Three of us went here for dinner on a Monday evening while vacationing on the big island. We were seated right on time and had a very nice table with an excellent view of the sunset. Our service was very good and attentive, but not pushy and we never lacked for anything during our meal. Our two martinis and glass of wine were delivered in a reasonable time. The martinis were delicious although the pour was on the short side for both. The wine temperature was a little too warm and could've tasted much better at less than room temperature. It was a very pleasant evening and with the live instrumental music and beautiful sunset it was all around outstanding ambiance. The complementary purple Beet rolls were delicious. We ordered the Baby Beet and Barata cheese salad. We thought it was one of the tastiest salads we've had. We also got the Mahi Mahi entree and their signature dish, Ti Leaf wrapped Kanpachi with an added side of Lobster Fried Rice. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. Browns Beach House is a very nice place to go for a special meal during sunset on the Kahala coast. When we were leaving after our meal, there was not an empty table available.

Brown's Beach House is the main restaurant at the Fairmont Orchid, and it truly feels like the centerpiece of the entire resort experience. The setting alone makes it stand out, right on the ocean, with views that are easily some of the most breathtaking in all of Hawaii. If you time it right and go during sunset, it becomes something special. Watching the sky change colors over the water while you dine is unforgettable. One thing I really appreciated is that they offer both vegan and vegetarian menu options, which makes it a great choice for a variety of dietary preferences without feeling limited. The complimentary ube bread is phenomenal, soft, slightly sweet, and rich with that unique ube flavor. It's one of those small touches that ends up being surprisingly memorable. The service is consistently amazing. You can tell they have a strong, experienced team, and it feels like many of the staff have been there for years. That kind of continuity really shows in how smooth and welcoming the experience is. The last time I visited, I tried the Puna chicken for the first time. It was delicious, light, and a great option if you don't want something too heavy. The only downside during that visit was the wind. It was unusually strong, so much so that glasses were literally blowing off tables and shattering. From what I understand, that's pretty rare, but it did take away from the experience a bit. Overall, I'd give Brown's Beach House 4 stars. The food, drinks, service, and setting are outstanding, and with the right weather, it's about as close to a perfect dining experience as you can get.

Best restaurant experience we could've hoped for. Tremaine and staff served our table, family of 13 and we were given the royal treatment. Sun was blocking our eyes and Tremaine brought out an umbrella. Then one of our kids was feeling sluggish and he made a makeshift bed out of chairs. Who does that? He and the other waiters who helped us did such an excellent job making sure we had the perfect birthday celebration and last night on the island. They even took our family photos closer to the beach. I don't think we ever had service like that before. Above and beyond all expectations!

Fantastic view, excellent service, and delicious menu. Everything tasted so good, from the complimentary ube bread rolls to the lobster, prawns, and filet mignon. All the proteins were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. We really loved the lobster tail. Don't skip this. Dessert was good too! We got the Hawaiian snickers bar which wasn't overly sweet and rounded off the meal with some Kona coffee. Good vibes and great hospitality. Also, one of the best places to view a sunset on the Kona coastline. Paired with some live music, it was perfection. A night well spent.

Brown's Beach house is located within the Fairmont Orchid hotel resort. I would recommend booking at least a day in advance because slots fill up quickly. They do take walk-up reservations, but the wait is usually a couple of hours. If you're dining for a special occasion, you can note it on your reservation. I would recommend choosing a time window around sunset because the sky is very beautiful and definitely romantic! Our spectacular server was Bruce. He was super kind and helpful--checking in on us often throughout dinner & dessert. You can check out my photos for what we ordered. Everything was absolutely incredible - we'd order every item again. I did, however, forget to take a picture of the Ube rolls (first round complimentary). They were so unique and had great textures. I wish I could make these at home! For dessert, I thought the tiramisu was a little dry, but my husband enjoyed the whole thing. Their version of the Snickers bar was totally delicious, even better than the actual candy bar) and complimentary (since we were celebrating our anniversary - how sweet!) It's definitely a more pricey dining experience, but it is an absolute must do if you are staying at or around the hotel. We are really glad that we went here on our last night.

