WARNING DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. SAFETY ISSUE. My food came in what was clearly reused grocery plastic containers. I called and the woman running the restaurant said "the Uber driver must have changed your container call them" I told her I was concerned she doesn't want to see pictures or doesn't seem particularly interested that someone in the kitchen may have messed up and is causing a safety issue. Can I even call this place a hidden gem , I mean all the seats were pretty filled . This was a split second last minute decision if that makes any sense lol, but it was the best decision ever made about Ramen. I arrived for dinner around 6pm ish , this place is very welcoming and warm, layered with dark toned natural wood and the amazing smell of spices & herbs, get ready to transcend your tastebuds. The host is the server is the food runner is the bust boy is the cashier. I mean they do it all with a polite smile and energy. The service was great . The spot is pretty small inside but they offer outdoor heated seating. The menu has the perfect amount of items on it but after one bite you'll want to order everything. Now one might say what's the point of ordering Ramen without broth (which I did because this is one of the few places that serves dry ramen) . I'll tell you why .... Because it's bomb! And somewhat nostalgic. As a kid dry ramen was definitely a struggle meal in my household. We'd boil the ramen pour off the water add chopped up hot dogs and some sliced processed Kraft cheese and mix dat bad boy up with the chicken or beef flavored packet Ooooh I'm salivating just thinking about it lol. We just moved to the neighborhood and had to give Kogane a shot. Every time I've strolled by, I've always noticed a good number of people eating outside, even in the midst of winter. Their menu has all the fundamentals- spicy miso ramen, gyoza, pork buns. We tried the tonkatsu, spicy miso ramen, kimchi bacon fried rice, and the pork buns. The tonkatsu broth was really good and they were generous with the pork. The kimchi fried rice reminded me of a paella or Spanish rice with a tomatoey flavor. Pork buns were a litttle wimpy but still a tasty bite. Kogane has a pretty cool looking outdoor dining area, so we'll be back to try that for sure! read more

Great late night visit. There was no wait. Inside is pretty small but cozy. There is also enclosed outdoor seating as well. Our server was really nice, and all the staff we interacted with. I ordered the red tonkotsu ramen, which was cry rich, spicy, and well flavored. Noodles are be al dente and toothy, but I liked it a lot. Came out piping hot and fast. My friend just ordered a bottle of the plum wine, which was really good and we were able to take the bottle with us as we didn't finish it all. read more

We discovered this place while on a walk in Brooklyn, this restaurant was open at 11:45 am which seemed to be early for the area. We were seated fairly quickly, the place was clean and the staff was wearing masks. From the vegetarian options we ordered Spicy Vegetable Ramen, Vegetable Gyoza, and vegetarian fried rice (which was customized with no meat and no eggs on our request). The food was DELICIOUS. The meal was fresh and flavorful. Two things I really appreciated was: 1. My water glass was constantly filled up, meaning I was not dehydrated during or after my meal 2. At the end of the meal we were served with house green tea which was perfect ending to our meal. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely visit again when in the area. read more

Was in the area with friends from out of town, on a hot summer day. Had just finished a 3-hour walking tour of Brooklyn Bridge and Brooklyn Heights, was looking for any place that had enough room for my group, and a/c available. Stumbled upon this place - they have outdoor seating now, but the restaurant itself is cozy on the inside. There are a couple tables and bar-stools right up against the kitchen area if you want to watch them cook the food first-hand. We were seated immediately for lunch, and waited on hand and foot by the staff - who kept supplying us with some much-needed fresh, cool water. Staff were great in general - prompt and polite. Didn't make us wait for more than 10 minutes for our food once we'd ordered. The food itself was really tasty, and not too pricey. Funnily enough, since we were so hot, not a single one of us actually ordered the Ramen, which this place is famous for - we got shareable food such as their Pork Buns, Takoyaki (Octopus Fried balls), Brussels Sprouts, Pork Gyoza (dumplings), and Sweet Potato Fries. Everything was great. Ambience was nice. If I ever come back to the area, I'll know I have a great spot to take friends to. read more

