Came here twice during my trip to PB because the first meal was so good. everything we ordered was really well done, the service was friendly both times, and the food came out surprisingly fast. If it's your first time, I'd recommend getting one of the scrambles or omelets and upgrading the toast to a side of pancakes. Definitely worth it. The potatoes were crispy, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the pancakes were fluffy without being too heavy. The French toast was also really good if you're looking for something sweeter. A little last-minute change for breakfast that ended up being amazing. Not our original choice this morning, but Breakfast Republic blew us away. They were packed but we got seated right away and served pretty quickly. For a breakfast place, I was expecting smaller servings but the amount of food you get here will keep you full until dinner time. The omelet is about the size of a forearm while the Benedict was like two fists. On top of that, the amount of potatoes you get is ridiculous but in a good way. This will be a place worth visiting any time we're in San Diego as it's not far from the beachside plus it's by the pier if you want to do some exploring afterwards. read more

This place is extremely popular and was just a short walk from my hotel. The wait for food is pretty long. I waited over 25-30 minutes, but the place was busy and the kitchen was sending them out in the order received so can't do much about it. I had the steak and eggs, with sourdough toast and a side of fruit, and fresh-squeezed OJ. The steak came topped with some microgreens, but due to the cyclospora outbreak, I didn't try those. The steak was cooked to the proper temp (M) and the eggs were scrambled with cheese, but they both needed salt and pepper once I tasted them. Tried this place for brunch with the fam for the first time. Cute theme and easy to access location off Mission blvd in PB. We walked so didn't have to worry about parking. There was a bit of a wait for a table and wait for food once we put our order in. Our server was responsive and helpful. Quality of food was good and the kitchen accommodated our special requests- eggs on the side for breakfast tostada and veggie sausage with the American breakfast. My daughter felt her brioche French toast was just OK. Husband enjoyed the carne asada chilliquilles. We tried the "best Bloody Mary in SD" as claimed on the menu. I was on my way home from San Antonio to Seattle with a stopover in San Diego. I did't realize when I booked by tickets that it was a6 hour delay. Instead of bellyaching about having to hang out at the airport, I remembered that it's San Diego, where I went to grad school, and everywhere was 30 minutes from the beach. Grabbed my niece, threw her in a rental car, and literally 20 minutes later I'm at Mission Beach. Bought some beach gear since our bags were still checked and got to sit in the sand a little. Before I could get hangry, we left for brunch and Yelp recommended Breakfast Republic and thank you Yelp for doing that because this place was great. Quirky decor and crazy good shrimp and grits made me super happy and my niece enjoyed her chocolate [pancakes. Fueled for more fun, we hung out at PB, feeding birds leftover pancakes and toast and my niece had one off the best days ever. The line to put your name on the waitlist took 10 minutes, slow hostess. Then, we waited over the quoted 35 minutes just to get sat. My family and I chose to visit this location on a late Sunday morning. It's a Pretty popular location , and had a lot of people waiting to be seated. We were told there was a 20-30 min wait for our party of 5 and half , but literally we were called to be seated not even 5 mins after we had placed our name on the waiting list. We were placed by the front door in a large booth across from the bar. Our server was fast and friendly and our food came out quickly , fresh , hot and nicely plated/ presented. I ordered the *California breakfast burrito (eggs, potatoes , skirt steak, pico infused guacamole , bacon, cheddar cheese, Sour cream) which was accompanied by black beans and Mexican rice , and I also ordered an extra side of *bacon , *home fries and *two Jurassic Bloody Marys (the only difference I noticed from a regular Bloody Mary was that the Jurassic Bloody Mary is served with a slice a bacon in it ). Regardless, I really enjoyed their version of the Bloody Mary and i can understand why it's been voted #1 Bloody Mary in San Diego . I also seen they have a drink called a bloody Maria ( for all my tequila drinkers ). My best friend ordered the *shrimp and grits and Jurassic Bloody Mary . She said that she enjoyed her meal but said that she's been to a different location and said the food at the other location was prepared a lot better . One of my daughters and my god son ordered the *Oreo cookie pancakes . My daughter wasn't a huge fan of the pancakes but my God son swore by them. My husband got this Mexi-influenced plate (forgot the name), but he really enjoyed it as well. Again, the presentation was kinda bad...as in no effort. The PB location of Breakfast Republic replaced an establishment that was a popular drinking hole. Consequently, this Breakfast Republic has a much larger bar area than the other branches within the business chain. You can park in one of the numbered spots at the shared lot to the east of the building. Pay the meter for up to two hours and take the ticket inside to give to your server. They will then validate and deduct that amount from the check at the end of your meal. The take-out shack, Eggies, is attached to the front right part of the structure if you want to get some breakfast grub to go. I have generally enjoyed the food from my previous visits at some of their other locations in the SD area. This time I selected the Portuguese Linguisa Sausage Scramble. Three scrambled eggs were served with house potatoes and my choice of wheat toast. Linguisa, hot sauce, green bell pepper, garlic, tomato, thyme, and oregano were the other ingredients that were mixed in with the eggs. The scramble was tasty and had a nice bit of kick from the hot sauce. The service was mediocre as I have experienced better for a busy breakfast spot. What's more concerning is that this place has been closed down multiple times for various reasons... utility issues, failed health inspection, etc. These aspects lowered my rating of this Breakfast Republic to a three star level. read more
