3 stars: average, run-of-the-mill donuts. Okay-ish fluffiness; I've had fluffier donuts at other donut shops in EG. A little disappointed on the old fashioned donuts not having much edge-crispiness (contrary to their appearance.....so kinda old donuts?). A tad too much oil held on in the apple fritter. I liked that the blueberry cake donut had a uniform blueberry taste throughout the donut. Also, these donuts aren't overly sweet so great for those who don't have the biggest sweet tooth. Friendly lady at the counter. I had zero problems with parking in the small plaza at 9 am on a weekend. read more

There's nothing more Delicious than waking up in the morning, and wanting a Maple bar! I finally got around to try Kj donuts and I am so happy that I stopped by today. I'm pregnant and I was really craving a Maple bar and the selection at Kj. Donuts did not disappoint. It was 9 A.M. and they still had an incredible selection of fresh donuts that looked insanely Perfect. Not only was the place very clean. They were fully stocked of all donuts and drinks, and I was very Happy with my Maple bar, Maple buttermilk, chocolate milk, donut holes and some freeze dried candy! I can not wait to come back to share the donut LOVE! read more

Fresh and yummy. I've been back here a number of times over the years and the donuts have been very great. Haven't gotten a new Apple fritter since my last incident, but I will next time when I'm craving a sweet treat just to try it again. This review is for their Too Good To Go purchase. I decided to try this place since I was in the neighborhood and I was not disappointed at all. The selection of donuts that were given to me for the price I paid for was definitely worth it. Robert, who was working that day, was very nice and friendly and definitely a delight to talk to. He even extended an invitation for me to come back and try other kinds of donuts. Definitely go check this place out! read more

My boyfriend just came home with a half donuts from here. He stopped by after getting his haircut. I was pleasantly surprised! I have been craving donuts :p and I haven't eaten lunch yet. I WAS HANGRY. He picked up 2 chocolate donuts, 2 strawberry donuts, 1 jelly filled, 1 crumb donut, and 1 glazed. I was so excited, we ate them before taking pictures. The donuts were so fluffy. I absolutely loved the chocolate donut. The chocolate glaze was really good and didn't taste overall sweet. I've tried a lot of donut shops, and I really liked the glazes. A little hidden gem of a donut shop. Excellent donuts. So fresh and tasty. It's a fairly typical donut setup. Certainly an efficient layout. Prices are fair and the owner is kind and helpful. When I visit he throws in an extra donut when I'm grabbing 12. The true meaning of a baker's dozen. My local go to to pillows of deliciousness. read more

Disappointed on how they run their business. First off they don't have a local number to the area and when you call rarely does anyone pick up cause it doesn't seem to be a number to the store. Went in to get donuts at about 10am on 4th of July. Busy day, not too early but def not that late in the day at 10am. They had barely anything left, like nothing. Was told it was busy but when you're a donut shop, you are still making donuts I will imagine in the morning. The lack of donuts they had was due to them just not making more. I understand if you're set to close later in the day but 10am?! Literally had maybe 20-30 total fonts available with no more being made. This seems to be a trend here. The donuts are great when avail but they don't make enough batches for the hours they claim to be open. read more

So glad I popped over to this shop with my mom. Walking in and seeing a beautifully full display of glistening donuts early in the a.m. made me smile. The shop is clean and the man inside was super friendly. We got a classic pink box filled with the good stuff (cinnamon roll, maple bar, sugar twist, classic chocolate, classic sugar, 3 cake donuts: chocolate w/peanut, vanilla w/rainbow sprinkles and chocolate w/rainbow sprinkles, and a dozen donut holes for good measure hehe). All the donuts were perfectly light and fluffy. We will definitely return and make this our new donut spot. read more

The best donut shop in Elk Grove, hands down! Doesn't matter who is working, they are always so friendly and welcoming. The donuts are so delicious! My boys are obsessed & I have a picky eater who doesn't like all donuts! The shop overall is clean & the seating area always has a kids movie playing which my boys love. Today was especially awesome. They have Halloween sprinkle donuts but when we came only had vanilla left & my boys like chocolate, well they made some for my boys while we waited. 3 times in past 2 months this place is closed at 8:05 on a weekday. My grand daughter likes to get a donut on the way to school. Two days, there's a sign on the door saying "RAN OUT". I call BS. If you have a donut shop and run out by 8 AM, THERE'S A PROBLEM. One day, she just doesn't open. Ridiculous. Get another profession if people can't depend on you. read more

Solid local donut shop with a cool owner. They have apple fritters and filled donuts, and then all your basic donuts. All of them have been very fresh every time and not too greasy. I like my apple fritters crunchier and they have been kinda soft here, still good flavor though. Great location and a favorite for the PGHS kids on the way to school. read more

Came in around closing and picked up a box of donuts. Hands down one of the best donuts I've had! The dough is super fluffy like munching on a cloud. Stopped by with my son the other day to pick up some donuts. Got a half dozen of raised glazed, apple fritters & a couple of others. The Apple fritter was burnt & had absolutely no apple bits to speak of. I took 2 bites & threw the rest away. The raised which is my fav type of donut was not great & had kind of an odd savory taste to it. The other donuts were also nothing special. The gentleman working was very nice & if it was based on that alone, my rating would have been higher. Not so sure this place has the best donuts in town like their sign proclaims. This place is a hidden gem of Elk Grove! The donuts are always made fresh, perfectly balanced with the right amount of sweetness, texture, and fluffiness. Living in an area filled with donut shops, I found one to be a gem among many, KJ Donuts in Elk Grove. Unlike most donut shops where "whats you see is what you get", at KJ they are always glad to fill with custard or jelly the type of donut my family likes on demand. So you get what you want, they way you like it there. Open early at 5 am and stays open till later than most, 430pm. Plus nice to be greeted with a smile each time I visit, also unlike most other donut shops in the area. read more

I always judge a donut shop by their maple bars. KJ has soft spongy dough and a very nice maple frosting. The staff is always kind and patient while we make our choices. You aren't going to find an overwhelming display of exotic stuff and that's fine. They have a good standard selection and it's all quality. The store is clean and bright and a quick stop on the way to work or school. read more

I went to donut shop before Christmas to grab me some donuts for my grandson. Fairly new place. Nice display of donuts and drinks. Very clean. No plexus glass. I didn't have enough money to get my grandson chocolate milk. The owner was okay for me to pay him back later. Which I did. Donuts were very tasty. If you ride your bike there, the shopping center doesn't have any bike racks to lock up your bikes. With all those shops there and eateries, they need to. read more

Our favorite donut place in Elk Grove so far! We live super close so this was a great discovery in the golden days before they were on Yelp :). Happy that more people will be finding out about this gem. Every time we've gone the owner has been super nice and even thrown in a number of free donuts on the slower days. The Apple Fritters are amazing, and a good range of donuts. Not too many hip/trendy cereal on top crazy combinations but good old school donuts. Like any donut shop if you go late in the day the selections may be limited but even the afternoon donuts were still good. Definitely recommend going in the mornings for best selection though. read more
