Steer clear of those macarons!!!! (Can I even call them that??) They were incredibly dry and hard! Macarons are supposed to be soft and chewy on the inside and melt in your mouth. These are definitely not it. Still stand by everything else though. Solid teas and delicious waffles!! read more

I visited the shop after 9:30 pm on a Saturday, close to closing time so that was probably my first mistake. I promised myself I wouldn't pressure impulse order a drink but I was the only one there, and the employees were patient but I could tell they just wanted me to order and get out. I just needed a quick little pick me up before heading home. I will say, I wish they would've had little menus - like what Kung Fu Tea offers, so that you don't have to stare at the menu screen while employees watch you. It'd be nice to just be able to sit down and look over a menu. This is the only boba shop that offers Thai Iced Tea, so I gave it a shot. Thai Iced Tea is so simple, and some places excel and others fail. Kokee's Thai tea was okay, it was a little bitter and lacked the creamy sweetness I desired. They didn't offer herbal jelly, and the employees didn't offer any samples, so I didn't want to bother to ask so I just got boba even though, as expected, it was late in the day and they were a little stale. I'd still go back and give them another shot, considering the shop is pretty close to home and they have a lot of other offerings I would like to try. read more

I'll be honest, the tea here isn't very good compared to all the other boba options around. I came during the soft opening, so maybe they are still working out the kinks. But so far, I'm not a fan. The inside is nicely decorated and they have pastries for sale, but I came for the boba. (They also had signs about crepes and waffle ice creams but they weren't available for order yet). I originally wanted the earl grey milk tea but the waiter told me it wasn't available yet... sorry to all the people waiting in line behind me bc I am not good at making spontaneous last minute decisions! I asked for recommendations and the waiter couldn't really say much other than point at the menu. So finally, I just picked out the lychee on lychee drink (lychee black tea with lychee jelly) but I asked to lessen the sweetness and substitute aloe for lychee jelly. They said it was ok and rang up my order. Then when my drink came, it didn't have the aloe! Eh, I just drank it anyway bc I was thirsty and didn't want to wait for them to make me the correct order. The drink was still too sweet despite the fact that I ordered less sugar. And it also didn't taste much of real tea. However, it was still drinkable and I finished it. My friends drink on the other hand, taro milk tea, was not even worth my calories. It was wayyyy too sweet and tasted like straight up sugar and powder with some water and ice. Not enjoyable! I'll come back in a few months time to see if they've improved and to try their other non-boba options, but in the meantime, you can find me at TeaDM or KFT. read more

Came here on Saturday with the wife while we were in the area. We were both really excited to try a new bubble tea joint, but were sadly disappointed with this place :( It's SUPER small, which isn't a big deal, it's NoVA so I know retail space can be REALLY expensive. There must have been some event across the street at the high school that had just finished as there was about 11 kids in the store along with one family (two adults and two smaller children) who were sitting in the table in the corner. We just came for the "smoothie" with added boba. The set-up of this place could use some work, most importantly they should probably place finished products ready to be picked up in a separate location (right now it's the same register where you order) which makes for a fun game of trying to squeeze by to get your drink, not bump into other customers or the large ramen snack stand they have -_- Despite all this, I was still excited to try it...my wife found a seat when a couple of kids left and we waited for about 10 minutes before our drinks were ready. The employee taking the order was very friendly/polite. I couldn't really hear them call my name to let me know the order was done, which was annoying...but again it was pretty packed. The straws here are terrible -_- if you tap it on the table to open it you end up bending the pointed end (which makes it incredibly difficult to put the straw through the lid) ripping the straw open wasn't much better. I had the peach smoothie with boba and it was soooo sweet. I wasn't sure what to expect since this was a new flavor I never had...it tasted like the haribo peach candy...which I liked..it was just entirely too sweat for me. My boba was fine, definitely on the sweeter side, but that was probably just from the amount of sugar/syrup they put into my smothie. My wife's taro smoothie was TERRIBLE! Possibly the worst we've had...the taro was bland and tasted more milky-icy than taro flavored. The boba in her drinks were very chewy and slimy...a texture I had never encountered before. I wanted to try the ice-cream roll-ups, but unfortunately I don't anticipate we'll be back. If you're going to come...I'd stay clear of the taro bubble tea and the peach unless you're looking for a sugar fix... read more

I got mango and passion fruit. It was delicious. Not too sweet. And they have happy hours time like 20% off on certain time like 5 to 8 pm. Customers was nice and friendly. Either get a drink or roll ice cream. I did the try rolls ice cream. It pretty much just like regular ice cream. I feel like I just pay for decoration and services. My first experience at Kokee tea was in the centreville location. I loved it, I used to drive there from Annandale just to get my fix. Moving to my new house in Fairfax, I was happy to find that there is a Kokee tea near me now! Tried this location for the first time with my fiancé last week, and thought the service and quality of drinks they provided was okay. I ordered the matcha milk tea and requested the least amount of milk possible, however, they still made it pretty creamy. My fiancé ordered the golden harvest and requested for it to be extra sweet, but they sweeten it with honey, so it wasn't as sweet as he expected, however it was still pretty good. The next time we came I got the white peach oolong and I loved it, so light and not too sweet. I got it with Crystal boba which is an extra 75 cents but they gave me so little! And working nights it always helps to have the sugar and caffeine boost. But that's not the only reason I kept going back. They gave yummy combos and are fast! They're very nice. I ordered the regular Kokee Milk Tea w/ tapioca and I thought it was a pretty solid boba drink. I tried some of my friend's hot Tiger Tea and that one was the bomb-diggity. The thing that I want to highlight from my experience here (and why I give it a 5 star) is the service. The place is new, and previous reviews critiqued the employees' understanding & workflow, which is something that's understandable given the new opening, but thankfully that seemed to have worked itself out over the past month.
