Enjoying the food back at my hotel!
    Claudia L.

Popped in here for a coffee and croissant yesterday as it was around the corner from my hotel. My latte was amazing - strong and tasty. Store was clean & spacious; server was very helpful as I couldn't decide what to order. Croissant was fresh but the real treat was the Bombolone (an Italian donut) - which tasted like heaven! The location is right on the strand overlooking the beach in Venice. I'm headed there again today :)

I came for a pet and coffee event and I'm glad I did. The woman was super friendly and happy to see my fur babies. I got a new concoction that they came up with, which was a cherry and vanilla latte which was very refreshing. It was really nice to find a new place right on the Strand.

Stopped by Castanea Sicilian Cafe at their Venice location and the setting alone is hard to beat. It's literally right on the boardwalk, making it an easy spot to grab a bite while spending the day by the beach. What impressed me most was the quality of the ingredients. You can tell right away that everything is made with care. My favorite item was easily the Prosciutto Crudo, Fig Jam & Burrata. The combination of prosciutto, melon, burrata, and fig jam came together really well and was the standout of the meal for me. We also tried the Salame & Hot Honey Cornetto Sandwich and Margherita Roman Pizza, both of which were really enjoyable. The Classico Cannolo was another highlight and a must-order if you have a sweet tooth. My daughter loved the gelato, and my wife was a big fan of the Matcha Strawberry Sorbet Latte. Overall, a great spot for a casual meal in Venice with quality ingredients, good food, and an unbeatable location right by the beach.

Several vegan options -- from non-dairy milks to the flatbread to vegan croissant options it was a delight to try this cafe overlooking Venice beach. Service was great too, with very good indoor and outdoor seating.

Italian bakery and gelateria along the Venice Boardwalk. Just perfect. Nice to be able to walk from the Erwin Hotel to this little gem to pick up a delicious taste of Italy. The caprese focaccia was made to order. Filled with Roma tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, basil, mozzarella, pesto and a balsamic glaze, it was perfect for a light lunch. So tasty! Didn't try their pastries but they looked good. Had a sample of the tiramisu gelato. Tasted just like tiramisu. Amazing! Nice place to stop for a gelato or an Italian bakery treat. Grazie Mille!!

A really delicious Italian café right Venice Beach right across from the ocean. As someone whose family is southern Italian, I really appreciate these flavors and honestly thought they were fantastic. We were walking the beach and decided to stop in once we saw it on our walk. Inside is quite large and very bright, but this is more of about to go type of place versus a stop and sit. Service was really friendly and everything that we ordered was made very quickly. I decided to try a Bombolone because I have been a big fan since I was a little kid and thought it was terrific, which is basically an Italian donut. It was made fresh and had great flavors. I also tried one of their cold brews with cold foam on top and thought it was a bit bitter, but still good. I would definitely recommend this place and plan to stop in again because I live fairly close by.

Expensive lattes, but my first pistachio latte was yummy! It was sweet and made with almond milk. These two drinks were $20.26.

I've been here many times and always leave happy. I've tried a variety of pinsas, and they're consistently delicious, served with thin, crisp crusts and a great selection of toppings. On my most recent visit, I had the burrata salami, and my husband ordered the pistachio mortadella both were absolutely amazing. The burrata was rich and creamy, and the nuttiness of the pistachios added a perfect balance. I'd never had a pinsa with pistachios before, but it worked beautifully. I've also tried their sandwiches, and they've all been excellent. The restaurant has a relaxed vibe and is located right on the Venice Boardwalk, making it easy to walk around after eating. You order at the counter and there's outdoor seating where you can sit back and enjoy some great people-watching. The restaurant staff is always pleasant.

This is my second review for this place. I promise, I won't do a third and I'm not grtting paid...lol. So, during my self-care walk with Wallace. We stopped by for a cold drink and a cornetto for me and a puppy cup for Wallace. This time, Buster and Erica were working. I told Buster I needed something cold and he recommended a drink he just created that morning with Erica, a cinnamon toast crunch latte. I have never eaten Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, but this latte was so good! I expected something really sweet, which I didn't want and don't like. Instead it was a perfect blend of cinnamon, vanilla, and almond milk. The cinnamon wasn't too much, it didn't overtake the drink and came onto my tongue as an aftertaste which enhanced the vanilla and almond flavor. Since it doesn't have a lot of sugar and only a little in the almond milk, I told Buster he should recommend this as a drink for pre-diabetic and diabetic people who want something nice, but can't drink the overly sweet lattes. It came to mind cuz my doc told me to watch my numbers, so now I have a nice new latte to order when I come in, though I would be hesitant to order it if Buster wasn't making it. I mean, he is the originator :). Thanks Erica and Buster, Wallace and I appreciate the great drink, food, and awesome personalities with amazing customer service. Also, loved the music, it's always so clean and pleasant inside.

LOVE this cute coffee shop. It is right on the boardwalk so super convenient for a nice walk with a coffee. I had never been here before so I was pleasantly surprised. The staff are all super nice and helpful when it comes to ordering and what you would like best. I will definitely be back.

