The drinks are strong and the service is extremely fast. You can order on a kiosk and they make it right away. Lobby is great to study or do work! Parking is a bit easy with a parking garage nearby. In an extremely saturated coffee spot in the Bay Area. This was okay!
Before getting into SJ, both my relative and a close friend recommended Kona Island Coffee. The coffee here is so delicious!! Tastes so smooth and has just the perfect amount of sweetness and caffeine. Every time I stopped by (multiple times over the past couple weeks of me visiting the Bay), the waits to order and for the drink to be ready were very reasonable. Plenty of tables inside and outside too. My go-to here was the iced kona island latte! The macadamia flavor was delicious and the latte itself had a good amount of caffeine. I have nothing but good things to say about this cafe.
Got the hot and iced Kona Island lattes and really loved the macadamia flavors, really reminded me of Hawaii! Only downside is that it is pretty expensive, came out to like $8 a coffee, if not more. Inside has some seating but is pretty dark, but there's some outdoor seating as well which is nice especially in the summer.
Finally went to Kona Island in Mt. View on a Sunday! Parking is always hard in the plaza but managed to find one in the parking garage. Nice place. There's 2 screens available to order and a cashier. No cash. They have outdoor seating outside, with table signs specifically for Kona customers. We ordered 3 iced drinks, traditional chimney and 2 bottled drinks for later. There was a bit of a wait. I was told the chimney will take about 10-15 minutes. My Nutella latte was good. The sweetness was not overloaded. The chimney tasted like a sweet pretzel. It was cool to see the smoke coming out, yes, like a chimney! Lol I believe there's options to have ice cream inside. Overall, great experience!

We stopped by this new Hawaiian coffee shop and found a couple of things that make it stand out from the crowd. First, they use 100% Kona coffee, which is surprisingly hard to find. The owner is also from Hungary and serves traditional chimney cake. Each one is baked to order, so you get it fresh from the oven. Ours was perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside, and paired wonderfully with the ube cream. It's an absolute must-try. I also appreciated the little details. When we ordered their siphon coffee, they asked whether we'd like it served in a paper cup or a ceramic mug. We chose ceramic, and I really think coffee tastes better that way. It's a small touch, but it shows they care about the experience.
I've known about Kona Island Coffee from when they had their coffee truck in Sunnyvale. So I was excited to hear they finally opened a brick-and-mortar cafe. The interior is spacious & nicely-decorated, though I wonder if it could be better optimized. Such as: the amount of seating, and where the napkins & utensils are located. The service is good; the staff are friendly & the wait times are reasonable even when crowded. The centerpiece of Kona Island Coffee... is naturally the Kona coffee. I'm not the most attuned to the subtleties, but I can say it tastes pretty good. I've tried a few of their lattes & enjoyed most. The Kamoa Mocha, with raspberry & coconut, is quite unique. (I wish they brought back the salted caramel Kīlauea Mocha though.) The Hilo Latte has some good ube & taro flavor. However, the Kona Island Latte was underwhelming & not really worthwhile, since the macadamia & coconut were too subtle. I tried some food as well. The ube-banana bread is decent but not spectacular. But, the Nutella Chimney Cake was 100% worth it. It takes some time to make, but it comes out hot & fresh. Kona Island Coffee has some opportunities for improvement, but they have a good foundation. I'll likely return every so often since their menu is distinct from most other cafes.

I was hoping to order crepes as I'd seen on Yelp; but, those were unavailable. The food readily available were the chimney cones, ube banana bread and Hawaiian bread. Needless to say, I was disappointed and unfortunately the drinks were not as expected. Very light in flavor. We ordered the hot Kona Island and hot Hilo latte. Unsure if we'll be back to give it another shot.

I would definitely come back if I'm in the area, I wouldn't drive all the way out here for it though. They have a lot of options such as snacks and smoothies, and non coffee options! Grand opening day. It was busy when we arrived around 9 am. Line move pretty steady. You can order via the 2 touch screen or at cashier. Itvis faster to order via touch screen kiosk. It serves Kona coffee , cold and hot. There are are many interesting coffee choices and I never have many of them. They also serve pour over and looks like sell coffee beans. The coffee is on the light side and that sweet which is good. The chimney cake is made to order so it is served hot. The chimney cake is yummy. It is like layer. I like the pistachio one. Overall it was good experience and they did good job on grand opening.
Saw this place on TikTok and wanted to try authentic coffee from Kona immediately. Location is nice, neat, and has plenty of areas to sit and relax. Parking garage is close by. Did self order so not too much interaction with the staff, but they seemed nice and welcoming. Coffee was good, nice spot to get. Got the matcha also which was more on the light, creamy coconut taste with coconut shavings. Though I prefer a much deeper matcha taste.
What a VIBE Loved the ambiance, the hawaiian flavors (ube! matcha! more!) and treats (chimney cake! banana bread! more!) available on their menu. I got the Hilo Ube hot latte and my friend got the iced version. I ended up liking the iced version more (also because it comes with a purple cream on top which is always a delight) so I will probably get that next time. I also got the ube banana bread which ended up being a great snack during my hike later that day.