Great ramen spot near BK Bridge park!! This place surpasses mr Taka which is right near the park. I'm glad we took the 15 min walk to this gem bc it was worth it. Broth was rich and flavorful for our spicy tonkotsu ramen and I was able to add extra chili oil as needed. The spicy edamame was delicious!!! Could not stop eating it. The only things that were a bit disappointing was the pork in both the ramen and the pork buns we got. Nothing special and could definitely be improved upon. Came across this place upon searching and decided to try this place. First of all, the wings were the smallest in size (maybe they use baby chicken..?) that I have tried in my life. Taste was okay though. I really liked the ramen because I did not have to add extra toppings on it; however, the pork inside the ramen can be improved- it is not tender at all. read more

We were placed outdoors and since it was rainy and cold, luckily we had some hot ramen coming our way to keep us warm. Would I sit outside again? Probably not unless they get some heat lamps out there. K, now to the food. IT WAS GREAT! The ramen bowls are hearty, spicy, flavorful, jam packed with toppings. We had the seafood ramen and the vegetable ramen. ADD AN EGG - worth the $2! I went to the restaurant with my boyfriend yesterday (3/3/2024) and we loved it!!! We got the spicy buns (the buns were the freshest we ever had), Japanese karaage, pork gyoza (very succulent) and plum wine. My boyfriend throughly enjoyed the Ramen while I loved the kimichi fried rice with chicken. It's near public transportation and right near the Barclay Center, where we had an event to attend. My thoughts on the below: - Tonkatsu ramen: the broth was great, though the noodles left a little be to desired. The ramen came with slices of pork, topped with green onion and woodear. - Agedashi tofu: the tofu was tasty and super fresh - it was piping hot when it came out of the kitchen. We were seated in the outdoor dining area, but it was more like indoor "outdoor" dining - there were few windows in the wooden structure for ventilation. Small ramen place in Brooklyn. Our party of two was promptly seated at the ramen bar stools in front of the cooks. Ordered a crisp and refreshing bottle of Kirin Ichiban beer to grow with the meal. It was accompanied by an ice cold pint glass. Next up and very quickly, came the wok fried Brussels sprouts. Seared beautifully with a little caramelized edges they still had a nice crunch - and a neat surprise with little chiffonade shreds of nori mixed in. Next was the plentiful bowl of tonkatsu ramen. Firm thin noodles, soft egg, braised pork belly, woodear mushrooms and fresh scallion - all artfully arranged in the vessel. The broth wash rich and thick with a strong fortified flavor. Monday 1pm There's 24 seats here but only 4 other ppl when I arrived. Interesting how the red tonkotsu is cheaper than the regular tonkotsu. They look like they're exactly the same except one has chili paste. I went for the red since it was cold and wet outside It came out like literally in 3min. Appreciate the efficiency but also makes me wonder if the noodles were cooked on the spot... First things first. The broth. It came with chili paste already mixed in but there's a dollop more if you want it to be stronger. It's a bright chili paste that has some notes of yuzu in it. I would say it had more heat than spice but still not that hot. It's just a combination of the temperature of the broth and the chili that would give you some mucus. Below the chili top is a beige colored broth. I was hoping for a more milky color since it's tonkotsu. Flavorwise it's not as clear or sweet as I'd like it to be. It's not heavy but has a thickness yet lacks in flavor depth. It's thick but shallow. The ramen noodles themselves are the thin straight type. They're not chewy at all and slightly undercooked upon arrival. Of course they would get softer as I ate through but it still never reached the optimal texture. Noodles weren't particularly smooth or flavorful, nothing special. Chashu was nice for being thick and tender. I like the meatiness. It didn't have the reboiled unfreshness either. Except it has another problem of being unflavorful. The marinate they cook these in can be stronger or keep them in there longer. All the other side ingredients: Soft boiled egg - aight. Appreciate it comes with it Seaweed - sheet was wimpy even before getting wet Menma - suspecting whether it's fresh or canned, leaning towards canned Wood ear - like this added texture but would appreciate if it was cut into long thing strips instead of short thin strips rn Cash only for under $20. Overall everything went fine but everything has its downsides without anything in particular that stood out. It's not expensive but I think the price doesn't equate the the quality I'm getting. Regardless this is still somewhere to go if you're craving a hot brothy ramen on a cold and wet day. There's more takeout orders than sit down orders. Not sure if that's their business model or just due to the weather. read more
