Coffee by the day and bar by the night; this space was so gorgeous and located right at one of my most favorite spots for chilling over great meals in town! All people working here were also super amiable, making it felt like you're just a regular visitor despite it's our first being there. We arrived just slightly before 1pm, which was actually the closing time for their cafe but fortunately we made it just in time to try their coffees. I initially wanna go for their Hojicha Matcha but they're unfortunately out. I then ended up with my second option, the Activated Charcoal latte. The default came unsweetened with whole milk. There were alternative milk with extra $1 charge. The coffee was great and would even be better if it could be tad less milky IMHO. The Okasan was the highlight, which did surprise me as I typically didn't like any drink with zesty twist while this one had Kumquat. I guessed their innovative idea mixing it with chocolate did turn out stellar, delivering the right balance between sweet and refreshing taste, while still let the coffee taste getting the spotlight! read more

This may be my new favorite shop for caffeination on the way to Venice Beach on the weekends! Sushi restaurant by night, Kohi by Owa serves up some delicious drinks from 8am-1 or 2pm Wednesday to Sunday. It's a pretty space bringing all the good vibes, set first by the cute signage telling you so outside! It was just one fella making the drinks on Saturday morning, but he was working his booty off with a smile the entire time! It truly was good vibes here. They had a surprisingly lot of options, considering they're doing it all from a window in the restaurant! My friend had the Okasan drink with espresso, coconut milk, chocolate syrup and an orange twist ~ it was very orangey but had a unique taste to it. I had the Activated Charcoal Matcha which I loveeeedddd! I was shocked at the pop of flavor hitting my tastebuds and just melted into it. I I hardly ever crave drinks and this is definitely making my brain go into addiction mode. The Activated Charcoal Matcha is a MUST get! Both House Special drinks were $7.50. They have oat, almond and coconut milk supplements OR you can go fancy and add Kotaji Rice Fermented Oak Milk for an extra dolla ~ so cool! No snacks but head down a few steps to Levain Bakery for an amazing cookie or cinnamon roll to go with your morning brews. Absolutely loved Kohi by Owa and will be back soon! read more

Amazing coffee and quality black sesame was used in the cream top. It was perfectly creamy and sweet. The coffee wasn't too bitter or sour and the black sesame flavor was balanced well. If it gets busy, you could be waiting a while since they currently only have one person making all the drinks, but definitely worth the visit if you're around! read more

I was looking for a cup of coffee and stumbled upon Kohi and was so pleasantly surprised! I'm so happy to have supported a small business. I ordered an iced Okasan (espresso, coconut milk, chocolate syrup, kumquat twist): this is simply amazing! I picked out the kumquats I wanted them to use and it was such a delight, subtle flavor that was added I have only tried the Okasan, but I want to go back and try the other specialty coffees! Awful experience here today. As a previous customer I was emailed and advised of the free breakfast with coffee purchase through Jan. I arrive and was looked over by the waiter/hostess as he sat a group of non-black women. Me and daughter waited for him to come back and get us and he walked pass us at least 4 times until I took it upon myself to ask someone else about being sat. And he also took the sign up outside (1 hr early) which was advertising the coffee + breakfast promo (I guess in an attempt to deter more customers from getting free food? The owner then noticed my confusion and came over and shook my hand. But after sitting they presented us with lunch menus when I stated that I came for breakfast. Then they gave us a breakfast menu when the breakfast was supposed to be complimentary (no menu needed) as it was only an option between 2 items. The server then said that breakfast ended at 12 noon, when the website itself says 1pm! Lies. Disgusting! It was uncomfortable, and confusing from the jump! And if it weren't for my daughter, I would've left right then and there! Then when they finally brought the free "Japanese pancakes" looonnng after I had already finished my Hojicha, it was "1" singular pancake (American) with a fallow of whipped cream. At that point I was like whatever as I had already ordered other items for me and my daughter. Every interaction from the staff was awkward and cold and unlike the one I had previously had. As a black woman, I couldn't wait to leave this establishment. But not before they presented me with my bill which included two pancakes for $30! Two "2" pancakes for $15/ea. insane!!! I reminded them that it was complimentary because of their promotion, and they acted surprised. I was disgusted at this point. They eventually corrected my bill and before I left our server awkwardly "complimented" me by saying I looked like Gladys Knight?..... what a weird experience, enough to ensure that I will NOT be returning here. read more

New-to-me coffee shop. Came in looking for a bite to eat not knowing where I was stepping into. I found the coffee selection unique and hyper-focused on elegant yet simple concoctions. I like that they have a consolidated menu, showing the true focus of 4th wave coffee. I ordered the one with kumquat (ran-out, subbed in with orange). It was fantastic and the caffeine really packed a punch. I came back and tried the lychee tonic and it was so refreshing I'd want this daily on tap. Ian spoke to my toddler son and offered him a pastry straw, showing a customer-first approach. What a delightful coffee shop. Although I'm a regular at another spot right up the street, I will plan to frequent this spot when I'm in the area. read more
