We absolutely love Kitsap Tire! We have been going there for several years for oil changes, car repairs and tires. They are always super busy but still find time to get us in quickly and provide excellent service without attempting to overcharge or add on additional costs. Recently, I got a flat tire over on Bainbridge but live in Kingston. I happened to be in a dead zone on Bainbridge so I couldn't get cell service. It was pouring down rain. I was able to get a tow truck after walking several blocks to get signal. It took the tow truck a while to get to me and my tire was shot. I was soaked and tired and the tow guy got my spare on and told me to go directly to get a new tire. I drove straight to Kitsap Tire at 430pm. (They close at 5 pm). They checked my tire, it wasn't repairable but instead of making me come back and order a new tire. They had a used tire and put it on right away and I was out the door in 15 minutes for only $50.00! I had a very positive experience here. To make a long story short, I had some issues with tire pressure which caused my low pressure warning to trigger. It seemed like a couple tires were losing air. I scheduled at Kitsap Tire & Automotive and the soonest I could get in was the next day, but they let me keep it there until the appointment. Jeff got to it that day and figured out what happened. The tires were tested and found to be fine, it may have been one of the air compressors I was using to fill it which dropped the pressure. I wasn't charged at all for testing the tires and refilling them, and Jeff was really nice about it. We have taken our cars here a few times for minor things. I like that they are inexpensive and fast. I had a complicated bulb out on my truck and they managed to get it replaced for me for a very very small amount of money. They got me a tire to replace my flat pretty quickly on a Saturday morning, which I really appreciate. In the process, they "had to" break off one of my studs. There wasn't an issue with the stud when I was putting the spare on the day before, it just seemed a little tougher to unscrew that particular bolt. They were fast, but if they had spent a few more minutes trying to loosen it, they wouldn't have "had to" break it off. Now I have to get a new stud also, and they don't have mechanics in on Saturdays. Usually when I go in for a repair, I don't expect to leave needing more repairs, so I won't be heading back. read more

Had an appointment for an oil change. I am travelling around the country and was 3500 miles from my regular guy. I looked up oil changes on Bainbridge Island and even though this guy isn't on the island I chose him because he wasn't corporate. He did it in a timely manner and was easygoing. Also checked the lights and found license plate lights were out as were the break lights. Fixed that for 6$. Also gave me credit for an online coupon that I never even knew about. read more

Love these guys! Had a problem with my undercarriage dragging on the ground after having been replaced at another place and I took it in to Kitsap Tires after talking to Matt on the phone. He squeezed me right in. He gave me his opinion on what he'd do if it was his car and I agreed. So his guys took the parts out and now I never have to worry about it again!! High integrity shop, super helpful. I brought in an old warhorse, practically limping, not sure what was needed to keep it on the road. The staff at Kitsap Tire was fantastic; they gave it a thorough inspection and told me exactly what was going on with the front and rear suspension and tires, what it would take to bring it back to health and safety, itemized each of the procedures with estimated costs--and held off on doing anything until they spoke with me on the phone. On two separate "check engine light" occasions I got quotes from dealer service centers saying I needed X done only to have the fine gents at Kitsap Tire call BS and fix the respective issues for hundreds less. It's not really a business where you'll find massive discounts, but they do good work and you can trust that the work they do is stuff your ride really needs. I have to write an update because these guys are so fantastic!!! I've been coming here for several years now for multiple fixes and every single time they treat me with respect and are really nice when I ask stupid questions (since I know jack squat about mechanics). I dropped my car off today because I had to get an oil change and I also thought I needed new brakes. I received a call back within a few hours of them opening to tell me that I actually don't need new brakes! Other companies I have been to would have just done it and charged me. Bad news! We purchased a new tire last week and then drove to Idaho over the weekend. We noticed a noise coming from that tire and have just discovered that half of the lug nuts were so loose they were close to falling off! I love this place. They have kept my car on the road, when it didn't seem possible. They are always friendly, polite and when I call them with another auto problem, they get me in no matter what. My daughter has even gone in with her car, in a panic and they took great care of her, and let me pay later. I have never been up sold and always given a choice about products. Bunch of clowns destroyed 2 locking lug nuts with an impact gun instead of removing them by hand, then refused to correct their mistake. Good thing they don't work on aircraft! Never bothered to call to inform me, waited until I showed up to get the car to let me know that I was missing 2 nuts, and two nuts were busted off on the studs and they couldn't fix it. This was Friday morning(4/2/2010) So I get a car for the weekend that if I get a flat tire I'm screwed. Then to add insult to injury they said I'd have to pay to fix the studs! I've never taken my car anywhere else since in came out of warranty, and I purchased my tires there 6 months ago. They are the only ones that have touched those wheels. We called around last week looking for a good price on an oil change for our 2011 Prius. Kitsap Tire quoted $40.00. We took the car right over and after they were finished, they said 60.00. My husband told the same guy he quoted $40. over the phone and they denied doing that. Not right at all. Then this week I began hearing a rumbling noise under the car. last night I couldn't go in reverse at all. Called AAA today and Ryan from Kitsap Towing came over, jacked it up and said the person who did the oil change did not fasten the service panel back on properly and that they broke the clip that holds it up. This shop is fantastic! I had originally stopped by Les Scwabb (I'm not from the area) they said they could help me and sent me on my way. A friend told me to call KItsap Tire, I did, they told me to bring my truck in. They took care of me no problem and extremely well priced. I would recommend this shop for any of the services they provide. The employees were really nice and good customer service. A REAL pleasant experience. I brought our 2002 Camry to the Kitsap Tire Center on July 8 for an analysis of what was wrong with the A/C system. There was no cooling and a light blinked on the dash. As expected, the car was kept for several hours. On returning, I was told the compressor was failing and the system clutch was not engaging. The compressor and several other parts would have to be replaced, at an estimated cost of $1,200, to get the system working again. I opted not to leave the car there for repairs at that time, in light of the high costs. Within the hour I took to the Internet to check costs of parts and stumbled onto a YouTube video that suggested testing the system relay using a borrowed relay from the horn. Suddenly my dead A/C system was back to normal. After buying a $15 replacement relay, I tested the car on a long drive. All was and is well. Based on the lack of evidence that the relay box had even been touched by Kitsap Tire Center (all the dust and engine film was undisturbed), I had to conclude they had either done a very bad and cursory check of my car's A/C system, or they didn't even really check. When I confronted Manager Jeff with this, he assured me they would never attempt to mislead a customer and said he would have a word with his mechanic. My money was refunded. Even if I give Kitsap Tire Center the benefit of the doubt, I'd still have to conclude that they aren't great at their jobs, since they didn't even test the relay. You be the judge. read more
