I have mixed feedback regarding this place. I can see why it's popular because it has a unique concept and experience. It has bone broth soup and it has an inviting environment. We sat near the bar and people were friendly. We started with cocktails and got the coconut and mint with rum. My husband got one with tequila and ranch water. Both cocktails were very disappointing! Mine didn't have the mint muddled and it didn't have any distinguished flavor... I also didn't taste any alcohol so I had to ask what was in it. It was very plain. The same with my husband's. Both tasted like inexpensive well drinks and no character. Wouldn't recommend the cocktails. We also got sourdough garlic bread. This was good but not worth $9. I then ordered the Moonlight soup and ordered salmon in it. Please note that all soups will not come with protein so you have to order that on the side. Mine did come with some tofu so it had protein but the addition of fresh salmon was nice. The soup was tasty. It had shiitake and miso flavoring. I was toggling between a 3 and 4 rating. I felt that since it was using Asian influences, it could at least be respectful to Asian culture (chopsticks were stuck in the soup so it can be taboo with meaning death or bad luck). I didn't particularly like that and sort of felt that these were all Asian based soups with no reference to Asian culture. It felt a little odd to me. While I enjoyed it, my husband's soup was a bit lukewarm and tasted like Thai curry soup. Tasty but not hot which is a bummer. I think the kale cooled it down. I do think the soups should be more obvious that the soups do not contain protein. This should be noted at the top not at a separate bottom section where it's labeled that you can add the additional fish to any of the soups (just have it next to the soup and salad sections instead). This place was recommended to us as the top spot in Port Angeles. The sound of fish broth sounded enticing to us so we made this our first meal in town. We got a couple of cocktails but could barely taste any alcohol in them. They were priced at $13 but tasted like well drinks with club soda. For shareable we ordered the garlic sourdough bread. It came with 3 slices of toast for $9. It was tasty but ridiculously priced if you ask me. For entrees we got the Yodelin broth with rockfish, and the Moonlight with salmon. The Yodelin is essentially Thai coconut curry. The Moonlight is a more unique and better tasting fish broth. I had wanted udon noodle with the Yodelin but they now only serve rice noodle every broth according to their latest menu. The broth itself costs $19 and with only noodle (the Moonlight comes with a bit of tofu) with no protein. With the protein add-on, the whole dish comes out to $30+ for what is essentially a basic bowl of noodle. In my opinion, this place is overrated and overpriced for what you get. The ambience is great with both indoor and outdoor seating. I give it 3 stars but it's more accurately a high-2 / low-3 for me. read more

The vibes of this place are immaculate. It's so cozy and screams PNW. Our server was also really friendly and attentive. We got the salmon rice bowl, cauliflower and yodelin broth with shrimp added. The quality of the ingredients were fantastic, you could tell how fresh it was but the actual dish itself wasn't anything crazy. The yodelin broth was a bowl of complex flavors. I saw Yodelin on Yelp. I knew they were one of the best restaurants in Port Angeles. As we passed by going to ONP, I saw how busy the restaurant was. We immediately made reservations for dinner. Maybe I should've taken the time to read the reviews and menu instead of looking at the stars. Maybe my family and I ordered the wrong thing. We ordered three bowls of soup, the Yodelin, the Inner Coastal and the Hang Ten. The Yodelin and Hang Ten were bone broth made of fish in a Thai soup style noodle bowl. The Inner Coastal was a pho style noodle soup. My wife didn't like her Hang Ten as she thought it was too sour with the lime that they put in there. The Inner Coastal in no way resembled pho. The Yodelin was the the most mild with its coconut yellow curry broth, but, it was still a little sour because of the lime. Service was okay. We were seated almost immediately. The wait staff was attentive. I wasn't expecting Asian noodle soups while visiting Yodelin. We didn't like it. Lots of people do like this place. I'm not one of them. This place is amazing--great vibes and open space and the food is so fresh and delicious. We've been traveling all day and wanted a nice sit down dinner and this was perfect. We started with the garlic bread which was so yummy and really hit the spot--it was so crispy and buttered to perfection. We also got the fresh small potatoes with a side of horseradish which were also good. They are just boiled potatoes but you could tell it was very fresh and welcomed at our table. To start, I ordered the Yodelin, which I will rate a 2/5. It's their version of a coconut yellow curry lime wild halibut bone broth. Now, the sad part is there wasn't really much of a curry flavor, and the entire broth was way too citrusy (like they over-seasoned it with lime), which pretty much overpowered