I usually drown my seafood in lemon or lime, but I didn't need to add a thing here. It was perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor on its own. My only gripe has nothing to do with the restaurant itself--it was the parking. I ended up paying $10 to park, which felt a bit steep. If you can, I'd recommend finding street parking instead. this was such a cute little restaurant in ktown. the decor was adorable, and all of the staff were really friendly. we came around 4:30 and were able to get the $1 oysters (available every tuesday), and despite being on the smaller side, they were fresh and delicious. for the seafood boil, we got the 3 lb combo with the two free sides. i do wish they had better combo deals though, since i feel like other seafood boil spots offer more value. we chose the house sauce with a medium spice level. i was a little worried after seeing yelp photos because the bags didn't look very saucy, but i had nothing to worry about. everything was coated in sauce and seasoned so well. the house sauce was super flavorful with a hint of sweetness, and the medium spice level was perfect (noticeable without being overwhelming). we added a ton of lemon though b/c we prefer a tangier flavor. i just wish they allowed you to mix the two sauces. everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. my only complaint was the potatoes. they were so big that they didn't seem fully cooked, so i would've preferred smaller ones. the staff was super nice, but we were sat in a more secluded area near the front, so it was a little harder to flag someone down when we needed anything. because of that, we felt a bit overlooked at times. next time, i'd probably ask to sit somewhere more central in the restaurant. read more

The shrimp and crab were cooked perfectly where they were easy to get out and peel. Mild was the perfect amount of seasoning where it wasn't to spicy. Parking is a QR code to pay in the back. Service was great and quick in the beginning. However near the end we had asked if we could split the check multiple way and they said yes. We proceeded to explain how we wanted it to be split due to having 2 payments in cash with a card payment as well with them repeating the way we wanted it to be paid as well. This became a whole situation since they proceeded to do it incorrectly. Then took over 5 min to correct the error. It was a very clean place overall and had table covers to color while waiting too. I found Cap't Loui on TikTok while looking for affordable seafood boils, and the combo deals convinced me to try it. The experience was just okay for me. The main issue was the crawfish--we weren't told they ran out of live and were given frozen instead. For ~$20 a pound, the frozen crawfish had an unpleasant aftertaste and very little flavor. The fries were crispy but on the sweeter side, which I personally didn't enjoy. On the positive side, the space is nice and spacious, service is fast, and food comes out quickly. Came back after my first visit in February, and they've definitely gotten way more popular since their grand opening. The wait on a Tuesday night was around 30-40min. The good news is they still have solid deals, especially on Tuesdays with promos like $1 oysters, so it's still a pretty affordable seafood boil spot. Compared to my first visit though, this one didn't hit the same. Back in February, I would've rated it closer to a 9/10 because the food felt like such a steal -- we got the 4 lb combo, 3 sides, fries, a free snow crab cluster, and unlimited garlic noodles for around $115 with tax and tip included. The boil sauce was good, service was great. This time, I'd say it was more of an 8/10. The food was still decent, but the boil tasted more just okay, came cold and not as memorable as before. Service also felt a little weird this visit, very inattentive and for our boil takeout (to-go leftovers), the guy just gave us an extra clear trash bag to carry everything out in?? It worked, but it was kind of random. He could have offered a carrying bag for it... It made the experience so underwhelming. Our server Tara was amazing, our party was 9 people and it was our first time. She was very patient and very knowledgeable about menu. Their lunch deal is fantastic, but it's only on the weekdays so not everyone will be able to check it out. Cap't Loui has quickly become one of my favorite seafood boil spots in Koreatown. Everything came out fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. We ordered the pick 2 combo with 2 lbs of shrimp (head on) with mild Cap't Loui sauce, and it was buttery, garlicky, and had just the right amount of spice without overpowering the seafood. The shrimp were juicy and easy to peel, and every bite was coated in sauce. We also tried the garlic noodles and cajun fries, which were both really good. The pasta was simple but rich and perfectly al dente (my pet peeve is mushy noodles), and the fries were perfectly crispy with great seasoning. We had the noodles as part of the combo but the fries were definitely worth ordering as an additional side. My biggest complaint is that our 1 lb order of crawfish only came with about 8 small pieces, while they seemed to make up for it by loading the bag with sausages, which was pretty disappointing. Located in the KBBQ Quarters plaza, $4 for self-parking. The only reason I made the schlep out to K-town is for their Happy Hour promotion of $1 oysters on Tuesday all day. I first clocked this deal off of Instagram and glad I did, the quality of oysters was nice and they were well shucked. On the day that I went their oysters were from Mexico if that matters... Other than oysters on Tuesday if you go during lunch you can get delicious combos that are worth the value. From seafood boil to fryer basket, all is tasty. Pro move get some of that seafood boil sauce and mix with the garlic noodles. Came here at around 12:30, specifically for the free snow crab and unlimited garlic noodles deal on a Wednesday. Was able to get seated as a party of 2 right away. In order to get the deal, you have to order 4 lbs of seafood. Honestly, because the garlic noodles are rather dry, I probably wouldn't get that deal again. The seafood itself was good though. Really like their capt Loui sauce. Cajun fries and sausage are pretty good too, and they provide gloves and free mouthwash in the bathrooms. Servers were attentive. My only complaint is that it was HOT in the restaurant. My partner was sweating like a sinner in church, and it was only towards the end of their meal did they finally decide to turn on the AC. Not sure why they turned it on so late considering he was dripping sweat (we also didn't realize they had AC, so we didn't think to ask- it was really hot so we figured they just probably didn't have AC to keep the interior that hot inside). We came on a slow day, there weren't many people surprisingly. Great price, great environment, and great company! We got the oysters as our appetizer and for our meal, a pound of shrimp head on with some sausages, broccoli, potatoes, and corn. As a side, we ended up with some garlic noodles. I think out of the places I've been, this place has some of the best noodles ever! When we went, the grand opening special was going on, and we were able to get free unlimited garlic noodles and free crab legs for every order that contained 4 different types of seafood. Even without the special though, they have deals like free sides if you get 2 or more pounds of seafood. I usually just get shrimp at seafood boil, and the shrimp at Cap't Loui was probably the highest quality I've had at these types of restaurants. They tasted so fresh and they were so big and plump! We had added sausage to our bag since we got more than 2 pounds and while I usually am not a huge fan of the sausage offered at seafood boil, the one they use here was amazing and had a good balance of sweet and savory. Honestly this might be the best seafood boil I've ever had, and I've had quite a few!
