We do the same steak and wine stuff every year for our corporate new years and holiday gatherings, but this year a colleague thought lets try something else. We did the chefs tasting menu at kitchen. Wow So to start, it us a quaint place, very small and honestly I felt like we were in our own restaurant in the private room we booked. The wine in the lounge was great along with our appetizers and the decor made the place feel hip and fun. The actual dinner was fantastic, we had four courses and each one was unique. I could sit here and tell you what to eat and what we liked but truthfully this is a place you want to go back to because each dish is very unique. I'll post pictures of what we had and suffice to say, we will be back 5 stars, the chef was nice enough to come greet us, very humble and his lovely wife hosted us. For the hype and the buzz, this place let me down. The food was poorly cooked (the rarest burger I've ever had served to me), the drinks uninspiring (no cocktails, and the restaurant ambiance not ready for diners (no dessert menus, weird overflow extension called "lounge" without a full bar--just wine and 5 or so bottled beers). Two recommendations: 1) request outdoor seating on open table and when they call to confirm reservation and 2) only come for dessert (order blueberry Apple crisp, you won't be disappointed) Albeit disappointed in food, drinks, and restaurant ambiance (a bit pretentious for my liking) our waitress Jody was well versed on the menu, but was eager to get us the bill to make way for the next reservations coming in. I have never written a review. But felt compelled to do so this time. My husband and I have worked in high end country clubs for 20 plus years in the food service. We do not expect outstanding meals every-time. In fact we love finding the small family owned places that have "love" in their food. But when you are paying $120 plus without drink for the two of you, then it should at least be editable. (Please note we placed a to-go order) We had the chicken schnitzel. It was bland. No sauce. No flavor. Just breaded chicken with arugula and a few mushrooms( the veggies were not cooked- just cold and placed on top of chicken) , and a fried egg. No seasonings or sauce. I ended up adding tomato sauce and cheese to it and add more flavors. Then threw it out. To say that it was bland would be putting it nice. The only thing nice to say was chicken was cooked well and was not dried out. My husband had the fettuccine Bolognese. You would think for the price it would have more meat and the pasta would be homemade. I make better bolognese pasta at home. And it had no real flavor. The Caesar salad had a decent flavor. But was mushy and warm when we got it home because they had it placed in between two hot entrees in the bag. The actual size also was not worth the $14 we paid for it. It was at best a side salad. The crab cake had actual real crab in it- but was very small and not worth the $19. The only thing that was decent was the delicious was coconut cake. The baker knows what they are doing. I did not try other deserts. But this was great. But the rest of the meal-My husband and I almost took it back- and we never do this! It was that bad. Maybe it was because we got it to-go? But I really do not think so. The resent reviews I read all day the same things. Im guessing it's busy at the restaurant because apparently this chef used to work for Tiger Woods?? My husband and I went to this quaint little restaurant on a Friday after work. It was so cute. Dim, romantic lighting in a very intimate setting. I ordered the center cut NY strip which quite possibly could be the best steak I've ever had in my life. It was perfectly cooked medium with garlic butter crust. Mmmmm. It came with hand cut potato fries. My husband had a fish (can't remember the name). He said it was good but loved the steak. His meal came with dill cauliflower - delicious! - and a Brussels sprout/pepper side. For desert we split the coconut pie with lemon curd and also had a desert sampler. Once again the Kitchen doesn't disappoint. Obviously the Kitchen is gaining more attention and demand as they expand to accommodate all their reservations. We arrived on time and were immediately seated. The menu is rock solid and offers all that one would expect in terms of choice. We love their Bronzino and the taste was delicious. The Kitchen always offers a few specials BUT you need to order early as they can run out 86 as its called. My wife and I joined my parents here for my mother's birthday 2 weeks ago and we had a delicious dinner: Wife = bronzino (daily catch) -- best bronzino that she's had in the States Me = Burger -- really good and my wife and I went 50/50, so a nice lil way to do a surf & turf Mother = schnitzel -- really good and it was a great recommendation by the server or she wouldn't have ordered Father = I can't fully recall, but I think he had the other fish that night (a grouper perhaps) All in all a great meal with a nice intimate setting and we were sitting next to the operators (head