Nice place. Good prices, wasn't crazy expensive. Home fries were freshly made, a nice treat and tasty omelette. Nice toast, and English muffins, bottomless coffee. Staff was all very nice. Setting was beautiful. WARNING: 1. Tables are NOT PROPERLY disinfected. A bar rag was used to clean our table. When asked to disinfect the table better, the ONE wipe was first used to wipe the seats then used on the glass table top. One bar rag and one wipe! WOW 2 Staff (numerous) were not properly wearing their masks. 3. People were allowed to wander into the dining room to use the rest room without masks. The woman abruptly hung up on me and when I called back to ask for the owner she started being nasty, pulling the phone away... making comments wow!!! Let's just say, you treat people like crap, chances are the quality of food is just as bad. Years and years ago, Kitchen Little used to be a small road side 'restaurant' - more like a shack with a few tables - which served solid food including some Portuguese items, and which was beloved for their consistency, popularity and atmosphere, and good value. It's a place my New England family went to for decades, and was super disappointed when one day they noticed it wasn't there any more, and another restaurant had taken over their location. Over the years everyone moved away and now we only go back once a year in the summer, to visit the places we have fond memories of, always near the water. This past July, some of the younger generation (who didn't know Kitchen Little) joined the former locals and spent a long weekend in Mystic. Looking at Yelp for restaurant recommendations, I came across Kitchen Little and bookmarked it, not actually making the connection that this was "THE" Kitchen Little we had always heard about. Fast forward to our last day in town, we were looking for a good place for breakfast for the 6 of us. I made a few calls, and Kitchen Little said they could fit us in if we came straight over. We got in cars and drove to the new location, winding through what seemed like several residential neighborhoods of Mystic, and finally parking at an area that seemed like a harbor and boat launch. My mom and aunt were a little confused to see the name of the place and recounted the story in the first paragraph of this review. We went inside and sure enough, it's the same people as always! My mom and aunt were really happy and surprised, and the familiarity and memories made for a great experience. Of course the food here is good, as is the service, and this place is small and popular, so you might need to wait, but you will definitely eat well!! Now that we know where they are we will definitely be back on our future summer trips! read more

For my birthday my S/O and I drove 3 hours from eastern Long Island so I could take her to the place I've been bragging about and dying to take her for 4 years. I had my mind set on eggs Benedict the entire drive. We arrived at 12:10 to be told from the deck above, by presumably the manager, that they closed early at 12:00 pm for the Columbus Day / indigenous peoples holiday. He apologized and suggested I try another place up the road. When I told him I drove 3 hours for my birthday breakfast he responded with "sorry". We spoke with another couple in the parking lot who arrived at 12:01 and were turned away. Their drive was only an hour. There were other people walking to the restaurant while we were walking back to our car. I understand it's a business and I may sound entitled but why would a business turn people away who drove very far over 10 minutes? For one minute? We could see people still enjoying their breakfast in the dining room. There was no mention of early closing on their website and I believe they don't accept reservations. I have been there several times and I was really looking forward to it. We won't be back. read more

Our party of four stopped in for brunch on a busy Saturday morning. The place was packed with locals, always a good sign. The staff was friendly and helpful. My lovely companion got a half order of the crab and asparagus omelet and a half order of the lobster Benedict. She enjoyed both with a slight preference for the omelet. You can't go wrong with either one. I had the scrambled eggs with cream cheese and crab. It was definitely a winner. Light and loaded with crab, I really enjoyed it. So much potential for the quality and taste of the food being served here, but some things were just a bit too off-putting during my visit. Firstly, we entered through the main entrance and it was not at all clear if we should seat ourselves or wait for a hostess. For a couple minutes we just stood there as I walked around looking for someone to seat us. After ordering, somehow my item was never made and needed extra time to come out, though I do think this was just an honest mistake. There was also some confusion about the Cinnamon Bun French Toast not being the same type of bread as the last time it was ordered, and there was never any conclusion other than just eating it. The granola with the fruit and yogurt did not go well together. The type of granola was more like it belonged in trail mix. The cinnamon banana granola pancakes ironically did not have any detectable granola. Finally, the thing that made me put a relatively low rating was me biting down on lobster shell within my eggs Benedict. This is an unfortunate even that could've caused a reaction in someone allergic to shellfish. It was surprising to say the least, and I'm sure if I brought it up they would've replaced my dish, but I didn't want the hassle as we couldn't stay for much longer. Most don't understand how to truly poach an egg without the whites running like they were in a marathon or understand how under toasting ones toast or muffin blows your morning. Not here though. I also had asked for home fries-EXTRA Crispy. They were not remotely crispy. Just soft potatoes. Coffee was extremely weak, and orange juice was not fresh squeezed. Service was mediocre and we were never given water upon arrival. Their menu is wonderful-so many delicious options-but unless they can execute properly; and not have to wait an hour to be served...I won't be coming back. Really unfortunate.
