Absolutely loved my time at Kodo on Christmas Eve!!!!! Every single dish was so thoughtfully done and packed with flavor. you can really taste the care and intention behind the food. From the freshness to the execution, everything we ordered was a total hit. What truly made the experience EXTRA special though was the owner, Brad. He was incredibly kind, welcoming, and generous with his time. It was such a pleasure talking to him and learning about his journey and the heart behind the restaurant. You can tell he's deeply passionate about what he does, and that energy carries through the entire space. Ahhhmazing food, great atmosphere, and genuine hospitality. I would 10000% come back with my family and honestly can't wait to return. Kodo is something special.
This place is beautiful, with modern ambiance, perfect for both a casual meetup or for a special occasion. Initially they mentioned they didn't have uni available, but the attentive manager came to us and shared that he wasn't completely satisfied with the quality of the uni that day, though he was still willing to serve it to me. I really appreciated the honesty and passion for quality. I came here eyeing on the uni pasta, so I had to go for it. Maybe he was right, it was just OK. It wasn't necessarily the uni itself, but the pasta and cream sauce felt slightly overcooked and a bit dry. It could've used more sauce to bring everything together. Still, no ragrets (iykyk). It's something you should try here . We also ordered the hand roll trio and toro, which was yummy. The fish was fresh, beautifully cut, and served in generous pieces. They're partnering with Death & Co, known for their craft cocktails which explains why the drinks here are so uniquely curated and well mixed. Definitely worth exploring their cocktail menu.
The ambiance was great! It's great for Valentine's day or anyone celebrating a special occasion. The food was also amazing, the steak was melt in your mouth and the toro hand rolls were just as good as the ones in japan and I recommend both. The bad lol: excess upselling and the uni pasta they are famous for was out on a Sunday. Also the chefs were arguing and everyone could hear lol
Came for dine la. Caesar salad: why r the leaves so large? I'm stuffing my mouth but taste is there. Spicy tuna crispy rice: fish was good, crispy rice was surprisingly good as someone who doesn't like crispy rice bc it gets stuck in my teeth and this wasn't too crispy--teeth were still pretty :P Kodo trio: uni is super creamy, Wagyu was good and salty, toro is fresh. Sea bass: I burned my tongue and throat but that's my fault anyway this was fye...actually, I digress after eating this all the way thru. Lowkey got sick of it. Fatty and saucy. Wagyu ribeye: seasoned v well. Also why was my dessert so tiny? Service wasn't too bad but not as refined compared to when I first came last year in June. Felt a little messier than before

Ambiance is very perfect for a date night, but we felt the food can be better. We came here for Dine LA, so didn't try their regular menu. Staff and service is amazing. They handed me a little basket for my handbag without me having to ask. The bartender at the bar was also very friendly and we got to learn a lot about what makes their drinks unique. Now for the food, we really enjoyed the Uni Toro Handroll and Chocolate Torte. We will definitely be ordering these again if we come back. They were so flavorful and left us wanting more. Everything else on the menu was just okay: Bonito Caesar Salad, Brussel Sprouts, and Wagyu Steak. The steak was so fatty and came out cold, so it was hard to finish. Maybe if it was warm or hot, it would've been better. Overall, it was an okay experience and we may come back on a regular night for the things we did enjoy. We loved chatting here because it was so calm and dimly lit.