Castanea Sicilian Café is easily one of my new favorite spots. The owner, Nando, is an excellent guy--super friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what he does. Their coffee is 100% Arabica, and you can taste the quality in every sip. I also love that a lot of what they use is organic. The pistachio cream is next-level--rich, delicious, and full of flavor. The café itself is a perfect place to relax, enjoy your coffee, or even get some work done. I personally came for their coffee class, and it was incredible--fun, interactive, and very informative. Nando walks you through how to make coffee from start to finish: pulling espresso shots, steaming and foaming milk, making lattes, and even proper cleaning techniques. As a coffee connoisseur, I loved every second of it. The best part? At the end of the class, you get to pick something off the menu and make it yourself--a unique touch that makes the whole experience even better. It's a great way to bring the coffee community together, and I'd recommend it to anyone, whether you're a casual coffee drinker or an enthusiast like me. Top tier. Highly recommend.

Quick. Simple. Refreshing. First we can start with the view! Who wouldn't want to sit and watch the sunset with a delicious coffee?? Secondly I was scared to get a pistachio latte but wow it was nothing short of amazing! They use sauces not syrup. I prefer sauces as they really elevates a flavored coffee!

The food was okay, the service was mid. There was a fly landing on the pastries in the display case and I was served a pastry from the display case. I let the lady know and she said the fly didn't land on my specific bread lol. I wish she would have offered to give me something that was not on display.

Cocktails are slightly limited as it is not a full bar, but they do have options. The frozen Spritz was very flavorful, more fruit forward and would be perfect in a hot day. The Nonna's Medicine had a nice complexity to it with the flavors peeking their heads out at different times through the process. For food we started with the crudo, mussels and grilled oysters. The crudo was very fresh and had a lot going on with it's simplicity. Just a great bite. The mussels were decent but really didn't stand out in any way. The grilled oysters, however, had flavor and texture, with a Parmesan crust on top and the oyster and juice underneath. Very good! For pizza, they are almost like little personal focaccia pizzas, cut into four slices. We tried the mushroom, pepperoni and white pizzas. The mushroom has a garlic cream sauce and herb mix with Parmesan. You definitely get the mushrooms, as they are ample, but they do not over power the pizza. Just a good blend of flavors in each bite. The white comes with Japanese potato, fennel, mozzarella and pesto. Another really great bite with the potatoes not overpowering everything else. Finally, the pepperoni with spicy honey. The spicy honey is more like spicy marinara honey sauce, but it works. Could have used more of that as it came on the side. The pizza itself, with mozzarella and pecorino tasted great. Maybe that focaccia is the move? Overall, De La Nonna did not disappoint. Everything was very nice, and sitting on the patio when the weather is perfect is always a move. I would say to skip the mussels but, everything else, give it a try!

Show up early because this cozy place fills up fast. Lasagna Verde: Nonna Elvira knows exactly how to make the best lasagna. The freshly made pasta is thin and green from spinach. Between the sheets are layers of a fine and smooth beef ragu and bechamel sauce. The bechamel is soft and creamy with a light crust. Hot as lava, the meat and sauce ooze at the edges. Strewn on top and across the plate are fried spinach leaves that are crispy as nori. Parking: There's metered street parking out front. There's also street parking a couple blocks away.

Incredible! $12 valet, cash or venmo. Indoor and outdoor dining - I recommend outdoor!! Great for…read moregroups, let you stay as long as you want, service is SUPERB!!!! Staff were so friendly and incredibly attentive to the smallest details. Music was poppin 80s and 90s tunes around the start of the night. Bonus points for being kid friendly - they even had a high chair! We had a big group of 8 so we ordered family style. Zucchini flowers - This was good!! Stuffed with ricotta and some veggies with this BEAUTIFUL vibrant orange tomato sauce Sausage and mushroom pizza - Yummy pizza but not necessary to order, other spots probably have better! Osteria Chopped Salad - also not super memorable but not bad! Balanced the meal Polipo (octopus salad) - I really liked this!!! Had a nice chargrilled flavor, tasted kinda like chicken! Generous portion Tagliolini Limone - MUST HAVE!!!!!!!!! Incredible!!!! GET THIS! Creamy and almost reminiscent of a comfort mac n cheese or a cacio e pepe but light and lemony! It's why we ordered two! Tagliatelle Bolognese - I only tried a bit of this and probably waited too long since it was a little cold when I tried it, but nice. Not as memorable and kind of bland but the pasta was definitely fresh and al dente Lasagna Verde - Also yummy and fresh but liked the lemon pasta way more Bistecca Fiorentina - HUGE porterhouse steak cut right at the table into two plates worth of meat as well as potatoes and greens. The flaky salt did it all for me!! We ordered this steak medium to appease everyone in the group. Carrot cake - Weird take! Had a chocolate hazelnut filling and didn't taste much carrot, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good Bread pudding - The ice cream was the best part, nice comforting and warm Tiramisu - didn't try but looked delish Wine - great! Listen to whatever the staff recommends They also provide complimentary "bread" but it's more like crispy chips with olive oil and a vegetable couscous kind of dip. Not really my style. This meal was great but if this place had actual bread and butter it would've been even better. Overall great place for a celebration!!! Service is probably the best part of this dining experience and the food is good too. Be prepared to spend over $100pp if you're ordering this much. Would definitely come back!!!

Where they sat us. I don't even understand why they have tables on an incline. Very uncomfortable.
