    Katsu Curry
    Josh M.

Had a great first experience here at Kohnami Sushi. I would definitely recommend reservations since it is a very tiny restaurant with limited seating (4-5 tables). The sushi was great for the price and the katsu curry was not bad. Wish the chicken katsu was a little crispier. Service was great given the fact that there was limited seating. I would definitely recommend the nigiri combo as well as trying a few of their rolls!

Food: Fresh, artistic presentation on the nigiri combo. Great portions & value. Miso soup tastes great, but doesn't have any tofu, seaweed or green onion in it. It is very simple & plain soup. Saw many Soju(Korean vodka) & Asians beer in the fridge! Service: On a slow side as I shown up at 7 pm on Thursday night & my waiter told me it will be about 30-40 mins wait for food to be ready due to their limited staffs. Otherwise, the only waiter works very hard to give his best services. Ambiance: Modern, simple & relaxing music with mountain view. Small & comforting spaces. Sum up: If you looking for a hidden gems sushi/Korean foods in Briargate area, Kohnami sushi will deliver your crave, but might be on the slower pace. Don't show up starving!

Left to right; California roll, Cheyenne mt roll, red rock roll. And wasabi.

Very well done. We ordered a California roll (for my 11 year old), Cheyenne mountain, and red rock. All were incredibly delicious even after sitting for roughly an hour after picking them up (carry out). I especially appreciate the fresh, raw wasabi. We walked in at 8:23 because online it said they were open till 9 but signs said 8:30. They were very accommodating, we opted to do carry out to not hold them over. The service was top notch. Would absolutely return on future trips to the springs.

Simply, the best Japanese food I have had in Colorado Springs. The prices are fair, the portions are large, the sushi is excellent and the service is attentive and kind. The staff here has always accommodated my 18-month-old son with grace and attention, offering smaller portions of food to help keep meals affordable, fun and most importantly, delicious. Highlights are all the sushi, beef bulgogi and the chicken fried rice. All the food is excellent, whether eaten in the clean, cozy restaurant, or taken to-go.

Cute tiny space, amazing customer service, and affordable good food. Filled up two people for less than $40 and it was so good, and came with free small soup. Very cozy and cute

First off from my experience the place was bought out this year from previous owners, and before it took a long time to get your order but it was delicious, so at first I was very hesitant that it will continue to deliver the same quality! However, after multiple visits(specifically during Holy Week -almost every Friday) this place doesn't disappoint, the quality stays consistent with the sushi and the Korean Reymun. We haven't being able to find a place that matches the same quality of fish every-time, it almost melts in your mouth is so good! Yes! it is a small place and may get full at times, but Anthony the server and hostess will inform you if the wait is long to maybe come back another time, but is well worth it! Their customer service i will rated excellent, they are always attentive if you need anything else. We usually try to come off pick so we can enjoy the food and take our time! End result: my family and I, Love this place! Please continue to be kind, and continue to make some excellent dishes!

Great local spot for Northern Colorado Springs! We will definitely be coming back. The sushi and bulgolgi were fantastic.

IMO, best sushi in town. be warned, it is a small intimate venue so reservations are recommended for the dinner rush time period.

Hands down the best sashimi in town! Tucked away in a neighborhood shopping area so it's quiet and peaceful. Must try.

Ask the Community - Kohnami Sushi

Do they have all you can eat?

    Unfortunately they do not.

Is this the same Kohnami business that used to be located off of South Academy a decade ago? My friend and I were fans of it, but then they left.

The fried cheese is very different from your other standard cheeses or mozzarella sticks. The cheese is much more firm with a light fry. The cup of bacon is fatty, salty, with a tiny bit of sweetness. The ricotta gnocchi bolognese has some amazing fresh gnocchi. The bolognese sauce was okay so it's a fine dish but I probably wouldn't get it again. The duck poutine has delicious fresh fries that end up crisp topped with tons of cheese and gravy. Not a lot of duck, but a great poutine overall. Every item is always a treat and unique and makes me want to try the whole menu.

I went solo and decided to sit at the bar where they had three bartenders that would rotate with all the customers making it very efficient and great coverage. The food was very inventive; not your typical fare even for a bistro. I started with the lobster tater tots that were served with ranch. He had the perfect amount of seafood flavor and a super crispy outer; I would recommend. Next, I had the ginger pork and crispy rice dish. This had a large helping of pork that did well with the Asian flavors and that crispy rice for texture; I would recommend. My final was the miso butterscotch tart. You can't go wrong with a dessert that has butterscotch, Biscoff, marshmallow and miso. The only criticism I could make was that the tart was pretty loose, but that did not take away from the flavor. To drink this place has lots of beer taps, a good selection of wine and plenty of interesting cocktails. I chose to have a couple beers and they were both very tasty. I would like to come back with additional people so that we could try more of the menu items. Unfortunately, it is an hour away from where I live, but the next time I find myself down in the springs, I will return.

Steak bites, truffle fries, brownie skillet... I want to come back just to try more food alone. This was insane and the pricing was good, the value was good, and I even ordered truffle fries to go because I loved it so much! What is super fun is that they now have wine tastings on Tuesdays and it is a great deal. $12 for four wines. Someone tells you about each wine and it's a great way to sample a bunch of wines, both local and not. I was super excited about that! I will again, come back to do that! Lots of positives there. And our server was very sweet. She was checking in and making sure we were doing well. I wish I knew her name but sadly I don't. But she was so kind and had a great personality. And everything came out fast! The vibes are also good. I love the outdoor seating/patio options for a hot summer night. And it was very lush. It's funny because I had never heard of this place before but it is in a fantastic area near Night Ramen and Provision Bakery (two amazing spots). Breakfast at Provision, apps and drinks at My Cellar Wine Bar, and maybe a dinner at Night Ramen. Haha! Just kidding, but again, great spot. Here's where I have issues. I worked in the restaurant industry for six years. I understand staying over close and even coming in close to close is a no no (at least for me). But we arrived at 7:30 pm and stayed until 9:45 pm. One of my best friends is getting married so she wanted to show us her dress and share her excitement. At 9 pm (note they close at 10 pm), they turned on the lights, began sweeping, closed the kitchen, and even at one point blasted music. We asked the waitress when they closed the wine bar. 10 pm. But what frustrated me the most is that the manager (I assume) came over and was acting extremely condescending. "I know you girls are having such a good time!!" And was trying to usher us out. Girl. You don't close until 10 pm. It's 9:45. If you didn't want us to stay, then maybe change the hours. I don't care if we are the only ones there. It was extremely rude and the way she said it felt, as I said, condescending. Like we were young and dumb or something. As a diner, I expect great service. Which we got for the most part. But to kick us out before it closes is unprofessional and frustrating. Of course we left, but god forbid a girl get excited about her wedding and wants to share all about it. This left a sour taste in my mouth and again, if you wanted to close early, maybe don't tell patrons the actual time you close: 10 pm. We bought a lot and a bottle of wine. Let us finish our glasses and I promise we will leave before close. I would still come back, but maybe I'll go to Vine and Wheel or another wine bar first.