Not often does a restaurant absolutely nail every detail, but Kodo did exactly that. We arrived a little early for our reservation and were seated right away, great start. The cocktail menu alone nearly derailed the evening. So many great options that narrowing it down felt like a personal challenge. Spoiler: every choice was the right one. We ordered the ponzu oysters, eggplant (I didn't like the skin but that was easily fixed, I removed skin from all the eggplant), Brussels sprouts, broccolini (we asked for it without the usual char because I don't like cancer and they executed it perfectly, no awkward back-and-forth, just done), miso sea bass hand roll, toro sampler, toro carpaccio, chocolate torte, and the Basque cheesecake. Finished with two cappuccinos. Every single dish landed. No misses, no "this one's fine" moments, just consistently excellent food and flawless execution. The cocktails were equally impressive: Son of Kyushu - 10/10 Fuji Haze - 10/10 (that coconut foam is unreal) Beni Negroni - 10/10 The Kitsune - 10/10 Rating these cocktails felt like watching a perfect Olympic gymnastics routine: no stumbles, no deductions, just flawless execution across the board. The space itself deserves a mention. Minimalist, chic, and effortlessly classy. The photos online honestly don't do it justice, it feels even better in person. Kodo is the kind of place that reminds you why dining out can still be exciting. Thoughtful service, beautiful food, and a vibe that feels special without trying too hard. Highly recommend!! The service bumps Kodo up to a 5/5 star! We had a great server to begin with, but we noticed the server at the table behind us was so passionate about the dishes, and we said amongst ourselves that he could sell us anything he was so good at describing the dishes. Lo and behold, he came over to our table about halfway through our meal, and he was equally as enthusiastic with us - turns out, he's the owner! Our meal was great! We started with the ume martini which was very interesting, you could taste the plum, and the Negroni which my friend said tasted like a solid version of a regular Negroni. To eat, we shared the following: -Brussels sprouts which had a great char on the outside, we loved the sauce at the bottom 8/10 -Chicken karaage - juicy chicken with the perfect crunch. The dipping sauce was the perfect complement 9/10 -uni pasta - I personally love uni pasta, but this could have used a little more sauce or something to kick up the flavor profile a little bit. 7.5 or 8/10 -Chilean sea bass - absolutely divine. Do not come to this restaurant and not order this dish. Beautiful texture on the fish and the sauce was delectable. 9.5 possible 10 out of 10. Truly. -basque cheesecake - I actually just went on a trip to visit my family in Spain so I have had a lot of basque cheesecake recently. I wish this cheesecake had the creamier texture/center that I'm used to for a Basque cheesecake, but the flavors were fantastic. 8/10 -miso chocolate torte - WOW! This is something very special. If you're like me and like desserts that are a bit more savory, you will love this umami bomb. It is such a unique dessert. I don't even normally order desserts but I will come back again and again for this one. 9.5/10 Kodo has a very modern feel, it is a great place for a nice dinner for any occasion. The valet parking is a little questionable, it really bottle necked at one point, but it's great that it's an option. And $13 is reasonable for parking in that area. I would definitely come back to Kodo in the future!
A delicious hidden gem in the arts district that will satisfy your craving for drinks and raw bar bites. The aesthetics are Japanese Kyoto inspired with a modern twist so you know the vibe is live. Indoor and outdoor dining available along with a killer playlist that will keep the mood. We ordered their recommended favorites which were the Uni Pasta and Wagyu Cheeseburger. The pasta was really tasty but I felt it lacked a little bit more sauce but that's just me. The burger was really good and flavorful but it came out looking like a hot mess. For dessert we had the Basque Cheesecake and that was Hella good. Service was attentive and the pacing was good. For those who like to get their Pre Game on! They have a gorgeous bar for you. Private dining area available for large groups and reservations recommended. Overall it was a good dining experience and I'm coming back for the mocktails. That's my take, Peace.
Came here for a special dinner and we enjoyed our time here. They serve fancy Asian fusion! Service was extremely nice and helpful. The place itself was nice but I think we were seated in a simple booth so it was alright. The food was good! This is how I rate the items we ordered: Ceviche 3/5 Omakase platter 5/5 Unipasta 2/5 Croquette 5/5 (my personal favorite) I think next time we want to check out their matcha drinks at another time! All in all this was a nice place to go to! There's valet parking but we also found street parking not too far.
I came here for dinner, via Uber, with a friend on a Sunday in mid-October 2025. We had made reservations a month before, not because we had to but, because that was the only time we'd both be free. We were a few minutes late but they sat us down right away. I was really excited about all the yuzu and ponzu on their menu but when our food came out I was so disappointed that I couldn't taste any of it. The food was shockingly mild and way too subtle for my taste. We ordered the Yuzu Ceviche, Wagyu Tataki, Toro Carpaccio, Chimichurri Prawns, and the Charred Broccolini. I think out of all of them I liked the Wagyu the most but that's not saying much. I also got their Yuzu mocktail which was, disappointingly, the best item out of all the dishes I had that night. Would have definitely preferred my meal to be better/just as good as the drink. The Ceviche was spicy but it needed a little more yuzu. The Wagyu and Toro both needed more ponzu. The Prawns did not have enough Chimichurri and definitely needed more yuzu - there was barely any flavor and quite bland I'm afraid. The Broccolini had a nice dipping sauce so it wasn't too bad. It ended up being $110 per person - not too bad, but man was I disappointed in the food. Was going to bring my partner here but I think we'll save our money for food with actual flavor. Service was great though. If we do come back here, we'd probably ask for extra ponzu and yuzu on the side.
