My wife and I were staying at the hotel for our honeymoon and wanted some coffee before our planned day to North shore. We were looking over the menu and the barista seemed a little upset we weren't ready to order and gave us a hand menu. (I could see if there was a line behind us, but there wasn't. It was just us). If I wanted the smaller menu I would had grabbed that. We seemed rushed and the lady gave us a little attitude when we were browsing. After deciding a drink, she seemed still angry- talking with the other girl. I felt a little awkward. I didn't tip and again, felt hostility. Even the girl making our drink seemed a little on edge. Not sure if the workers just don't like their job or what. We decided not to go back there for the rest of the stay. Such a shame because the hotel and the trip was so enjoyable. The butterfly pea tea latte was just what I was looking for, especially since I am not a coffee drinker and prefer a gentler drink in the mornings to calm nerves. Paired this drink with soy milk, and it was also sweetened some with vanilla syrup. I think they add a little lemon to color the tea, but it wasn't tart at all. The tea is mild in flavor and delicious. If you're looking for something sweeter, stronger, caffeinated, and extra -- skip this drink. It'll actually be a great latte for kids now that I think about it. My partner had the coffee and the croissant. He says they were good but nothing special. read more

Great place to grab coffee, grab some hearty food, or work remote! I came here on a Monday at around 9:00am and it wasn't too busy! Plenty of seating, and it was open and airy. I wanted to sit in an area where I could experience that indoor/outdoor feel, and I was not disappointed! The Wi-Fi is also pretty good as well, and there are some outlets along the wall, which makes working remotely here pretty easy. I got the Longboard latte, with oat milk and it was delicious! I really mainly came here to enjoy the natural breeze and the island vibes that this coffee place had to offer, and again, it did not disappoint! Overall, great spot to work remotely or enjoy some coffee with a great atmosphere. I will definitely try to come back to try some of their food! read more

You have the option of sitting behind a cozy bench with cushioned back support, bar stool, hotel lounge seating, or the array of chairs on the outside terrace looking at Waikikis foot traffic. Visited Knots after seeing a post about their Basque-style cheesecake. I'm always up for adventure, especially when it comes to food, so I decided to try it. If you want to order one of their cheesecakes, it must be done in advance through their website, it's pretty easy but quantities are limited. I went in on Sunday. It was a bit busy, but not too hectic. I haven't been to the QK before, but the renovation looks great. After a few minutes in line, gave them my name and picked up my cheesecake. Service was friendly and all COVID precautions were being taken. In terms of the cheesecake, fluffy inside with good flavor. The outside has a rich flavor that compliments the inside well. Agree with most of what others are saying. Staff members aren't very friendly or helpful. No welcome or aloha upon arriving. The cashier stand is a bit hidden behind a wall, so when I asked one of the staff members where do I order, she just awkwardly nodded towards the left side. The black cold brew was pretty good, although portion is a bit small for the price you pay. The one redeeming quality of this place, is definitely the wifi and plentiful seating area. If you're looking to sit at a coffee table and work / study remotely, this is a pretty good spot since all of the tables along the wall have a wall plug for your electronics. In addition, although the cafe closes at 4PM the seating area and wifi is still available for use after the cafe has closed because it's located in the lobby of the Queen Kapi'olani hotel. read more

