporated, but who knows. It was not bad. I preferred the cocktail sauce and horseradish provided. The mussels came in a coconut lemongrass broth with chili, cilantro, and lime. These were some of the freshest mussels I had in a while. It was noticeable to me from the feel and taste. The coconut lemongrass broth was a nice compliment and very flavorful. The burger was a quarter pound smash patty with cheddar cheese, umami mayo, lettuce, pickles, and white onion. This was cooked ideally to a medium-medium rare temperature. The bread was the key as it held the toppings and was of good ratio. The pickle was nicely folded and placed where it was not hanging off the burger. It was a little sweet, but not a big deal. We came to the happy hour a few days ago to enjoy some of their yummy oysters. And at $18 for a dozen, we were indeed happy. But some other things left us not quite so pleased. Their happy hour runs from 4-5 p.m. We arrived at 4:10, ordered our first dozen and waited until 4:45 to get them! We immediately ordered another dozen, which arrived at the stroke of 5. Happy hour over. We have no idea why it took so long to get our order. The bar area was busy, but others seemed to be served more quickly. Anyhow, very disappointing though the oysters were tasty. We'd like to think this was a one-time slow day and not emblematic of any bigger issues at this restaurant, which we have enjoyed in the past. read more

Another exceptional meal in the Treehouse!! Started with delicious refreshing Hugo Spritz's after a hot afternoon poking about the main drag shops. Last night's options include a smoky clam chowder with incredible stoneground corn bread with honey butter and jalapeno jam, and a dense sourdough rye with dill butter, which I could not stop dunking in the chowder; warm beets with burrata and citrus oil with coriander seeds and sage followed. Some might have preferred the beets chilled but still a strong dish as was tempura summer squash with ponzu dipping sauce and zucchini rollitini served with classic tomato basil sauce. Oyster Club is a restaurant and raw bar. Their style cuisine is farm and sea to table; the menu is seasonal and changes often. The ingredients are fresh and local. The chef is a James Beard semifinalist. They also serve brunch on the weekends. In the warmer months, there is a treetop dining upstairs. It's on a deck with beautiful views of the water. It is self serve, you have to order at the counter and pick up your food. The menu is Mexican food inspired. We were going to do this option but it was a very hot day. We had a great experience inside the restaurant. The service was attentive. We started off with some margaritas, half a dozen of fresh oysters, and I had the oyster Rockefeller (baked oysters with creamy spinach, bread crumbs, and cheese) for my meal. And I got the "native catch" for dinner-- a pice of John Dory fish over a bed of hummus (of some flavor that I don't remember), couscous and tomatoes. The fish was delectable, fresh, and cooked to perfection. I don't really understand the choice of hummus under the fish. It felt a little heavy. I would have rather just had the couscous (or another rice) and a bunch (more) vegetables. I would absolutely come back here, and highly recommend to anyone visiting. A must do in Mystic! Best oysters I've had in a long time! I love a raw bar but even more when they do an oyster flight!!!! The bartender and server knew their stuff in this farm to table cuisine! Everything is fresh and farm to table their hot sauce, which changes daily, depending on what they get from the farms the rendition that we had had peach in it, and it was the most amazing thing. You could spoon it into your mouth. Even they are bloody Mary mix had fresh ingredients from the farm in it and was homemade made on site. The decor was beautiful and had jazz music playing in the background. You can get both types of chowder here. Both people in our party decided to go for the New England, which is not made thick with a roof, but then with fresh cream again direct from the farm. Even the oyster crackers are homemade and ground from their sourdough bread. They have a great draft menu of local bruises