They changed the menu such that you can only get some of the entrees such as the signature brisket and grits if you do the tasting menu. Since we weren't so hungry, we did a la carte. The green tomato kimchi was crisp and the brine was a nice offset to our dishes. The cod beignets were enjoyed by all but I didn't think it is a must do. The kimchi jambalaya was good but has a similar flavor profile as kimchi fried rice for me to get it again. The seafood jjajangmyun was a surprise hit. I'm not the biggest fan of glass noodles but they absorbed the sauce so thoroughly. There's no broth to this, and the seafood didn't necessarily complement it so well especially the shrimp which was relatively unseasoned. I'd come back for the tasting menu when I'm really hungry to try other entrees.

KJUN is a really fun spot if you want something a little different. The menu mixes Korean and Cajun flavors, which you don't see often, and there are plenty of options whether you want to order à la carte or go with the chef's menu. The chef's menu includes a salad, first and second courses, and dessert, and I liked that the servers took the time to explain everything. The two level space is quiet but still inviting, and it works well for both a date or a group. Prices are reasonable for the experience, service was attentive, and I'd definitely come back!

It was an ambitious trek to the city with a toddler but we made it. That was after going to the original spot only to be told the restaurant moved and the ole mister walked right into the metal gate, knocking his noggin, and was nearly concussed. Anyway, the eatery is up the block, sitting at the corner of the street. If we had known, or if they've updated their address online, maybe my husband wouldn't be sporting a bruise on his shiny forehead. On to the food... It was an interesting take on several items. The only thing I would consider ordering again is the seafood jajangmyeon. The jambalaya was underwhelming to say the least. I liked the corn over the rest of the apps. Then again, who can screw up corn?? The establishment have two floors but their first floor requires descending a few steps to access so one would wonder is that a basement. Top floor have the huge windows so every guest wanted to be up there. Toilet is in between the floors, in the middle of the staircase. Better watch your step, or else you would be rollin' with your Kjun!

I already thought Kjun was such a clever name for a Korean Cajun restaurant and then I learned it's also a play on the chef's own Korean name. I ate at her pop-up at Essex Market at the start of the pandemic and then when she opened her first brick and mortar in Murray Hill and am so pleased to have dined here last weekend at her most built out space to date. I've mostly enjoyed her dishes a la carte but she insisted on taking us on a culinary journey of her choosing, so of course we said yes. After the chef took note of our group of 6's dietary restrictions, out came gumbo, kimchi stew, a very delicious umami flavor bomb that was a marinated boiled egg topped with creme fraiche and caviar. Korean fried chicken, watermelon salad, a shrimp and black bean shrimp noodle dish, and lots of steak. Some dishes were evidently a fusion of Korean and Cajun flavors, but others felt strictly Korean. Everything I tried was flavorful, though I found some of the portions a bit precious, particularly since we were sharing as a group. The meat eaters in the group left full because there was so much steak brought out to the table, but the tofu alternative brought out for me wasn't quite enough to leave me sated. We were all willing to be spendy for this meal, but I think I would have gotten more if I had just ordered a la carte. We paid about ~$80 per person and I don't feel like I got $80 worth of food. I would gladly return but would personally opt out of the tasting menu journey.

Stopped by on a whim and it was a great decision!!! The place was full so we sat at the bar stool area ... this place it small but the staff was very friendly. We ordered a kalbi burger with gumbo and a kimchi jambalaya. The flavor was just amazing. I had the burger and the combo of burger and the sauces and flavors it has combined with the gumbo was just perfection! The patty was perfectly cooked. A medium cook on the meat was so juicy and very well seasoned. The gumbo was just perfection. My husband had the kimchi jambalaya and I will say, for someone that doesn't like kimchi this was so well made. Not too over powering ... I liked it when I tried it. My husband loved it!

Having been to New Orleans in the beginning of the year I was excited when I found out about this restaurant that has Korean food and Cajun food fusion. We got the $77 menu set. The banchan has watermelon rinds, okra and potatoes. It was my first time trying the watermelon rind! It was salty, sour and crunchy. It opened our appetite on a hot day. From the menu, we watermelon salad, chicken and andouille gumbo, oysters, japchae boudin balls, for main course we got galbi brisket &grits and blue crab curry and blueberry smash soju cocktail. Loved the blue crab curry. Sad that there is no ac on the top floor where we sat. Has only 75 minutes to dine which was a bit rushed. The waiter told us about 6 minutes prior the limit ended. It would be better to let us know about 10-15 minutes ahead of time because we were rushing to eat the dessert. I didn't eat much of the dessert. It consists of a strawberry cream cake, pecan pastries and yakult drinks for each guest. Food were great nevertheless.

I wanted to have a nice meal during a very transformative time in my life in one of my favorite places in the world. I was able to get a solo resy and I was seated at the counter when I arrived. The space is very small and cozy; the staff makes use of all the space. I ended up having a reasonably priced prix fixe meal with 5 courses and enjoyed almost everything. The catfish was good but would much rather preferred more of a hard fry vs a pan fry. The grits were insanely creamy and rich, solid take on BBQ shrimp, and loved the Korean flavor profile of the greens. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the pecan pie/tartlet; very hard and dry. Despite that hiccup, I would love to return and give the rest of the menu a try. As one who lives in the Gulf Coast, this is probably some of the best cajun/creole I've had in NYC.