the dish. To be honest, I couldn't even taste any curry or halibut bone broth and was quite disappointed. Also, it looks like they put KALE in practically 3/7 of their broths. I'll be honest, it doesn't seem like it fits, especially being crunchy and bitter. The ratio of broth to toppings was not well-balanced; I felt like it was 40% broth and 60% ingredients. To make matters worse, my partner ordered the Inner Coastal, which was shiitake mushroom lemongrass chicken bone broth with rice noodles. In a way, it presented itself and looked like their interpretation of pho, but it was nothing of the sort and fell short. It just tasted bland with overpowering lemongrass. It never felt like the actual chicken broth itself shined through. I'll rate this a 2/5 as well. Now, outside of what they're known for (which is the broths), their other items tasted great. The No Can Clam Chowder was delicious (5/5), with fresh clams and a creamy base that balanced well with the salinity of the seafood. The Tillamook Grilled Cheese was well-grilled with a great crunchy texture and a cheesy bite (5/5). Lastly, the Always Baked Small Potatoes were just that--small, salted potatoes that were baked, served with a side of ranch. Despite being very simple, the freshness and quality stood out. I say all this to say that I really wanted to like this place because of its creative, bold take on utilizing fish bones as a base for a lot of their broths. If done correctly, I think this place could be even more successful than it already has been. However, the lack of depth in the bone broths was really the biggest disappointing factor for me. Ambiance: There's a nice charm to this place being run out of an old house. They had a range of seating included heated tents, casual picnic benches, or indoor which was a little fancier feeling. Service was very friendly and they were helping in answering questions and making suggestions. Food took about 20 mins which was maybe a little surprising considering we only ordered soup. Food: Overall things here have a homemade taste to it meaning things tasted clean, healthy, and maybe a little simple despite the long list of ingredients they list in their descriptions. I had the coconut ginger soup which had a nice complex broth taste with light coconut flavor, you can see in the picture it still has an almost watery translucency to it so it's not that heavy. With all the basil, cilantro, and jalapeño toppings it brightened the dish up even further. I did add shrimp and was surprised to find they were baby shrimp only half a centimeter large at best but there were a ton of them so it was still a filling dish. My main complaint was my rice noodles were overcooked so very mushy. My friend had the gulf soup and was honestly a little disappointed as it tasted almost like an Italian wedding soup with a simple tomato-based broth and fairly standard macaroni noodles. The flourless brownie was just fine. It had an underdone almost pudding like texture and a fairly standard chocolate flavor that didn't stand out in any way but they do serve it with a demiglace which was a nice touch. Overall this place was good but I've had better pho broth at Vietnamese restaurants, better coconut curry soups at Thai restaurants, etc. This place caters to a health-conscious crowd that favors clean light flavors. You pay a premium for their high quality and fresh ingredients but I think "normal" people expecting incredibly savory and rich soups might be a little disappointed. Ok, I am struggling with this review because it can be so good and also so bad. In our short 4 nights stay in Port Angeles, we went to Yodlin twice. That's saying something because I like trying new restaurants. So going to the same place twice in a short trip, is rare. Our first time we tried their clam chowder, the salmon rice bowl, and the Yodlin (adding clam). With drinks and everything, it became a bit of an expensive yet 'light' dinner. However, we did love the vibe there. The weather was mild enough to sit outside with a nice bowl of hot soup, the staff was friendly and food for the most part, was very tasty. Hubby had the rice bowl which he did love the flavor, but it was more a salad than a 'rice bowl'. I loved the taste of my broth, but for a bowl of noodle soup highlighting on the broth, there wasn't enough soup. And because there was soooooo much kale, it quickly got cold. It was great the first half of the meal, but you basically have to eat it fast. However, we loved the flavor so much, and I thought to myself, just let them know to reduce the kale and it would be great. We went the second time. I ordered a different broth (Moonlight), added clams and hubby got a fish burger. I specifically asked to reduce the amount of kale, however, the broth was not tasty enough so the 2nd time there, did not have the same magic. It became an expensive, not-so-tasty light dinner. I think had I live in the area and know exactly how to order and tweak it to my preference, I'd frequent Yodelin. Interesting, tasty, and really healthy, fresh food. Specializing in bone-broth soups which you can get plain or with lots of veggies and if you wish, meat or tofu. Great service. I had