Came here for a stop to pick up a drink for my trip to the peninsula. There was plenty of parking. Hojicia latte (5/5): This was very solid. A bit heavy, but everything you expect from a Hojicia.

Quiet spot for some relaxing ice lattes and soft serve. The place is tiny but it is clean and peaceful. The cashier was kind. They have a varieties of choices for drinks and desserts and foods on thier menu for quick bites. I Elected to try a couple of their ice hojicha lattes and their matcha soft served And it was good. enjoyed a quiet afternoon.

I usually don't like or drink matcha, but this drink was hella legit mayne! I enjoyed the taro flavor inside the drink, it blended well with the matcha!

I saw this new matcha place pop up when I was in the Palo Alto area so I made an effort to try it out. It's a little bit out of the way from downtown and Stanford. It was hard to find as some others have mentioned. There is no sign on the outside you can see from the street. Google Maps also led us through the back into the parking lot so I had to recognize the outside from Yelp photos. I got the matcha fizz and was disappointed. In my photo, you can see that I got no ice and the matcha drink ended up being less than half of the cup. It was mostly foam, and unfortunately, the matcha wasn't very good. My husband got the hojicha latte and said the hojicha also didn't have a strong flavor. The area is quiet and has lots of seating, but I think it missed the mark on decor, vibe, and the drinks in general.

My husband and I were in Palo Alto and decided to check this place out since I wanted matcha. There's a small parking lot in the back, but since there isn't a sign on that side of the building as well, it's a bit confusing. Once inside, I noticed it was pretty dark inside & it was a hot day but they didn't have a/c so all of the doors were propped open. Service was a bit lacking when I was there. I placed my order for a Mango Matcha, Crème Brûlée Matcha & Banana Cream Matcha (not pictured) & asked for the Banana Cream to not have ice since we were bringing that back home to my sister to drink. The guy ringing me up didn't seem to be listening since he was busy talking to his friend instead while taking my order. He ended up ringing up my drink to have no ice & no cream. I wish I noticed it before I left, but just grabbed the drinks and left since we were in a bit of a rush. We thought the drinks were good & good matcha is used for the drinks, but the matcha wasn't whisked very well since there were still small chunks in our drinks. My sister was also disappointed that she didn't get the banana she was hoping for with her drink. I'll probably come by to try it again one day, but right now it's not somewhere I'm rushing back to.

Trying out a new matcha spot in Palo Alto. I ordered mango matcha latte and blueberry matcha latte. It was pleasant surprise to find real fruit, wasn't expecting that. Though the matcha quality was not the best. It was a pretty decent place with a lot of space to hangout. Service was quick and friendly!

Both were just okay. A true mid. I think the banana cream being on the bottom was a bit strange. Service was also okay, but I would go almost anywhere else for matcha.

Free shot of matcha no charge here! But the matcha is alright. My sister and I came around 2:30pm on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all. Good amount of seats open and there's a small parking area outside but we got lucky. My sister got the blueberry matcha latte and the creme brûlée matcha both less sweet. However she said the blueberry matcha latte tasted sweeter but I'm guessing it's because of the blueberry flavoring they use. She said both her drinks were mid and did not like it. I got the banana cream matcha latter less sweet and it wasn't bad. I could taste the banana flavor alright but the drink overall was like a 6/10. The inside of this place is cute and seems to be a nice study area. Maybe the other drinks taste better but I love that they give a free shot of matcha!

Banana, Blueberry

One of the few places that carries a blueberry matcha and it's done very well. Blueberry puree with little chunks of berries mixed with the bitter matcha is all you need. I tried the banana one but I'll have to get my own since the less sweet did not do it for me. The dirty matcha is not sweetened as it's just espresso with matcha, so if you like it sweet, add something else to it. Service is friendly. Inside is small, about 10ish seats. There is a small parking lot but also street parking. Both times I've gone, the rest of the businesses weren't open so it seems really vacant, but the drinks are great. Overall, the blueberry matcha is great, both size and taste. Go check them out!

I love this matcha spot. Their flavors are pretty unique. We tried the crème brûlée matcha and banana matcha. The staff are very sweet and helpful.

Strawberry matcha latte with extra shot of matcha

I was looking for a boba or dessert place and stumbled upon Ryokucha Cafe. If I'm not mistaken, this spot used to be Te Amo which served boba and mochi donuts, so it was nice to see that another drink spot took its place. I went on a warm Sunday after having lunch nearby and was able to get a parking spot on the street right away. The shop is decently sized with a good amount of seating available, though all unoccupied during my visit. It was a bit weird that the inside of the shop was a bit dark, as if the business was trying to conserve energy, since it made the business look closed from outside even though the doors were kept open. Also, the inside was quite warm as well and I did have to step outside after placing my order to cool down a bit with whatever breeze was available outside. I ordered the strawberry matcha latte with almond milk and 100% sweetness. There was a sign saying an extra shot of matcha was available for no additional charge so I decided to add that as well. My drink was ready in about five minutes. Upon first glance, I liked the dark green matcha color on top but was confused with the pink strawberry color since it looked quite artificial, as if something along the lines of strawberry Nesquik powder was used, though I could see small bits of something and what looked like strawberry seeds at the bottom of the cup. I first tried the matcha on top and thought the taste was on par with what I was expecting. However, the strawberry did in fact taste artificially flavored with what felt like small strawberry jelly bits with strawberry seeds added in. I was expecting a house made strawberry puree with milk added on top and Ryokucha's strawberry latte tasted nothing like that. At least the drink wasn't overly sweet. Overall, I did like the matcha component of my strawberry matcha latte but did not care for the bottom strawberry layer. I also noticed quite a bit of ice added to the drink so I should've requested for less ice. I do want to return to try other drinks on the Ryokucha menu since I think there is a chance that I simply ordered the wrong thing on this visit. Since the business is fairly new, hopefully the recipe for this drink can be modified to make it taste and look less artificial.