DineLA 2025 kodo was where I had dinner to close out this summer's DineLA run. Loved it. Opted for valet parking. $12 or might have been $13. I don't remember. It's cash or Zelle. Just know, pull up onto the curb next to the valet stand. I went by it once because there were cars in lane turning right. You'll see what I mean if you aren't lucky with street parking. Service was excellent. I sat at the bar so service was on point. The team made sure I was taken well care of. I'd definitely go back to the bar for drinks and snacks for happy hour. The food runners were great too - communicated the dishes and making sure I had everything I needed. This is another one of those instances where I'll say see pics, but toss in that the pics won't do the food any justice. Especially the Wagyu Ribeye served exactly like I ordered it - Rare! No sauces or any condiments needed. Mixed in with the other dishes I had as well as the drinks, I enjoyed every single bite from the oyster appetizers to the closing dessert. I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu. Depending on the weather, I wouldn't mind sitting outdoors on the patio.
I hosted my own birthday party of 14 here. We were in the private room. It's REALLY a great setting for an intimate dinner with your closest friends and family. The wait staff was impeccable, they literally catered to my every need. I went through the menu and ordered a smattering of approximately half the offering listed. There were something's that I enjoyed more than others BUT there was NOTHING that I didn't enjoy. Go on and wade through those double negatives. I highly recommend everyone try this place out. Next experience up, stay at the hotel AND eat at the restaurant!
Randomly look up Japanese food and ran into Kodo ! Not bad on the Dine LA menu set dinner but the portion is small. If I add a few more sushi the price tag will add up...... so I ordered cocktail over Sushi a la carte menu! lol ...... great ambiance , Courteous service . Valet parking only . Came to celebrate a friend's birthday. It's a little pricey, but flavor combinations are yummy. I recommend coming with a small group and ordering a bit of everything. AMBIANCE Located in DTLA, the restaurant feels like a grey modern art museum. Valet was $13 right in front of the restaurant. Front and back room available for dinner. DRINKS $18 Cocktail had good quality liquor. Lychee Martini was not too sweet & very strong $9 Thai tea is a fantastic non-alcoholic option! FOOD 5/5 Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice $24 - can't go wrong. crispy rice was perfectly crispy and generous amount of spicy tuna 4/5 Chef's Selection Nigiri Plate $65 - it's fun to get one per person and try each piece together! some of the pieces melted in your mouth, others had interesting flavor combinations 4.5/5 Uni Squid Ink Pasta w/ Ikura $30 - very rich and filling. couldn't taste too much of the uni, loved how they marinated the ikura 4.5/5 Cheesecake - cooked for 8 hrs! paired well with the sesame seeds and jam SERVICE Staff were phenomenal and very knowledgeable on the food and drinks. This is a nice special occasion restaurant. Beautiful and elegant setting, high quality food, and attentive service. But be prepared to pay for it... budget $100-150 per person. Everything we tried was excellent but I think their menu changes often so you may or may not be able to order based on old Yelp pictures. However, it makes dining here a more unique and exploratory experience! The portion sizes for most items are delicate and not so much... if you need something to fill you up, get a pasta dish. Now, a great part of the meal in my opinion is the dessert! Unlike the sushi or sashimi dishes, the desserts are of good size and can put a great satisfying end to your dining experience! read more

Definitely recommend for any type of celebration. Super chic ambiance, food is definitely delicious the cod was insane. We went for V-day/ anniversary, perfect for that. Music was good. The staff is extremely attentive and nice. Has a cool bar area and a private outdoor seating. read more
Parking: Street parking is available but may need to spend time looking for an open spot if you come during a busy time of day. Outside: This restaurant is located inside a historic building Engine No 17 at the corner of the street. The entrance is large floor to ceiling opening. Interior: Very beautiful upscale and modern design. Comfortable waiting area (although there was no wait for us) and modern décor. It felt like walking into a hotel when we checked in with the hostess. We sat outdoors which was nice and open. It can be a bit cold as everything is concrete including the bench seats. The lighting however is very intimate and beautiful. Service: Amazing, the servers are very respectful and attentive. Never had to wait long for anything that I needed. Food: Everything we tasted was amazing. I didn't have any complaints and would definitely be back to try their other menu items. Would definitely recommend this spot for date nights, birthdays, girl dates, and unique dining. Order: Hand roll trio - 6/5 each roll was very