Made reservations and were promptly seated. We ordered a bunch of dishes and while the initial shock was great - delicious fusion flavors mixed together, I don't know if I'll come back. The price point was high but the presentation isn't it.

2.5/5 Nothing wow-ed me even though I thought a Korean + Cajun sounded very interesting. My friends and I had a reservation for 5:30 on a Thursday and we ordered the Galbi Brisket & Grits (2/5 meat couldve been better ), Seafood Jjajangmyun (2/5) I can tell what they're trying to do but it executed poorly like the taste was just not here, and BBQ Pork Ribs (3/5 this was mega odd but some parts of the ribs were soft and juicy but the other parts were really touch to chew. Nothing wow-ed me.

This was one of the more unique fusion cuisines (Korean + Creole) I've had in a great way. Free Amuse-Bouche (1/5): I forgot the name of it, but it was free so it won't count towards the rating. Was a bit too acidic for me, and needed to wash it down with water after. Chicken Liver Pate (5/5): This was pretty much my favorite dish and one of the best sourdough's I've ever had. The chicken liver was very rich and flavorful, and the melon/plum was a solid contrast. Seafood Jjajangmyun (5/5): Almost like a squid ink-infused japchae. Has a unique flavor profile, and the shrimp + calamari were a nice compliment. The decor stayed true to its menu as the walls contained traditional Korean folk art, while the general interior felt like I was in New Orleans. I would definitely come back to try the Kimchi Jambalaya, Japchae Boudin Balls, and Kjun Chicken Sando.

good deal (118 for a dinner for two, which comes with 2 sides, 1 starter, 2 mains and dessert) but I think the food is just not my cup of tea to start, the ambiance is very cozy - the restaurant itself is really small and the service is super attentive and welcoming for the food - I actually really enjoyed the sides - they offered the okra kimchi complimentary which I surprisingly loved, and the green tomato and watermelon were also super refreshing for the starter, we opted japchae ball - it was solid but honestly did not tasted super special. sort of just an arancini stuffed with meat, I barely tasted the glass noodles for the mains, we got the jjangmyeon and the fried chicken. the noodle texture was not like your typical jjangmyeon and the fishy seafood flavor was a bit too strong for my personal liking. and the fried chicken was a bit too heavy and coated, but I am personally just not a fan of southern style fried chicken the dessert was pretty amazing though. the pecan pie was light and crunchy and the sweet potato mousse was so unique and not sweet at all this spot is great if you love southern style food but it's personally just not for me!

What can I say about this place besides it's a must go ! Pin it and make it happen you won't be disappointed. Went on a Saturday evening had reservations (they were fully booked) - although the space was small every space was utilized well and everyone had their privacy ( great date night for sure ) Everyone including the chef and owner were conversing and working at the same time - best service I've been too for sometime. No BS just common ground for good food and its origins. Every food tells a story, KJUN was about friendship and a bond. Korean and Cajun soul. We opt for the tasting menu although it was meant for 3 they said sure we will make it for 2 - well let me tell you we were both stuffed to the rim ! Just look at those pics ! And we took food home ! I would highly recommend just going there and try everything the jambalaya was epic , fried chicken seasoning on point, shrimp and grits you'll lick the bowl. The honey chips ( OMG) I can eat a whole bag! Only thing is I had no room for desserts so didn't get to enjoy it! I look forward to returning but will try the other items I've missed !

I had a fantastic experience here! Everyone was so friendly and the server was so nice to give me recommendations. It's a cute little restaurant that's dark and cozy, but very small so you're bumping elbows with those around you. I got the prix fixe menu for 1, which was about $60 (includes 1 snack, 2 sides, 1 main, 1 dessert). For the amount of food you get, the price is super reasonable! I left feeling very full. Snack: Japchae boudin balls: 9/10. These were great! Fried perfectly and the sauce that came with it was also super yummy. It tasted kind of like deep fried egg roll filling with the japchae noodles. Sides: Green tomato kimchi 9/10, Pear salad 8/10. The green tomato kimchi was so unique! It was very tangy and refreshing, and the crunch was amazing! It was the perfect side for my main to cut out the heaviness. It's different from other kimchi i've had, I wasn't expecting it to be in a more watery liquid. The pear salad was good as well, but nothing memorable. Main: Galbi and grits: 10/10 This was spectacular. Truly so unique and an amazing combo of flavors! The grits were very rich and cheesy, which was balanced by the sweet galbi. It also had cherry tomato kimchi and I believe pickled radish which helped with flavor fatigue. I loved this! Dessert: Strawberry yummy: 5/10. This was essentially like a cornbread tres leches. The ratio was off, I only got a tiny square of cornbread and it was about 70% cream! The flavors didn't really stand out to me. Despite this, I still give KJUN 5 stars bc the other food is that good!! I would love to try the other dishes

