I ordered the Smoked tofu bao and I thought it was very well done. First, I thought that the atmosphere of the restaurant was unique and gave me the vibes of a night bar. Also the location was pretty hidden so you wouldn't find it if you are just walking around Denton square. The food was amazing though. I thought that the bao had the right fluffy and soft texture on the flour wrap and had just enough ingredients in it. There was fried crispy tofu, carrot, spring onions and more that gave the dish the right balance of a light and delicious meal. Tried Komodo tonight with my 8 year old in tow for the first time. Love the location. Had some trouble finding parking, as it was Saturday night around 7pm, and in Denton, parking around there is scarce, to say the least... Interior and setup were true to Denton fashion(which I love) eclectic, different, and trendy. We were sat at a high top table and quickly greeted...we ordered the spicy edamame and the miso soup for my 8 year old, and I ordered a cocktail(Depeche Mule) which was fantastic!...For main meals, we ordered 3 rolls of sushi( the fuego rojo, beef fajita, and cow-a-bunga) and a bao bowl for the kiddo... My kid RAVED about the miso and finished it in record time, a good thing indeed for an 8 year old to sing the praise of miso... The fuego & beef fajita roll were different and inspired, and we finished every crumb, dollop of sauce, and speck... the cow-a-bunga...nooot so much, as it seemed to be overpowered by a horseradish taste we couldn't shake... For dessert we tried the sopapilla cheesecake, and it was enjoyable, but to me, tasted a bit like fruity pebbles or fruit loops, not sopapilla... Regardless, it was yet another hit with the kid and he nearly ate an entire portion by himself... All-in-all we left with full bellies, liked the chill atmosphere, and will most definitely be back...with or without kids. I'm not an adventurous eater, but everything I tried here tasted wonderful. The wait was LONG (an hour and a half) but we got on the waitlist and when to Oak Street until the texted us. Service was wonderful. Andy was our waitress. She was friendly, fast, and efficient. I had the miso soup (pretty standard), orange fried rice (so good! And not spicy at all) and for dessert I had a cereal milk macaroon ice cream sandwich. It was good, but very sweet. If I went back I would've got something more plain. Friends got tachos and fried cheesecake (and others things but this is what I tried). I'm not a fan of cheesecake but anyone who is will LOVE and the tachos were delicious. All in all we were there for a whole - around 2 hours, but it never felt like it. Loud atmosphere, but to be expected on the square on a weekend. Would go again! read more

We don't get to the square much but when we do Komodo sushi is the stop. Sure there's usually a wait,(hint get on the wait list and go across the street for some drafts at oak street.) but when they call your number and your tables ready it is an experience the moment you sit down. The staff is fantastic knowledgeable and welcoming. The bartenders are great and we had one of their versions of a sake bomb.(I think they use cider beer), it is fantastic. The food is fantastic. Go for light sauce if you're trying to really taste the fish but all of their selections are great. I like the spicy tuna dishes! Komodo is a treat ! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I originally went here because I am a true lover of all types of Asian cuisine and KL catered to the plant-based diet I was following at the time it opened. Not only was the ambiance nice, but myself my my omni friends were able to equally enjoy a nice meal. I enjoyed a miso ramen bowl with tofu, while my friends enjoyed pork ramen and chicken rice bowls. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Fast- forward to this week. It had been a while since I ordered from KL on Uber Eats, and yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to see there were even more vegan and vegetarian items! I am now a vegetarian, so I indulged in the kimchi totchos and the Veg Out sushi roll. The Veg Out roll is HUGE and filled with so many goodies such as marinated mushrooms, tofu, and veggies. It was fantastic, but it is definitely more for vegetarians that still enjoy the flavor of meat but don't want to eat meat. It was a little too "chicken-y" for my taste, but I think it'll be popular among the veg community. Today I got the vegetarian Caesar and it was amazing! It has a little spice and terrific flavor. After that we went raw fish crazy with a couple of orders of mixed sashimi, a Komodo Tower (tuna, crab, avocado rice), a Dragon's Razor Sashimi (think Yellowtail Heaven), and a couple of rolls. Overall we liked what we got, but we wished for a more extensive menu and a larger selection of fish. Everything seemed to be tuna, salmon, hamachi and crab. Will we be back? I have really enjoyed this establishment tonight. I particularly loved the fried chicken skins and the duck wings! They where delicious. I ordered Smokey ramen. The broth was very good, but I was not thrilled with the pulled pork in it (totally my fault - I didn't read my menu properly). They have many other dishes to try and I will definitely return as I thought the menu was creative and different, which is always fun! I will also try the sushi next time- I saw multiple tables eating it and it looked really good. For dessert- I had a lovely macaroon ice cream sandwich from Joy macaroon in Dallas!
