Fries and fries jalapeños were very good and crispy. Typically get soy wings but the plain wings were the winner today. They stayed crispy and you can dip in sauce of choice. Ordered side of rice and it was a tad dry. Free refills on radish and salad which is nice because most other places charge for it. Rose ddukbokki was new for me and VERY good

Yesterday afternoon I went to visit Koko Chicken in Garden Grove. It wasn't very busy. There was probably one other table seated and some people coming in and out for takeout orders. The server was very friendly, very attentive, and great about taking my order. They only make the chicken fresh here; it's all made to order. They dropped off some pickled daikon and some coleslaw-like cabbage dish and then I waited for about 15-20 minutes before the chicken came out fresh. I got a two-piece crispy fried chicken with fries and steamed rice. He also brought out ketchup and the sweet soy on the side for me. The chicken was so juicy and crispy on the outside; it was amazing, definitely one of the best fried chicken experiences in Orange County. If you need a quick lunch this might not be the spot but it's a great place to have phenomenal fried chicken. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a dark vibe inside but I know at night it's fun to drink and eat here with your friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will definitely come back.

I have been back twice this month. I've seen some new posters on the wall stating "new oil every 50 piece chicken", man if this is true, I'll be here more often. The chicken taste a lot better. They spread it out on a flat plate which is good because the old bowel type plates trap heat and moisture when the chicken is piled on top of each other causing excess steam and making the chicken soggy. The chicken taste a lot better and have a golden crisp look to them. If they keep this up, I'll come back more often. This change is good! Keep it up

One of my favorite spots for KFC! My favorites are the pepper soy wings and the rose tteokbokki. Everything else is also very delicious. This place is especially one of my favorite spots for rose tteokbokki. It's savory and creamy with bits of garlic, bacon and sausage mixed in. The pepper soy wings do a tiny kick from the black pepper if you are sensitive to spice. The soy base is also savory and umami which you can't go wrong with. One of my friends got the sweet and sour wings which was delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I came with a big party of friends and they were able to seat us together. There's lots of seating inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated right under the TV initially and we found it a bit too loud, but they were able to accommodate us further from the TV.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food is yummy and fresh. The soy wings are the best, and still crunchy even though it's loaded with sauce! We got the rose rice cakes too and they were also good but heavy.

Ordered takeout. Service was okay, lowkey was being given attitude. The soy sauce flavor was good, but too soggy.

My brother and I revisited this place after years and we were not disappointed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We came here late at night and it was a great atmosphere with loud music and dim lighting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were seated immediately when we came at around 11pm. Both of us weren't too hungry, so we thought getting chicken would be too much and went with a small dukbokki and tornado fries to share. The dukbokki was the perfect amount of sweet and spicy and came out piping hot! I highly recommend getting it with the cheese because it just melted so nicely and the cheese pull was insane. We also got it with dumplings for some protein. Not sure what kinda dumplings they used but they were delicious and better than most dumplings I've tried. The tornado fries were sooo crispy and the portion size was HUGE for the price. We ended up taking most of it home and it tasted even better when we reheated it in the airfryer the next day. Koko's will always be a classic fav that I return to!

This place was so good. The chicken was extremely well cooked. Stayed nice and tender. Our service was good but we also came really early so take that for what you will. We got the Parmesan and the koko fried chicken. Both of these were so delicious and I highly recommend. It's a very addictive treat and feels fresh.

This Joint Opens In The Late Afternoon & Closes Pretty Late. I Would Consider The Food Items As Bar/Beer Food. The Fried Wings Were Pretty Fresh & Good!! I Dipped Them In The 'Hot' Sauce. It Had A Kick But Too Sweet For My Tastebuds. The Complimentary Daikon Radish Is Also Too Sweet.

KoKo Chicken has been our go to for Korean Fried chicken for years. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a chill casual place with friendly service and good drinks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My brother and I used to fight over drumsticks as kids, but KoKo has an all drumstick option which finally stopped our fighting! Favorite sides are Tornado Fries and if you like a kick, the Fried Jalapeños are fire. Today I felt my head needed something after a night of Soju (which KoKo has in abundance), so I ordered the Spicy Tofu Soup. Savory and spicy, with radish, potato, and zucchini, it's the perfect thing for the day after. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a great place for large groups and good times.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Enjoy!

We decided to order takeout from this place, and I was surprised that the fried chicken was crispy and fresh when we got home. Service was friendly and price was decent if you're sharing. We tried their Parmesan wings, soy wings, and regular fried chicken with sauce (sweet & sour). All were great. Flavorful in their own way and crispy! Rose Dukpokki were okay. We added extra cheese too. The rice cake were very chewy though. Supreme fries were good but got soggy.

