Service is not attentive. We have been here twice now and they don't acknowledge you when you're in line. They make eye contact but they won't greet you. The reason why we went back was their breakfast menu. I've been wanting to get a bagel with cream cheese while my fiance loves his banana toast. The lox and bagel are okay, would have been nice if they hadn't forgotten the onions. Cream cheese had no flavor so it doesn't do much to the bagel. For the banana toast, they use cream cheese instead of peanut butter-very interesting. Coffee is okay. Their breezy brown sugar latte is so sweet! So the second visit I got their Americano. And it was much better. Their expresso is decent but Kai's is better. read more

We stayed in the Queen Kapiolani hotel for the week and stopped in here to use two of the free coupons we received. The service and food and drink were so good, we decided to stop in there multiple times. The drink selection is pretty good, especially the matcha drink selections. The pastries are good, including the breakfast sandwich. We went so often that we became regulars! read more

Love this place for the ambiance and it is spacious! Great location for a morning coffee, seasonal lattes or light breakfast. I had the Gilmore Girls lattte and the breakfast burrito. You get a complimentary coffee and croissant or yogurt for your stay per guest. The burrito and croissant was delicious! We loved the white mocha iced coffee!! It was very smooth and delicious! Peyton and Skylar were great baristas; friendly when explaining the menu options and got my coffee and food (açaí bowl with fresh fruit) out quickly. I love this lobby around the coffee shop because it is open air and has a steady breeze that keeps it cool. I've never had a hard time finding seating and there are spots inside or out on the lanai. read more

Taking a break in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii... We were actually looking for dessert at Knots Coffee Roasters, but their machine was broken. The cashier apologized. Note: They have a special "Tokyo-style soft serve" that's supposed to be really good because it has coffee jelly in it... oh, well... we can try again later... Located in the Queen Kapiolani Hotel, we were passing by (after lunch) on the way to our cars. Since we were there, we got beverages... because it was a warm July afternoon... My Mango Peach Tea was slightly sweetened upon request. It was a nice, fruity, refreshing pick-me-up so that we could continue on to dinner... LOL! I'd return for other menu items, too - such as: Braised Beef Loco Moco, açai bowl, and salmon avocado toast! So many things sound delicious! I was gonna leave after I got it, but I smelled it. It was delicious, I ordered it hot and she put a little heart for me. It's the small things for me. She smiled when I told her it was delicious. Knots Coffee Roasters is pleasant space to catch up with friends or get some work done. The open cafe has plenty of seating with outlets and beautiful, natural lighting. Despite the location being right by the road, the Waikīkī sounds become ambient noise and the cafe is quiet enough focus on work. I asked for an iced matcha latte with light vanilla. The matcha flavor isn't strong so the latte mostly tastes like vanilla. I would come back again to enjoy the space, but I'd try another drink. **The birds are aggressive. This is not the business' fault because the birds are aggressive everywhere in Waikīkī but worth noting. I probably wouldn't feel comfortable eating an entire meal at this cafe out of fear that a bird would sweep by and steal something. read more

A solid little cafe in the Queen K hotel. I stayed in the hotel, making it quite easy for my morning coffee. Coffee was really good. I didn't partake in food as sit was quite pricey. The seating area is an open air-ish concept making it quite lovely to enjoy. I spent many a morning on my laptop enjoying the morning sea breeze just a few blocks away. Overall, a great laid-back hotel cafe. Not a destination, but if nearby or staying at the hotel, a solid spot for a coffee and a sit. read more

Though a different bartender came back with a sparkler option for her. Needless to say, I felt pushed aside and I don't believe I'll be back to this location any time soon. We stopped by Knots Coffee Roasters for a quick afternoon snack after strolling over from the Honolulu Zoo across the street while we read some good reviews from others. The café is set inside an open-air hotel lobby, which gives it a hip, laid-back vibe. However, the atmosphere was a bit off--several people were napping at tables, which made the space feel more like a lounge than a welcoming café. The staff was friendly and polite, but not very attentive. We had to flag someone down just to place an order, and during our entire visit, not a single table was cleaned, which didn't leave the best impression. What We Ordered: Butterfly Peaberry Latte w/ Oat Milk - Visually striking, but lacked flavor. We couldn't taste any of the vanilla or lemon notes that were supposed to come through. Nice color, but nothing special beyond that. Iced Mango Peach Tea - Had a pleasant aroma, but the flavor was almost nonexistent. Not sweet as we expected--but we'll take the blame for not asking in advance. Tokyo-Style Pancakes - Took 25 minutes to arrive (we were told 15), as they're prepared in the hotel kitchen. They were decent for the kids, but lacked the fluffiness we hoped for. Not worth the price overall. I was quite disappointed with the overall experience at this Waikiki hotel coffee shop. The quality of service and food did not meet the standard I would expect from a venue in this area. While the coffee was acceptable, the food was unfortunately far below expectations. I ordered the "Tokyo-style" pancake, which turned out to be more reminiscent of a McDonald's pancake than the fluffy, airy Japanese-style pancake it's meant to resemble. As seen in the attached photo, it lacked the characteristic height and texture typically achieved by incorporating whipped egg whites. Additionally, the fruit served with the pancake was underwhelming. Aside from a few blueberries, the rest of the fruit appeared to be canned or not fresh. What's pictured is all that came with the dish, which was very minimal--especially for a $20 menu item. I was also told the wait time would be 15-20 minutes, which I was fine with, but the order took 43 minutes to arrive. During that time, the staff did not display the same level of friendliness and attentiveness I've experienced at other local coffee shops. Great for those staying at the hotel or nearby, but if you are driving you can park with valet at the hotel, across the street at the zoo, or find street parking. They offer coffee, specialty coffees, teas, specialty cocktails and bakery items. There is space to sit on the counter, tables nearby or you can take your drinks and enjoy on the lobby furniture. The coffee is great, the breakfast options are delicious, and their baked items (scones and breads) are rich and delicious! The baristas are happy and seem to love their jobs. Shoutout to Julian for his expertise in recommendations -- ie Macadamia milk with lattes (not cappuccinos) I ALWAYS get a cold brew (less ice) because it is honestly my FAVORITE cold brew on the island! The woman who took my order was smiley, pleasant, and patient. All businesses should have employee morale that matches Kai Coffee -- happy employees make a happy environment which leads to happy (and repeat!) customers like me! The seating, both indoors and patio, are comfortable. When sitting at the long indoor table, you'll likely make some new friends from around the globe! Also, if you walk across the street (beach side) there's a little Kai spot as well to order and sit and watch the beach- and surf-goers.

It doesn't take very long for the baristas to prepare drinks; usually if I'm the only one waiting, it may only take 1-2 minutes. I typically love ordering the Vietnamese coffee here, as it's the right balance of strong/bitter and sweet. The drink is a lil expensive but to be expected as the shop is located in Waikiki. I didn't see a restroom or notice indications of free WiFi; however, there are plenty of goodies to buy and seat to lounge in.