Came for a sunset dinner. Beautiful views. Service was amazing. We enjoyed everything we ate. Ube bread- yum! Watermelon poke - fun way to try watermelon differently, has a slight kick Scallops - delicious, would have been nice to get 3 instead of 2 for the price. Coconut red curry lobster bisque - i enjoyed it, subtle red curry flavor Ribeye- cant go work with steak Ti Leaf Wrapped Kanpachi - I really enjoyed, it was interesting with the coconut cream Panna cotta - beautiful flavors but the panna cotta wasn't fully set Hawaiian snickers bar - 100% recommend getting if you enjoy chocolate.

Amazing experience! Staff, food, and Ambiance were 5 stars. To start off we were seated at the outer edge of the restaurant near the water and we were able to see the sunset - ambiance was off the roof. The food selection were great from the vegetarian (Kalo Fondant), to the Mahi mahi to the filet mignon. Let's not forget about the "Ube" rolls. The desserts was great and my favorite would be the chocolate dessert of the evening. The staff were incredible and this tops off a great evening! Definitely a great place to have dinner with family and friends.

Ocean front dining at it's best. Beautiful beachside restaurant with Hawaiian musicians serenading you while enjoying a delightful dinner. Janice was warm and attentive making every moment special. We celebrated a special birthday. Notable dishes include jumbo prawns with foie gras and the yummiest ube rolls!

My husband and I came to the big island for our 5 year wedding anniversary. We knew we wanted a beautiful view and relaxed atmosphere for our celebration dinner and a friend at home recommended Browns Beach House. When we sat down I wanted to cry it was so beautiful (lol). We had the absolute BEST meal and service of our lives. Our waiter Tramaine made us feel as if we were his only table. He was friendly (down to earth), gave a great presentation on the menu and some recomendations based on what we liked/didn't like. He even took our photo TWICE once before sunset and once at sunset. We left dinner already talking about coming back and even decided we'd stay at the Fairmont (the restaurant is on their property) just so we can eat there again. Highly recommended!

This is a beautiful restaurant at one of the most fabulous resorts that I have ever been to, but the food is just average. The drinks are fine and the complimentary ube bread with honey butter is terrific. We tried four different mains: Ti Leaf Wrapped Kanpachi (ok), Kona Prawns (overcooked), Mahi Mahi (best of what we tried), and Special Ono (not great). This is a very expensive meal that does not live up to the experience of the hotel.

What a superb experience for our wedding anniversary! If you have a big event to celebrate while in this area of the Big Island, please consider Brown's. It was a small hike to get out to this restaurant from the lobby of the Fairmont Hotel, but it was worth it to be on the beach for the amazing sunset. I shared about our anniversary online when making the reservation, and they gave us the best table in the place-IMO, so close to the beach and only a few tables in this section. We both got fish--he got Mahi Mahi, I got Ono. Both excellent but i liked his macadamia crusted Mahi the best. And the lobster fried rice had a great smokey flavor that sets it apart from your everyday Hawaiian side dish. Excellent presentation of food from the purple sweet potato bread, to the salad, the entrees, and the desserts. Try the tiramisu and the snickers dessert. Service was wonderful! There was even a sunset ritual performed with a horn! And the sun setting was the perfect backdrop (6 pm reservations in July is perfect timing). We had a magical time and will be back!

I came here for dinner and the ambience and location with the view is absolutely amazing. They also have soft life music outside creating a great ambience. The service is also excellent and our server did an excellent job of walking us through the menu. However, I will say for the price, the portion of food is very very small. Pictured is my pasta that was an appetizer amount of food.