delicious, highly recommended Tsukune - 4/5 good and very juicy Crab Cream Croquette - 5/5 savory appetizer Crunchy Shrimp Roll - 5/5 unique flavor, simple and still delicious Uni-Mentaiko Cream Pasta - 5/5 must order. Came here on a special new years eve omakase dinner reservation on Resy and was very excited to try Kodo after looking at other reviews and watching YouTube videos about this place. Kodo is such a nice vibe restaurant with dark lights and a great atmosphere all throughout the restaurant. Service was immaculate. Everyone was so nice and helpful when choosing drinks and explaining the dishes as it came out. There was a total of six dishes, including dessert at the end, which was really delicious however felt like it was very mid compared to other Omakase places. I was expecting a bit more nigiri dishes and felt a little letdown. The other dishes were just okay. For $95 per person, I guess I was expecting something else in terms of Omakase. Wouldn't highly recommend someone to try this special Omakase set menu as I felt like there are better alternatives. Willing to try their regular menu dishes on a different day! Valet was $13 and street parking is available if you can find. read more
I love the vibe of the place! I came here for the cafe drinks and ordered the coconut matcha latte and kuro goma latte. The coconut flavor overpowered the matcha in the coconut matcha latte, but I still enjoyed it. The coffee was strong in the kuro goma latte so I definitely recommend if you're in need of caffeine in a delicious sesame drink. There weren't a lot of people so the service was quick. They also have a cute patio with seating outside. I would definitely come back to try the restaurant and also try new drinks with friends. read more
This was our 2nd time and all I can say is everything we've tried has been AMAZING! Staff ran fairly quick and the restaurant feels pretty intimate. They also have a hotel and cafe in the building. Every dish is a little more unique than the usual you have at other places. We tried the monkfish liver mousse, spicy tuna crispy rice, uni pasta, and some of the nigiri! To top it off, we still had room for the bread pudding. Definitely a place we'd recommend to people :) read more
The cafe itself is very aesthetic! There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The strawberry matcha and coconut matcha both tasted really good and is definitely a must try if visiting! Came here for lunch and they were solid too! Note they open at 10am for drinks but you can't order food until 11am. I really liked the strawberry matcha. The jam isn't too sweet and blends so nicely with the matcha. I appreciate the dried strawberry touch too. You get your choice of milk options too. For food, I got the salmon soba salad. Not overly heavy with the sesame dressing and the salmon is a fairly big portion. This dish does get you full. Overall highly recommend. Parking is street or you can walk a few blocks to paid lots too. read more

Kodo is an amazing little hidden gem! Not many people know about it and it's such a cute, classy place which is hard to find in LA (one that's not over saturated). It's located between the arts district and dtla which I think put it in a great spot and there's a decent amount of street parking. There's Kodo hotel attached to it so when you walk in you see the lobby and the restaurant host. The vibe is very calm but elevated and it's a great place for a secluded first date or a chill night out with your friends. The food was Amazing!! And the fish is SUPER fresh! They have a wide variety of nigiri to try as well as hot plates. The Ribs are a must try! I loved the Branzino as well but to be quite honest, I've had A LOT of Branzino in my day and I have had better, but don't get my wrong Kodo's is good and worth the price. The Basque cheesecake is delicious as well and a perfect portion to share. Kodo has the BEST chili oil out of many places. Definitely top 2! They do charge for extra however so just be aware. I wish they jarred it up and sold it! Super cute first place in the back as well as heat lamps. I get cold easily and I was very comfortable. Staff is super nice and knows the menu well. I only tried their cafe menu but the place was wonderfully aesthetic that brings you back to a Japanese cafe with their decor. - Coconut Matcha Latte (5/5!!): This came with great quality matcha, milk, coconut foam, coconut dust, and shredded, sweetened coconut pieces on top. This was the best matcha and coconut drink I had in my life! It was perfectly sweet and the shredded coconut bits on top added the perfect crunch/texture to my drink. I would come back here just for this drink. - Kura Goma (3/5): This drink was pretty mid and didn't taste like black sesame with its earthy/nuttiness. Tasted like espresso and washed down black sesame on the side. I do hope they will revise this drink as it didn't live up to other black sesame drinks and could use a bit more flavor/extra black sesame. This place wasn't the best to study at as there are open window doors opened that leads along a street with passing cars so the noise level was pretty loud. If it's a catch up with friends it'll be good! read more