We have had great experiences here in the past on previous visits so we decided to bring our family here for breakfast while they were visiting on vacation this morning. We were so excited to have them try it and it turned out to be the worst decision. We had terrible service with a couple of our orders never coming out. After almost an hour of waiting we went to ask and the staff apparently placed our food down on the counter and someone else ate it instead of taking it to our table like the other orders. Why do they give out big numbers if the staff isn't going to try and find your table to give you your food?! Also the photos attached are from previous visits. They now serve it in to-go containers and plastic silverware even though you are dining in. So presentation and overall dining experience has plummeted. We also ordered a coffee float that is suppose to come with a cookie...they didn't add one or mention anything upon ordering nor when they brought it to table. When I asked they said "oh we are out" after I asked "well do you have a substitute" then they said "you can go ahead and grab a cookie from over there". The worst part of the dining experience was while speaking to the staff trying to figure out what happened with our food... not only did they give us attitude but we had to request a refund for the food that was not delivered since they did not have the professional capacity to do that themselves. Staff customer service training is desperately needed for these employees. Regretfully disappointed on bringing our family here and we will likely not be dining here again nor recommending it to our family and friends. I would give it 3.5 rather than 3. Tried the macadamia nut latte less sweetened despite that I found it bit too sweet for my liking. The only things going here are the convenience and the actual hotel building itself. Honestly, Starbucks does a better job, and I can't stand Starbucks. From nighttime to daytime, staff is so hit or miss on if they can make a drink it's sad. Attitudes mostly say I don't like working here, and I like you even less. The food is from The Deck just for your awareness. They are not separate entities. 3 days in a row of we don't have all of these ingredients or can't make these items. During my first visit, I ordered the butterfly pea milk tea, partially because it looks so beautiful in the picture of the sandwich board in the lobby. It was a kind of vivid purple and decorate it with an orc. What I received from the barista was a completely different color. When I asked her if I ordered the right thing, she just poured some milk and it handed it back to me. I'm not even sure if she made me the right thing but her attitude made me not want to deal with her anymore. I came back another afternoon for happy hour. I ordered the kimchi hot dog and a mai tai. The might I was like nothing I've ever tasted before. In a bad way. It was a very strange cocktail. the hot dog was okay, but it was overdone and the casing was unbelievably thick and tough to chew The coffee shop has to order food from the restaurant upstairs so it can take 10 to 20 minutes for your food to arrive. Pack your patience. I also ordered the Tokyo soft serve, which was an interesting creation. The bottom layer was coffee flavored Jell-Owith a layer of soft serve on top and decorated with an anchor shaped cookie. Wasn't the best dessert I've had, but it was an interesting experience.I'm all about trying something new... Especially on vacation. The only redeeming quality is the seating area. There are lots of seats at the bar and in the lobby area. Andsince this eating is open-air, it's a great place to catch the breeze and if you sit close enough to the entrance of the hotel, you can soak up a little sun and people watch. I've been coming to this place almost every day as a regular customer who always need her daily caffeine fix. This is my number one favorite coffee shop in Honolulu. I have my own preferences for the way my coffee should taste like and I was never a fan of Starbucks so this is definitely the place. It's located in the Queen Kapiolani hotel facing towards the Honolulu zoo. It has a very spacious outdoor patio so you would enjoy the breeze while working remotely or studying with your coffee or food. They have power outlets everywhere and the wifi is pretty stable while it's being password protected so you should take advantage of it. There are also more rooms indoors with lots of different seating so overall, it's super comfortable and relaxed environment for work or study. I love the way they always make my iced mocha and it was perfectly well made with fair amount of caffeine and chocolate. It wasn't too sweet or less sweet so it was perfectly balanced in the between. I even enjoy their food including the pastries. They have so many options in order to meet up your craving expectations or whatever you're in the mood for. So far I tried out with Tokyo fluffy pancakes, the famous diamond head breakfast without any meat, the açaí bowl and some pastries like chocolate croissant and mini raspberry croissants. Everything was so freshly hot (except açaí bowl), cooked well and some were pretty tasty but the flavors need to be improved more because everything tastes very light probably too safe in that way. My favorite dish from their menu would be the açaí bowl so far because it was the best taste I ever experienced in the Waikiki area with freshly chopped fruit and honey sauce on the top. I even bring a lot of my visiting friends here and they were never disappointed with everything they ordered such as: iced mocha, iced queen cappuccino, iced vanilla latte, chai latte, regular hot coffee, etc. They all stated that it has great flavors in it, great coffee quality and it was all well prepared in a good timely manner too. read more
