    It's small, with quick service and best of all the food is good. Besides the sashimi and rolls I had the ceviche martini and green salad. The salad was amazing, would go there just for that. The ceviche had an interesting twist, it was a ceviche but it was topped with these tiny jello's that gave it a sweet tangy/orangie flavor, it was good and it was actually served in a martini glass. I will be back to try other things on the menu, I do recommend.

    Stopped in after date night at the met. No reservation, we were able to walk in and be seated. The inside is small and intimate but perfect for a date. The fish was delicious, so fresh and tasty. This is a true sushi restaurant focused on quality fish. If you like sushi and sashimi, this spot will be a good fit for you! Service could have been a bit more attentive but all in all I would go back.

    It's always interesting to visit Japanese restaurants in the US. Especially ones that do a poor job of representing sushi like this one. Let's start with the chef: Rude, short tempered, zero acknowledgment of incoming guests or customers who were leaving, a really roughly handed way of explaining substitutions, talking down about other customers (not about us but in front of us), making last minute substitutions without informing customers till after making an item. I could go on and on about the chef, but just based off our thoroughly overpriced and crappy experience there I HIGHLY recommend you to look elsewhere for your hand roll or sushi fix. Borrowing heavily from the hand roll craze in NY, the paired flavors here neither stood out nor paired well - yuzu overpowering yellowtail, flavorless jalapeño paired with very forgettable soy sauce (I know this sounds strange but bear with me - very rarely have we commented on the type of soy sauce used at any sushi restaurant so to my partner it was very call outable.) Definitely visit if you like the following: 1. YOUR SUSHI OR HANDROLLS MINCED TO WITHIN AN INCH OF THEIR LIFE, 2. Flavorless and crispy rice limp and sour 3. "Hand rolls" flat and about .25inch high, and about a little over an inch in width x 3.25inches long, $38 for a set of three See photo with chopstick rest for scale. 4. You enjoy having a subpar meal in the presence of a thoroughly unpleasant Japanese chef flanked by less than stellar service. Otherwise - give this place a wide berth and save your sushi cravings for a far better downtown experience.

    Grabbed a quick lunch and sat at their bar. Place was busy for a weekday lunch. I had the Sushi Set Ichihime and was vey happy. Perfect temperature, rice was perfect and the fresh flavors were awesome. Service was quick and friendly.

To drink, I had a Hot Organic Super Matcha Tea for 4.95. It was alright tea, and I wish teas were included in the price point, as otherwise, this place feels pretty traditional. In terms of food, I only ordered from the seasonal menu, so I'm not sure how the rest of the dishes are, but from what I had, I would go back for a light traditional meal. My appetizer was the Dashimaki Tamago/だし巻まき卵たま, or sweet savory omelet with daikon for $6.98. This came with three pieces along with a little dollop of grated radish. The pieces had a light sweetness to them along with a bit of savoriness. They were juicy and a bit bouncy while maintaining some softness. This was standard and good. My main dish was the $19.98 Beef Tan Tan Udon, or ground sirloin beef, spicy broth, baby bok choy, kikurage mushroom, scallions, and sesame seeds. While I have preferred udon from spots like Raku, the udon had a mild chew to it, and they were still good. The broth had a mix of sweetness and spiciness with a nice depth of flavor. The vegetables inside tasted fresh, and the meat added some richness. This was good as well. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go here, but the food was good. If you're in the area and looking for no frills Japanese dining in a more comfortable atmosphere at pretty decent Midtown East prices, I would recommend this place.

We walked in around 7pm and there were plenty of tables available, but we decided to sit in the separate bar room near the entrance. That space was more intimate, with a couple of larger high-top tables, a small bar (about 4-5 seats), and additional seating along the wall, and there was also a TV. They have a good happy hour with both drink and food options. We both ordered margaritas, which needed a slight adjustment as they were made too sour, and I also tried some sake, which was a good selection. For food, I ordered the fried chicken, which was very good, crispy, flavorful, and a generous portion, served with tartar sauce ($20). We also shared edamame and a couple of yakitori skewers: the shiitake mushrooms ($6) and pork belly ($8). The mushrooms were quite bland and I did not finish them, but the pork belly looked great and my friend enjoyed it. Overall, this is a good Midtown East spot for happy hour or a casual lunch and I would return.

The Katsu is the star and I think what sets this place apart is that they offer Berkshire pork katsu as an option. Arguably some of the best pork, it's great to have the option if you're looking to heighten the experience. I love their pork katsu and go nuts over the chicken katsu curry. It's super crispy, slightly greasy but never off-putting. And it's served with the most delicate and delicious cabbage slaw. I could eat a mountain of this it's so good. Highly recommended.

I got some tonkatsu...I forget the exact type, but it was essentially the most fatty of the tonkatsu offered. It came with cabbage (with a sesame ginger type dressing), daikon radish (with some type of sauce on top), and the standard sauce for the tonkatsu, along with some crushed sesame seed and hot mustard. I'd have to say...the tonkatsu was quite good....not quite as sublime as my favorite tonkatsu place in Tokyo...but still, very, very good. The dish also came with a bowl of miso soup (good, and not overly salty) and a bowl of white rice, which I considered the most disappointing part of the meal. The rice seemed a bit dried out...not moist.... All in all, an excellent meal. I'd definitely come back.