chef, Matthew perhaps, and his wife + 1 other gentleman) who showed a sincere inquiry as to how we enjoyed our meal and were quite interested in to how their staff was performing. I went to this restaurant After reading an article about where the top chefs in palm beach county go to eat on their down time . To say the least we were all very disappointed From the service to the quality of food to the menu .We are in south Florida but the 3 fish choices were sourced from over a thousand miles away One.the mediterrean . The other south America and the final from the pacific north west Really with all the fresh locally caught fish right in their backyard All the dishes were virtually tasteless or way over salted . Bolognese sauce wasn't even jar quality The fish was small and lacking any real flavor or sauce The schnitzel was just ok more like an over rated chicken cutlet The waitress was sweet but unattentive As for The chef who recommended this place I have to question his ability to know what good food is and can only imagine what he serves in his.place the problem I see with alot of these restaurants is anyone with aisle money feel they can open a place and serve people The dining experience is way more then that. Where to begin...where to begin...this place blew not only me, but the rest of my party away! So good! I had read from previous reviewers to make a reservation ahead of time due to how hard it is to get in. We got an 8:30 reservation for Friday night. Looking back now, it IS summer and Season is pretty much done (hooray - less traffic!), so we could've walked in with no hassle. There were a few empty tables OR maybe it was just a slow Friday night OR maybe we just ate really late..Who knows.. We arrived a bit earlier, and got seated down immediately. I suggest sitting outside on not so hot nights, great atmosphere, plus it's a bit more spacey and open than the interior. The inside is quite small, but looked nice and intimate..plus it was a bit too cold for our taste. This place is located in a plaza, so parking is kind of limited. We parked in the plaza next door..not sure if they are related..but I didn't get towed. Onward to the best part... FOOD (my stomach is growling): Main Dishes - + Pan Roasted 2x Cut Porkchop, Chevre Whipped potatoes, Apple-ginger Jam: the STAR of the our dinner. Everyone couldn't believe how tender and juicy the pork was. YUM. The apple-ginger jam paired perfectly with it, plus the potatoes were super creamy & had hints of blue or goat cheese in it. I would HIGHLY recommend ordering this!! + Simple Grilled Fish, Charred Lemon, Olive Oil, Parsely: Cooked well, definitely all about the fresh fish taste if you really enjoy that. Plain, yet delicious. It wasn't flavored heavily, and you could taste the nice grilled flavors. Comes with 2 filets. + Charred Filet of Beef, Garlic Spinach, Maytag blue, Cripsy Onion rings: Cooked well & yummy...the filet looked thick. I didn't get a bite of this dish, so I don't have much to say, but the person in our group loved it! Cleaned the whole plate. Sides - + Dill Roasted Cauliflower: yummy, tender and flavorful. + Sautéed Parmesan Broccolini: crispy, with a delicious flavor of parmesan. + Roasted Brussels & Grape Tomatoes: mmmhmmm, anything roasted in my book, is A-OK. + Butternut Squash with Truffle Oil, Goat Cheese: ORDER THIS. We all wanted more of this delicious side, as one guy claimed "one of my top 3 things I've ever eaten in my life." There was absolutely nothing about our dinner we hated. This is such a gem of a restaurant! It's intimate, trendy without being obnoxious about it, perfect for foodies while still remaining unpretentious. Started with a bottle of Sancerre which was chilled to perfection. For the first course, I had the Burrata salad and my date had the beet salad. Ripe Heirloom tomatoes, peppery arugula, and creamy Burrata were paired perfectly (especially with the Sancerre!). My date's cold beet salad was stacked in thick slices and sandwiched with unctuous blue cheese, walnut oil, and microgreens. Absolutely delish! Kitchen had two fish specials last night; a cobia and a Peruvian sea bass. We ordered both of them and were absolutely thrilled with our decision. The cobia was grilled and had a slight char to it that was so savory! Fresh lemon accompanied it but honestly it didn't need a thing. The sea bass was pan seared with roasted cherry tomatoes, capers, and served with what seemed like a lighter beurre blanc sauce. Yumyumyumyum... Sides were butternut squash with goat cheese and truffle oil (the best!!!), cauliflower (fresh dill and roasted), roasted brussel sprouts and cherry tomatoes (really roasted to bring out all that earthy flavor), and the parsley French fries (not at all oily). Dessert: do NOT miss the coconut cake. I'm telling you, even if you're full to the point of bursting, get the cake. You will thank me. My date hates coconut but indulged my selection, because he's an intelligent man :) Can I tell you he ate more of that cake than I did?? He was raving about it long after dinner was over. My