We had BBQ Pork Banh Mi and Chicken Salad. The Banh Mi felt dry and not tasty. Seemed to be missing some sauce. The salad was similar. Did not feel the satisfaction we usually get with fresh salads. Or Vietnamese food is not just our thing. The ambience and service was as you would expect in this price range. Not a place to go if you're in a hurry. Our take-out order of five items took approximately 30 minutes. The charbroiled pork was tasty but it was not charbroiled. It was like heated up by other means. They do trim off most of the fat from the pork though. Some of the mint leaves and cilantro seemed sad so I pulled them out. The prices were very reasonable. They allow dine-in and takeout orders. You can also pay with cash or any major credit card. Parking is available outside the restaurant. I don't know why it took me so long to come here. I think after they made renovations and changed the name I was a little hesitant. But I SHOULD NOT be ever!! I live in Pacifica and I have ate at other various Vietnamese places around here. I'm not going to say any names, but this was hands down the best for their sandwiches, papaya salad and their plates. They don't have the full on menu but enough to satisfy cravings. The banh mi's are delicious, toasted to perfection packed with toppings. The papaya salad is soooo good. So good that after trying it I ordered a full tray to cater for a party. I went here 3 days in a row because it's that good. Oh and try their mayo bread. While scrolling through Yelp, I randomly stumbled upon Kitten & Pinky and decided to give them a try as I've been craving bahn mi lately (since moving from Milpitas to Walnut Creek aka from great bahn mis in San Jose area to very few options that are not so great). Boy am I glad I stopped here!! I first got their BBQ Pork Vermicelli bc that's what my friend wanted and we were sharing. It was SO GOOD. It is not pictured bc I was starving and scarfed it down. This dish is a 5/5 - noodles had a great texture, pickled veggies were well flavored, there was a lot of meat, fish sauce / hot sauce was fire. Between the two of us, we were content in fullness, however we liked it so much we wanted more. So we went back and got the BBQ chicken bahn mi because I was originally craving a bahn mi and we wanted to try a different meat. Best decision ever. It was a 5/5. The bread is baked fresh, you can taste it - the perfect combo of soft and crispy. Again, plenty of meat, wonderfully pickled veggies and it was huge! There are so many places that do bahn mi wrong and this place does it so right. Dare I say the best in the bay? It's damn delicious and you guys should all try it. I also wanted to try their buns but they were all out when I went. Will have to come back next time to try them. They also sell donuts here which I did get to try a chocolate glaze courtesy of the kind owner. I kept staring at the donut case debating on if I wanted one and when I went back to buy the bahn mi and she was so kind as to gift me one! It was a pretty good donut. While on a recent road trip, our family found Kitten and Pinky through Yelp and decided to make it our destination for lunch. The "mom & pop" description is so true! We saw just an older man and a woman working hard when we walked in to place our order. And maybe it was because we were all very hungry, but once inside the smell of deliciousness was overwhelming! My daughter and I both ordered the Papaya Shrimp Salad, very reasonably priced at $9. It was fresh with plenty of shrimp and delicious! My son enjoyed the BBQ Pork Sandwich and my husband went for a lighter dish, Fresh Spring Rolls. It took some time before the food was ready, understandable with just two people taking orders and making the food, but it is definitely worth it! A hidden gem! Wow! My bf and I stopped here for lunch after a hike at Mori Point. We were totally blown away by the banh mi (and my bf has high standards for banh mi at that) We both had the #1 special and it was DELICIOUS. One of the best breads I've ever had - crispy but soft and doesn't obliterate the roof of your mouth. Meat to bread ratio is on point, and only thing I would have liked it a bit less mayo, but I'm not complaining! This is a mom and pop shop, so expect to wait if you're ordering after a large party (like we did). The owners are so nice too! Do your part to support your local businesses! These are NICE people serving home-cooked classics from the heart. Trying to eat healthy by ordering their refreshing salads (papaya shrimps or Vietnamese chicken) but somehow that #@#$#@!! "Mayonnaise Bread" always slips into my order and its two steps back for one step forward. Because I often work fairly close to Saigon Sandwiches in the City I've never tried Kitten & Pinky's Bahn Mi but they look pretty good and a quite bit more refined than Saigon. This place is a total disappointment. We went here looking for our usual spot Bunny to get to-go during COVID-19, but only found this new Vietnamese restaurant in its place that wasn't even close to being as good. Just like Bunny it is a place where you just order food, so we just ordered the Mayonnaise Bread, BBQ Chicken over Vermicelli, and Charbroiled BBQ Pork over Rice. However, the food was a huge disappointment because it didn't have a big portion like Bunny and the food wasn't close to being as good. The Mayonnaise Bread had Shrimp, Mayonnaise, Cheese, and Green Onion that is on four pieces of Bread. This tasted good while it was warm and crunchy with the creamy hot topping, but you couldn't taste the Shrimp at all because the other ingredients overwhelmed it and there was only a little Shrimp. The BBQ Chicken over Vermicelli had Cucumber, Lettuce, Carrot, Mint, Green Onion, Chicken, and Vermicelli Noodles. It was very meh because it had little to not flavor or seasoning for the Chicken and there was only a little portion. The Charbroiled Pork over Rice had Pork, Tomato, Cucumber, and Rice. It was also meh because it had little slices of Pork that had little to no flavor and some ingredients. I've had Kitten and Pinky twice now and was never disappointed each time!! My go-to is the bbq pork and egg roll vermicelli. They're super generous with their portions - there was over 5 pieces of the egg roll and hella vermicelli noodles! (See pic) This mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant beats Kevin's Noodle House in Daly City by a lot in my opinion, both portion and price aspects. The family is also really sweet and welcoming. This place is great! I've had the combo sandwich and vegan sandwich. Both were delicious. The key to what makes these sandwiches great is the freshness and softness of the bread. No need to worry about the bread scratching the roof of your mouth. Just a note, the vegan sandwich has mayo, I'm not sure if it's vegan mayo so if you're a strict vegan that may be something you want to ask about. I also had the Thai iced tea with jelly the last time I was here. I liked the Thai iced tea because it wasn't super sweet but the jelly was kind of oddly crunchy so if I were to order it again I'd get it without jelly. The staff here is friendly and they're located a block away from the beach so you can order food to go and walk over to the beach to enjoy it with a view of the ocean. The meat was perfectly cooked. Sometimes I feel like grilled pork tends to be a little dry but this one was super tender. The meat was super flavorful, with the slightest sweetness and perfectly juicy when you bit into it. The bread was also super yummy. It wasn't too hard where it hurts the top of your mouth.