The unique open outdoor dining area is such a low key luxurious setting. Every dish was surprising and fresh and perfectly seasoned. The portions and pacing was so thoughtful and we nearly skipped dessert which would have been a mistake. I enjoyed every bite so much but the desert was the grand finale! Service was knowledgeable and kind! Highly recommend this spot + can't wait to come back read more
4++ upscale (?) Japanese food in a modern, beautiful space with fantastic service. I can't speak to the normal dinner menu. I only came here to grab some appetizers or more of the Japanese pub like offerings as well as some cocktails before heading to a show nearby. The cocktails were tasty and prepared well. Ordered the following from the starters/ appetizers portion of the menu and I enjoyed all the dishes: Crab cream croquette Uni-mentaiko cream pasta Tsukune Definitely a great option in that area especially, if you are going to another event downtown. read more
Came in on a Saturday at 5pm, Weshare_records was in the building spinning and selling records. Flipping FIRE. almost forgot we were there for sushi. Moved to the back sat in a booth in the bar area round 5:45pm. Not crowded but good ass vibe with the music from Weshare_records. All the staff was friendly and space very welcoming. FOOD: For heaven's sake - smells nice very well balanced drink Roku gin based brink. Blue crab roll - nice. Simple. Trio hand roll - hella good. Don't need soy or wasabi. But I like the added spice and the wasabi ain't that bland powdered stuff Salmon triadito - nah. Hard pass. Very pretty, very mild, not enough flavor or pizazz for me. Crab cream croquette - nice and creamy. The sauce on top was delicious. read more
I had a nice time at kodo for dinner. The seafood tasted very fresh and the service is very attentive. My favorite dish was the toro carpaccio and my least favorite was the salmon skin salad (unpleasantly salty). Everything else we had kind of just fell somewhere in between. It was a nice experience. Service was good. I like the warm ambiance. The food was good, the techniques are on point but the flavors need to be stronger, especially the burger, where the patty was well seasoned but the meat barely tasted like anything. The uni pasta was not creamy enough. The best thing probably was the salmon. Another small detail is that ive been to other upscale restaurants like 71Above, NikuX, Tao,.. they all offered complimentary desserts or drinks for birthday celebration, I saw the other table was getting a dessert on the house for their bday but we was not offered the same, even though noted when booked the reservation and checked in with the front desk. He was the only one that said happy birthday lol. read more
I enjoyed my time at Kodo for dinner. It's a small nondescript entrance, and a cozy interior filled with dim lighting and really beautiful simple decor. The housemade yuzu soda was amazing. The food was fresh, and tasty but I did wish their dinner menu was slightly more extensive - nigiri on it would've been great. Came to kodo for GNO on a Friday and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is super aesthetic in a minimalist and Japandi way. I love the zen vibes. Service is top notch! We ordered a ton of food and shared them family style: + Lychee martini 3/5: Mediocre cocktail. Definitely not my fav lychee martini. Didn't even have lychee fruit as garnish, which was a bummer since that's what I look forward to whenever I order this drink. + Bonito caesar 4/5: Not bad, but I felt like the whole salad was sort of drenched in bonito dressing and parmesan cheese. It got a bit heavy. + Crab cream croquette 4/5: This was the best of everything ordered! I liked the crispy exterior and the creamy, crabby filling. + Wagyu roll and blue crab roll 3/5: Both rolls were tasty and great quality. Nori was not crunchy but chewy and gummy. Not loving the texture. + Uni-mentaiko pasta 3/5: So fishy... + Mochi with green tea ice cream 5/5: The most delicious dessert I've ever eaten! Amazing big chunk of chewy mochi powdered with kinako powder. + Basque cheesecake 4/5: Super rich and creamy. I wasn't a fan of the pistachio crumbles though. Dinner was fun but I felt like my friends and I spent every second of it swatting at flies lol. The flies wouldn't go away and landed on our food multiple times. I'm so happy that management kept most of the open, zen, and minimalistic space from the former RYKN Café! I love the charm of the stone, wood, and plant aesthetic. Service was relaxed. The Kura Goma (sweet black sesame + milk + espresso) tasted okay. Hoping to come back soon to try out the lunch and dinner menus in their new restaurant :) read more