too. Definitely get the bloody Mary with an oyster shooter! We were looking for a locally sourced seasonal ingredients, and I was craving clam chowder when we arrived at the Oyster Club as walk-ins. I had previously checked Rezy and they were completely booked for the evening- but they were able to seat us within minutes at the bar, which we were grateful for. (Although I would note multiple tables remained open for the duration of our meal) I had the Burrata, and the mixed green salad as an appetiser-- both were excellent. My chowder was pretty disappointing, I opted for the Rhode Island and the broth was very good- but the chowder was mostly bacon and potato, with very little clam. I thought the entree selection was a bit lacklustre. I went for the catch of the day and while the fish preparation was delicious the accompaniments left Little to be desired. Mid July and I was hoping for some beautiful local Farm fresh vegetables but instead I got probably canned garbanzo beans. Unfortunately, our server did not respond accurately when she said the jerk was just on the beans it was in fact a broth covering everything so the flavour was really overpowering. Tiny sprigs of kale, maybe a tablespoon worth max with a 1/2 cup of garbanzos, maybe two pieces of diced bell pepper... MEH. I had a non-alcoholic mixed drink that was good. My companions were both disappointed with their main courses as well. Muscles in a coconut lemongrass broth - coconut overpowered the other flavors. Additionally- muscles that remained unopened were in the dish... leaving us to question why the kitchen would leave them there... The lobster pasta again was overpowered by the tomato sauce such that the lobster flavor was undetectable. All in all- flavor combinations were unsuccessful. Wonderful Hostess, the bar smelled like a bar- kinda gross, and the bottles smashing as they were tossed into the recycling created an atmosphere that was out of sync with the price point. Thank you the food is phenomenal really I'm not just saying this is our second day back that Carne asada tacos and a spicy slaw salad and black bean salad and a tuna tostada has been awesome. We both got margaritas and they were perfect so nice sitting outside. The service is great. They deliver the food quickly when you get here sit down at a table, there's numbers on them then you go up to the bar and order your food and drink. This spot is unlike any other I've tried in Mystic thus far. This is Mystic's crown jewel. Came here around 4PM, and my friend & I sat at the happy hour bar. I ordered 20 oysters at $1.5/pc, the smash burger, OC burger, and the native catch (swordfish!). Every single dish exceeded expectation; the oysters were delicious, briny and nothing short of mouthwatering. The smash burger is a lite version of the OC burger, but nonetheless I got it with bacon, and the bun was crisp on the outside, with a juicy patty and a creamy aioli-type sauce. The OC burger itself I got medium rare, and the meat completely shifted itself from a parent to the smash burger to an amazingly fresh, delicate taste with a crunch, and the patty was even more moist and tender, contrasting the smash version in a complimenting way, while honoring the same ingredients that made the smash burger such an experience. The native catch (swordfish) came with couscous, with a green tinted hummus, and had a great texture. The fish was firm, and didn't fall apart, and the same thing for the couscous. The hummus added a very nice earthy flavor, with a nutty texture to the overall meal, and no one ingredient overpowered the entire plate. There was a separate section between the main dining area, which was much darker and intimate, and the happy hour section, which presented a much more open ended and sunnier environment to eat in. The service was amazing, the bartender that tended to us at the bar we sat at was charming to talk to, and we got our orders very quick for how much we ordered. Bottom line, and the lesson I learned, is that if you see a poster, advertising the Oyster Club in front of S&P Oyster, skip S&P Oyster (unless you like $9/bottle of water), and thank the oyster gods you were blessed that day. read more

