    Tonga Toast!!
    Gerry L.

Kona Cafe is located in Disney's Polynesian resort and we have been for dinner in the past and the cuisine here is mixture of Pan-Asian with South Pacific. But I kept on hearing about their breakfast so we decided to give it a chance and booked a reservation. We were seated right away and my wife requested a bowl of fresh fruit chunks that included pineapples, strawberries, papaya, and grapes. For the our main dish I ordered their famous Tonga toast with spiced ham (spam), egg platter with macadamia nut butter pancakes, Mickey pancakes and a side of cheesy grits. The pancakes were very sweet and fluffy while each plates came with tasty and crunchy breakfast potatoes. The eggs and cheesy grits were also solids and good quality. But the star of the meal was the Tonga toast which was banana stuffed sourdough French toasted drenched in Cinnamon sugar. It was moist and when topped with the strawberry sauce it really enhances the flavors. My only complaint of Tonga toast was that it was a massive sugar and carb overdose. Both the sausage and the spiced hams were very flavorful and tender. Kona Cafe is a great breakfast spot that should continue to be recognized.

We went to Kona on a Tuesday night and it was PACKED! Our reservation was for 6:30 and we didn't get sat til 6:45 although we came around 6:08pm. The food itself was very good we got: Potstickers: 4/5 the sauce and crisp was wonderful. Bread (complimentary) 5/5 the butter was delightful Lapu Lapu: 3/5 great for photos but a bit on the weaker side alcohol wise. Wings: 5/5 perfect crisp and flavor NY Strip: 4/5 great flavors and sauces Crab and shrimp Mac and cheese: 3/5 I wish there was more crab. I'd be willing to pay more if it had more crab in the portion. Bread pudding: 5/5 very yum! The service was a bit slow and it took us about 20 minutes to get our bill after our meal. Sadly we missed the window to get photos taken at the grand foridian. The restaurant is pretty packed and loud but the food is good.

Rainbow Roll* Shrimp Fire Cracker Roll*

Food: Rainbow Roll & Shrimp Fire Cracker Roll: Everything was a touch bland. The fish tasted fresh on the Rainbow Roll and there were a few bites of the Fire Cracker Roll that had a kick, but something was missing. Pork shank: Per hubby, "Didn't have a lot of taste, I would not order it again". Ambiance: Fun decor, but it was a little hot (visited in April). The temperature, plus the noise volume was a bit over stimulating for me. Lots of families having dinner, which is great to see, volume reflected that audience. Service: Excellent, Disney always does a great job of making things feel customized to your experience. Would skip next time unless we stay at this resort from convenience.

We got a couple of egg platters and the Tonga toast. The egg platters were big and quite filling. The Tonga toast was good. The bananas were not stuffed all the way in so I only had bananas on 2/3 of the toast. The cinnamon sugar coating makes it extra crunchy on the outside which I liked. The also gave a lot of bacon! Some people may not like the toast because it is very sweet and pretty much like eating dessert for breakfast. But I enjoyed it.

Stitch smoothie with pineapple and coconut
    Rachel L.

We ordered two açaí bowls, two Stitch smoothies, and macadamia nut pancakes to share. The waitress kindly let us order the pancakes à la carte instead of as an entree (our kids had been gorging on carbs and meat during our vacation so we wanted to limit the pancakes!). The Stitch smoothies were yummy and tasted bright and citrusy from the pineapple, each drink came topped with cute white chocolate Stitch ears. The smoothies come out being a very Stitch-appropriate shade of blue! The açaí bowls were fine; a little bit more melted and liquidy than I typically like my acai bowls. The pancakes were yummy but not quite as fluffy as I've had. It took a bit of a trek to get here, but food and service were both fine. It's a bit out of the way when visiting the park so not sure we'd come again but we were happy with our experience here.

