It is located off of California Ave, next to the fire station and the building has a parking lot in the back BUT the store only has one dedicated stall. We arrived a little after opening and knocked on the front door. We were greeted by a sweet lady. My son looked all around for certain Pokémon card pack. Unfortunately they didn't have it but he was able to settle for something else. I found out that this store purchases directly from the company whereas Walmart has a third party bringing them in. Prices are great at where they are at, please don't raise them. :) I remember they used to be at MTC and they had a lot of snacks. No snacks that I seen during our visit. The comic selection is also as expansive if not more and I'm sure the same goes there just don't expect a lot of retro since they did mention to me stuff like dark horse Star Wars comics are too hard to find and keep in so I assume other retro ones are the same way. Thankfully 808 Collectibles had just what I needed, so I made it into a Sunday afternoon adventure to come in. This is a small shop located in a mall building along Kamehameha in Pearl City. It's across from Pearl Highlands Center, but it's easy to get to from either side of the road. They have limited parking in front shared with a small shop, bar, and a few other businesses. This shop is on the second floor, toward the left. The owner Art (Arthur) was super friendly on the phone and got back to me quickly about what I needed. On arrival he was recommending different comic stories to a customer. There was a steady stream of people coming in, so I assume he has some regular customers. Every inch is filled with comics (new and older ones), Funko Pops!, and various collectibles and statues. Prices are clearly marked; he takes cash, Venmo, and credit. If you're a fan of pop culture and other fun things, this is a worthwhile place to stop. I hope to come in again soon.

They are more sports focused but they do also have a good selection of Pokémon TCG as well. Their prices are fair and the staff are kind and personable. We came for the first time about half hour before opening on Friday for the new Pokémon Pitch Black release. While waiting in line a staff member came out and gave a free pack to everyone waiting in line as a thank-you! That was an absolute 1st for me and such a nice surprise. My friend knew what he sought while I browsed and reminisced as I saw different sports cards. The store layout is similar to stores in the Bay Area with various cards in glass cases and less valuable cards in bins organized by sport and age. There were comic books and magazines towards the back of the store. I am bit out of touch with card collecting as it's been several decades since I kept up. The market has changed where they are now a commodity. Those in-the-know will attest to that. Caught up with the momentum of history possibly being made the following week, I bought a Patrick Mahomes card. Thank you to Dave and Jeff who manned the store and answered questions as they came up. They told me that the owner, Calvin, has been in the business for quite a while and I might have likely shopped at his store in the '90's when the hobby was still of interest to me.

I had a going away gift for a Cub Scout pack member that needed to be done at the last minute. I searched Oahu for engraving shops and came upon Engraving Hawaii. Previously I had passed by it a couple times while walking around the Schofield Exchange, but never looked in before. I walked in and there were two customers in front of me. Nick was helping other customers and told me he would assist me as soon as he could. When it was my turn, I explained what I needed and when I needed it, but Nick explained they had an influx of rush jobs that needed to be completed. He let me know that it was unlikely to be finished by the requested date, and I was ok with it, because I tend to follow the saying, "Poor planning on your part does not necessitate an emergency on mine." That evening, I receive a text message from the shop requesting I proof-read and approve the layout. They got the layout exactly how I requested and I quickly replied it was perfect. I was afraid to think that it might get finished in time, but their quick draft gave me a glimmer of hope that it would be ready in time. The next day I got a message telling me the item was ready. I rushed over to the shop and sure enough it was completed and looked fantastic. Because of Engraving Hawaii, we were able to present the award at the banquet for the departing member! I was so impressed with the friendly and professional service. The team is really customer-focused, and based on what I was hearing from their interactions with the other customers they were going to try everything in their power to get requests just right.