the fish broth with vegetables, plus roasted broccoli, garlic bread, and the bread pudding dessert. The soup was surprisingly filling! It took me 3 meals to finish it all, especially with all the sides too. Everything was delicious, although I did wish for more garlic on the bread. I will definitely go back. Next time I'd like to try the Hama Hama Clams, or add tofu or clams to my soup. And of course I want to try more of the broth flavors and desserts! They also have sandwiches and hamburgers. And some really interesting no-alcohol drinks. I wished that chicken and other meats were available chopped or shredded rather than only in large whole pieces. The hospitality felt off-kilter. The dining space is not kept at a warm-enough temperature where we could take our coats off. Was this in fact a campsite remake, where some biking- or kayak-gear heads decided to play "Chef in the kitchen" for a novel change? The hospitality is not up to par with warm, welcoming dining experience. It felt "awkward". The soup broth of their signature "Yodelin" was imbalanced-- as if made by a yahoo who recently encountered Thai or Asian flavors such as curry/lime/coconut milk, then tried to emulate them without the discipline of learning how the ingredients are treated in the original culinary tradition. Broth was too sour, base notes of coconut oil were heavy-handed, and the broth needed sugar to add depth/round out the taste. The after taste was not pleasant -- even hours later. The broth was made with fish bones (I think? No explanation offered by wait staff...) so it is not vegetarian, but the soup is served with noodles and veggies only. Any protein is additional upcharge. The cod I added was $10 over base price. Total for a generous bowl of soup was $35. The soup bowl was filled with raw vegetables that should never be served raw in any soup (even Asian-adjacent). Did the newly-minted "Kitchen Bro-s" want to experiment with a salad and soup in one? A fistful of kale, not even julienned to exclude the stalks, topped the broth. Kale has oxalates which don't digest in the gut easily unless you wilt or cook it, at the very least (...old food cultures have worked this out). Awkward to eat this soup/salad when only a regular tablespoon is offered, not a soup spoon. As well, plonking in a separately-cooked filet of cod whole, as an afterthought, defeats the purpose of soup. The whole idea of soup is that it is slowly-simmered, and infuses a blend of ingredients together. I often make a salmon chowder where you can have bits of fish and vegetables that flow easily into the mouth. Here you are left trying to cut the cod-- served as a filet-- while it is in the liquid soup. Then you have to slurp up broth to wash it down -- a disjointed mouth feel. The cod though top quality, still lacked in seasoning (marination with some acidic element would help). After a cold wet hike, I was soooo looking forward to trying this place. But frankly, next time I'll stick to the warm hospitality and authentic-to-tradition food culture, taste, and kitchen chops of nearby SABAI THAI! The following day I had a $17 bowl of Tom Kha soup at KHU LARB in nearby Port Townsend.....damn, that was excellent hot and sour coconut milk soup flavor, flowing with fully cooked assorted veggies, exactly 1/2 the price of what I had in Yodelin. Their marketing about being "PNW (Pacific Northwest)" cuisine seems like a fake flag, I assure you the Japanese, Chinese, and Philippinos have been integral to every industry here right from the beginning - so Asian food is on equal footing as "PNW". Their marketing on "sustainability" is odd when customers are given plastic glasses and water pitchers and a plastic bowl -- not porcelain and glass. read more

Oh my goodness! Cozy spot, and the food is like pho meets curry. We had the Chimi some Wild Salmon sandwich and the Yodelin bowl. The chimichurri aioli on the sandwich was awesome, and the Yodelin bowl, well...I don't even know how to describe it! Incredible spot that we felt really good about supporting. We were passing through the olympic peninsula on a camping trip and stayed in port angeles for the night. Turns out port angeles is not a destination spot for restaurants, to our dismay! Luckily we came across Yodelin, which made our stay in Port Angeles totally worthwhile. They have cute outdoor seating, covered and uncovered. It was a bit windy so we sat inside. The service was impeccable and the waitstaff were super friendly and accommodating, definitely a small town vibe. Inside the ambiance was so hip! I got a vegan bowl. They make their own vegan patties so I added that to the bowl. The waiter said it would be a lot of food but worth it. It was a ton of food, could have been shared! But healthy and absolutely divine. My friend got soup and loved hers as well. On our way our we noticed a sign that noted they support local community nonprofits. Also, they focus their dining expeiece on local, sustainable fishing and ingredients which we love to see! A wondeful experience top to bottom. The place has a unique theme and cute ambiance. The service is fine and the food is nicely presented. But it all just ends there. When it comes to the actual