I'm not really sure why I crave egg whites the day after mountain biking, but it's how I roll. Especially since I typically prefer egg yellows. Anyway, they do make an excellent egg white primavera. I had never even heard of this before, however I am now a true fan. The hot cocoa was a bit on the sweeter side, but my coffee drinking companions all loved their grown up drinks. REALLY good breakfast! It seemed like possibly someone didn't show up for their shift, as there definitely weren't enough servers to handle the amount of people waiting. We almost left, but finally had our order taken and when we got our food it was perfectly prepared. I got the breakfast tacos, which sounded a little weird but were amazing. We left full and satisfied. Glad we stayed and I hope the poor servers and hosts aren't always stretched so thin. read more

Based on their prices, I expected a whole lot more than what we got. Let's start with corned beef hash from a can and frozen hash browns from a bag. If I wanted breakfast from Smart and Final (or Sysco) there are a lot of other places I can go where I don't have to spend this kind of money for pre-prepped food. Let's follow that up with the fact that they cook their hash browns by creating lumps on the griddle doing nothing to them other than turn them from one side to the other. The result is a potato patty that is fried on the outside and has the consistency of mashed potatoes on the inside because the middle has been steamed not fried. (And yes, we did order them crispy.) My partner ordered the Hass omelette which, thought fluffy, was not cooked through. Plus, we both suspect the eggs used came from a carton. The service was friendly and we recognized a few faces from back in the Toast days, but neither of those things helped with the poor food. Neither of us gave it a rating higher than a D. We won't be going back. read more

Their food was good today as in the past. The service though? Deplorable today, and not just because they were busy. Come in with my 2 yo. She says it's gonna be 25 min because they just filled up so we can sit at the bar or wait (not appropriate seating for a kid too low). So we sit at the bar, then a couple walk in right after us, the other server immediately seats them and comes over to ask me if we'd like a table, of course I say thankfully, dubious about how they overlooked us it takes about 15 for them to clean that table. Fine we get to sit. Coffee comes about 20 min later right before our food. I ask for siracha mainly because it's literally right in front of our table. Server says no we don't have siracha only the tabsaco and tapatio on the table. I flag them down for a refill on my coffee that comes after I'm done eating. And last insult to injury, server had offered me Vermont maple syrup I said sure. What she neglected to say that it's a $2 surcharge that I don't know until the bill comes. This is one of our favorite places to go for Sunday breakfast. Yeah it's generally a wait and you can't call in reservations, it's a first come first serve, but it typically doesn't take that long i.e. 20-25 min. during rush. The food is great, I love the pancakes and home fries, it's not cheaper but what you'd expect for Mill Valley. The atmosphere is high energy, staff is constantly moving however they do a great job of checking on you which is key. Customers and staff seemed to be in a good mood, love this place and always take visitors. Tip- don't forget to bring quarters for parking, old school meters for street parking don't accept credit cards. read more

The Sunnyside Hash with eggs over medium was amazing! We shared a lemon ricotta pancake that was very moist and slightly sweet. They serve it with butter and syrup on the side. Pass on the syrup, spread the butter and squeeze the orange slices garnish into it....so good!! read more

Really happy with their food and their service! Their food was great and I'll definitely stop by again if I'm in the area. Their Eggs Benedict is amazing, and I'm sure their other offerings are just as good. The servers were really friendly and as soon as you get seated, the service is relatively quick. You might spend around 5-15 minutes waiting for a table (get your name on the list!) but it's worth it. I highly recommend this place! read more

4 stars for food. The Dungeness crab hash was out of this world. Paired with the lemon ricotta pancakes, it was the perfect combo of savory and sweet. Service was sub par.. As a server myself, I respect when someone's hustling but we were never checked on for food quality, our waters were never refilled (or a second drink offered after we'd finished ours) and we had to track someone down for the check. Wow. The breakfast was amazing! I ordered the Sunnyside Hash (no bacon or jalapeño) and ate every bite. My eggs over medium were cooked perfectly! The Blackstone omelet was loved, with some of the best hollandaise sauce ever. My dad called the Millionaire bacon, "bacon from heaven." Everything was cooked to perfection. Very cute breakfast spot in my hometown. Was great to grab a table around brunch time without being so busy. I got the chicken stonepot which tasted really good! The bad part was it came so hot in the stonepot, it was literally still cooking while I was trying to eat it so it burned my tongue! By the time i asked the server for a separate bowl to put my food in, my food had already burnt on the bottom :( Wasnt really happy trying to eat burnt food. All in all it was tasty and very filling for the price! Next time ill ask them to just full cook everything and serve it in a bowl not the stone pot. read more

