I have lived here my whole life and never been to Ko Sushi until this year. It is exactly the kind of Japanese restaurant that you want in your neighborhood - so affordable, with great variety, and it's not too busy, so you can always walk in and grab a table. The first time I came here I got the lunch special, which is an entire bento box, comes with ice cream at the end, and comes out to around $13. It's a deal you can't find anywhere else in the city. I had been here once before on my friend's recommendation, and decided to order delivery yesterday to try one of their other dishes. To start off, my experience within the restaurant was a great one. We were greeted warmly by the staff, and brought to a table right away. It's a very calm atmosphere, and the staff were all extremely friendly. I wanted a light dinner, so I ordered two rolls of sushi (6 pieces each), and a garden salad, with the classic carrot ginger dressing. They also have a daily happy hour, where you can get a glass of wine (red or white) or a beer for $5 each. My friend got the chicken teriyaki. Yesterday, I decided to order delivery from Ko Sushi, and the experience was just as pleasant. It came extremely fast- I scheduled my delivery for 12pm, and it arrived early at 11:45. I got the tofu teriyaki with brown rice, which comes with a complimentary salad, as well as steamed veggies on the side. I will absolutely be ordering this dish again, because the tofu was prepared just the way I like it- soft tofu that's lightly breaded and fried, so it has a slight bite, but is smooth on the inside. I live close to Ko Sushi. Last week we decided to try it out. We are not going back. The fish was not fresh. Only the salmon sashimi was good. I don't know how can a sushi restaurant make bad miso soup. Rolls were $16-17 and had no taste. It was a waste of money. The service wasn't good either. There were many waiters but none of them was our waiter. We would have to repeat to whoever comes by. The worst part is that the place is not clean and looks rundown. I'd give zero stars if it were an option. This place is gross. They are a sushi restaurant serving raw fish and don't display a grade in the window. They have a grade pending, that they're trying to get upgraded from a B. I no longer eat there or get take out. Their grade from last June was a 78 point violation! When there's a thousand sushi places in one city, how do you decide which to go to? I was looking for a lunch bento or special and came across Ko Sushi. The wait staff was very friendly, but I did feel a little rushed; the moment I finished my soup, the bowl was gone, same for the salad. A classic miso soup and ginger salad combo to start the meal. The sushi itself was very tasty, however the pieces of fish were way too big for the tiny bit of rice hidden underneath. Wish the dumpling was included with all lunch specials. A nice weekday last minute go-to neighborhood Japanese restaurant. Can find a table here quickly even without reservation. Efficient is the service. Fresh are their coarsely cut and rolled sushi. Tasty is their "Miso Black Cod", though on this visit, my cod was not flaky and moist for it was overcooked. Still, a decent meal it is at a decent price for this area. 3.5 Stars. Maybe 4. The seaweed used for the hand rolls is too hard to bite off. Too bad because the kani salad, house salad and shrimp appetizer were all good. The sake, himachi, maguro and hotate nigiri were all good. So was the shrimp tempura roll. The kids loved the vanilla and green tea ice cream. We have ordered sushi/sashimi from Ko a few times during the pandemic. It was always fresh but they cut their fish WAAAYYY too thick. It makes the mouth feel totally off. My husband and I are big fans of this sushi spot. Our staple is the sushi deluxe dinner which comes with 9 pieces of sushi and a tuna roll on the side. You are able to sub another roll for the tuna roll for only an extra dollar, so I always switch to a salmon avocado roll. It also comes with soup or salad on the side and a choice of ice cream for dessert on the house. The portions are very large, and I often have trouble finishing it. Some of the pieces are so large that it takes two bites to eat them. I appreciate the amount of food you get for the money. The fish is also very fresh, and my husband and I feel that the freshness and quality of the fish only improved during the pandemic. We also really like the aged tofu appetizer. It's basically a lightly fried tofu in a heavenly sweet and salty broth. The seaweed salad and hijiki are also delicious healthy starters which we often order. They have a nice outdoor seating area with some tables in a streetside patio and others on the sidewalk. Dogs are welcome to sit with you outside. Also their indoor area has floor to ceiling windows which they open on nice days, so it's a good option for less risky indoor dining especially if you sit next to the windows. read more

The bomb lobster and black dragon were excellent. The lobster was freshly tempura'd and still warm which was lovely. The manhattan roll was made with tempura shrimp that was dry and cold, tasted like it had been made well in advance. When inspecting the menu outside of Ko Sushi, the owner kindly gave us personal attention by pointing out our options and informing us that we would receive complimentary ice cream at the conclusion of our meal. We ordered the summer roll and shrimp tempura roll and indulged in green tea and red bean ice cream, as promised. Each slice of the shrimp tempura roll was quite large, with parts of TWO shrimps in each slice, making it slightly difficult to fit each slice into one bite. I also wish that the summer roll came with champagne mango slices instead of the yellow green mango for a stronger mango taste. However, both rolls were delicious and my friend and I would definitely come again! The green tea ice cream tasted like green tea flavored ice cream and my friend unfortunately discovered an eyelash in her red bean ice cream.