husband and I just left Kitchen and we had a terrible meal. We wanted to like it because the hostess (long blonde hair) was so sweet. She accommodated us when we wanted to move indoors to prevent bug bites and treated us kindly. The food however, is a different story and that's why I'm giving it 1 star. So no more people waste their money and night out on this restaurant like we did. We ordered the "lasagna" appetizer. It was grilled portobello and eggplant as the "pasta" filled with ricotta cheese and topped with arugula and a Parmesan cheese tuille. The vegetables were overcharred and sauce tasted burnt. Very small portion - not worth $10. We both ordered the burger because it sounded delicious! Who wouldn't a burger topped with foie gras and made with grass-fed beef? When it arrived in front of us, mine was cooked well (as chef intended- medium rare) and my husbands was completely raw. (He ordered medium rare as well). He sent his back and they threw the SAME burger back on the grill and brought it back. This is unacceptable! The burger was obviously overcooked now and had that reheated taste. Not to mention, this burger doesn't come with foie gras on top. It is, according to the waitress, mixed into the burger. So it's basically like it wasn't even there. Fries were decent. My husband didn't even eat his. The couple at the table next to us sent one of their dishes back 3 times. Don't make the same mistake we did! Cute neighborhood spot with a reputation for good food, but our first experience was less than ideal. My salmon was quite good but only came with the vegetable mango salsa which left me wanting. For $32 you would think a dab of mashed potatoes might come with it. My partner's chicken schnitzel was over cooked (dark brown vs light like it should have been) and so oily that it slid off the plate when served at the table and ended up touching his shirt and getting oil on it. It also had no real flavor. When we got home, I realized there must have been something on my chair as there was food smooshed into my rear pant pocket, what looked like mashed potatoes, so there was more oil on our clothing. I was disappointed to learn that Vagabondi has shut it's doors, some time ago...Was a great tiny little place, and I was really hoping a new hero will step in and take over this tiny little property to deliver wonderful food....dreams come true...this is more then I expected... I have paid multiple visits to kitchen, and I am more and more in love with everything about the place. Inside, there are no more then 30 seats, And may be 14 outside, so i would really suggest calling for reservations since the place is always packed. The age group of the crowd is always mixed, yet very sophisticated. I am a big fan of that. My favorite burger joints have something to fear with these guys...a beautiful bled with top notch ingredients. Chefs schnitzel is everyone's favorite! Nice and moist, with beautiful salad and a fried egg on top. Fish if the day is forever changing, and economies with 2 sides and grilled lemon. I was lucky enough to have the red drum...it was absolutely perfect. Not boring, yet no underseasoned, pure perfection. Try to smoked salmon potatoe pancake....it's brilliant. There is a small private room with In the size of the restaurant with a chef's table. The staff is very polite and educated on every item on the menu, down to every ingredient that goes into a dish Overall, I have to give then 5 stars! I am conflicted about writing this review. On the one hand the chef and staff deserve to be recognized for the excellent food and service. On the other hand I might not be able to get back in. We were lucky enough to enjoy Kitchen only because a friend gave us her reservation. It's an incredibly small but completely polished restaurant and it reminded me of the tiny but fabulous hip spots in NYC. I won't go into too much detail but suffice it to say that the wine, appetizers, main courses and deserts were all excellent. All four of us enjoyed everything we ordered as well as everything everyone else ordered. It's a pricey place but it was worth every penny. You know what they say - you get what you pay for. Really wanted to love it. It's not going to happen. The best thing about this dinner was dessert. The apple cobbler was outstanding. That's the good news. Now the bad news, in a nutshell: Dark restaurants make me nervous. Why's it so dark in there? What are you hiding? It was difficult to read the menu. The tables are crammed together. I don't want to hear the two conversations going on to my left and right. I could have held that girl's hand at the table to my right. She was that close. Our handbags were touching. I really don't want my posterior knocking over the salt shaker every time I get up to go to the ladies' room. How does a restaurant of such notoriety run out of Filet of Beef before 8:00PM on a Saturday night? I never heard of (and did not enjoy) a house salad overloaded with such large slices of celery. That was no ordinary celery! It was more like the health salad you get at