This coffee shop is really small but super cozy! It's a Swedish espresso shop, which is very unique. It's a great stop for anyone who is in the area shopping or on their way to work. I was excited about a new coffeehouse opening in my work neighborhood. Then found out it was Swedish,better yet. But, the espresso wasn't strong, smooth or spectacular. It was to-do tasting. I thought workers very nice. They also have pastries that looked good. This is tiny, corner spot with no tables but two bars with a few stools. read more

This cute little cafe definitely has a hip atmosphere which I enjoy visiting for a quick stop. I've tried their chocolate croissant and almond croissant which are pretty good. Coffee -- their maple syrup latte is good but I must say it's definitely on he pricey side so that'd be my only complaint. read more

FRAUD. No other way to put it. I've been to this place before. Never had a problem. Today someone had a massive attitude. I ordered a drink. I recall asking for an iced almond matcha latte. I was given an iced almond latte. I said, "Oops, I ordered matcha." Response from the man who made the drink with massive attitude, "That's not what you said." He said nothing else, just walked away. Um, ok - NOT. I then asked if he could make me another drink. "Nope. Why should I have to make you another drink when it's not my fault." WHAT? He became combative and argumentative. It was not pleasant at all. I began to wonder - would he be this hostile with a male customer?It was beyond uncomfortable. I explained that I believed I said my drink order correctly and that he believed that he heard what he heard - and then asked where do we go from here. He continued to argue with me and would not give me a new drink. I explained that I couldn't drink the coffee. I asked for my money back. I used a card to pay. Here's where it gets even better. He and his female colleague both REFUSED to give me my money back. They came up with some lame excuse about how they can't refund cards because it takes days to reconcile. So what? Give me my money back. If I ordered a drink and didn't pay for it, he would have called the cops and claimed theft. Is it not the same here? We went back and forth - complete refusal to give me my money back OR make the drink I ordered. I left, walked back in and again asked for my money back. His female colleague stepped in and said, "we are just workers, we are not the bosses." She then proceeded to give me a card with a website to look up and ask for my money back. NOPE. I called my financial institution's fraud unit immediately and explained the situation. They were appalled. They immediately went into their system, saw the charge pending, and credited my money back. My bank did that because they were disgusted by what happened and how I was treated as one of their members (admittedly, it also wasn't a huge charge so they were pleased to try and make me happy). The bank representative also wondered what this "business" does with other patrons' card information since they were so adamant about refusing to refund my purchase. Here's what my bank gets - a customer who will always bank with them. What does Konditori get? A prior customer who will share this story far and wide. Do yourself a favor - don't put your personal credit information or money at risk for mediocre tea/coffee, and piss-poor service that borderlines on being abusive - this place is bad news. Just tried this coffee shop for the first time after walking by it for several weeks. Not only is the clean, sparse Swedish decor really peaceful, along with the loads of light coming in from the floor to ceiling windows, but the coffee/pastry menu is awesome. I discovered this cute and easy coffee shop yesterday, and it'll be my go to spot for Sunday morning coffee from now on. My latte was delicious and better than most coffee shops nearby. My husband enjoyed his everything bagel, and the kids and I shared a GLUTEN FREE blueberry yogurt muffin that was really good. There were several other gluten free treats to try, and it felt like a dream having options to choose from. The only downside is that service was a little slow, but there was only one (incredibly nice) lady working. If we weren't in a hurry, i would have no complaints at all. read more

Brooklynites living in Philly might recognize this niche coffee shop. They have 5 branches all over BK. I bypass all the coffee shops closer to my office building to head to Konditori. Really good coffee. They also serve Matcha lattes and have some vegan cookies. Super personable baristas. I'd heard about this place a while back and I believe that the original cafe is on like 17th & Ludlow (something like that) and I'd been wanting to try it because...let's face it...Swedish cafe, how often does one encounter that in the States, lol. One day as I walking down 18th Street, and I saw that there's one on 18th & Sansom now. So the next day, I specifically stopped in for coffee. The place has a cool vibe and the lady working there was pretty nice. She allowed me to fix up my coffee before I paid. They use Square, which is a plus...in my humble opinion anyway. But...while she was getting my coffee together, I noticed a gnat in the cookie case. I was trying to get her attention to tell her about it, but...she kind of kept cutting me off. Sadly, the gnat did end up landing on the cookie and had his/her way with it, lol. I ordered a large Swedish brew and I'm sorry it was HORRIBLE!!!! While I love a good "hipster cafe" I'm really just a black coffee kind of girl, lol. I don't really dabble in the "hipster drinks" I'm just a poser that enjoys the ambiance of their cafes, lol. I feel kind of bad saying this because I'm not Swedish, I have never been to Sweden (though I'd love to go, but I digress), and am completely unfamiliar with their culture so the drink may have been perfectly delicious by Swedish standards, but it was dangerously close to undrinkable by mine. When I looked at it, I thought immediately to myself "I'm not going to like this." What's so weird is, I generally adore European-style coffee since I like my coffee strong and theirs is usually fairly strong. I...don't know WHAT this was! It tasted burnt, bitter, and...just NOT good. I also want to say, it occurred to me as I was choking it down (for $2.50 I wasn't throwing it out, lol) that it was NOT hot either! I'm not sure if that was on purpose or what. A perfectly okay American café but it has nothing to do with Sweden except for the Swedish name and the Swedish flag on their coffee cups. Being from Stockholm myself, I was excited when I saw that a Swedish café had opened in Philadelphia but unfortunately, the café did not live up to my expectations. There were no Swedish pastries, the Swedish roast was just regular American coffee and I couldn't find any items on the menu that I usually find at my favourite cafés in Stockholm. The Swedish on the menu was spelt incorrectly, and the map of Sweden on the wall seemed distorted. If you're just looking for a regular café to enjoy a cup of coffee, the place is fine. However, if you're looking for a taste of Sweden, save your money and go to IKEA. read more

Their coffee is French press and delicious! It's always fresh. You may have to wait a few minutes for an iced tea seeing they steep it a few minutes before serving on ice but it's worth the wait. The barista's are super friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable the few times I've already been in there and they just opened last week. Small, cute, and minimal inside. The location is convenient. Seems like they're on to something different than all the other coffee shops around! A+ IMO - I recommend this spot for a pastry and a beverage if you are on the go or want to sit and enjoy at a stool by the large windows. Great job! read more

I have been to the ones in Brooklyn so was excited to see one in Center City Philly. I ordered a scone and asked the counter person for butter. She asked me, "would you like it sliced and the butter spread on it?" I said "sure that sounds great." After my scone sat for at least 4 or 5 minutes as she took care of other people (not complaining, it's very small and a bunch of people came in at once) a girl came out of the back and started preparing the orders. She had a long unruly ponytail and was flipping it all around near the food and clean dishes/cups. When she finally served me the scone about 7 to 10 minutes later a sizable chunk had fallen off the side and she said, "sorry it collapsed but we don't really do this." Meaning spread the butter?Then why had the counter person offered to do it? I would have been happy spreading the butter myself instead of waiting around for 10 minutes for a scone that, by the way, was extremely dry. Indeed I could barely pick it up without it crumbling, I'm frankly shocked she was able to spread butter on it at all. Skip it and go to DiBruno's or LeBus. read more