taste of the food it's really falling apart. This seems to be a new restaurant so I really hope they will take some time to redevelop their menu, reset the prices, and really do some taste test before rolling out the new menu. The foods are either really bland, or has a strange and unpleasant taste to them. First of all, all of their fish broth noodles dishes are vegetarian... which is really weird and counterintuitive. If you're already using the fish broth as the base, then why not have actual fish meat in the dish, too? (It's not "vegetarian" anymore whether you have fish or not at this point). I only noticed that the fish isn't part of the dish until the dish came, and I am sure I wasn't the first or only one. Any dish with fish in it (salad, side dish), the fish has an overcooked texture and also bland without enough seasoning. The boiled clam dish was a bit better but it seriously needs some salt and garlic to boost the taste. The garlic toasts are dry. The yodelin noodle dish uses a curry base but it is really sour for some reason. Also the so called "udon noodles" aren't even close to the real udon noodles. I see the intent of attempting some innovation and fusion to the food but none of it seems to be working. Yum yum yum!! i can't remember the last time i was blown away by greens, the taste, crisp, freshness, and mouth feel was surprisingly a WOW, OMG, moment. I got the salmon bowl, 3 times so far, and my fam and friends who got it were raving about it too. Broth bowls were great too. I got the inner coastal. Especially if you're a mushroom lover, so good!! Fries delicious and the other OM dish ("orgasm-in-my-mouth", I started saying that decades ago with my girlfriends after trying our first molten lava cake!) was the Coconut Chia Pudding w Blueberry Compote. That's like a healthy dessert we all make at home, right? Well, not like theirs!! Several of us have tried to duplicate it at home. Not as good as Yodelin's! Wait staff super friendly. I really enjoyed my lunch at Yodelin! My mom and I came on a Tuesday during a road trip to visit Olympic national park. We saw this restaurant on the way into the park the day prior and we like fish so we were curious from the sign. I found out it's famous for its homemade broths rather than fish per se, but they had a lot of fish based dishes. When we came, I got one of the udon bowls (I believe it was called the "moonlight"), and my mom got a salmon grain salad bowl. I also got an order of sourdough bread on the side (2 pieces with butter for like $3.50?). Both of our dishes were HUGE, I was struck by how much food it was! We were totally stuffed. The server was also very attentive and friendly, very much appreciate the kind and quick service since we were in a bit of a hurry to stay on schedule :) The ambiance inside was very nice, and the patio was lovely - although it was too windy/chilly to sit outside the day we came. The bathrooms were immaculate, and we did not feel crowded at all inside, even though their (too small) parking lot was near full when we came (we got the last spot - there was a car that came just after us, and someone got out and the driver had to leave and park somewhere else). So plan accordingly! Overall - I really enjoyed my udon here, the salmon based broth I got was very hearty and warming. Our AirBNB listed Yodelin as one of the best restaurants in Port Angeles and we would agree. Parking lot out front is relatively small and right off a main road so be careful driving in. I believe there's additional parking to the side that's accessible off W Motor Avenue. The service and atmosphere inside is great - very cozy and perfect for the PNW. They also have some outdoor seating available on nicer summer days. There's a plethora of Yodelin merchandise to buy right when you walk in and I'm not surprised they probably have a large local fanbase. The food overall was delicious. Definitely a little more on the pricy side , but everything tasted extremely fresh. I had the Salmon Bowl and you could distinctly taste every ingredient between the salmon, the radishes, cucumbers, eggs, tomatoes, etc... The Clam Chowder was pretty interesting - a little more citrusy and vegetably than I'm used to, but I think it fits into the more health-conscious cuisine of the restaurant. After coming off several days of fried foods, this was a very welcome treat. We'll be back if we're in Port Angeles! read more

We picked Yodelin for our last meal of the trip while heading home from Victoria. The restaurant is very homey in nature; in fact, I'm sure it was originally built as a single family house and then converted into a restaurant. When we visited for lunch on a quiet November morning, there weren't too many patrons inside at all and we managed to get a seat immediately. I hear that in the summer, this place gets packed with tourists though! The interior smells strongly of garlic lingering in the air. It's a great aroma to whet the appetite. Chimi Some Salmon Sandwich ($19) - Let's start with the salmon - it's excellent. Dark pink in color, the flesh remains extremely tender, flaky, and moist. Honestly a lot better than some fine dining establishments I've visited... However, I