The day before we were scheduled to leave for home, we realized that we hadn't yet had any macadamia nut pancakes or waffles. We noticed that Kona Biscuit had macadamia nut waffles on their menu, so we popped in for what we thought would be a quick breakfast. Yikes! Even though we were seated almost immediately, it took nearly an hour to receive our food. And how were the waffles? Mediocre, I'd say. The were certainly large enough, and were well cooked. Unfortunately, they were absolutely buried in thick coconut syrup. Although they called it "coconut syrup" it was much thicker than any syrup I've had before. It was more the consistency of paste, and I thought it lacked coconut flavor and was way too sweet. If you're Jonesing for some macadamia nut waffles, you should be able to do better elsewhere. If you're stuck in Waikoloa Beach Resort without a car, though, this is the best (only) choice. read more

After eating my way around the Big Island, I can confidently say this is the best food I've had on the island. I've been hunting for truly crispy mochiko-style chicken and Kona Biscuit absolutely nailed it. The texture is perfect. Shatteringly crisp on the outside, tender and juicy inside, and not greasy. That you won't go wrong with the Honeybird Benedict. Unreal. Balanced, indulgent, and executed with care instead of gimmicks. And the mochi banana pancakes? Soft, chewy, lightly sweet, and addictive. The kind of dish you keep thinking about long after you've left. What really sets this place apart is the intention behind the food. They don't use seed oils. Everything is fried in beef tallow, which shows in both flavor and how good you feel afterward. Rich, clean, and deeply satisfying. Tory made me an awesome drink and the customer service was above and beyond. Don't miss the fresh squeezed orange- they are local Kona oranges. Hands down the best food on the island. Excited to have a new breakfast option in the Waikoloa Beach area, I met some friends for breakfast and unfortunately was quite disappointed. Ordered the lilikoi ricotta pancakes with lilikoi butter against our waitresses recommendation as she said it is not enough for a meal, more like small bites to share. I should have listened, 3 small thin pancakes for $17 served with maple syrup instead of lilikoi syrup?? Odd! One of the best breakfast places I've been to in a very long time. First of all customer service was amazing! The environment is cozy, friendly and welcoming. Our waitress Rebecca a living doll! So sweet and attentive. Her energy was amazing and felt the love when serving the customers. The biscuits homemade fresh and delicious! The mochi pancakes a must have!! So yummy! Coffee was perfect! Their waffles ayayaaaaay delicious! Matthew the owner greets and makes sure all his customers are being served and treated right. I walked in and loved the place and menu, waitress was friendly, waited 45 min for OJ and almost an hour and half for food... one plate was missing the bacon, no butter or jam for the biscuit and to ask a wait staff would have taken 30 min just to get one's attention, the food was ok. We had an excellent brunch here during our stay in Waikaloa resort area. We only had a short wait to be seated and it was pretty busy. The food: Scrumptious!! We split the Big Island breakfast, a flight of biscuits and a guava cinnamon roll. Fresh ingredients, fluffy eggs and delicious brown sugar bacon!! The biscuits are pretty good sized and light and fluffy! We got a passion fruit jelly, cinnamon butter and a guava spread with the biscuit flight (2 biscuits). The jellies were so good! Then we split the guava cinnamon roll (which was huge!). And OH. MY! It was delicious!! Our awesome server, Brittany said it was new to the menu and she had not tried it yet! Guys, I went to culinary school and have had some of the best food in the world- this place is the real deal. Breakfast can be difficult to get right because everything has to come up at the same time, but wow, I was blown away by the attention to detail and precision of the dishes. Went here with my husband on Feb 4 2026 and never have we been so heartbroken over the service we received. Sat at the table for 50 plus minutes we were never asked if we wanted anything else to drink not even some coffee but thank the lord for your host at least we got water if not we would have sat there with nothing for that long. Three tables that got sat after us had the same server we were supposed to have. They got their coffee drinks one of them even got food and even a refill on coffee. We saw our server walked from one room to the other side of the room just to look outside multiple times there was also 5 plus people standing over at the hoast stand at one point just talking. We felt like this establishment only cares and caters to the tourists in a rushed eager manner and while the locals get pushed aside. We really wanted to give you all a chance that's why we waited so long but after so much time with not even an acknowledgement or anything to drink we got the message that we were not welcomed. Edit: After sharing my experience, the business responded by calling my review "extremely defamatory." I've attached their response for transparency. To clarify, I did not accuse this business of having a policy of ignoring locals or intentionally excluding anyone. I described what occurred during our visit and how it felt from our perspective. I understand they were newly opened, and no one expects perfection. However, being new does not explain why we were the only table left waiting over 50 minutes without acknowledgement while tables seated after us with the same server received drinks and food. If the delays had affected everyone equally, that would have been understandable. What made the experience upsetting was that we were the only table left without any acknowledgement what so ever. Kona Biscuit is in serious need of help in their management system. This morning, we placed our name on a wait list and was told it would be a 40 minute wait. A text came thought letting us know that we're next. We waited another 10 to 15 minutes while other groups were being seated. All the while, tables in front of us were not occupied. We asked if they could push 2 tables together. At first they said no, then after the 10 minutes, they finally pushed tables. After we were seated, another 10 minute wait till a server finally came with water and menus. The coffee came with cream only and another wait again for the sweetener. The biscuits are delish, I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was dry, waffle good. Had to ask for butter. My husband ordered the eggs Benedict. Minimal hollandaise and totally wrong order, came out with dry chicken and a side of fruit. After waiting for over an hour, he just ate it without reporting because he didn't want to wait longer. The reception and wait staff are over stressed because no good system and rude. You all need to take a lesson from Hawaiian Style Cafe or Ken's House of Pancakes. I've now received cold food twice at Kona Biscuit. On my last visit, my to-go order was left sitting at the hostess stand for 10 minutes after I was told it would be brought to me. When I asked about it, the staff member was dismissive and implied it was my fault. I asked to have it reheated but was told it had to be remade. I requested a refund due to the poor service and attitude, and the manager didn't bother to come out to speak with me. Completely unacceptable experience. read more

Very happy to have a new restaurant who understands great food, service and aloha! We've been there a couple of times now & are not disappointed. The last time we were surprised to have a waitlist since there were some open tables but I guess two cooks didn't show up. Unfortunately, this is common in Hawaii's workforce. The owner can't control people who are unreliable but the things they can control like service, food quality, etc. was on point! (I think the hostess may want to let guests know why there's a wait with open tables just so people understand) WE WILL BE REGULARS AND ARE HAPPY TO BE PATIENT IF ISSUES ARISE. We live local and wanted to try this place. Went Sunday morning for breakfast and was pretty crowded. Seated us right away but waited a long time since we were in the far back room. That was ok we expected to wait. We ordered the biscuits and gravy, classic egg Benedict and chicken and waffles. All looked delicious when our plates arrived. Unfortunately all plates lacked seasoning on all levels. Hollindaise sauce was so bland and the gravy and potatoes had no seasoning or flavor. It's almost like the kitchen forgot to season anything. We assumed the biscuit would be good (because the place seemed all about the biscuit) but instead the biscuit was not flaky and more of a bread consistency which we didn't expect. So all in all the food was sub par. The service and waitresses were all very nice. Service was slow, but again, not our concern. It was more about the taste. We really wanted to like it. Maybe it was just an off day for them. We might try again for lunch sometime. Wanted to give a review on the food. read more
