After a recent not-so-great experience at a different Kohl's location, it was a good surprise to have a much better time during a visit to the Simi Valley store. I'd ordered several items online. A few were delivered, and the other items were available in-store. I also had to return one of the things I'd bought online. That return was handled quickly. The customer service person was efficient and friendly. She also explained how to find my pick-up order. They've created a maze of numbered bins adjacent to the customer service area. The hardest part of the pick-up was finding the right bin, as the numbers wander a bit. There isn't really any security in this area, but I was able to retrieve my order with no issues. From there I did a stroll around the store. It was Christmas Eve and they were busy, but not packed. They had some really good deals on holiday merchandise. It was all pulled to the front of the store in one place, regardless of the department from where it originated. As I had an additional 20%-off discount, it made sense to pick up a few items. Some of the clothing items I've bought from Kohl's in the past during December weren't around this year. I doubt they sold out already; rather, they are carrying less of the festive tops I like. Evolution (or de-evolution?) of certain styles. Checkout went smoothly. It seems that they've consolidated their check-out lanes to just one side of the store - in this case, the southwest area. When I first passed by there was quite a line. By the time I was done shopping, it was a short wait to be helped. The cashier still had a smile on her face - only about an hour to go until time to go home. This store was cleaner and better-stocked than another local Kohl's. Unfortunately we experienced a very unprofessional and extremely rude cashier named Rebecca with terrible costumer service. We started off by asking for the price for a pair of jeans. After she told us the price she said it was buy one get one, so I asked if it was buy one get one free or what the deal was. She looked at me and gave me a disgusted face and said "girl why would they be buy one get one free" making me feel stupid for even asking the question and acting like that isn't a real thing. I said "it was just a question" and she kept on giving attitude and acting like a smart ass. When my boyfriend saw all the attitude and disgusted faces she was making me he decided to not take the jeans. We said "actually we're not going to get them" and remained respectful. As we walked away she said "okay fuck you then". We did end up speaking to the manger who seemed very apologetic which we appreciate, but we hope there was some type of protocol that proceeded after this type of incident. Usually, there's two sides to a story but this was truly all that it was. I used to have a Kohl's charge but got rid of it about six months ago and I'm so glad I did because the other night I went online to purchase some things I needed that were on sale I had a 40% off coupon that they sent me in my rewards thing since I was still a rewards member and when I went to try to use it, it wouldn't get accepted. I think because my items were on sale then my husband saw my frustration and he offered to open a Kohl's charge to save an additional 40% off since I was spending close to $200 so he opened a card and even that 40% off didn't work so when we called capital one they said that it only works on full price items nowhere did it state that in order to save 40% off by opening a Kohl's charge that the item had to be regular full price. I'm just very disappointed cause back in the day as I used to shop there or you could use two or three coupons at one time and now it's come down to this not to mention all the exclusions on namebrand items like Adidas Levi's, etc. I heard they're closing some of their stores. The good: They sell a giant llama you could sit on (at home, not in the store). I got some really great men's jackets and a comfy hybrid bra/sports bra that I absolutely love. There is plenty of parking here and the store is organized. I got some cute baby clothes from here as well. They sell clothes for all ages, home goods, shoes, makeup and giftable items like car accessories, board games, desk accessories and more. The bad: They really reel you in with their store "bucks", credit card discounts, "on sale" signs (though it's always the sale price?) and the idea of "you saved this much!" I wish prices were just straight forward instead of it being this psychological game. I find their teen clothes to be cheap-looking and less trendy. I think their women's section is better. Amazon returns are located in the back so they can reel you in and get you to browse their selection. They also give you coupons after you return your Amazon goods to further entice you. Just went to use their Amazon returns. I had my expensive return in a mailer because I wanted it returned to Amazon in the original condition. The lady at the counter gave me total attitude. Took it out of the Amazon packaging. I told her I was afraid it would slip out if she returned it without the bag. She said I've been doing this a long time is this your first. I said no but it's expensive and it the first time anyone has done it without a bag she went on to put a label directly on the new condition packaging which will make it hard to resell. Went to the Simi Valley store and everything smells like perfume. The overwhelming smell hits you the minute you open the front door and walk in. Ever since they put the Sephora in the middle of the store I can't shop there. I assume the perfume spray is atomized and sucked into the AC system and distributed throughout the store. I had some online orders to return in store and the smell was so overwhelming, even in the far corners of the store. I went to the section that sells housewares and bought a couple of throw pillows while I was there. Got them home and had to leave them in the garage because they smell like perfume, too. Patti in the Sephora section at Kohl's is so rude. I am a makeup artist & i have to match my clients so I get samples before i purchase. If they pull of my history i have bought large amounts of product. I asked for 2 samples & i was asking for one more color just incase. I was trying to get Gracie's attention behind the counter (she was creating the samples), and Patti says in a rude tone "her name is Gracie, your limit is 3". I have never had a problem at ANY Sephora doing this, matter of fact the last time the girls were awesome & gave me so many without me even asking. Learn better customer service & do better. I've been a sporadic Kohl's shopper. Not quite ever letting my guard down and succumbing to their sale's tactics such as way too high prices coupled with numerous sales, deals, Kohl's cash, and in-store credit offers. I find that it's just easier and more cost effective to shop a fairly priced store without all the tricky sales. Now that this location is the last one standing in my general area, this is where I ended up when I needed to drop off an Amazon return. (Smart move, Kohl's!). So they keep the Amazon return desk just up front to the left of the entrance. Thankfully you can just go right to where you need to return and avoid walking through the store. But they then hand you a coupon for 25% off your purchases in the store. If you can resist using the coupon and just walk out then you'll be ahead. My kids needed a few clothing items that they needed to try on. So we walked around and I ended up buying 2 pr of boys shorts that ended up still costing $22 each after all discounts applied. read more