Came here because I wanted a margarita with sushi and I had this place saved in my liked TikTok's. I had passed by this cool looking place before but didn't know what it was. It's inside an old fire station and the decor and layout made the place such a vibe. Our server Lizzie was amazing and she helped us pick out some of her faves from the menu. The food was so good. Came here for a friend's birthday and the moment we walked in, the ambiance was both modern, sophisticated, and cozy! We started with the tuna crispy rice, chicken karaage, crab croquette - all were which really good! I do have to say the sushi rolls and uni pastas that we got as entrees were okay. The service was attentive and helped out with the cake we brought. The highlight of our dinner were the appetizers and desserts- strawberry matcha tiramisu and their birthday dessert surprise- the basque cheesecake! I saw that they had a cool menu for lunch, so I will definitely be back to try it out! read more
Kodo is a restaurant and cafe located in Los Angeles near the Arts District. The cafe closes around 4:30 PM for the restaurant to open up in the evening. The restaurant sells mostly sushi. We came for their cafe menu. The staff were very nice; the barista had left already but they still made our drinks and made conversation with us. Drinks We ordered the ichigo matcha and the coconut matcha latte for $8 each. Both drinks were beautifully presented. There was no powdery feel from the matcha but we wish the fruit flavors were a bit stronger, especially in the coconut matcha. AESTHETIC VIBES AND YUMMY LUNCH we came here right when lunch services started and ordered the chirashi and the steak donburi. We lucked out and found parking next to the hotel. We enjoyed the Japandi, calm environment, very cute and relaxing! Food was yummy too, chirashi's fish was cut up in bite pieces, every bite was satisfying. The steak was yummy too. I would say the rating is more towards a 3.5 for overall experience. Service was 5/5 without a doubt. Checks up on you often, frequent water refill and polite staff overall. Ambiance is 5/5. The outdoor seating area staring from 6pm or so is the perfect weather to enjoy a nice dinner with good vibes. The food overall was just okay... the Nigiri pieces had way too much wasabi that it punched my nose and overpowered the delicious taste of the fish. It wasn't for all. Id say 4 of 6 type of Nigiri had the wasabi issue. The black cod - Blue crab roll was very rich where one piece was enough. The red ginger they blended in the blue crab meat was too overpowering. What started as a simple plan to grab dinner before a show turned into an absolutely incredible date night. Kodo has a sleek, vibey interior, but the food is truly next-level. We started with the Wagyu Tataki, which had the perfect balance of char and freshness from the microgreens. Then came the Bonito Cesar, a dish that somehow built in flavor and complexity with every bite (honestly stunning). And the absolute showstopper: the Bluefin Tuna "Wagiri" Sashimi Platter -- 27 beautiful pieces of tuna, thoughtfully served with rice and nori so you can make your own hand rolls. Just when you think the night has peaked... there's more. Beyond the five-star food, what really made the evening special was the service. Brad and his team delivered Michelin-level care with an ease and warmth that made everything feel fun and personal. From the moment we sat down, Brad set the tone -- luxurious in taste, playful in spirit -- and his recommendations were vivid, thoughtful, and clearly coming from genuine passion. We mentioned in passing that we were heading to the Blue Note Jazz Club afterward, and Brad shared that a good friend of his works there and that he'd give them a heads-up. When we arrived, not only were we warmly greeted by the manager, but we were also seated in incredible spots for the concert. That kind of follow-through is rare and meant a lot. Brad brought a level of care that made us feel like more than just customers -- it felt like being looked after by a friend. PSA: We learned that the entire restaurant has changed within the past few days/week during our dinner last night (2/8/2025). Apparently the entire menu, almost all the staff, and chefs have been overhauled so do with that information what you will. I will say the good things first: the food/drinks and ambiance here are solid. Cocktails were solid and the quantity of food per dish was good for the prices. The Uni Pasta was a little underwhelming though for being a featured special. Also they ran out of uni halfway through our group of 10 ordering. The Wagyu Cheeseburger was surprisingly really good and a great size. The "fries" are not fries and were actually potato wedges but were also good so the false advertising gets a pass. Overall, the food quality and quantity was good but we'll get to the food service soon. Ambiance is probably where this place shines. The inside is dark and has really cool vibes. Probably a better experience for date nights or small groups. Now let's get to the bad: the service was horrible (minus one person). So I mentioned the staff was completely overhauled and it really looked like most of the staff had no idea how to give good customer service. The hostess when we checked in seemed extremely stressed out and one of the male waiters was rude (he had a short ponytail so beware of this guy). Shoutout to Lizzie though who was the one bright spot for service. She was very helpful and kind to our group of 10. Another