I really wanted an ice coffee before heading to the airport so I looked up places around my hotel and found this gem. Yulia was the lady who helped me and I told her I wanted a macadamia nut type of iced latte and she said "I know the perfect drink". She started making a concoction with all different organic syrups and even asked my sweetness preference. She was absolutely lovely to talk to and made my last day here amazing. So happy I came across this place.

Saw this coffee bar pop up randomly so I had to give it a try since they were dog friendly! I drove past this area to see where exactly it was in Waikiki and it didn't look too far from Ala Moana. I thought that their coffee art was so cute so I really wanted to come and give them a try. Parking is pretty much non existent here so we walked. Upon getting to the shop we inquired about the coffee art and it appears that the person who does it only works on certain days and the person who was currently there was brand new. We decided to stay since we already came all the way here and our other option was at the other end of Waikiki. I ordered the iced latte and my friend got an Americano. While mine was bearable. Hers was not. Lol. Her coffee was burnt and was hard to even finish. She only had a few sips and called it a day. Maybe I'll come back when the real barista is working, but I'm sure there are other places out there that has better coffee.

    Great Bloody Mary!

Great Bloody Mary! The bartender was busy and moving fast. My friend raved about the ham and cheese croissant.

Smallest bat I've found near the beach. View of the smallest pool too! Limited selection but cold beer and legit Whiskey cocktails with the ice blocks. Always friendly service!

The bartender was so cool! He let me ride the elevator up a few stories to snap a quick pic of the sunset! So special!

This is a cute little bar and I noticed them before I stayed at the Equus. I remember walking by with my husband and I said, that's a cute little bar. He wasn't interested in going. But after checking in, we were given a complimentary drink and it was good. Two beers, a rose, or a cocktail and I'm glad that I had that opportunity. The bartender was really nice and clearly loved his job. My husband and I sat down for a while to enjoy our drinks before going out to dinner. The cocktail is made to order and was quite good. The next morning we went down to have a coffee. My husband ordered a bagel with lox and really enjoyed it. Again, the bartender was cutting radishes for the avocado toast and again seemed to enjoy being there. It was raining and cold, but it was fun there during our small stay. So, if I ever come to the area again, I will definitely come there to enjoy a drink and talk to one of the nicest bartenders (both of them) ever.

A friend visited recently and invited me to meet for some drinks. I had walked past the little staircase leading up to Paniolo Bar countless times but finally had an excuse to go. It was a mixed experience to say the least. Loved: the physical bar is cozy and cool. It's situated between two buildings and very easy to get to walking. You feel like you're on a deck with bar stools, seats, and couches all of the outdoor variety. I could not get over how pleasant the cross breeze was despite how hot it was that day. Definitely a little oasis. Other patrons were friendly and clearly happy to be there. I enjoyed watching the hotel guests come in on check-in for their complimentary welcome drink. They also have a great selection of beer in cans and bottles (including many local selections), and liquor. Despite the below, I had a great time and conversation with my friend. Didn't love: the bartender was inattentive to the point of almost completely ignoring us. Not a welcome, no drink order when I sat down. She was unfriendly the entire time, even with a little attitude toward other guests. I can see this might be a negative first impression for visitors. The glassware was dirty as well, I didn't bother saying anything in fear of making service worse. I also was unimpressed watching how they made and handled the food choices behind the bar; order with caution.

Absolutely recommend, easy and I can't believe I hadn't been here before. I will definitely remember to come back here for breakfast, cold coffees on a hot day, lunch sandwiches, and evening drinks. Sandy is the real deal. She's making the day for everyone and making it look easy w a beautiful smile, kind eyes and a warm heart. We will be back ---probably tomorrow if y'all are open for New Year's Day!

