    SPICY PORK BOWL
    Allison D.

I am very sad to say that we were extremely let down by Kogi Grill. After getting this place recommended to us over and over again, we finally had to try it out. The woman at the counter was very kind. They were extremely busy and she was handling it well. It was very dingy inside, but exactly what you would expect for a place like this. You are not coming here for ambiance, you are coming for what is supposed to be great food. We ordered a large spicy pork kogi bowl and a large beef kogi bowl. Both with a sunny-side-up egg added on top. The flavors of the meat were definitely there, but the meat was extremely dry, chewy, and clearly very low quality. Dry meat over bland rice. Not very enjoyable. The egg on top was each bowl's only saving grace, and one yolk was broken. Needless to say, we were very displeased with Kogi Grill, and it seems to be quite overhyped. On a slower day, we might try this eatery again. Perhaps we tried it at a bad time. We wanted to love this place, especially with how convenient it is for us, but Kogi Grill did not hit the mark at all.

Love this place! So simple but yet so good! I ordered a Kogi Beef Bowl with an egg on top. So much flavor. The egg is a great addition! Love ordering from here! Just wish they had more side options or appetizers.

The 1st time I ate here, I thought it was dirty; but they were very busy with pickup orders. I gave it a 2nd chance and the bowl of beef and rice with secret sauce was pretty tasty and a decent portion. We did takeaway, tho. The menu is small: meat and rice in a bowl, meat and rice in a burrito, meat and rice in taco shells. This is a good place when you are craving BEEF. But definitely not traditional Korean food with beautiful side dishes and seaweed salad.

Arrived in Largo around dinner time. We decided to stop by Kogi for a quick to-go order. The gentleman behind the counter greeted me as soon as I entered. He was friendly and helpful. I went with the large shrimp bowl, $20.50. It comes with steamed rice, lettuce mix, and topped with Kogi sauce. It was ready in minutes! It was flavorful and had a nice, little kick. I really appreciated the generous portion of shrimp. It was very filling. I even shared some of it with my family. I would definitely eat or order from here again if I'm back in the area!

OK I did that says a delivery through DoorDash! But I called ahead to ask about the Kogi sauce since I have food allergies. The gentleman I spoke with was very sweet and explained what the Kogi sauce was and I said OK let me try it on the side so that I know whether or not, I will have issues and so he did and I placed my order. I got the Kogi beef bowl with a side of the chicken to see what the flavor was like with the grilled chicken! I also added the vegetables which is spinach, bell peppers, mushrooms, and zucchini, because I like a meal heavy on the vegetables. I was not disappointed with any of it. The rice is delicious. The meat was flavorful and just cooked to perfection. But that Kogi sauce is to die for. I was worried about the pepper in it and I didn't have to be. It was tempered beautifully in the sauce. I will definitely be ordering from here again soon, in fact, I was on TikTok, live and die, absolutely raved about my meal while on live. And told a friend who is on his way to Florida, that he has to go eat there while he's in town. Sorry, I don't have pictures this time because I was on live while eating it. But the next time I order, I will add pictures to this review. Picture added! This food is amazing. My 3rd order and consistently cooked to perfection!

ORDERED (ubereats prices) - large kogi spicy pork bowl + 1 oz extra meat [$14.75] OVERALL i can't say much about this place because i ordered delivery through ubereats however, i can say that the flavors are great. the gochu-mayo sauce is very tasty so i'm glad i ordered an extra side of it. i also liked that the portions were large, too. on the down side, the meat was overcooked and dry which i'm disappointed about since all the photos here look so juicy. perhaps it's not as overcooked if you eat in, but because of this, unfortunately, i don't think i'll be ordering from here again.

I gave it 4 stars out of 5 because they really need to add a few items. Like pulled chicken, Mac and cheese and Cole slaw. Also 4 potato wedges as a side is kinda ridiculous. Today, I was driving past, starving but with a full schedule of errands to run. If it had been any other place, I would have ignored it and just gotten coffee somewhere to keep me moving. Brakes, u-turn, park. I waited a couple minutes while some people gathered their order. I was too hungry to choose and asked the kind lady in the window to help me. She was patient and helped me by simply being patient. A few more people came up and I got nervous I was taking too long. But people just smiled. I decided to try a lot of stuff, but not so much I'd waste anything...including money if it wasn't as good as I hoped. Brisket wasn't ready yet so I went with Pulled Pork sandwich... Tender tasty meat nicely sauced on a white bread hamburger bun, with extra sauce on the side. I added sauce, but not so much as I wanted to taste the meat more. The sauce was good enough to eat like you would Chocolate sauce with ice cream. You're not going to leave any behind. Perfect sandwich saved me. Collard greens...perfectly cooked and seasoned, not too salty, pieces of bbq meat flavoring it nicely. Perfect side. Mac N Cheese...correctly cooked noodles, perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper, and cheese throughout, though not the gooey cheesy saucy kind of cheese...not velveeta "cheese". Really nice side. Banana Pudding...this is homemade with chunks of banana and chunks of (shortbread?) cookies. This is one of my favorites. Can of soda. She apologized it wasn't that cold. Her caring made it taste better. As you can see by the stars, I really liked this place. I'll be getting back to my errands now, an hour later after eating in my car and pondering a nap. I have a couple more bites of the pudding, which I will not be saving for later. Highly recommended for anyone who likes barbecue. And actually for anyone who thinks they don't like bbq. They will soon.

While they have a dark, caramelized "bark" on the outside, the interior should be tender, juicy, and melt-in-your-mouth. When they are tough or dry, as ours were today they are likely overcooked or made from a cut that didn't have enough fat. Either way that ain't cool, Sonny's. Not cool at all. The corn nuggets were only "mehh"... pleasant but not memorable. The brisket was made more edible by being chopped but nothing succulent about. The baked sweet potato was large, well baked to a tend softness which you want and they remembered the cinnamon butter. The garlic toast appeared to just be the frozen Garlic Texas toast from the grocery store. Nothing notable about that whatsoever. The best thing and most palatable item we received were the ribs. They were actually very good but they could not make up for all the deficits. Disappointed. You ain't no Terry Black's. Not a bit of juiciness to be found in the entirety of our meal. And that is just not barbecue. It was more like yesterday's barbecue cooked another few hours too long and all dried out. And the key word here is DRY. Skip this one. Was too expensive to be this unappetizing. Do better, Sonny's.