Hojicha crème brûlée latte, banana cream matcha latte
Jasmine D.

A cute and bright new matcha spot in Palo Alto! Came by on a Friday afternoon with my sister and we tried the crème brûlée hojicha latte and the banana cream matcha latte. Both were delicious - the banana cream especially was so yummy and tasted like real banana, not the artificial flavor you sometimes get elsewhere. I love that they offer an extra matcha shot for free - would recommend for a stronger matcha flavor. Staff were friendly, and the café has free Wi-Fi and several tables, making it a nice spot to get some work done. We were planning to stay for a bit to get some work done, but around 3:30pm we were told they were closing early for the day (their usual hours go until 7pm). Parking: There's a small lot out front and street parking

Stopped by Ryokucha after hearing about a new matcha cafe that opened up in town and decided to check it out! It has a very tiny lot out front but street parking is available around (side street is easier). There is plenty of seating inside with big open windows that would be good for studying or working. We wanted to try the creme brûlée hojicha latte, but were informed that they were out of creme brulee. We opted for a mango matcha with 30% sugar and a matcha soft serve. They then mentioned that they were out of cones for the soft serve. We were quite surprised at how so many things were unavailable as it wasn't very busy and it was 2:30pm on a Tuesday. The mango matcha was quite sweet even with the sugar adjustment, and I wish that the mango flavor didn't overpower the matcha as much. Because of that, the matcha flavor didn't stand out (even with the free extra shot of matcha!) The soft serve was good - matcha flavor was there and it was quite creamy. Overall, I think there is potential here and I'd like to give it another shot in a few months after they've been in business for longer. I do really like the free matcha shot that they offer and the huge variety on the menu. Looking forward to trying it again soon!

There was a short line however it moved very fast. I ordered: 1. Jasmine Milk tea with boba: I feel like I have to break this review down into two parts because both were on different spectrums. for the Tea: this was excellent. The jasmine flavor was perfect with high quality jasmine tea flavor. The tea was smooth and perfectly sweetened. The initial drink was definitely lived up to the hype. HOWEVER: Boba: ABSOUTELY DISGUSTING. This was by far the worst boba I've ever had. It was mushy and all stuck together like a clump of snot. The boba was totally overcooked and literally stuck into one big piece. I never sucked up individual bobas through the straw and instead it came up stuck together and came all at once. It was worse than the instant boba you can buy in stores and make yourself. Some people may argue that "this is a tea shop not a boba shop" well it's on the menu and I ordered it so they're responsible for the quality of everything on their menu. My friends told me that "in China, they actually serve boba with it and this shop went rogue and is selling it." Again, if it's on the menu, it's fair game to factor in to their review. Overall, the tea is excellent but don't get it with boba. The boba is complete trash and a disgrace to boba. Moreover, if I'm just paying for milk tea, it's not worth $7+.

Thankfully we'd ordered ahead online too and the drink was ready in the quick 5-10 minutes as promised! We didn't spend long inside the store but it was pleasantly decorated with some seating options and kind employee. We tried the Grape Tea with Grape Pulp and Green Tea Jelly and Strawberry Boba with 25% sugar and 0% ice and found it to be plenty sweet. The drink tasted fresh and like white grape, not generic grape juice. The two kinds of toppings were great and provided a little chew - I really liked that the jelly wasn't too sweet and had a light tea aroma, and that the strawberry boba was chewy and reminiscent of the mochi bits you can top your froyo with. Price is pretty typical ~$7.50/drink. The one con was that the drink was served in a paper cup which made it hard for me to ratio the toppings and drink accordingly - at first I couldn't find any toppings, and then I ended up with a bunch at the bottom after I'd finished the drink.

It was creamy, smooth, and not too bitter but you still taste the green tea/matcha flavor. Make sure to mix the drink because the mango chunks at the bottom help sweeten and add depth to the matcha. My friend got a crème brûlée pudding drink (I think I am not sure what it is called) and she said it was good. The pudding was soft but still dense which made it easy to break and drink up with the straw, the milk tea was also very good, it was sweet but not too sweet with the small chunks of pudding was amazing though. It took about 10-15 minutes for them to finish our two drinks, and with other people ordering, online orders too, and the complexity of the drinks their workers worked fast and efficiently which was a really nice. Over all this place is definitely the place to go to when in close by, definitely try out one of their matcha or mango drinks!

I visited on a Sunday evening, and there were a couple other customers, but it wasn't too busy. The store has a whole wall of fun snacks/merch, including Cheetos and aardvark-holding-boba stuffed animals. You can either order on a kiosk or with an actual employee. After we ordered, our drinks arrived in minutes. There's no seating in the store but plenty of random chairs/benches outdoors. My go-to drink is the strawberry fields, which features any milk of your choice and strawberry puree. I absolutely love how refreshing this drink is. On a hot day, this is the drink that I crave. The strawberry puree is perfectly sweet but not overpowering. When you mix the puree with the milk, it makes for a creamy, satisfying sip. I would consider Boba Guys drinks quite reasonably priced, especially given its location.