Kona Island Coffee is a nice spot for coffee and freshly made chimney cakes. There are two kiosks near the entrance, making it easy to place your order. The chimney cakes come in a good variety of flavors, and they're made fresh, so expect a bit of a wait. I got the Kamoa Mocha, which is made with Kona espresso, raspberry, milk, and coconut whipped cream. The coffee was tasty, although a tad on the sweet side. You can taste a very subtle hint of berry from the raspberry, which adds a nice flavor without overpowering the mocha. The chimney cake was fresh, piping hot, and delicious. Definitely a fun treat to pair with your coffee! Looking forward to visiting again and trying more of their drinks and chimney cake flavors. read more
Saw reviews of this coffee shop on social media, so we came here to check them out. The place is brand new and pretty roomy. Their staff are friendly and they work quickly. The chimney cakes are made to order, and that took about 10 minutes. We ordered their signature Kona Island Latte, a Kamoa Mocha, and a pistachio chimney cake. The Kona Island Latte is the only one that tastes unique; the Kamoa Mocha is a little too sweet and lacks flavor. I had high hopes for their chimney cakes, but sadly they failed to meet my expectations. The bread was hard as a rock; I had a hard time breaking a piece off, and the pistachio lacks any flavor. read more
What happened to this place?? It used to be so good when they were a truck and now they have a store front my matcha haupia was completely milk with no flavor of haupia. (See pic attached from now to how it was bright green then). For $8, the quality is below average now. I also ordered a ube banana bread and it was dry with a slight ube flavor and no banana flavor. I visited Kona Island Coffee when they had their trailer in front of Fremont High School back in 2023 and noticed they had a store front when I was visiting the business next door. This is their first and only store front and what a beautiful space inside. The barista station is neat and tidy and two people were inside making drinks. I walked in and there was no cashier waiting but I noticed the kiosk so ordered the Kona latte. Pretty straight forward transaction with zero human interaction. I sat and waited and my order was ready within a few minutes. I asked the barista if this was the trailer and Sunnyvale and he pointed at the owner who was busy filling syrups. I congratulated them and wished them well in their business and was on my way. My Kona iced latte was delicious balanced flavored of coffee, macadamia, and coconut. This is a sweet drink but was just what I was craving this visit. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Kiosk machine to order. Will come back and try their chimney cakes. read more

The new modern and cool coffee spot in the Bay! Previously Kona was open as a food truck version. I loved the chimney cake with Nutella dipping--so delicious and my first time seeing this in the area! I paired it with an iced latte (around $8), which was a really solid, well-balanced medium roast. A few quick tips for your visit: * Ordering & Service: The staff is very nice, and you have the convenient option to order in person or via the kiosks. * Drinks: You can regulate pretty much everything and customize your drink, you can control even the amount of ice in your beverage, but just a heads up--you will be charged extra if you order a drink with no ice. * Parking: Super easy, there is a parking garage right next door. * Restrooms: There are no restrooms inside the shop; you have to walk around the corner to use them. Happy grand opening day to Kona Island! I was really excited about having Hawaiian coffee in the bay area as I am personally not aware of anything like it here. You can order in person or at the two self service iPads in the corner on your left when you enter. We got a Kona island latte which is Kona coffee with coconut macadamia flavor and a honalo macchiato which was a hazelnut flavored coffee. Both were very strong and delicious which is what I like! We drove all the way here to try Kona coffee. Let's just say it wasn't worth the drive. I ordered their Kona iced latte. I think I should have ordered some type of Kona coffee without any syrup. It's a nice touch to add macadamia nuts, but it kinda ruined the coffee experience. My hubby ordered the cappuccino which he liked, so I guess it wasn't an entire miss. Coffee was delicious. I am kinda glad it's outta my way because I'd be here everyday, and it's pretty expensive-more than Starbucks. The space was clean and modern. I got the iced Kona latte and Hawaiian bread. They seem to only have one size and I would have ordered a bigger version if they had it. The bread was fresh and full of flavor. Also do not follow the directions for California Ave-use The Village at San Antonio center. I was walking up and down California Ave. and then realized it was in the promenade/alley space on San Antonio Road. You can park in the parking structure. read more
So excited to try this new spot, parking will be in a lot nearby so you just walk around the corner and you're there! No lines when I went, you order on their touch screens so it's fairly quick and easy, although if people want to scroll through that may take long. The inside is nice and clean. They offer water on the side which I alway appreciate. There is indoor and outdoor seating and they have lots of options and alternatives to customize your drink which I enjoyed. My first visit but not my last! There was no line when I arrived mid-morning. I wasn't sure what to get, and had a tough time determining from the photos which cold drinks might be more frappe vs liquid. I decided to try the iced ube coffee drink on the menu. I requested less ice, less sugar; it was still on the sweet side, but delicious, smooth and reminiscent of Hawaii. I look forward to trying additional beverages here in the future. read more
Excellent customer service. The woman behind the register was so friendly and helpful. I felt like there were many options that sounded good. I ended up getting the iced Hilo latte, which is a coconut Ube latte. I would say it was not sweet at all, which is good, but for some they may not like the taste. There was minimal coconut flavor. The Ube whipped cream was also flavorless. I know Ube is a very mild taste but still. The drink was around eight or nine dollars. I feel like it's pretty pricey so I will not return again. read more