While Ohana often gets the attention at the Polynesian Resort, we have found this restaurant to be one of our absolute favorites on the entire Disney World property. We went for lunch with friends and tried some new items and classics. They offer the noodles we love from Ohana, and some seasonal dishes, as well as amazing sushi. We had the bao buns for an app and their pineapple rolls with sea salt butter are delicious. The stand out this visit was the turkey Bánh mì with the purple potato salad (with sweet potato but not super sweet in flavor) this sandwich was huge and so fresh. The pate had amazing pepper flavor and the shaved carrots and arugula added that crunch. The bread was amazing texture and flavor and the spicy mayo with the fresh jalapeños were perfect spice kick. Overall this sandwich was memorable. Loved our waitress and always have the best service. If you want to try a fun spot with great Hawaiian flavor, give this place a try. Note that you need to make a reservation to park in the lot at the resort and you have a 3 hour time limit. Grab a dole whip after or try their bread pudding dessert!

Our server was Angela and she by far the kindest server we've had at any of the restaurants we've been to on our trip in the parks. We absolutely loved our meal! The French press coffee was amazing! Absolutely delicious. I wish that all of our experiences with the meals on our trip were as good as this one. What's not to like about a Polynesian themed resort serving amazing food?

So beyond grateful we could walk right in to Kona Cafe and be seated in 10 minutes on Mother's Day. I got the pineapple drink but without alcohol. It was fair. Not great somehow. Our server was so kind and brought us a knife to cut up and enjoy the pineapple so it didn't go to waste. I got the rainbow poke bowl at the recommendation from the server. It was honestly so sticky I had a hard time eating it. My son got the bad buns and crab and shrimp Mac and cheese. They were delicious! For dessert I got the molton chocolate cake. It came with the smallest amount of ice cream. It would have been better with more to balance it out. It's a super fun restaurant and the Polynesian is our fav hotel at Disney.

It was our first time dining here. The Poly is a beautiful resort. We went for breakfast and only waited 10 minutes to be seated, but it seemed like it took an eternity to get our food. It was 1 hour and 10 minutes from check in until we signed the bill. I'm not sure if that's normal or not, but we really like our waitress and didn't have any other plans for the day so the wait wasn't an issue. The Tonga Toast was thick....like thiccc but the syrup and cold strawberry compote soaked right in. I enjoyed it and I liked the strawberry with the warm banana center. It also came with a pile of bacon. I don't mean 1-2 sad little floppy pieces, but a mini stack of crispy bacon which is my favorite breakfast meat! The ham and cheese omelet was really good too! We actually liked it just as much as the Tonga toast. The grits were perfectly cheesy. Not too runny and not too thick. Just right and we cleaned that bowl! Overall it was a wonderful experience and we're looking forward to going back.

We had an amazing experience at Kona Cafe! We had a reservation for a Sunday morning at 9:30 and it was the perfect time. It wasn't too busy when we were seated. Our server was amazing! I am not great at keeping track of names but I need to start paying more attention! I eat gluten free and they are SO ACCOMMODATING at Disney. She asked if I was comfortable talking to her or if I would prefer to talk to the chef. They have tickets that they write allergens on to ensure the kitchen is well aware. The kitchen does take some extra time to cook your meal because they are very conscientious of allergies to ensure that nothing is cross contaminated. We were sat and ordered before a table next to us, but they got their food 5-10 minutes before we did. No worries! We had to get some POG (pineapple, orange, guava) juice! Fricken delicious and refreshing! I ordered the gluten free Polynesian egg platter and it was the perfect amount of food! It was very filling, and nice to have the fruit to lighten it up and a little donut for dessert! The donut is from Erin McKenna's bakery and is free of 7 or 9 of the top allergens. I cannot remember! It was very good donut for being so free of allergens. My boyfriend ordered the Loco Moco and it was crazy delicious! It seemed unconventional as it was rice, chorizo gravy and a hamburger patty, but it was amazing! The flavor was great, and it honestly wasn't too filling and heavy. We had an amazing visit and cannot wait to go back to try more!

We got Kona Cafe to go and it was delicious! The pot stickers were so good and the sauces that come with them are so good. The chicken dish was moist and wonderfully cooked. The rice had a little kick. And the such roll was delicious. I was sad to see we did not get the bread service even though we ordered the food to go. Overall, great to go experience and the food was ready pretty quickly.

