We were fine with everything coming out together and it did! We had to dig into the calamari first and it was amazing! The breaded is incredibly light and crispy at the same time. A very tender batter. Fresh calamari and sweet and hot peppers was delightful with a hint of heat. House made tomato sauce for dipping was tangy and sweet. The mussels were steaming hot for a while too. The coconut and curry were light, the mussels perfectly cooked and cleaned. Yes, it matters! We ended up taking the salad back to our room and it was tasty as well. Large slices of fresh strawberries, sliced roasted almonds, feta cheese and a dressing that wasn't too heavy, tangy or tart. While on a road trip from Boston to NYC my wife and I were staying in Mystic for a couple of nights and found this gem. Not a very big place so I had made reservations just in case. It was a week night so it wasn't too busy for an early dinner. Our server whom we have unfortunately forgotten her name was amazing. When she found out we were from out of town and where we were going she offered us some suggestions of other places to visit which were perfect. She was super attentive and checked on us multiple times to make sure that everything was perfect. Now for the food! YES!!!! I had seen the "Lobster Bomb" on tic tok so it was a must and let me tell you it did not disappoint! The bisque was rich and served in a bread bowl with what they say is 1/2 pound of lobster meat, however it had to be more. It comes with fries and at first I was underwhelmed by the idea, but I was wrong. They were fresh cut potatoes that paired perfectly with the rich bisque and lobster. Was in town for the weekend with the Hubby for a little get away and went to Yelp as I had truly never been to the area (other than the casinos - but we wanted to try something different) and the reviews were good so off we headed, let me tell you for being down the end of a pretty dead*ish street this little place was PACKED.. The lobster was delicious, and the service was great. I was there on a weekday for lunch and there was no wait time. My only complaint is that they dont have gluten free substitutions. It was so nice to be back visiting Fords Black & Blue. We were passing through to Newport and just had to stop at our favorite place to have lobster ... or actually their Lobster Bomb! Missy was our server and she couldn't have been more friendly and personable! Service was top notch and she really took good care of us. The food was good, and the ambiance was okay, but the service completely ruined the experience. Our waitress, Karie, had a lousy attitude that made the dinner much less enjoyable. When I politely asked, "When you have a moment, can we get a side of ketchup and ranch?" her response was, "I only have two hands." That level of sarcasm was completely uncalled for. She never checked in to see if we needed refills or anything else, and it was hard not to notice how kind and attentive she was to the other tables around us. For such a highly rated restaurant...I expected more. Both my husband and I have May birthdays. so we decided this was the place to go. It's two hours away from home...We were greeted by a server and seated. The whole place was virtually empty, yet we were seated in probably the worst table in the place. No problem. I ordered a lavender lemonade. It was the best part of the meal! Since they are known for the "lobster bomb", and I love lobster! I ordered it. Please don't waste your time. Lobster is usually sweet, not this one....almost tangy...like it was not so fresh. The bowl was maybe 4 inches across, maybe a 2 ounce ladle of lobster bisque, if that. My husband ordered the lamb chops. Four quarter sized chops...certainly not enough to make a meal out of. I will say the fries were good and the actual little bread bowl was tasty! The service was barely there...Smiled to your face and once turned around, actually looked miserable! Our waitress Kerrie snapped at my wife when she asked for side plates to come with our muscles starter plate, then we never received them. Went there for a birthday dinner on a busy weekend. Had to make earlier reservations but worked out fine. It's a smaller place, with a 1/2 level of additional, elevated seating. Very well laid out, with little echo, so it was easy to have a conversation. Hostesses and waitress were very attentive. The menu provides plenty of variation for everyone. It's the 3rd time here, all with different dishes and this time didn't disappoint. I tried the seafood Newburg after wrestling with the specials menu--too many good options. My son ordered the blackened ahi special. Both dishes came out promptly and perfect. The blackened tuna, seared tataki style, with rice and asparagus was a nice portion even for an appetite. The Newburg, usually a heavier dish, was lighter than expected (butter sherry cream), yet had the body to hold up against the lobster, shrimp, scallops and fettuccine. Both were awesome. We had good service and very good food at our first visit to Ford's Black & Blue. Cold weather makes this a decent choice for those who love Ford's but not the cold! The menu of course is entirely different, as is the ambiance. It looks like they are still in the process of putting things together but it is clean, comfortable and well run. The menu is much less lobster-centric and initially that was a disappointment, but my mom had the fish tacos and loved them, and I had the baked cod and loved it, so at the end of the day this is now one of our favorite places to have dinner when I'm in town. I'll be back for certain and will continue to update my review, but for now I highly recommend the fish tacos and the baked cod. I think the New England chowder was decent as well. I'm sort of a chowder (and lobster) snob and I thought it was pretty good. I think most people will love it! I went to dinner on a Sunday night. Sat at the bar. I've eaten here before and it was always good. I Ordered Noank clam chowder, ceasar salad and lobster bomb. Bar tender was great but food was not so great. Chowder shows up fast, halfway through my chowder the salad shows up and before I finish my chowder the lobster bomb shows up. So I had my salad for dessert. Just poor service. The Noank chowder was a clear broth with too much pepper. The ceasar salad dressing tasted like it came out of a bottle and the $62.00 lobster bomb was a dud. Although the menu said 1/2 lb of lobster i think for $62. you should get more. Went for lunch, two of us, we shared two dishes, one calamari and the other was fried shrimp, both items were perfectly cooked and served perfectly presented. The service was superior and the atmosphere was very clean appearance. We will return again in the near future. The waitress took very good care of us. This restaurant is a little small in size and the main dining room was not open. Actually we are going to return very soon for dinner. We're huge fans of the original Fords but needed a place that had reservations. (We had a big group of 9.). Fords Black & Blue (FBB) made it super easy to make reservations on OpenTable. It's much more spacious here so it made it kid friendly. There's separate bar area and dining room area. Parking is in/around the building. Service was great. I know FBB is also a steak place but we went for the seafood. Started off with fried calamari and the garlic butter shrimp. The calamari was fried well and super delish with the fried hot cherry peppers. The garlic shrimp with that butter sauce - yum! It was decadent. The cherry tomatoes in it was the perfect acidic bite. For entrees, the lobster avocado grilled cheese is my go-to at the original Fords so I ordered it here. It was perfect! The Texas toast was crisp and great ratio of lobster, cheese, and avocado. We also had lobster risotto (2 of us had that), hot buttered lobster rolls (2 others ordered this) and one fish and chips. We finished everything. No complaints at all. Solid meal. For desserts, the bread pudding was dummy but the blueberry compote cheesecake was divine! Get that if you can. read more

Wishing to avoid Friday night crowds in Mystic, we had arrived early. But, we were in nearby Noank...and enjoyed a nice meal in a place that wasn't absurdly loud. Locals were starting to fill the room as we left. The bar, where food is available, was full. Per the hostess, in summer, the place is packed.