Went for their grand opening and was instantly transported to being back in Hawaii! There was traditional music and dancing that you could enjoy while waiting for your coffee. Pretty easy and quick to order as you could order on one of two available kiosks or directly at the counter. Large menu of coffee with a few baked treats to also try out. I got the captain cook and americano. It reminded me exactly of coffee back in Hawaii! Giving it 4 stars only as I did find it a touch expensive compared to other coffee shops in the area. read more

Captain cook -lite ice -less sweet -the cinnamon is not too strong -it's supposed to have honey and vanilla in it as well but I don't quite taste the honey. It might have something to do with adjusting it to less sweet, but it's still a shame. Vanilla however, can be detected Kona island coffee -lite ice -"wow" -the macadamia nut flavor really shines through and is like no other -it literally tastes like you bit into a macadamia nut at the same time -it has a slight hint of coconut but you'd have to search for the flavor to find it Over all pretty good and brings us back to the island. As someone who enjoys Kona coffee, I was excited to try a coffee shop that serves 100% Kona coffee in the Bay Area. I came here on a Saturday morning and it was quite busy, I waited about 10 minutes for my drink. I ordered the Macadamia Nut Oat Iced Latte ($8), which wasn't too bitter or too sweet and was enjoyable overall, though it felt a bit small for the price. The ambiance was simplistic and modern, there were many spots to sit and wait. This is a solid spot to try if you're looking for Kona coffee! read more

I dropped by Kona Island Coffee during their grand opening weekend around 11am and decided to try the iced Kona Island Latte with added coconut cream. The total came out to a little over $10, which is on the pricier side for a coffee drink. For the latte itself, I'd give it about a 7/10. It was smooth and decent quality, but I personally wish it had a bit more sweetness and stronger flavor, especially with the coconut cream added. What really stood out to me was the atmosphere of the shop. The interior was very nice, bright, and well-lit with a relaxing Hawaii-inspired vibe that made the place feel welcoming and comfortable. Space isn't that big so the tables inside got taken up quickly, however there are plenty tables outside and across the street to choose from. They also had two self-serve kiosks available, which helped make ordering convenient. The staff were all friendly, patient, and helpful with customer questions, especially considering it was their grand opening and likely very busy. Overall, a solid experience and a nice addition to the area. I'd come back again to try some of their other drinks. read more

I usually don't like to go to a new shop on the first day due to crowds and new staff learning the trade. But I went because I really like the coffee. There's plenty to parking. The place is clean. Not really fond of the metal seats. It's not the most comfortable if you're sitting for a while. I probably won't be going as often as this place is a lot farther from home. Cute food truck! Seemed like they were friendly with regulars/previous customers but we just ordered via the self service kiosk because we had our dogs with us. Crème brûlée latte (iced) - 9/10 My partner got this drink and he typically doesn't like coffee too much because it's bitter but he really liked this one! Nice and sweet for him. Though he did comment that after eating the crepe, the latte was less sweet. Kamoa Mocha (hot) - 8/10 It was light and sweet! It didn't feel heavy in my mouth or stomach and not too bitter. I love a good mocha!! It also wasn't burning hot so I could drink it pretty quickly. Maui (Crème brûlée) crepe - 7/10 We got it without pistachio nuts (sadly) but it was a nice and simple sweet crepe. The coconut whipped crème was a nice addition. I think the nuts would've added a bit more crunchy texture but can't know for sure. My dogs really wanted a piece of it LOL Overall, good coffee and a sweet spot ;) read more