Excellent service and great tasting food in the relaxing venue of the Polynesian Resort. Shah, our waiter was the star. Great recommendations and prompt, friendly service. We had the bao buns and potstickers for an app ( along with the delicious pineapple bread to start) and salmon and teriyaki burger for our entrees. Salmon was cooked perfectly and tastes great! The teriyaki burger was ok but the pork belly on it was not great. Very reasonable priced for a sit down food option. One thing to note, they do to-go orders to with a partial menu. Not a lot of room to wait for your table to be ready. Would definitely recommend.

Why 4 stars? Because we are always down for anything Hawaiian related. --- --- --- For our final meal of our long weekend vacation in Orlando, we headed to Kona Cafe before I took the wife and kiddo to the airport and then transitioned into work mode for an event I was in town for. The good news: we really enjoyed our meal here. The bad news: I'm too old to eat a bunch of pancakes before a long day of work. My wife and I shared a loco moco and some macadamia nut pancakes. We enjoyed both of them, despite the loco moco being a bit different than any we've ever had. I think it might have been the salsa on top that threw us off? Either way, it was enjoyable, but just different. The macadamia nut pancakes were also a bit different, in that, they had pineapple on top. I didn't dislike it, it was just not what I was expecting. That being said, the quality of the pancake was great... it's just that aforementioned carb coma I was in for like the next 7 hours that was a bummer.

It's been over 10 years ago which tells you a restaurant surviving this close to Disney that isn't a chain restaurant they have to be good. And they are. Because of recent food allergies I have to be careful where I eat. I wasn't concerned here. They listened attentively and took all of our dietary needs to Hart. They were very very specific who got white and who could eat what when they came to the table to serve serve. It's not some big fancy theme park type restaurant inside but it's nice and clean. I'm still laughing my friends had no idea I had been here and had even told them about it. Oh well, they bought me dinner so I shouldn't complain. The service is excellent, of course they listen to you when you order which is important, the food was hot, fresh, visually appealing as well as smelled incredible. When we were done they were quick to clear away and box up anything that we asked. I don't like too much hovering over a table but I also don't like to have to go hunt down my weight staff. Just the right amount without being annoying or unresponsive. I will definitely come back here again and remind my friends I have been here. Lol

The atmosphere was welcoming and energetic, and despite it being a Saturday, we were able to get seated almost immediately. The hospitality really stood out. Our host, was friendly, and our server, Zion was awesome. He was knowledgeable, answered our questions, and gave us some great recommendations. We even had a manager stop by to greet us and make sure everything was going well. From beginning to end, we genuinely felt welcomed. Now the food... My wife had the Hibiscus Fizz, which absolutely blew her away. We also tried both the beef and crispy chicken bao buns. The beef was good, but that crispy chicken bao was phenomenal. The bao was warm, soft, and cooked perfectly, while the chicken had an amazing crisp and an explosion of flavor as soon as you bit into it. The chili cucumbers were cool, crisp, refreshing, and almost worked as a palate cleanser between dishes. We also had the steak and kimchi fried rice with a fried egg on top, which was rich, savory, and delicious. The Korean BBQ-style pork ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and another huge hit, especially with my wife. Even the soft, slightly sweet coconut rolls were delicious and paired really well with the rice. But the surprise star of the entire meal for me was the Roti Canai. I did NOT expect bread to be one of my favorite things we ordered, but wow. The roti was warm, flaky on the outside, soft inside, and already delicious by itself. But once you dip it into that rich curry sauce? Completely different level. The curry had so much flavor with a nice amount of spice, and I could not stop going back for another piece. That combination alone is something I'd come back for. Overall, Hawkers gave us an awesome experience. Great atmosphere, excellent hospitality, delicious food, and several dishes that we were still talking about afterward. If you enjoy Asian cuisine or just want somewhere fun to try in Orlando, I highly recommend Hawkers. We'll absolutely be back.