This wasn't just a dinner; it was our absolute favorite meal of the entire trip. We didn't even have a special occasion to celebrate--we just had a phenomenal experience here in the past and couldn't wait to return. They somehow managed to exceed every expectation. From the second we walked in, we were blown away. We loved the Tiki Bar, everyone is family when you walk in, history covering the walls ambiafamily-friendly; ev Seafood We were greeted by Dave Yurtin, the owner, who set up a fabulous table for us inside. But here is the kicker: Dave actually remembered us from our first visit two years ago! Talk about a total legend. We couldn't believe his memory--that is next-level hospitality. Our server, Ryan, provided spectacular, world-class service. He didn't write a single part of our big order down and got absolutely everything 100% right. He was attentive, fast, and incredibly sharp--he even remembered at the end that my mother-in-law had asked for onion rings once she was finished, before changing her mind. Incredible! Now, let's talk about the food and drinks because WOW. We started with the drinks, and these were hands-down the absolute best Mai Tais we have had on the island. Every single dish that hit the table was a home run: - Escargot: Wow, wow, wow, wow! Absolutely phenomenal. The pesto and cheese with the garlic bread? Unreal. - Seafood Quesadilla & Coconut Shrimp: Perfectly executed and delicious. - Braised Short Ribs: Out of this world. Fall-off-the-bone tender. - Pineapple Macnut Slaw: Insane flavor. Do not skip this! - Garlic Bread: Spectacular and perfect for soaking up every last bit of flavor. - Fish Linguine: A rich, perfectly balanced cream sauce packed with different types of fresh fish. Somehow, we saved room for dessert and tried FOUR different ones: the Key Lime Pie was unbelievable, the Lilikoi Pie and Kona Coffee Pie were spectacular, and the NY Cheesecake with Lilikoi Sauce was the perfect grand finale. Between Dave's legendary memory, Ryan's flawless service, and a kitchen that doesn't miss, Seafood Bar & Grill is an absolute must-visit. We will be talking about this meal until our next visit! Thank you for an unforgettable night!

We love Canoe House so much that we planned our son's wedding party dinner here and BOY did they deliver! We had a party of 20 which meant a pre-fixe menu. Normally I'm not a fan of those, but Jonathon made the entire process so easy planning and executing. Everything was perfect! The view, the setup, the service, the staff, the timing on courses, the drinks, the communication, and the star of the show, the food! 5 stars. We all felt like royalty. Everyone raved at all I just mentioned, the food was ridiculously good and the presentation of it was just as good. The flavors are exploding and they all danced together in your mouth like a symphony. The bread is non-negotiable. It's a show stealer. The fried rice is also amazing and raved about by so many reviewers. The appetizers were stupid good: lobster tempura, sashimi looked like art and tasted like perfection, along with the ridiculously good shishito peppers that were devoured. The Short rib though was the show stopper and everyone and I mean everyone could not stop talking about it! Holy Cow! Did I mention the location and views! I kid you not, it looks like AI on a screen, but it's real life. It doesn't look real, and yet... it is... perfection. Everything and every detail was perfect. They deliver that excellence every time to every table. The food is always on point. The service is always on point and the view is better than the mind can fathom (if you haven't experienced it yourself). Do yourself a favor and invest in making a memory at Canoe House.

We were on the fringe of the indoor seating so it was easy to go out to take sunset photos. For appetizers we got oysters. They were delicious and delicate. For mains we got the whole grilled lobster, lamb chops, and tenderloin. The lamb chops were some of the best I've had. They were seasoned very well and grilled to the right temperature. I loved the mint salsa verde that came with it. The steak was also well flavored and grilled. The broccolini came with a great char. The lobster was great and easy to take out of the shell. The kitchen cuts the lobster for you, but lays it in the shell so you still see the meat in the shells. This was a great grilled dish too. We ordered a bunch of sides too because they looked so great. We were not wrong. They were amazing. We got the sugar snap peas, fried rice, and sweet potatoes. The fried rice was our favorite. We didn't leave anything behind. The sugar snap peas were great too. The lightness of the dish was great to balance out the meats. The sweet potatoes were great, but a little heavy for the dishes we had ordered. For desserts we got the vanilla cheesecake and flan cake. I loved the concept of the flan cake. It was so inventive. We liked it, but the cheesecake won out. Definitely come here for a meal. It was one of the best we had during our visit and we would return.