Had an amazing brunch here! Came after checking out a nearby wedding venue and was pleasantly surprised. Our coffee mugs and water were always filled, multiple waiters/servers checked up on us (without being annoying), the atmosphere was lively and fun, prices were reasonable, and most importantly the food was great. To provide some context, I'm not a huge brunch person. I don't like to go to popular brunch spots with hour-long waits to eat granola or eggs. I definitely prefer friendly neighborhood diners and more casual spots where the portions are filling. Kitchen Sunnyside meets that criteria. The menu is pretty extensive. You can choose from both the breakfast and lunch menus, which range from morning tacos and omelettes to burgers and salads. My fiance had the Bay Hash, a heaping plate of hash browns topped with scrambled eggs, Dungeness crab (!), shrimp, and other delicious things. A little steep for $18 but it was so much food. I went with the morning tacos ($13) and these hit the spot: Chicken apple sausage AND bacon, a generous amount of avocado, scrambled eggs, and a potato medley on the side. Both entrees came with toast and salad on the side. I found Mill Valley to be very charming, and that was only reinforced by our brunch at Kitchen Sunnyside. read more

The real stand-out in this homey diner-style breakfast and lunch spot is the Stone Pot Chicken (or the Stone Pot Shrimp). It is incredible - I'm a little obsessed. Think of a crazy-hot stone bowl brought to you filled with sizzling rice, peas, carrots, bean sprouts, snow peas, mushrooms, cucumber, scallions, cilantro, a fried egg, and chicken in a yummy chili sauce. It's huge, and it's hard not to finish it, because it's so freakin' good. A surprising find in a place that is mostly known for egg breakfasts. Eggs are good, pancakes are good, sandwiches are good, etc. Service is good when it's not crazy busy, and always pretty friendly. A stand-out for breakfast or lunch in Mill Valley. read more

We stayed overnight one night in this adorable town and this was the perfect breakfast spot. I got the eggs Benedict with the bacon and asparagus and the crispy Yukon potatoes. Spectacular Hollandaise! My hubby got the buttermilk pancakes with banana and walnuts. Also delicious. Only complaint was it took a while to pay the bill and they set us at a table jammed up against two men clearly having a business meeting and there were plenty other open tables. This is a very small brunch place that we came across on our hiking trip. Parking was a little tough as it was crowded, but we managed to find something. Our group really liked the food here. Went here for breakfast and ordered the crab hash browns. My husband ordered deep fried French toast which looked more like a doughy pancake and was tasteless. My crab hashbrowns lacked flavor and were topped with "scampi shrimp" which were actually 2 over cooked shrimps on top. I kind of expected more given that this was a $21 plate. The food aside, the service was unfriendly and unwelcoming. We didn't even get a "Hi, welcome in." Instead we were approached by our server that said, "What do you want to order." I came here with my parents, boyfriend, aunt, and uncle. None of us are from the area but were in town for a family wedding. I don't think a single one of us left this place unimpressed! We arrived a little early (didn't know they weren't open that early), but it was worth the 20 minute wait to open! I also enjoyed an almond milk latte there - exceeded my standards/expectations for sure! It was so good my parents wanted to come again instead of trying something new the next day - the traveler/adventurer in me wouldn't allow that, though. However, my aunt and uncle went back again - it really was that good! There is a bathroom, but it's a shared restroom between the shops in the area. You have to grab a key from the hook to use it. Bloody Mary is not on the menu- but they do make an excellent Mary! Good spice, great flavor and presentation (garnish) on point.
