This is one of my family's favorite restaurants in the Sacramento area. Food - AMAZING! Best filet mignon I've ever had! All their meat is delicious. And I don't know what they do to their rice , but I can never put it down. Ambiance - it is not very noises with classical music playing in the background. I find it elegant, but not overly fancy. Service - everyone is always very nice and friendly. The waiters check in regularly. They are also quite efficient! My food came out quite quickly. We met some friends at this restaurant recently on a Tuesday night about 7:30pm. We walked in, and there was only one other table occupied. The restaurant is beautifully, decorated and cozy with large round tables for larger groups. The service was efficient, but she rushed us terribly. As soon as she brought our wine, she came to take our order. We had not seen our friends for a while so we wanted to chat for a few minutes. I told her I wasn't ready to order, but she stood there and took everyone else's order. My husband was still looking at his menu as well. So she rushed us to make a decision about our order. The proper thing to do would have been to come back in five minutes until everyone was ready to order. Also, we had questions about the menu and she was very short with us when she answered them. Courteous, but short like she was in a rush. My husband felt that his meat should have come with some dipping sauce. He asked if they had tzatziki sauce and she said they did. She brought him a tiny plastic container to dip his meat into. When we got our bill, she had charged him an extra $6 for this tiny amount of sauce. I thought the food was good and chicken well cooked. It was nothing special, however, and my husband said his meat was dry. That's why he wanted dipping sauce. We were surprised the waitress came back so quickly to give us the bill. The restaurant closes 9pm and she came back at 8:15 with the bill. I was still eating my food. She kept coming back to make sure we paid the bill so we felt rushed to pay right away! At 8:30 PM she ran out of the restaurant like she was late for something. Obviously she had personal business to take care of and that's why she rushed us. There were no other servers in the restaurant that I could see that could've taken over. I thought the whole thing was odd and lacking courtesy for the customer. We will most likely not be coming back. It's really annoying when a server rushes us in a restaurant, especially when they're not closing and there's not many people in there in the first place. read more

After living in Alaska for the last 2 1/2 years and not having access to Mediterranean food, I moved back to California and was craving it. Looked at this place on yelp and decided to give it a try based on the reviews. Although California has some dine in capacity right now, this place was not offering dine in. It was a little bit of a hassle to call in your order while standing at the door and then had a 30 minute wait to pick up. But it was well worth the wait. They are right up the street from us and we occasionally get kabob's from them. I love it! I'm a 1/2 breed Persian-American so I can't always be trusted regarding Iranian things... but Persian food is something I truly enjoy and I feel I know when it's done poorly. Kolbeh Kabob is delicious, the staff and owner are very accomodating and friendly, and the ambiance is typically Iranian :). My Persian mother approves of it which isn't always a given. Good Iranian food tends to be a bit expensive but Kolbeh Kabob is reasonable - go at lunch and eat in if you want the least expensive but either way it's worth it. They do gift cards too which is awesome. read more

On the advice of neighbors of my parents, we decided to make the trek out to Orangevale to try Kolbeh Kabob. It's a longish drive but we were to be rewarded... It's a pleasant dining room, although it was a tad warm. Not really shocking considering the 102º temperature that day. The server was a delight, going to great pains to explain the dishes we were unfamiliar with, all with a charming sense of humor. We started with Kashke-Bademjan (eggplant with onion and mint), Dolmeh (stuffed grape leaves topped with barberries) and Addas Polo (cinnamon rice with lentils and a veggie kabob). This was just for starters so it should be apparent that we ordered way too much food. All of these dishes were excellent. The Dolmeh were far and away the best version of stuffed grape leaves we've had - this coming from someone who grew up eating Lebanese food. All of this was accompanied by feta cheese, delicious fresh pita bread and a pile of fresh mint, parsley and other herbs to punch up the dishes. For main courses, two of us had the beef Koobideh, the others in the party had lamb Koobideh and chicken Sultani. Three opted to upgrade the standard basmati rice to fava bean rice (this was good but upgrading to Addas Polo instead would have been better). The beef Koobideh is ground in-house and it's spectacular. So tender and flavorful it puts other ground beef kabobs to shame. The same could be said for the chicken and lamb Koobideh as well. The chicken Sultani (combination plate with chicken Koobideh and breast/thigh kabob) was slightly spicy and very tender and juicy. Despite obviously stuffing ourselves, we decided to try their Bastani (ice cream made with saffron, rose water and pistachios) as both a waffle ice cream sandwich and a dish. The ice cream is fantastic but the waffles were a bit soft and not much of an addition to the experience so I'd skip that and just get a dish. The prices are a steal considering the quality and flavor of the food. The service leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. This was one of the best dining experiences we've had in the area, regardless of price point. A hidden treasure to be certain. read more

This rating is based on food, value and service. First of all, I have eaten at different Mediterranean style restaurants and the food is average at best. The meat was cooked perfectly and the presentation of dishes were great but the flavor was just not there. The rice was plain and the meat was flavorless and bland. I was very disappointed by my dining experience as I could barely palate the food. And the food is more on the expensive side but wasn't worth the price tag. Service was just ok. Took forever to get served and there weren't many people in the restaurant. Needless to say, I wont come back. Waste of money and time. Huge disappointing dining experience. The extra star is because the place is clean and beautiful, otherwise I would have given 1 star for quality and taste of the food. read more

