Moved to Meridian from Boise and trying the local cuisine we tried KJ's. The staff was busy but very attentive. Our server, Brooke, was the star of the show. She was amazing! She welcomed us for our first time and walked us thru the offerings. Her suggestions were excellent! We added the salad bar to our meals and it was excellent. Everything was very fresh and tasted great. Our meals came just as we finished the salad bar and was equally delicious. Brooke was very busy but so positive. I had just a cheese burger and fries. Both were really good. Particularly the burger. The price was very reasonable. I don't really care about service that often and like to focus on the food. But for those that care, the service was also good. My only complaint is that they had Diet Coke but no Coke Zero. But that's a small problem and I think it's because they seem to have a more elderly crowd of customers. I would definitely recommend to anyone and I plan to go back. read more

KJ's Owner = Your response was ignorant to say the least. You cannot make a disabled person with a bleeding disorder clean up after themselves and refuse service if they do not comply or do it to your satisfaction as that too is against the law. You state that due to the bleeding disorder that my brother and I have is a biohazard safety issue and that too is a lie. Blood is only a biohazard safety issue if we had a contagious disease or a transmittable infection which we do not have, we have a genetic disorder which causes us to have weak veins and spontaneous nosebleeds which is not a threat to anyone. We spend about $1,000 a month in your restaurant for breakfast alone, since other restaurants are aware of our genetic disorder and have no issue at all with our disability, we are more than happy to spend our money with them. My wife and I go here a lot. It's a nice diner. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and the food is okay. In my opinion the food doesn't stand out, but it certainly isn't bad. Their salad bar is fairly decent. There are a lot of options for a salad. The fruit consists of bananas, strawberries, and melons. They have two soup options, potatoes, and a few other sides. The ice cream machine is available with the salad bar as well. I usually get the seafood special which comes with a salad bar and shrimp. The shrimp is breaded and tastes decent. I used to hate their fish, but the newest version they have isn't that bad. If you are looking for low priced clean American diner, it's a good option. Compared to a lot of commercial diners it is as good if not superior. But like those other establishments don't expect the food to stand out. Not a bad little joint. It is open late - it is actually opened after 11 on weekends. My family and I recently moved to the area and we were looking for a place open late after a long day of unpacking. This was local to Nampa and right off the freeway. The location is easy to access. At 10:40 at night there were still a number of people eating and chatting, so we figured that it was a good sign. Our waitress, I wish I had gotten her name... was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the salad bar, which was okay. One main complaint - they didn't have any tomatoes? No tomatoes for a salad? What gives? However, maybe it was because it was late and they were out? What was there was limited, but fresh. I'll take quality over quantity. The rest of the salad bar was kind of like a taco bar with piping hot soups and chili and okay buffet fair. My son had the chicken parmesan and he said it was great. The husband had breakfast - sausage is excellent and their pancakes are tasty. My youngest, a toddler, had fruity pancakes with strawberries and didn't like it. The strawberries are the canned variety and not what we were expecting. Overall, we'd probably be back. I think that breakfast bar is probably better than the salad bar, but we will see. No real complaints, prices are average, and food is decent. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a while. I drive by it all the time and finally made the stop today and I am thankful I did. I love the feel of diners and this place didn't disappoint. You walk in to an array of pies and cinnamon rolls at the front counter. We decided to try the breakfast buffet and we were pleasantly surprised. It had a wonderful assortment of bacon, sausages, biscuits and gravy and a lot more including a wide variety of fruit and juices all for $9.99. A lot of buffets have fruit but most places the fruit is tasteless. We were pleasantly surprised that their fruits tasted great. Our waitress was terrific and had a really upbeat personality. I frequent JB's because it is one of the only restaurants near my house and I LOVE their salad bar! I even know which day they don't serve chicken noodle soup (the bomb) so I don't go on those days. Anytime I'm sick and don't feel like making my own soup I go for theirs. I could live off of soup, salad and a baked potato... Their salad bar has all of these. On the weekends they have an amazing all you can eat breakfast buffet. My mother in law swears by their salmon (I've never had it) but she prefers it over many high end restaurants. Everytime I visit here, I'm always satisfied. With there $7.99 salad bar, to there homemade French dip that was a special that day for $6.99. I was able to peacefully work on homework while enjoying my nice lunch and beverage before returning to class. Which we never go to buffets but this particular restaurant happened to be having a Sunday breakfast buffet to our surprise. I really wish I would not have said we will just do the Buffet. We ended up paying almost $50 for 4 waters and food that was barely touched. The food tasted as though it had been cooked for hours in the back and they just kept filling up the buffet. I travel a lot all other the country and eat out way more than the average person. I love Yelp and it has provided me with great guidance all over the country. I try to avoid chains at all costs. There is a JB's near where I live and its better than this one. This JB's was one recommended by relatives in the area who I met here for dinner. The waitress was very nice, the salad bar is about average on the cold side and slightly above average on the hot side. I ordered the all you can eat shrimp and fish. The nice waitress advised me that I couldn't get a "to go box on the special". That was nice to know. The fish was an interesting cut and I couldn't identify what it was (white flaky, fish tasty). It was battered in something like Aunt Jemima pancake teflon. It looked okay, but was a bit chewy. The shrimp was a bit too much on the breaded side and likely fell out of a box in the freezer. My relatives ordered standard fare, pork chops wrapped in BACON!! wow! Seems like an oxymoron with two veggie sides, corn and mashed out of a box taters and gravy. Anyway they said everything was good. The rolls looked good, but I didn't eat one and I love rolls. Hmm? We were told that we could have a trip to the ice cream bar. Wohoo!!! NO CHOCOLATE? This is America, Baby! Well they did let me put all of the chocolate syrup on my strawberry ice cream. And Oreo Crumbles and Cookie crumbles and Chocolate Jimmie Doodles (those are the little chocolate sprinkly things). It's an okay place, probably really good on the breakfast side, but they have a standard truck stop menu and it tasted and looked like it. I won't be back.