The drink was good with some spices, but instead of a craft ice, they just used regular crushed ice, making the drink a bit watered down. For my food, they sadly no longer had the duck noodles, so I tried the CKT noodles (15 dollars) instead. They mentioned it would have a smokey flavor from the wok preparation, which I enjoyed. However, the noodles were quite chewy. The meats included shrimp, pork sausage, and chicken. The chicken and shrimp were enjoyable, but the sausage could have used a bit of a punch. I was able to get some sambal for heat, but it lacked flavor and it was a bit gritty too. At least there was an ample amount such that I could take some home for the next day. My server was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was the same. I did enjoy the audible music and crowd, making the vibe nice. I would definitely come back if the bring the duck noodles again, and maybe try another drink next time too. Overall: B-

All I can say, this place simply blew my mind!! I never expected this resto to be this GOOD! Came in around 7:15 pm and there's were a few people waiting and I signed up on their Yelp waitlist kiosk. But I got seated about 5-10 mins upon arrival. So when looked at the menu, they had 3 dishes that were Michelin guide recommendations. The first one is their wonton soup, the pan fried Peking duck buns and the steamed buns with bokchoy and mushrooms. So I was curious and had to order the wonton soup and since I love Peking duck, I ordered the buns. Here's my assessment: 1. Pork and shrimp wonton soup - 15/10 - the soup was pretty neutrally flavored but still good to my liking but oh boy, the wonton was out of this world!! It came with 6 large wontons, some bokchoy, seaweed and the broth. I always ask for chili oil and when I took a bite of the wonton, the sudden burst of deliciousness that I felt in my mouth was indescribable. Then I dipped the wonton in the chili oil and it added another layer of umami flavor. This is prolly my Top 2 wonton soup I've had in my life next to the one I've tried in Hongkong years ago!! Every wonton I ate the more I just want to eat more wontons . It's INCREDIBLE. 2. Pan fried Peking duck buns - 20/10 - this should be a Michelin star dish!! The bun was a little sweet, soft but that first bite felt like all my salivary juices just exploded. This is the BEST BAO BUN I've had in America. The most perfect combination of sweet, savory, salty, with a touch of five spice and a gastronomically out of bounds dish - It's UNBELIEVABLE!! Every customer should not leave this resto until they've tried this one!! Trust me, you may want to eat at least 4 pcs of this. I would have wanted to get 2 more but I was already full. 3. Steamed bokchoy with garlic - 10/10 - love the freshness of the bokchoy, well poached and the garlic was just enough that it was not overpowering yet it was garlicky. I wish we can have Kung Fu Kitchen in CA but I guess FL is more business friendly. They also have their sister flagship resto in NY!! So if ever you come to Disney World or Orlando for a work or business trip, pls do yourself a favor and make sure you put this resto as part of your itinerary!!!

Really, all of the bartenders are great, but he is always the one who makes my day very special! When it was time to pay, I was stunned that I was only charged for the lobster roll, and everything else was comped for me. Let's just say I gave a bit more extra for tip. I love Domu so much, and now I have another great entree to love. I wish they participated in magical dining, but still the prices are great for the quality you get. I plan on keeping on eating here when I need some great Japanese comfort food in the Dr Phillips area. Overall: A+

As I'm sure every other review here says, you must order the wings. They are so crispy, saucy, and flavorful. I've tried a few of the Ramen dishes, and they are always delicious. So comforting and warm, and such nice large portions - I can never finish mine! I've taken a few out-of-town friends here, and they always are satisfied with their experience. And I'd be remiss not to mention the gorgeous interior... One of the most beautiful restaurants I've been in! Big fan of Domu, and so glad we have one closer to where I live.

Very timely in checking on us and ensuring everything was going smoothly. We were a party of 6. Ordered 2 orange chicken kids meals, sauce on the side. The only side it brings is white sticky rice- FYI. The chicken was very juicy. I was impressed since it was a kids meal! We also ordered the lemongrass chicken dumplings, pork dumplings, pork egg rolls as apps. Everything was made fresh and came out piping hot. The sauces were so good with the apps. For entrees we ordered a 6piece spare ribs, the filet, a spicy tuna roll, and a side of fried rice (shareable). All the hot entrees also included white sticky rice (not the sushi roll). The ribs were falling off the bone, yet still crunchy to the bite. They were so delicioussssss. The filet came out on a hot plate, and the veggies and sauce under was delicious. The fried rice is customizable, in case you dont want something in the rice. And then for dessert we ordered the matcha dessert. Not overly sweet. And the raspberry sauce was the best part! The restaurant does have a quick service "streetfood" area outside. But that is separate from the dine in restaurant. You cannot order from their menu. You would have to go outside to grab those bites. Although I wish they could combine those options. The outside menu looked really good. Overall we had a great time. I am so happy we were able to enjoy dinner here and would def come back again!