a better Jewish Deli than a dinner salad. There was an "off" taste in every bite that I couldn't discern. Had the lighting been a little better, it wouldn't have taken me so long to realize the culprit was KALE. Who puts kale in a house salad? Awful. I wish I had ordered something else. The chicken schnitzel. Great in theory. The schnitzel itself was perfect, but that was way, way, way too much arugula. That much arugula is never necessary. Maybe Tiger and his wife were big on vegetarian, but most of us are not. The ratio of arugula to chicken was inexplicable to me. Certainly not palatable to me. In and of itself, the arugula was flavorless. It ruined what might have been an otherwise memorable dish. Now it's unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. There is no bar. Wherever kitchen pb is proposing a Wine Bar is of little solace. They already have an impressive wine list. If you want a decent martini or a nice brandy after dinner, you're out of luck. read more

Yes, it's small, difficult to get in and pricey. It's also delicious. The burrata was outstanding- the tomatoes and arugula were wonderfully fresh and the arugula had a nice bite. The spinalis and pork chop were also delicious and cooked to the desired temps. The brussels sprouts that come w/the chop are the best I've ever had, I could eat 10 helpings. As for the wine, we went for the recommended CA Pinot Noir for 56.00 but you can take your own bottle and pay a 30.00 corkage fee, which we'll do next time. read more

This season absolutely everyone is talking about "Kitchen", the newest addition to the Palm Beach dining circuit. This a contemporary American Brasserie recently opened in West Palm Beach. It is just about the smallest restaurant I have ever been to but don't let the size fool you; this place is big on service, warmth, friendliness and innovation. The food is off the charts spectacular.The menu changes often and is very eclectic and if you're a "foodie", you will be in seventh heaven. Checkout their website for their menu. We were taken by friends who had been there previously. We were a party of four and each of us was delighted with our choice of entree. Desserts were also exceptional. Had a great dinner at kitchen. We went as a party of five on a Wednesday and used Opentable to make the reservations. Place was nicely busy for a weekday and good for people-watching. Decor was clean, modern and very inviting. Our waitstaff was friendly and knowledgable. We sat outside, which was lovely and the layout was perfect. Just enough tables to feel like you are part of the vibe, not just an add-on to the 'main' restaurant. Most of our party got the duck, which I didn't try but everybody really liked. I got the chicken schnitzel, which was a glorious concoction and hands down the best I've ever had. Loved it with the hot sauce provided on the table. Portions were generous but we still had room to share a large slice of fluffy, just sweet enough, coconut cake. Wine list was good and I really liked my Sauvignon blanc (Tenz). Beer list was small but my IPA connoisseur husband was very happy with the single IPA offered. Only surprise was the obligatory 20% gratuity for our party of five. We would have paid that much already based on the service, and the server was kind enough to mention it as she gave us the check. But still a surprise. As far as the small parking lot mentioned by another reviewer, kitchen shares the lot with a large optometry practice - since the restaurant is open at night (when the optometry place is closed) there is plenty of parking. "Delightful" A friend who lives in West Palm Beach recommended this restaurant and boy were they correct. Contemporary American prepared by Chef Matthew Byrne and his team. Almost a farm to table restaurant. I like that Matthew comes out of the kitchen and talks to his guests. Small with a lot of outside seating. Our server, Jody was extremely friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the menu. Started with the Crispy Eggplant, Roasted Peppers, Burrata, Arugula, Balsamic reduction. Very good, almost like an eggplant stack. For entrees, I had a very good Spanish Seafood Stew, that was chock full of seafood and fish in tomato broth. My wife ordered the house favorite, Chicken Schnitzel Radish, Sweet Onion, Mushroom, Arugula with a Fried Egg on top. Fried egg is an in thing. We tried the dessert sampler which was excellent, strawberry shortcake, apple cobbler , and a chocolate mousse cake. Very nice wine list but on the pricey side. Very small intimate setting. Don't go here with the exceptions of having a private conversation. Because of the small size, you need to have a reservation. However, the food is excellent with large portion sizes. I loved the dumpling appetizer that was a special for the evening. The waitress said this is a recurrent special and definitely worth it. I had the burger which is a mix of beef, brisket, and foie gras. Unique flavor and absolutely worth trying. Again portion size was more than enough for a single person. Service was superb.