sore spot for our dinner was that all our food came out randomly. Entrees would come out before starters, orders were completely forgotten, and waiters didn't know what they were handing out. For example, 3 uni pastas came out at once, and then the other 2 came out maybe 30 minutes later. An order of shishito peppers and uni handrolls were forgotten and we never got them. Just huge inconsistency in food coming out. We were there about 2.5 hours and the last dish to come out was an eggplant starter. Some of our group also overheard other tables who we're confused as they were trying to order things from previous times and the staff saying they no longer had many of the items from the old menu. Until the kitchen and staff figure all their stuff out, I'd avoid coming here for a bit, especially if you have a big group. read more
Wow amazing Kudo goma expresso!! Heard about this place on instagram and had to bring my friends here to try it out. Brought my own cup (highly recommend it to save on plastic cups ending up in landfills), server was a bit fresh, was asking which drink would you recommend and he answered "well the signature drinks is right there". Attitude not necessary. More customer service preferred. Not all signature drinks are the best on the list. Friends got the matcha latte and iced tea, "strong" was their comment. Came on a day where it was just a few people, not crowded at all. Makes the zen ambiance much more tolerable. read more

Went there last week for a special occasion. We found out when we got there that it was a limited menu. My partner was disappointed because he had a few things in mind that he was looking forward to trying. We ordered some handrolls, the crab croquette, a wagyu ribeye, miso Chilean sea bass, and the eggplant. The food was delicious but the service was terrible. The server was at our table almost every two minutes or so, filling up our water and checking in. She didn't course out our food well so we felt very rushed and everything came out almost immediately. I understand that it was a slow night and maybe that's why she was on top of us but we wanted to be able to enjoy our meal and be able to talk to each other without constant interruptions. We got there for our 7:45 reservation and was in our Uber by 8:30. I would go back when they have have their full menu because the food was great but I would advise everyone to order their dishes one at a time to set the pace. This little place was so hard to find lol! Come early to get street parking. Friend and I came for lunch and were so confused on where it was located. We arrived a little after 11am and walked in and thought we were in the wrong location because we only saw the coffee area. After looking around, I found an employee (not making coffee) and asked them about the restaurant. She asked us to wait a few minutes because they weren't ready yet. After a while, another employee came and escorted us through the side to their beautiful outdoor patio. I'm so glad the weather was perfect! Because we were the only ones there, he said we could walk around and take photos :) the entire area is so pretty, especially the private space for large groups. Our server was really nice and came to check on us often. Hot kuro gama latte - you can really taste the roasted sesame! Not too sweet, would recommend. Ichigo matcha - tasted pretty watered down, strawberry chunks were good tho. Furikake fries - highly recommend! It came with a spicy creamy sauce and every piece wad nice and crunchy. Someone came and took it away before we were finished eating:( Kaisen chirashi bowl - pretty tasty and filling Ribeye yakiniku donburi - tasted okay but I felt that the ribeye was overcooked a bit FYI their tipping system starts at 20%! read more
Incredibly impressed with kodo! We found kodo via an Instagram post and immediately decided to book it. The atmosphere & design were relaxing, minimalist, and spa-like in nature. The staff was friendly when we walked in and led us to a beautiful table in the courtyard. They have heaters and are very attentive to offering one to your table. Our server was fantastic, attentive, friendly, gave excellent recommendations and guidance on the menu - and didn't rush us! We're typically fast diners but were encouraged to relax and enjoy our post-dinner drinks. Drinks Lychee Martini with vodka was so light, crisp, and not too sweet. Sake was light and floral and they do an over-pour into a cute wooden box. Espresso Martini was the perfect post-dinner treat for my husband and the Umelicious was perfect for me! Food Crispy Rice - was one of the best crispy rice orders I've ever had, the mixed potato into the tuna which adds a great savory flavor. Croquettes - were a showstopper, you really taste the blue crab, but the fried eggplant marinara was the star for me. Ribeye - perfectly cooked medium rare, good fat, with a great dipping sauce. Risotto - so tasty, consistency semi-similar to congee, the pork belly was cooked beautifully melt-in-your-mouth, and I loved the curry sauce. Highly recommend for a unique menu, super friendly service, and a beautiful atmosphere! read more