We were looking for an authentic Persian restaurant in the area and Kolbeh did not disappoint! My husband and I brought our 2 little ones with us which always makes me nervous in a fine dining situation but the staff was so friendly with us and kept the little ones entertained with the delicious bread basket while we waited for our food. We got the Soltani and Fesenjan with Bogoli Polo as the rice upgrade and it was DELICIOUS! I barely got to try the Koobideh because my 4 year old and 18 month old devoured it! The Barg was so tender and flavorful and by far my favorite! The Fesenjan was perfect and was completely gone by the end of our dish. The portion sizes are generous and the price is well worth the quality and flavor of the food. We will definitely be back! read more

We tried this place for the first time ... with friends last night. They were very familiar with this Persian establishment, knowing the menu and the staff. Pleasant, authentic middle eastern atmosphere with great service, extensive menu and competitive prices. We all ordered wine and then were immediately served a new for me, light appetizer. It consisted of pita bread, cheese and/ or butter, filled to your liking with radishes, parsley, leaks, mint and other mixed greens. Very tasty, not overly filling and healthy. For my entry, I opted for the Lamb Sultani. This was a combination of Lamb Kkoobideh and Lamb Barg. The first was made with ground lamb and the second was a tender barbecued lamb dish. This was accompanied by a light, flavorful rice. My partner ordered the Lamb Shank. This generous portion of meat was cooked with garlic and onions and again, served with rice. We ended our meals with a large scoop of ice cream that was filled with pistachios. Yummy. read more

Just gave this place a try for lunch yesterday. Not located in a very good looking strip enter but you will be pleasantly surprised when you walk in the restaurant. My colleague and I both order chicken shish kabob plate which is a pretty big portion but costs $28 each. Food was pretty good but service not so much. We weren't offered water or for our order until 15 minutes after we sat down and food came a long time to come. Worth a try but go when you have more a hour to eat! read more

12-04-2019 We decided to give them a try since we were in the neighborhood. Place was empty upon arrival. We were seated and greeted by our hostess. We ordered our drinks, but seemed as though our hostess didn't know the wine menu that well. Crystal ordered her drink, in which arrived to our table shortly after. However, my drink arrived some time later. Apparently the owner was talking to another table to patrons as this time. I could only assume our hostess was waiting for him to return back to the kitchen area to ask him more details on the wine. I over heard her asking about the white wine I inquired about. After her short conversation to him in regards to the wine, she returned to our table with the news of not having the wine I requested. I simply chose another chardonnay. Our pita bread arrived to our table, with our hostess advising us how to eat it with the herbs, butter and cheese that came with it. I appreciate the insight as we both tried the recommendations from the hostess. However, I became a little frustrated with the butter not being soft enough to spread on the pita bread. I ordered the rack of lamb in which I really enjoyed the well seasoned flavors. They sure provide such a large amount of rice with your meal. I was hungry and pretty much ate it all. Crystal ordered some a stew with beans, mixed with greens. I didn't care for this. Just didn't look appetizing to me. But crystal enjoyed it. We went to the restaurant on 12/6 and my sister-in-law ordered the chicken kabobs. The chicken was orange. She asked what was on the chicken, as she has heart issues. They could not tell her. After many rounds, and a phone call to the owner, they said it was paprika. I was appalled to watch the kitchen staff gathered around laughing about it. We tried this place when it first opened a few years ago. The hummus is something I still crave, but the kebabs and rice were just OK. They were very bland. Since this place was still open and getting good reviews we decided to give it another try. The Kashke Bademjan had been recommended by a few people so we got it. It was exactly as advertised... outstanding. We ate it all spooned into pitas with some of the fresh herbs they served it with. Will definitely have it again! We got the lamb kebab and the mignon kebab lunch specials. It was plated with a roasted tomato, rice and lemon wedge. I squeezed the lemon wedge over the whole plate and it made it all so good. My wife suggested we give it a try while my mother was here visiting from the midwest - I was a bit apprehensive (knowing mom's preferences) - but we gave it a try. We all loved it, fantastic food, fantastic ambience, fantastic service. Two of us tried a steak, the other tried some grilled chicken - both were fabulous - in fact- the steak was better than most steakhouses in the area. Funnily enough, the food was so good I forget to take photos of the kebab that came out! We ordered a few appetizers and a lamb kebab. I LOVED how fresh the herbs were. The cucumber salad was spectacular. The mint, cucumber yogurt was AMAZING. I had never had it before this but I will definitely order it again. The decor was cute. The ambiance was nice. This place is extremely good! I was a little hesitant to try this place but I am proud to say it was a great experience. Came here on a Tuesday and there was only 2 tables occupied.... The place is pretty large with colorful decorations but it is in a small lot so parking can be tough if it gets crowded. We started off with a tadig stew on top of crunchy rice. The stew included lamb and kidney beans which was pretty good. The sauce and lamb mixed with the crunchy rice was a great combo. You also has the option of eating it with the bread they provide along with some produce such as green onion, mint, Thyme, and radishes. We also ordered the lamb koobideh which was excellent!!! It came with rice and grilled tomatoes! It was great, the flavor was on spot and not overbearing with spices. The grilled tomato went perfectly with the lamb and rice! We also got the filet and ribeye which is called a changeh kabob. The meat was cooked perfectly and was extremely moist and juicy!! Service was great! Husna was awesome! She explained the dishes, gave her recommendations and was extremely friendly!! She made our visit that much better and look forward to returning!! read more

I can label this restaurant as for unhappy customers only, I was there twice with my friends enjoying our time and the waiters came and informed us that we are speaking loudly or laughing loudly.
