It wasn't busy on a Monday at 10am. - Egg Burrito #2 ($7.95). Medium scrambled egg, cheese, green Chile pepper, pica salsa. I would have preferred the eggs over hard, but the taste was alright. It was an egg burrito as advertised. I don't recall tasting the "pica salsa", not sure what that is. - Egg Burrito #3 ($8.50). Medium scrambled egg, cheese, bacon, potato, pica salsa. Not as good as #2 because the potato pieces were big and hard and unseasoned. - Konito's Potatoes Side ($4.25). DELICIOUS!! The star of the show. Crispy cheese-crusted potatoes with onion and diced bell pepper. The side dish was fragrant and well seasoned. I would be tempted to order this and ask for a tortilla and scrambled eggs and DIY my own burrito, if that was an option. That being said, Konito's location in the VONS shopping plaza has a better parking situation but not the beachfront proximity of Kono's. There was a line of about five people when I arrived, but it moved fast. I ordered the pancakes, bacon & scrambled eggs and took a seat at a countertop near the window. The food came out in less than five minutes and boy, I forgot about the size of the pancakes as their diameter pretty much covered the entire plate. I should have asked for another container of syrup as the fluffiness of the pancakes could have used more. The strips of bacon were close to half a foot long, and the scrambled eggs were nicely done and not too watery. The price for this amount of food was a great deal for breakfast. read more

The burritos are great. I was told by several people that this was the place to get breakfast burritos and they weren't wrong. I am always happy with my meal when I get it here. There is usually a line, because it's that good, but it goes fast, but sometimes if you time it just right, you can arrive with no line at all. They have options to eat in or outside. Based on outstanding Yelp reviews, I decided to give Konitos a try for lunch. The small informal restaurant is close to bare bones when it comes to seating and service, but customers have been very happy with the food and value. This bright small spot is located in the Vons shopping center in PB where I'm sure the landlord has almost sucked the life out of most small businesses there. Of course what a business pays for rent has to be measured against foot traffic and the business it brings, assuming you have something good and different to offer. I ordered eggs with fruit and toast. Couldn't eat toast today as I was recovering from recent oral surgery. No toast then. Settled for a muffin instead. Muffins rang up at $4.50. I'm 95% sure they come from Costco, which is fine, however I was a little annoyed that I wasn't offered a discount because I was unable to accept their toast that I was paying for. I let that slide. Order at the counter and pay. Your food is brought to you. Now the good. My scrambled eggs were excellent and the coffee was A+! The generous large cup of fruit sections was a disappointment though. How uncaring is it when you carefully section unripe fruit and serve it to customers anyway? Add the fact that this casual restaurant is located right next to a good size Vons makes the oversight (?) worse. The kitchen staff (3-4 people) all certainly knew what they were serving. They just decided to not care and ignore it! And for that failing I'm allotting Konitos a mere 3 stars instead of 4. The canned pineapple mixed in was especially insulting because this restaurant has Hawaiian roots where pineapple cultivation has been a major focus for more than 100 years! Please fix this shortcoming, and I'll add a star soon. This is a good place that deserves to continue to flourish. read more

Had some time to kill prior to making an appointment and after dropping off munchkin at school and decided to give this little gem a try based on yelp reviews. Was a bit tricky to locate as Google maps (from yelp location) was off but eventually I found it (Located next to Vons!) Very friendly and welcoming and eager to take our order. Menu is not extensive but still offer a variety of breakfast items. We were not too terrible hungry but ordered a semi lite breakfast. Inside reminded me of a surfer shop in Hawaii (but I've never been... but imagine thats what it would look like). The chorizo breakfast sandwich was good, extremely different but good. The French toast was good as well. You could tell that this place was a local hangout for breakfast as a few larger groups would come order and sit in tables in front of the establishment and chit-chat. The shopping center is big and there is plenty of parking with a lot of shops closed or soon to be opening. Broken Yolk is not yet open and hopefully it does not put this place out of business. Getting in and out was super easy and convenient. The shop is located in a small shopping area so there is plenty of parking. Took our burritos to the beach and enjoyed them!