Ample parking, several restaurants, businesses, and karaoke next door. There are several locations. Koko is Our favorite place for Korean chicken! They do it right! Juicy, crispy , various sauce options. We like to order original wings , sauce on the side because it's crispier that way. Good sized wings! Our favorite dip sauce is the "hot", it's gently sweet with a tiny kick, it's Not buffalo. Don't sleep on the tornado fries . They taste good dipped in the hot sauce as well. And the corn cheese is sooooo gooey and cheesy, yummmmm. Already sauced wings are great as well. Came on a Saturday night, it was busy, but our party of 2 got seated within 5min. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a lively ambiance, I saw groups of friends , couples on a date night, Laker game on the tv.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Despite the busyness , service was effective. Expect a little wait for your wings, it's made upon order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Really loved the energy , lots of positive vibes in the air.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hard working, content staff all around. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good customers, heard friends laughing together.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This would definitely be a great place for groups[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . Also saw a lot of phone orders being made, so if you want to stay in, looks perfect for Netflix and chill as well!

The chicken wings here were so delicious! Price was decent place was not to busy lot of seats seem very chill and welcoming. Was not loud. There are TVs which if you're like my family like to eat and watch TV. The chicken wing were perfectly crispy and the taste of sweet and tangy of soy sauce was fantastic. I have been craving it since I definitely recommend. Also service was good too.

Ask the Community - KoKo Chicken & BBQ

Is koko chicken better than pelicana?

Taste is subjective, so I don't think it's fair to say one is better than another. That's for customers to decide. What makes Koko different is that we're not a franchise. We hand-cut our chicken, make our batter and sauces fresh every week, and use…

What type of oil do you use to fry the chicken?

Hello, Shlbs T. We use canola oil because it’s a healthy option with a mild taste. It’s great for cooking and baking because it has a high smoke point, meaning it can handle…

Do you have any gluten free options? I have celiac.

Hello Brittney, Yes, we do have gluten-free options. Our JR. Wings are fried without batter. We also have some Korean dishes that can be gluten-free, like kimchi fried rice,…

Is your fried Chicken gluten free?

Hi, we have two gluten free menu. Jr wings and grilled chicken. Both them are batter-ness. Thank you…

What oil is used for frying?

We use Vegetable oil Thank you.

Is the hot flavor a different name of the sweet and spicy flavor? I've been trying to find the sweet and spicy flavor but the only similar thing I see is the hot flavor.

We change the name sweet&spicy sauce to sweet&sour sauce if you are looking for the orange colored sauce with chili flakes.

Do you guys take parties of 10+ people?

    YES! WE DO.

Is there outdoor dining, animal friendly?

Sorry, outdoor dining is currently not available.

    Do you accept apple pay?

    Yes we accept apple pay

What is the dressing on your cabbage salad. I absolutely love it. I've moved to Washington and haven't had it in over 4 years. I can't tell if it's a modified tangy thousand island or what. Can you help me?

PLEASE. Someone answer this. I moved to Florida and am in the same boat. My guess was kewpie mayo and possibly some sort of kimchi

What items are dairy and soy free on your menu?

Hi Janet, We do not add nuts, Soy, or Dairy powders to our batter.…

Does Koko do catering of wings/large orders?

Yes we do. It depends on size of order but please order at least 24 hours in advance. thank you

Has the restaurant opened for Indoor dining?

    Yes

    How much is delivery?

Hello Michelle, We DO NOT provide any kind of delivery service for the time being. You may find us on…

Are you guys doing outdoor dining?

Yes! Outdoor dining is now open!

Hi, during the covid-19, can we order cheese corn to-go?

Unfortunately corn cheese is for 'dine- in' only. It will continue to be this way regardless of covid-19 because it is best served directly out of the iron skillet. :) Thank you!

Do you delivery or using any app for deli?

Hi, We don't use a delivery service on our side. But a lot of customers use doordash. Thank you for…

Just wondering, if I order 12 wings of regular and 12 wings of soy...would you charge me 12.99 x 2 or the price for 24pcs $21.99?

Order wings with sauce on the side. I would always get 24pieces with hot sauce and sweet soy on the side. You can have the best of 3 worlds.

Are you guys open for pickup?

Yes we are open for take out only. Thank you

Are you associated with any delivery service?

Hi Laura! I'm sorry but we are not associated with any delivery service.

When I received my food 45 minutes later, it was the complete wrong order. I received a rose tteokbokki with ssal tteok. I mentioned this to the kind lady behind the counter and she remade my food. However, when I got the freshly made dish, it was still the wrong order. She remade the dish with garaetteok but it was still rose, and not the grandma style. As it was approaching a whole hour since ordering, I just accepted the food, even though I tried to explain to her that what I received was the wrong order. She told me that what I got was the grandma tteokbokki, which the dish was not since it was creamy and had sausage and bacon. I would have asked for another remake, but she had posted a sign that said the restaurant closes at 1:30pm, and it was shortly after that time. I was hoping to have a good time here since the reviews are great, but this experience makes me apprehensive to give the place a try again.