We went to Paniolo for the first time on my friend's birthday since we've been in Hawaii, even though we have passed by for many many times. Their signature paniolo punch was pretty good. But if you want something stronger, I'd recommend the needle in the haystack. Very interesting! The bartender was super nice. Once he knew it was my friend's birthday, he offered a free shot. However, we were both at our capacity so we had to refuse it. But will definitely visit again if we are looking for a place to drink and chat.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

The server didn't come for about 10 minutes where I asked to be moved. I was moved to a covered table and we got a new server where we promptly ordered. My sons kids meal came out and his tenders were actually delicious as well as the fries . My food took over 20 minutes to arrive only after I made eye contact with my server and he rushed to the back to grab my food, I'm guessing he had forgotten about it because my short rib arrived cold. Like literally cold to the touch. The mashed potatoes were warm and those were great as well as the veggies . I didn't complain because nobody ever came back to check us on or offer a refill or anything . To pay was a hassle also as they only had 1 server helping and he was tied up with a big table for over 20 minutes that was arguing how to split up a bill. I eventually flagged down a bartender and she went and grabbed my original server from the back. The whole night things kept going wrong . I did have a mai tai earlier in the day from their happy hour which was great but dinner is a no-go for me here now.

That's a shame because it has the potential to be very good. When you start with a cocktail concept that is deliberately kept low key with no signage, and a drink menu that rotates and evolves, you have a pretty good floor to start. Having a cozy place to settle in and being able to enjoy food from Chris Kajioka should give 430 Pkwy a high ceiling. If you like an espresso martini try something a little different. Their Espressing My Love batches espresso with Averna, black walnut bitters, and a unique monkeypod syrup. Unfortunately, there is no espresso machine so you cannot get fresh drawn espresso to make a Carajillo the way Cafe Miro use to. The ahi brioche is a carry over from all Chris Kajioka places. The grilled cheese is excellent. Hotdogs are kicked up - it used to be a black truffled miso chicken sausage but the current one is a little different. The problem is the food preparation totally undermines the whole place. Without a separate kitchen you have frying being done just a few feet away from where cocktails are made. If you sit on the right side of the bar you will quickly understand why this doesn't work. I would come here more frequently if i didn't have to smell like cooking oil afterwards. Fix that problem and this place would rock.

Apparently you're normally supposed to put a coin in to open the secret door, but it's broken right now, so the whole vending machine just swings right open. Slightly less secret, but still very cool. Inside is where this place really shines. Moody lighting, a giant orange tree in the middle of the room, Japanese hip hop playing in the background (I want to steal this entire playlist), and extremely cool and friendly servers and bartenders. I've been to a few other attempted "speakeasies" in Honolulu, but most are basically just dark bars with a fun door or code word. Wild Orange actually has the VIBES to make the whole concept work. Definitely worth coming just to hang out and chill. They have a full bar and an extensive specialty cocktail menu. Tried the Purple Dragon, made with ube liqueur and coconut cream. Very sweet--a little TOO sweet for my taste--but tasty and pretty. Probably should have listened to the menu and kept it as a shot, but I wanted something I could sip on for a while and chill. The Umeshu Highball was also very pretty and tasty. My friend who works as a sake distributor was impressed with their selection of good sake, so of course we had to order a bottle. Our server brought it out in an ice bucket, kept it off to the side, and completely served it for us throughout. Very classy. The food menu is fun and creative, but unfortunately not really for me because it's entirely vegan. Most times, but ESPECIALLY when I'm drinking, I want MEAT. Tried the Wild Musubi, a vegan Spam musubi. I'm not actually sure what the "meat" was. Possibly fried tofu? Whatever it was, it was definitely a passable alternative, but would have been 100x better if it were just plain old Spam. It also falls victim to what I find is a common problem with vegan attempts at Japanese food: anything teriyaki ends up being way too treacly sweet without actual meat or seafood to ground it in reality. Also tried the Char Siu Tofu Bao, fried tofu in a red Chinese-style char siu sauce on fluffy white buns. Again, fun and certainly not bad, but these would be 1000x better with actual pork. If Wild Orange had this exact same creative food menu but carnivore edition, this place would probably be 7/5 stars for me. That being said, I know being vegan will actually be a huge draw for some people, and I appreciate that the food is creative rather than just the usual sad vegan afterthoughts. Parking is pretty easy by Honolulu standards. It's inside Hawaiian Brian's, so there's a large shared parking lot. That being said, you might still have trouble finding a spot during peak gym hours since you're competing with all the 24 Hour Fitness customers. All in all, I LOVE this place. Definitely a fun stop--first, middle, only, or nightcap--on a chill night out. Will absolutely be adding Wild Orange into the rotation of places to bring out-of-town guests when I want to impress them with something cool and different. The vegan menu probably means it'll be a couple-times-a-year place for me rather than a regular haunt. But for drinks, service, atmosphere, and pure VIBES? 20/10.