did find some bones embedded in the meat, which isn't the most convenient given the sandwich format. The chimichurri, lathered on top of the meat, is interesting but I'm not sure it should be considered to be a chimichurri at all. It uses a creamy mayo base rather than the typical oil and It tastes heavily of mint. Any any red wine vinegar acidity (if vinegar is even used at all) is overshadowed by the crunchy pickled red onion layered on top of the salmon. Feta cheese is smashed on the bottom bun to give a rich, salty taste, along with a bit of siracha mayo that offers only the tiniest hint of heat. The bun itself is toasted until even the outer crust along the top is rather hard. For some reason, I get a bit of a rye flavor in the bread, although I believe it's just a normal sesame bun. Overall, this is certainly a very tasty sandwich. I probably would have preferred the salmon in a bowl format rather than sandwich given how messy it was to eat though! The sandwich comes with salted kettle chips, slaw, and a pickle on the side. The slaw dressed heavily with apple cider vinegar, giving a distinct sharp acidic bite but a softer fruity note in the background. There's actually too much vinegar, creating a pool of liquid on the bottom and creating an overly tangy bite for me. They pepper the salad with pepitos and sunflower seeds, adding even more crunch. I decided to take the rest home and I actually enjoyed it much more after I strained out some of the liquid. The acidity becomes much better balanced. (4/5) No Can Clam Chowder ($13) - This is a really high quality clam chowder, absolutely filled to the brim with both chopped and whole clams, not to mention plenty of tiny bay shrimp. I've never seen this many clams in a clam chowder before. There's almost too much clam taste - enough that there's a kind of bitterness in the broth. The soup, quite a bit more liquidy than a typical clam chowder, has something in it that warms the back of the mouth. I don't believe the feeling is from capsaicin or black pepper, so it's a little curious. The chowder is otherwise very clam-forward and salty; the cream added doesn't dilute the flavor out at all. The clam is purged well, resulting in whole clam pieces without any grit. Other than the seafood, there are larger chunks of tender potato and plenty of leek and some celery. Again, this is an extremely high quality chowder, but my personal preference is for chowders that are a bit thicker. (4/5) Classic Garlic Bread ($7) - We weren't going to order this originally, but that garlic smell drifting from the kitchen got to us. An order includes three pieces of toasted sourdough topped with the classic butter garlic and herb mixture, giving tons of salty garlic flavor. The bread isn't toasted that heavily. The edges are harder, while some of the interiors remain soft and fluffy with only the tiniest of toasted crisp on the surface. They serve the garlic bread flat on a plate, so the bottoms start to steam a little. It's a good garlic bread for sure, but this isn't something I normally order and probably wouldn't order again. (4/5) I can tell that the food Yodelin serves is very high quality, much higher than I would expect for the price point. I'd be happy to return the next time I'm in Port Angeles to try some other dishes - it's probably one of the best restaurants in town. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms read more

I will be honest, at first glance I thought this place was going to be all about broth bowls and wondered what I was going to enjoy. While it has quite the variety to choose from, it was pleasantly more than that. Service here was fantastic! Very homey and warm. Staff shared their suggestions and were very quick to provide service. The food was delicious. We enjoyed one Yodelin broth bowl with salmon, a PNW rice bowl with salmon, and a side of garlic bread. Coffee's were also very well made and a delight. Overall, lunch was a great experience, very filling, and a great value and were it not for the 3,000 miles between me and this place, I would be a regular. Enjoy! read more

This restaurant has some unique dishes, mainly their broth noodles. We had the moonlight (salmon broth) and yodelin (halibut curry broth) noodles. Proteins were extra which makes it a pretty pricey meal. The broths had good flavor but they were a bit sour. All the ingredients looked and tasted fresh. The outside of the building was pretty with extra attention to the flowers. They had a nice selection of books on local mushrooms and fish which was a cool touch. The service wasn't bad but it also wasn't great considering we were the only people there. The host was super occupied doing something else and never got to our garlic bread. My girlfriend wasn't impressed with the clams but that's in comparison to Emory's and palisade which is pretty high standards. I give them a 7.5/10. The miso salmon bone broth udon soup was pretty good. As someone who likes to make bone broth soup at home I really liked that the broth for the soup was bone broth instead of just stock and really was the reason I came here in the first place. Give it a 9/10, would definitely eat the bone broth soup again. read more