I ordered a few items online, for pickup, recently the day the my Kohl's cash was going to expire because why not use it?! The Simi location had 3 of the 4 items I wanted in stock so I had a pickup for 3 items in Simi and one item in Moorpark. When you go to retrieve your online order, you have an email from Kohl's with instructions and then a board that gives you a code at the store to tell you which bin number contains your order. Simple, right? In theory, yes! But it wasn't working that day! I even restarted my phone to see if it was my phone having the issue. It wasn't. I hit the button to request employee assistance and waited for 5 minutes. Lots of employees walked by but none stopped to see what I needed. I figured I'd just go through each bin and find my order since no one was going to assist me. It took 5-7 minutes but I found my order which had already been paid for. Each time an employee walked by, and there were many, I tried to ask if it's okay that I just take my order? No one paid any attention. I could have walked out with every single pick up order and no one would have said anything or stopped me! I keep getting reminder emails from Kohl's to come pickup my order because it wasn't processed correctly but I don't think that's my fault. I paid for the merchandise and brought it home. I requested assistance through their automated pickup system and tried to flag down several employees. This is Kohl's problem now. Not mine. read more

This Kohls location has helped me with a multitude of things from running shoes to ties. I've also received great customer service from their reps when it comes to shoe sizes and looking for items. Everyone working the KOHLS returns center is incredible. They're nice, efficient, can deal with crazy people (seen it first hand), and the amount of returns they need to deal with are insane. Their policy is lenient which helps them out, but the customer service that KOHLS return center provides is the best. Return centers are hard to handle due to customer complaints & merchant policy, but much respect to those that can handle it. The irresponsibility of the Amazon attendants is how this location has been earning a bad rep... Possibly call Amazon Returns to set you up with a prepaid UPS label instead. read more

Normally I get great service and prices at this location but I think most people would agree a company is only as strong as its weakest link. After buying a dress shirt that had a label that misrepresented the true length of the long sleeves, I went in to simply exchange the shirt. The cashier I first spoke with said there wasn't going to be an issue even with me misplacing my receipt. After finding a similar shirt made by the same brand, I went back to the same cashier to do the exchange. But she said that I needed to go to customer service since the shirt wasn't exactly the same. When I arrived at customer service, it was a short line. The gentleman tried his best to help me by asking me to provide the credit card I initially used. After going to through many of my cards and saying none are connected to my purchase, he looked over at the others in line and told me to wait while he helped someone who made an online order first. All I wanted to do was exchange the shirt for another similar one & simply pay the difference. This isn't rocket science. And why give up and start helping others?! After waiting another 10 min, he looked up the price of the 1st shirt and calculated the difference from the new shirt, and it came out to a few bucks. Cash paid. I am giving this 5 stars for one reason only - the return policy. I'm not much of a Kohl's shopper, but I bought an item for my mother, then needed to return it. I could not find the receipt anywhere, so I was expecting store credit. As I was walking up to Customer Service it occurred to me that maybe they would give me a refund if I showed them the charge on my bank statement (on my phone). Something interesting today. On April 11 was my birthday. My wife got me a $75 gift card from Kohl's. Today I want to use it got a pair of tennis shoes and some chocolate. Went out to check out gave the girl my card and she said there was no money on it. I got my card on April 11 and they said it was used on April 26 what's really funny is I have had major surgery on my left leg. And being tied down for 12 weeks not being able to go out of my own. So I know for sure nobody's ever use that card because it's been in my wallet. Called Kohl's and they said somebody's already use the card. And I said no the card has been in my wallet since April 11. and they would not honor the card and I had the receipt and the card. Did I ask to be transferred to a manager. And she sent me over to a voicemail and it hung up on me. The girl that the cash register heard the whole thing, and she was shocked to hear what they were telling us. Kohl's policies are why I prefer to shop Amazon.com!!!!! Absolutely ridiculous company!!! I received a Ninja appliance as a gift, purchased online at Kohls.com for $169.99. It shipped and arrived badly damaged, with the entire top of the appliance dented and crushed. I went to this store to exchange the damaged product for one that isn't damaged. The store did not have a replacement in stock. I was told by staff and manager, that I could return it for a refund of $169.99 and then go back online to order a new one. However, the price online had increased to $249.99 and I would have to pay the additional price increase! All I was asking for was an exchange of a damaged unit for another non-damaged unit! I already knew the price online was higher online before I went to the store. I pointed out how that is not right that I received a damaged unit and wanted an exchange and shouldn't have to pay an extra $80.00 to exchange for the exact same product. The managers advice was to order a new one online at the higher price of $249.99. When I receive the new one in 2 weeks, bring that receipt in with the damaged unit I have now, and then they'll refund the higher purchase price. Kohl's website advertises Hassle free returns!
