Really cool and unique concept for a restaurant. My wife and I really enjoyed the atmosphere that was cozy but not stuffy or closed off. The food was quickly brought out and delicious. I'd highly recommend the Loco Eggrolls. The wait staff was energetic, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were also attentive without being overbearing. I'm a big skeptic when it comes to Asian fusion food, especially when dumbed down for the uninitiated; but I L-l-love the fusion-small plates spin at this laid-back eatery in the heart of Denton. Everything we tried was memorable, delicious and everything in-between. Not just sushi--though I'd say this is a delightful introduction to raw--the small plates at Komodo Loco spans a spectrum of different Asian cuisines. From the fried chicken skins to the kimchi deviled eggs and the pork belly bao, the kitchen has woven the exotic with the familiar. The plates that left us with the best impressions: spicy orange edamame, tempura shrimp, smoked salmon snap dragons, fuego rojo roll, citrus scallop roll and the pan seared, sesame seed brussel sprouts. The food portions along with the bar/cocktail menu (complete with sake flights) remind me of a local izakaya where workers can dine and imbibe after a long day. While I'm not a drinker, I can see myself enjoying the fdelectable eats at Komodo Loco as a regular. read more

It's located on a side street. From the outside it may not look like much, but once you enter you'll be pleasantly surprised with the ambience. Sounds weird, but the the totchos (tater tots covered in a variety of flavorful toppings) are our favorite thing on the menu! Interesting combinations but everything tastes great! Try the Loco Dragon roll. Along with food, they have a good cocktail and beer selection and our service has always been good. This is a great place to eat while in Denton. My husband and I go every time we are in town. The food is great, and the staff is friendly, and I really like the creativity of the menu. We ate at Nobu in Vegas last month and we liked this every bit as much. We order the salmon sushi and the spicy edamame is fantastic! We tried the Bao's and will definitely have them again, I liked both the pork and the chicken but cannot decide which is best. There is a reason it is in the top three places to get sushi in Denton, and only a racist would insist that you must be Japanese to make sushi. Fusion food is here to stay because it combines the best of all worlds. They also do traditional dishes but I suggest you open your mind and let your taste buds be the guide. I am an extremely picky eater and I looked at the menu before growing and decided to get something to eat after we left the restaurant. So our group went and picked out different things for us to try and they were waiting on me for my excuses but I tried everything and I loved it did not recognize anything familiar except for the chicken skins which I loved but I tried some tower thing and ate more bites than my daughter. Some sandwich which was wonderful. It was great we had a good time and I would go back again.. Everyone was friendly and explained the food as I was unfamiliar with any of the food. First of all the chicken skins are AMAZING. This place is asian and tex mex fusion. The menu is very creative and the vibe is very on trend. I had the beef fajita sushi roll and my mom had a torta with amazing tater tots, but the bread was quite dry. My dad had a rice bowl that he said was too salty. Absolutely loved this spot. We live in Lantana and are just now discovering the great eateries around the Denton Square. Komodo Loco is definitely one you'll want to put at the top of your list. Very cool ambiance is the perfect setting for the fresh, delicious, and very creative dishes that come out of their kitchen. I also have to give kudos to the wait staff. I am not the review type of person usually, but the way I was treated tonight, January 25, 2018, has made me need to write one in hopes I can help the next person. I went to this location with my partner ( we are a interracial homosexual relationship, in case that factored in) and my on-duty service animal. I had my partner go in first while I parked and immediately when I sat with him is when the problems began. A male employee of the restaurant walked up to the two of us and asked very rudely "what is the deal with that? I need to see some identification or I'm going to have to ask you to leave. I'm allergic and don't want that in here if I can avoid it." I then told him that all of her identification was all the way and my vehicle and he continued to have me go to get it with the threat of our removal from the premise. After grabbing her stuff from the car I came back in to show him and he read then stated "okay looks legit, I'll just stay away from this table". We didn't even have our orders placed yet, but I don't see how the establishment believed we could comfortably eat there after receiving that kind of treatment. The entire bar was hard staring at my partner and working animal whilst I was grabbing her paperwork, making him feel extremely shameful about existing. We came to the conclusion that this was not the place we wanted to spend our money in, and promptly left after the ordeal. The restaurant ignored her obvious training, vest, and my words and made the entire night terrible for us. I had a panic attack and hyperventilated in the car and we ended our date night early due to this. I am strongly considering taking legal action, because this was inhuman treatment. In the future, If you have a allergies to any working animal, JUST STAY AWAY. DON'T MAKE A ORDEAL OVER IT, JUST STAY AWAY. read more

Everyone I talked to recommended Komodo Loco. I sat at the bar by myself and asked the bartender every bartender's favorite question "What should I drink?". He pointed me in the direction of an amazing dry Rose, in a can! Fabulous. I started with the spicy edamame and Spicy Tuna Roll. For an Asian fusion restaurant, both were incredible. After I had time to mull the menu over, I settled on the Miso Loco (chicken ramen). Hands down one of the best ramen I have had in a long time. The chicken was perfectly marinated and the broth had a great undertone of spice to pair with it. If I find my self in Denton again, I will without a doubt return to this establishment. I'm writing a review today because they went out of their way to make good after a door dash order went wrong. I really appreciate the service at this place in general, and since there was a misunderstanding about ingredients (my order included bell peppers which I'm allergic to. They aren't usually in the veggie roll, but the chef put them in as a substitute for daikon, which they were out of) they included coupons for 2 appetizers to make up for the inconvenience. Very creative menu with a Asian food with the Bastardization America's influence but it was done very well I had a very good poke bowl and my wife had a delicious Southwest Ramen which was one of the specials that day very nice American smoky flavor to it while not losing the Asian ingredients and tastes associated with ramen dish. We recently discovered Komodo Loco through Ubereats and are hooked. The pulled pork ramen is so bomb and my boyfriend loves their rolls. We called to request gluten-free options both times and they have graciously accommodated - they even recalled our previous order without us even stating our name. This was our first time returning since Covid closures . The level of our food and service was sadly disappointing . We received our appetizer after waiting 50 min, our server avoided our table. I went to the restroom and ran into our server who said "we have big problems in our kitchen your order should be out soon" I asked "has the kitchen started on our order ?" she said "no" I said that's fine cancel our order . I came here on a whim with a craving for sushi. Many of the things on their menu have some sort of spicy thing in it, like jalepeño or serrano, but I cannot do spicy foods due to a condition i have. I brought up this concern to my waiter and he said that i could order something without the spicy things in it. I ordered the Loco Dragon roll without serrano and the waiter said it would be fine. Eating the roll, it was a bit spicy still, but absolutely delicious. I can't say whether or not I will regret eating the spice later or not, but I can say the taste of the food was good. So if you don't mind spice, this place is great! If you can't do/handle spice, make sure you ask what all is spicy in whatever you order and make sure it gets removed. read more

This place is a little hidden away, you'll have to park and then walk to the alley it's located (it's very clean and safe). The staff is very kind and friendly, and the decor of the restaurant is so cute, you'll just want to take a picture of everything! My friend and i tried ramen for he first time and we will need to try other places because we weren't too thrilled but maybe we aren't ramen people.
