I stopped at the New York sub place next-door to get myself a sandwich but my husband loves Chinese. I drove through this and ordered two beef dishes and rice. When I got back to the office, the two beef dishes were absolutely amazing but I didn't take pictures and the rice that I thought I ordered was actually Shrimp chicken steak fried rice and it was the best part of the meal! Great place for cheap Chinese food. Servings are fulfilling and food is always fresh. Even taking the food to-go the food stays hot! Service is fast. There's a drive thru that's really convenient. I used to order their lo mein all the time and it's more than enough to fill you up, but also fairly cheap. I love a hole in the wall, AND they have a drive thru. We wanted shrimp fried rice and ended up here after our normal spot closed a little early on us. Since we were new, we ordered everything: the fried rice, lo' mein, the Phoenix, and wonton soup. The shrimp are a great size, and the rice was good. The lo'mein, extra juicy with lots of flavor and included some vegetables I didn't expect, but I enjoyed them. Now thr Phoenix comes with both sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken, and both of them were filled with meat. We will return to try other things. read more

The price is affordable and you get loaded with food, but the quality is less than mediocre and its definitely not healthy. I dined in with a friend and ordered orange chicken with fried rice. The food came out to go style in boxes and when opened the food was nice and hot. With two mounds of fried rice and a good portion of orange chicken I was excited to start my meal. The fried rice was extremely bland with an interesting after taste that lingered after you took a bite and the orange chicken was also lacking in flavor. I am going to miss this place so much if UNT has their way and buys out this property. It doesn't look good for the remaining businesses though, everything across the street is long gone- demolished and turned into a field. Regardless, there are very few options for decent Chinese in town and for what it is (fast food Chinese) I actually want to give it 5 stars! However, a few items could use a little work so I'll stick with 4. I have seen some conflicting information on various topics, so I'm going to address the ones I know of. The parking lot is still small but very easy to navigate since the lot was finished. On my most recent visit we had no problem getting in and out and it's connected to another lot as well. You can order at the drive thru but you essentially order at the window and wait. It is not for call in orders only. Every time I have been here they are actively working the drive thru and wait times are 5-8 minutes. Seating consists of 5 available booths and 2 tables. You can of course dine in, and every time I've gone there are people doing so. However, due to portion size, I would recommend you take it to go. The food is neither healthy, nor authentic. I can't believe it's even necessary to say this. They have a drive thru and a big yellow sign that says Fast Food Chinese! People, if you're rating your greasy fast food Chinese on the same scale as either a fancy or authentic joint...well, I don't think you're using Yelp correctly. When the appropriate craving strikes, this is the place to go. On every visit, inside or drive thru, the store has been clean, the employees have been helpful and the wait has been reasonable. My food has always come out hot. I know they make it fresh because I always have customizations (like no onion) and they've always been accurate. They charge $0.25-0.30 for extra sauce, but they give you a couple for free. The chili sauce is recommended. Though I've never used the soy sauce, I do want to mention I don't think it's necessary. My rice has always been flavorful enough that I sensed adding soy could make it salty. Not everything is 5 stars of course. The spring roll was pretty meh on flavor and they make their crab rangoon way too thick on the edges, which makes it difficult to eat. However, the fried dumplings are pretty good (crisp and tasty) and the price is cheap- you get 8 for $3.99. For entrees, I highly recommend the mixed meat fried rice. It's tasty and a huge amount for $7.39. The prices haven't changed as long as I've gone there and I think it's a steal! They load you up with veggies and meats, no skimping here. I wish they would give more shrimp, but that's probably because it's my favorite. It's never overcooked or rubbery, it actually has a nice savory flavor. The beef is really good too though (good texture and taste) and I like the pork. The chicken has been hit or miss, I've found it lacking flavor compared to the other proteins on occasion, but the cook is always decent. They never mess up my rice with overcooked or undercooked pieces, I really appreciate that. The lo mein is pretty good too, but don't get this one with mixed meat. All those toppings weigh it down and make it challenging to eat. I would recommend choosing a single protein and paying $6.45 instead. I'll continue to come here as long as they stay open and as long as these Chinese fast food cravings hit me. It's a gigantic amount of hot food for a good price with friendly service. Seriously, what more do you want for $6.45- $7.39 entrees and $3.99 max for appetizers, soups and sides? read more

The food is just as good as I remember back in college over 30 years ago. I used to walk there from my dorm, and then when I moved to a townhouse a few streets away, I'd drive over to get my Chinese fix. Before football and basketball games we try to eat at a local place so I can feel nostalgic. This trip we had steamed dumplings (8 per order), shrimp fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken. A lot of places either scrimp on their sauces, or they don't have a good variety. They have duck sauce in the packets, which is my all time favorite sauce. Bottled drinks or bottled water are your drink options. There was a hot mess of chaos next to the fridge that holds the drinks. It was like a messy Sams Club with cases of drinks every where. I had to go to the bathroom, but I didn't dare venture to see if there was one. When I looked down the tiny hallway, past the order counter, I saw a weird sink randomly placed and got scared to actually walk down the hall. The drive through was hopping which means the window was constantly open, making the whole tiny room cold. I did not enjoy freezing while eating. There were two out of control kids that kept climbing over our booth to go back and forth to their table. I know it wasn't the restaurant's fault, but these kids were so obnoxious that I couldn't focus on eating because they were screaming, staring at us and climbing over our booth. This is my FAVORITE place for chinese take-out. I have been eating here once a week for all 4 years of my undergrad during my time at UNT. I have no obligation going to denton, but I drive all the way here from my hometown just to order food! They serve the BEST pad thai. I can only eat the pad thai here. I can't have it anywhere else. Other food recommendations: -sweet and sour chicken -fried rice -orange chicken -crab wontons -egg drop soup They have extremely reasonable prices and very hefty portions! I would order one meal for myself (around $7) and it would feed me for 2 days! I heard that UNT is wanting to buy out the property, so if any of the UNT officials are reading this, come to this restaurant, try their food, and talk with the staff. Updating review after eating here a few more times. I've now had several selections and I have enjoyed all of them. I always get a few extra chili oil packs to mix in my rice. The pad thai is some of the best I've had, the kung pao is great, and the fried rice is super good. The staff is very friendly if you approach them with a friendly attitude. The price is outstanding considering the huge portion of food. If I am craving Chinese, I don't even consider any other place anymore considering the consistency and value of this place. You really can't beat getting two entrees (really = 4 meals) take out for $15 all bagged up in less than 5 minutes. read more

Looking for Chinese food close to campus so stopped in for lunch. The place is very small but clean. Everything is à la cart and you had to buy a water bottle if you wanted water. Meals are served in a Styrofoam container. Actual entrée was fair tasting. I tried the happy family and the chicken and beef were both tough but vegetables were decent. You got a very large serving of fried rice which was very bland. It was quite busy so I would say the appeal is a large portion but a below average taste.