This place is a bit more upscale and pricey ( A soup and entrée was like 55 dollars, plus tip). The experience doesn't match the price point. I think the thing that bothered me the most was I ordered a soup and asked for some crackers for the soup. They provided me with some oyster crackers, which literally consisted of maybe five little crackers ( I had to ask the lady again could I get a bit more ) and charged me another $1.50 for crackers. What is the world coming to..... Everything was good just not great. Hey, do you have a pretty good set up here where they have an oyster bar where they chuck the oysters in front of you. When we were relegated to the Treehouse despite the empty main dining room, I had my doubts, but Oyster Club has some creative options. Small plates are more abundant than entrees, presumably meant for mixing-and-matching with the namesake bivalve. The $12 Rhode Island clam chowder has me once again referring to the Pulp Fiction $5 milkshake reference, but salt pork does fine work here. The salted fluke was the delightful star of the taramasalata toast. Given my massive lunch, I kept it light here, and only got two Niantic oysters, but they were great as were the accompaniments. read more

My girlfriend and I recently took a trip to Mystic, and unfortunately we were very disappointed by the service Oyster Club had to offer. We had ordered a cocktail from their drink menu, I believe it was the number 45 that had six different ingredients. It took over 20 minutes to receive our drinks, and the drink only tasted like one ingredient, pickle juice. We were disappointed as it really did not taste like it had been advertised in its description on the menu and politely informed our waitress that the drinks were not what we had expected, and the manager came over. She scowled when I stated that we were not enjoying the drinks. We took only one or two small sips each and our glasses were still full. We were offered substitutes with phrasing that sounded like they would swap out the drinks we had ordered with something from the bar. These second round of drinks also took 15 minutes to arrive. When the bill finally came at the end, we were charged for those first two drinks that we just sipped on no more than two times each. Our entrees were solid, and honestly had it not been for the frustrating experience with service, this place would be a solid 4 out of 5. I just don't understand the hostility as we were giving feedback on our drinks which we genuinely were not enjoying. Additionally, we had been seated at a table very close to the door in an awkward part of the entrance, but we were understanding given they were busy. Being treated like this considering our seating arrangement bothered us even more. I think that in a town like Mystic, with so many places for couples to eat, there are definitely better choices, as this place definitely has an air of arrogance to it. read more

We stopped by Oyster Club for happy hour on the Fourth of July. Their happy hour is daily from 4-5pm, and they offer a daily selected oyster (for $1.50 each), chowder, mussels, a smash burger, steak frites, and drink specials. We shared some of the oyster of the day and some drinks (my friend had a glass of Vinho Verde for $6, my husband had a draft beer for $6, and my friend's husband and I had their handcrafted cocktail of the day for $6). We got there a little bit before 4, which was a good idea, because we got some of the last seats for happy hour (there were about 10-20 people in front of us in line for happy hour). The oysters were good; the service was great; the dining room is beautiful. The happy hour cocktail was a beet juice play on a Mai Tai, which I don't think was very successful but it was just about the prettiest cocktail (so pink) that I've ever seen. Wow. You'll want to run, not walk to Oyster Club. Here's why. We were celebrating a special occasion and wanted to have a nice meal in Mystic. The food was phenomenal and the service was even more outstanding. The dining room we sat in was nicely decorated. It reminded me of an elevated lodge/log cabin. It had wood paneled walls, chandeliers made of branches and chairs with plaid upholstery. Aside from it being a nice looking spot where it's clear they paid attention to details, the food definitely hit the mark for me. Ordered: Sourdough ($7)- it was served with olive oil even though on the menu it said it'd come with lemon dill butter. I'm guessing they ran out of the butter. It was good but I wouldn't pay $7 for bread next time. Caesar salad ($14)- this was my favorite thing that I ordered! Instead of romaine lettuce, the salad was made of blanched string beans which were tossed in a delicious Caesar dressing and topped with breadcrumbs. New England clam chowder ($12+$1.50 for oyster crackers)- the soup was light and although it was creamy it wasn't thick. It has a good amount of potatoes, salt pork and clams. It was a nice sized portion. The oyster crackers were good too. Burger ($17+$1 for onion jam)- this was a really nice burger. The onion jam is well worth it! The burgers and fries were a little too salty. Monkfish ($35)- the waitress upstairs at the Treehouse and our waitress downstairs recommended the monkfish. I'm glad I ordered it! It had a nice crisp crust and was well cooked. The accoutrements were tasty- sweet corn and turtle beans. Shoutout to our waitress Sarah, she was great! I would 100% return to Oyster Club! read more

Well let begin by saying that we found this restaurant called 'Treehouse' on social media and said, wow we need to check this place out but what a disastrous disappointment !! I was completely shocked that the food wasn't as we'd expected. The food was absolutely a disaster. My wife ordered the lobster tostadas and she described it as frozen-like, gummy/chewy and not fresh. I ordered the chicken quesadillas and OMG !! Salty (af) and when I bit into it, it wasn't chicken, it was tuna from the can. I ordered chicken not tuna. I was beyond pissed !!!! This salty mess is accurate because I read other reviews about the saltiness. It appears as though the chef took 3lbs of salt and mixed it up with the so-called chicken. First off get rid of that Chef. Everyone knows that quesadillas already has cheese which already has salt so why even add more salt. WHY?? I shouldn't have to say please low on the salt on a quesadilla? Come on really? I threw my food in the garbage and my wife only took a few bites before throwing it out. The drinks are NOT filled to the top. Prices for the drinks and food are outrageously overpriced to the tenth degree. We decided to go Mystic Pizza because we were still hungry.
