I went in here last night with my family. From the moment we walked in, The owner, Imad, not only warmly greeted us but recommended a few entrees. We went with the beef and chicken gyros and some side of fries. All I can say is, OH MY GOD, that was gooooooooooood!!! What impressed me the most was the meat, which tasted fresh and organic. The white yogurt sauce topped it off and made my taste buds go wild. Vegetables -- I'm not sure I've ever had tomatoes tasting so good. The gyros was wrapped in a not overly crunchy pita bread that's seared in the frying pan. The fries were also seared in the same frying pan, so it's taste was one a kind. Finally, to set the mood, we slid in a dollar into the Karaoke machine and listened to our favorite jams. Overall, hands down the best gyros I've ever had--anywhere. I am very displeased because I was stared down and then non-consensually filmed/photographed in this establishment by an older man working in the kitchen. I felt very uncomfortable and therefore did not say anything but tried looking back to make sure he knew I could see. My friends and I went to eat our food outside when we watched the man come out to show the man working at the counter whatever he had on his phone and said "...I took this picture...." which led to the second man looking over. Cook is soooooooooooo rude. Aside from having their "bacon" cheeseburger having one strip of bacon, if I did not ask for the sauces, they would have not put any. I was sitting nicely and just lazily watching them as I was tired and when the cook asked whether I like it to be to-go, I nodded and suddenly he yelled "talk to me!". This past weekend I traveled with my son and husband to San Diego to celebrate a birthday. I am familiar with Orange County but had never been to San Diego where my husband spent his early childhood. Our whole journey he would not stop talking about this Gyro place right on the beach that we had to visit. He said the owner was so nice and friendly and that the food was DELICIOUS. Well, he was right! Not only were we greeted with such a warm welcome by the owner who hasn't met my husband more than ten times (and I'm sure he was a drunken riot half those times) but our BLTs, onion rings, fries and nuggets were just what we needed before a day playing in the sand. The vibes were chill and the beer was not expensive, which I expected it to be since we were RIGHT on the beach. After my son ate all his fries the kind owner asked if he needed more. They also don't cheap out on the amount of salad they give you. Their bread that comes with the combo is also really good. It's sliced off a giant cylindrical slab of gyro meat and grilled I believe. They sauce is also really good as well! That's one of the things I love about Greek restaurants - their sauce! They are in a prime location at the end of W Mission Bay Dr across from Belmont Park and steps from the boardwalk and beach. The restaurant is clean and bright. The kitchen is right up front behind the counter with glass partitions for viewing. No tricky food prep here! That scored high with my slightly paranoid teens. We ordered classic gyro sandwich w/ fries, frilled chicken plate w/ rice and salad and Greek salad w/ chicken (sorry, we were really hungry and did not take pics). The food was good. Both kids not only enjoyed it but asked if we could go to the restaurant again another time. My salad was crisp and fresh. No soggy lettuce! The tzatziki sauce was creamy and not too tart. If went nicely with the chicken. Prices were what I expected to pay. About 11$ per meal. Staff was friendly. If you need something to eat while at the beach or enjoying Belmont Park, Kojacks is a good option. They offer standard American fare as well as Greek dishes, such as hamburgers and hot dogs if Greek isn't your style. read more

I'd rather sift through the garbages nearby then eat at Kojacks again. Twas a sunny afternoon basking in the sun when hunger called and I quickly needed to replenish my kCals. For the sake of time and most of all convenience, I stumbled upon Kocraps. The inside is confusing, am I supposed to go up and order, is there a waiter or waitress? Make up your mind with what you want to be. No, I'm not stupid, I heard someone else ask do I order here or do you take it. It's possible were both stupid but you shouldn't have to play a guessing game. We ordered waters, fyi, they come in bottles and they're pricey. $2.25 for a little guy. That crap better be piped from a spring in the sierra nevadas and bottled in the back. At least inform me or give me a choice between bottle and tap. Waters alone were almost as expensive as my home water bill. We ordered gyros and a chicken plate. Gyro was nothing to write home about. Just your average gyro. Tomatoes were greenish red and "blah." Meat was average and that might be generous. We are actually still waiting on the chicken plate, it never came. In its place we received a chicken gyro. Just like its brother lamb, was just blah and you any chain Greek would rival for better taste. The fries that cost over $3 looked and tasted like they were both over and under cooked. Not good. I ordered a soda and waitress assumed I wanted a large. There was more ice in that SOB than there is in your ice chest at full capacity in your fridge at home. Still not sure how they managed to get pepsi in there. Oh refills by the way, $1. Lame! Our check came and I felt like I needed Nicholas Cage to come and national treasure it to figure out the total. I should've burned the edges and framed it as an old treasure map with all the writing and scribbles going on. 2 meals ended up costing around $26 and it didn't even include a handi nap, mint or toothpick. I won't be back and if you're reading this debating where to go, walk a few extra steps to the burger or taco shop. Or starve yourself. Either way you're better off. read more

The bread was soft and deeelicious (Im a carb-ovore). She forgot my fries so I ended up just canceling them (I didnt need them anyway). My fiancé's meal was yumm. The meat was very well seasoned, a bit on the salty side but good. I wouldn't call his much of a salad, more like a gyro platter. There was rice, lots of meat, some lettuce, a few slices of pita bread, tomatoes, olives and pepperoncini. There was just as much rice as lettuce that's why I wouldn't call it a salad. I asked for a few pepperoncini and ended up being charged $2.95 for them! That's more than the fries! Not worth it. All in all a decent experience. read more

I've been back twice and they don't know what I am talking about. Two weeks ago I got a gyro and fries. It was good but not great. Today I got a gyro w eggs in it. Again good but not great. For 6.50 I think it is a ripoff too. They probably have high prices to pay the high rent on that rollercoaster tourist "strip" (Sandbar and Coasters probably pull in most of the money with their liquor licenses. The best gyro and souvlaki sandwiches in town! It's a hole in the wall establishment located right next to Sandbar which is right across from the Mission Beach roller coaster. They're open late, even on weekdays. I can't even begin to describe to you how good the food is here. Always cooked nice and hot straight from the grill. Big on quality and quantity. This is the only place that I like to go to for Greek food. My favorite of course is the souvlaki sandwich. Say hi to George if you stop by there, he's usually the one at the grill cooking. read more