This previously has been one of my favorite DS dining locations. I have been here many many times…read moreover the years. This most recent visit wasn't bad it just didn't live up to the experiances I have had in the past. We were sat at a really odd table, kind of off to the side by the staff kitchen entrence/exit (not the open kitchen - upstairs sort of tucked away on a corner) at a very small wobbly table. We ordered two drinks, an app, two rolls of sushi and a split entree. The table was kind of jam packed the entire evening. I had a drink spilled on me by our sever (not his fault - someone bumped into him becuase of the awkward table location and I got the drink partially poured on me) I also had another diner at a neighboring table behind us push their chair back abruptly and whack right into the back of me. Again, awkward table set up. I felt so bad for our server who obviously felt bad for us as well and probably embarrassed by the set up. He had to fix the table (we offered to do it but he insisted) spilled a drink on me, had to clean that up off of the table and floor as well. Had to deal with a tiny table full of dishes it really didn't accommodate. It really should not be there. We were celebrating my birthday on staycation so it did put a damper on the evening a bit. Food was all fine as it typically is. I do think that the portions have shrunk while I believe prices have gone up. My favorite coctail on property - the lychee martini, is here and it's way smaller than it used to. I thought I was making tat up but I looked up a photo from thr last time and yes, in fact much smaller. You can see it for yourslef in photo I peraonlly have posted from previous dining experiences vs the one I posted on this experiance. It is also a bot smaller and a differnt color - same taste exactly but definalt smaller and different. It's been there a while. It's sort of becoming a chain. It's not bad by any means, it's just not as good as it used to be and it costs more than it used to. I added a star because I know it can be better but this most recent visit left quite a bit to be desired.

Cash in a Disney food plan here for a sit down meal, and you'll feel like you've eaten two. John Jay and Devin were pleasant, despite how exhausting it must be to serve masses of guests in the Florida heat. Bollywood posters, an entry floor mosaic, and lovely wood work were our distractions waiting for our meal. 'Conditioned air, fine food, and drinks,' no lies on the sign! Part comfort food, part imaginary escape across the globe, we'd come back. Cafe and drink stands are right outside Y & Y if you don't want to be too full to ride the Everest coaster.

The closest you'd get to a formal dining experience and non-fast food inside a theme park. Please make reservations cause the wait will be so long and in the heat. Food 5/5: We only ordered from their limited time "Eastern Delights" menu. Got the Vietnamese Shaking Beef, partner got the Bulgogi Chicken Bowl, and the Frostbite (non-alcoholic). - Vietnamese Shaking Beef 5/5: Perfectly cooked. Soft, tender, chewy udon noodles. Beef was served in cubes. Seared on outside, medium-done. Dish was slightly sweet. Authentic? No. But delicious? Yes. Wish the portion size was bigger. - Bulgogi Chicken Bowl 4/5: Large portion size. Chicken was tender/juicy. Not the best bibimbap I've had (of course compared to NYC) but not bad at all. - Frostbite 4/5: Basically a creamy sprite. Refreshing as any cold carbonated drink would be. Wouldn't be missing out if you didn't try this BUT you get the free duck and light-up cup. Can't say no to free souvenirs. Service 5/5: Our waiter was really nice and frequently checked in with us to make sure everything was to our liking. Ambiance 5/5: Warm relaxing atmosphere. We were seated in the recess area on the 2nd flood so it was quieter than the center of the restaurant. Place was spacious. A nice air-conditioned escape from the 90F, drizzling, weather outside.

We read they did not take reservations and seated on a first come first serve basis. The restaurant opened at 5 and was filling up fast. It was not long after we seated that there were folks waiting for seats. A fantastic spot all around.