The first thing I noticed was how clean the restaurant was. It's a smaller space, but everything was spotless. Our hostess was incredibly friendly and seemed to be doing it all seating guests, making cocktails, checking in on tables, and even folding napkins and prepping utensils for the next customers. She never missed a beat. Since it was Restaurant Week, they were offering a $60 seafood boil special that included an appetizer, a boil, and dessert. My date and I decided to share everything, so we ordered the Cajun spaghetti and the Restaurant Week boil, adding a whole lobster for an extra $20. We also ordered drinks. I had the Raspberry Martini, and he had the Clawlatta, their take on a piña colada. Both cocktails were beautifully presented and perfectly balanced. Even though there were only two of us, our waiter pulled another table over so we had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the full seafood boil experience. It was a thoughtful touch that we appreciated. The Cajun spaghetti came out first, and it was delicious. It had a rich, flavorful sauce with a nice kick of spice that lingered at the end without being overwhelming. Then... came the BOIL!! I ordered the garlic butter seasoning with mild spice. The bag arrived piping hot, filled with plenty of shrimp, the whole lobster, potatoes, and lots of flavorful buttery broth. Everything was fresh, hot, and seasoned perfectly. It was messy in the best way and absolutely delicious. When we first arrived, there was only one other occupied table. By the time we left, the restaurant had filled up with several larger groups, yet the service and attention to us, was consistent. Every dish came out hot and savory, the hostess and waiter remained attentive throughout our meal, our water glasses were never empty, and the overall hospitality was excellent. Including drinks, the lobster upgrade, tax, and tip, our total came to about $175 for two people. Considering the quality of the food, generous portions, drinks, and outstanding service, I thought it was well worth it. I would definitely come back.

Everything came out super quick and everyone was friendly and attentive even though they were busy on a Friday evening. We were so shocked how delicious the appetizers were!! We ate it super fast while we waited for our main seafood combo. Our combo came out on a beautiful giant platter and we all stared at it asking ourselves how will we finish all this? Amazing food, vibe and service!…read more Since I knew we would be in the city Sunday and would probably want to brunch before the concert that night, I looked up a bunch of places and this one kept catching my eye. We almost wouldn't have been able to go because I waited until that day to make reservations and it seemed like they were all booked up. But luckily, my boyfriend had a great idea to call to see if anything was available. Although I was only communicating with an automated system/ai rep, it was able to find reservations for 1:45. We took it and it was worth the wait! This is a very cute spot in Tribeca. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted, checked in for our reservation and seated immediately. Walking up, there is a little outdoor covered seating section that is set on the street next to the sidewalk. Inside, there was a jazz trio performing to the right when you first walk in. As we headed and got to our seats, we saw that behind the bar/counter seating they had the flattop cooking station so you could see the chefs preparing all the food; the bar was also in that area. We knew beforehand about the unlimited drinks option so we of course went with that - $36/person and had like 4 different brunch drink options you can rotate through over the 90 minutes. Our server came over pretty quickly to introduce herself and get our initial order. I was hoping to try out the Biscuits & Cajun Crab Gravy but they ran out of biscuits, so I ended up ordering the Chicken & Beignets instead. Boyfriend went with the Shrimp and Tasso Country Grits. Omg... Everything was delicious! Chicken had the perfect crisp and cook, beignets baked just right so they were soft and well complimented with the blueberry compote. And I had a bit of the grits - so creamy, perfect texture with a unique yet satisfying flavor with the sauce. Could kind of taste the coffee but also felt like there was something like a hint of curry or something in that red sauce - it was very good! Highly recommend checking this place out (make reservations for the weekend!). Because there are more things on this menu we would want to try, we said we have to try to come back very soon

I got the shrimp, potato, and corn boil. It was soooo garlicky and yummy. The price was right, and…read moreit was a good amount of food. Service was okay, however the restaurant does get packed so pick a good time to go! Thank you all for your hard work and delicious seafood boils!

After the longest debate and with no other option close by, my colleague and I finally decided to…read moregive them a try since the reviews seemed promising. I ordered the 1lb shrimp, head on, mild garlic butter while my colleague ordered the 1lb crawfish, spicy juicy. I liked how it came in buckets. Too bad they only gave us one pair of gloves though. At our office, we work through lunch instead of having a set lunch break so that becomes twice as inconvenient. I have always been loyal to the garlic butter regardless of where I go so I did not know what to expect when I got a taste of my colleague's sauce. It was sour, spicy, salty, a lot going on at once. It was not bad but it was not my cup of tea. My own sauce on the other hand, was only flavored by salt and garlic. There was no butter flavor going on at all. Kind of disappointing. I really appreciated the amount of garlic though. My bucket was interesting because I found that my middle layer of shrimp had the same sauce as my coworker. Overall flavor profile was just salty though. They put way too much salt. As for the seafood itself, I would say it was ok. There was only a handful that did not seem all too fresh. The rest was alright. Would I order from them again? Sure. But only when I'm really craving seafood boil with no time to travel the distance for something else.

More like 0.8 lb. We peel the shrimp ourselves. The lack of shell (and water between meat) reduces the weight
